Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:35

Usually if they are choosing to sleep on their front, it's because they're fine that way. You can turn them back over when check on them etc. If she's getting stuck and shouting about it, that's a different matter! Good luck!

reastie · 27/07/2011 21:38

jenny supernanny has a posh accent Hmm Grin she us getting stuck and shouting on her front not sleeping that way Hmm

ledkr I have carpet so need to protect it! Only floor without carpet downstairs is kitchen but it's too small to feed her in

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:40

Yes, protect the carpet. DD was having an icepop a couple of days after having her tonsils out and some of it melted onto the carpet. Despite shampooing it the same bloody day it has stained!

ledkr · 27/07/2011 21:47

Ok ive been put in my place re the mats, sorry didnt really think of carpets, not had them for years, easy option here Grin

reastie i heard that about the rolling,i turned Dilly if she was stuck and shouting but leave her now she sometimes sleeps on her front too,i find her gro bag stops too much rolling but she is usually the other way around from the way i put her down by the morning.

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 21:51

ledkr when we bought our house two years ago, one of the greatest joys of it was not having carpet downstairs Grin I also had fabric sofas with S&O - it was grim some days and sometimes the dog used to throw up just for good measure Angry

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:52

I wouldn't normally mind about the carpet as the previous owners stained it badly but it's an American house where every single room is carpeted exactly the same so would cost an absolute fortune to change. Want to keep it till Sammy has stopped potty training Shock at least!

Dilly and Alice are feisty ones, aren't they? Grin

reastie · 27/07/2011 21:52

damn grobag is in wash after an explosive leaking poo last night Shock .

I think I might have to use the splash mats under dh as he makes so much mess when he eats Shock Wink

don;t know what is up with alice - it's like she's suddenly grown up in the last couple of days and is having a change of personality. on the plus side she gives me such massive grins when she sees me and giggles alot more but by gum i dh can't keep rolling her back on her back when she moans all night after rolling on her tummy

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:53

oops x-posted with wiggles!

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:54

and reastie! Grin

chocoroo · 27/07/2011 22:19

Hello

Back from dinner and DP is working while R is asleep so finally get to do a proper post.

Emski R did do a lot of nodding and smiling in Buck House. She also had her chubby cheeks squeezed by several dozen tourists, including some Japanese ladies who took her picture Hmm. She was in the Buddha hold I think Deb although I may have made that up. Facing forwards, kind of cross legged.

Reastie The dress was gorgeous. Really good video thing from the Alexander McQueen lady who made it. Talked about how it was made etc. The lace is just beautiful, really lovely. I preferred Pippa's dress tbh, but seeing the lace in real life, with all the different flowers in it explained made me realise what a piece of art it is. And in terms of size, I reckon it was probably a size 6, possibly she'd have to have an 8 in real world clothes as she must be quite tall - I'd say 5'8" maybe?

ledkr wiggles et all re: floor coverings. I persuaded DP we needed a piece of oilcloth from John Lewis. It's Cath Kidston and is similar to the covers on our dining room chairs. To be honest, we too have laminate floor so really I could just clean that more often but given the way R throws her food around I reckon it'd be worn out in a week!

I gave R a chip earlier, she gagged on it too ponyo right in the middle of Giraffe. Typical. She was very well behaved in Wahaca last night though - I recommend that for a child friendly good restaurant, they were really good with her. I think it's run by the woman who won Masterchef a few years ago.

Jane good luck with the SWI....it only takes one go (or a minute) remember!

needto Did you just do cauliflower on it's own? I might make some cauliflower cheese at the weekend. I love cheese so assume R will too!

tad I was wondering, in the States do they really not sterilise bottles? Wondering if it's an urban myth? I only sterilise bottles that I'm going to put powdered milk in. Everything R can get her hands on goes in her mouth anyway!

Right. Best go and get in bed. Have full day here tomorrow but not sure what to do, was going to go to Tate Britain but I randomly walked past a galley earlier and it had a show on by a friend from college so now I feel all art-ed out! Maybe I'll just wander round the South bank and drink wine tea.

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 22:26

knittakid Yay - so tell me do you fancy Idris Elba from Luther? Am I going to have to fight you for him too? Grin

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 22:29

Hello knittakid! I hope you are feeling loads better now. I didn't reply to your thread as everyone had given such good advice but I hope you are getting out and about and enjoying some warm sunshine on your skin.

Choco, I only saw one steriliser the whole time I was shopping for baby stuff here. I think most people think the dishwasher is enough though I have read that boiling it on the stove is also a method. I tend to nuke it in a microwave pot myself! The trip sounds lovely, btw.

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 22:32

tadjennyp I've boiled on a stove before and in cases of extreme screaming need have just rinsed bottle, teat etc in boiling water from kettle Grin.

chocoroo enjoy tomorrow

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 22:37

you must have asbestos fingers! Grin

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 22:44

Grin Well my stove needs to be used for something, think we all know its not for cooking!

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 22:47

Not even spaghetti hoops and fishfingers wiggles? Wink

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 22:49

Even I'm not deluded enough to call that cooking - that is my speciality heating up Grin

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 23:00

It's what I always make for the kids when dh and I are having a nice, hot curry, though they're getting a bit better with spices!

hubbard86 · 28/07/2011 00:26

well aren't you a chatty bunch.
Freya has chicken pox, saw a couple of spots at tea time, just checked and she has a few more. So i am now housebound with a contagious baby grrr. Will get it confirmed by a dr in the morning but i'm pretty sure she has.
Am a little excited as bff had a little boy tonight. Not heard any details yet but have seen a pic and he's gorgeous. Freyas future husband. :) charlie and freya sounds nice. She went 12 days over and had to be induced i've been worrying for days so it's nice to have a little relief.
Re splash mats i just got a plastic tablecloth from the pound shop and it worked fine.

wigglesrock · 28/07/2011 06:09

hubbard86 Poor Freya, has Tom had it yet or are you going to be doubly smitten. Great news about your bff Grin, I agree Charlie and Freya has a lovely ring to it.

Yes, I do know what time it is, was awoken by pelting rain and howling baby wind.

jane thinking of you and Zoe today xx

Emski76 · 28/07/2011 07:14

I love Jo Frost, use the thinking step with Ben and it works a treat!
Need to, the sucker thing is fab, it's works great with Noah. If B doesn't like cauliflower, have you tried mixing it with potato. I mix courgette, brocolli a d cauliflower with potato as they are quite strong tastes.
I took Noah to a mother and baby group yest and he was screaming and crying, was so embarrassed so gave him teething granules and it worked! Am thinking he may have a tooth coming as he's chewing his fingers always in the same place in his mouth.
Ledkr and Ponyo, I quite often close my eyes and drift off while giving Noah his last bottle. I love it, soft music, lights dimmed and cuddling my little baby, what more could a mummy want.
Jane, sorry df is away again, what work does he do?
Were reusing Bens highchair and have had s nightmare cleaning the straps, they still look a bit grubby now after going in the washing machine.
Thanx for comments on photos, Wiggles, yes Ben has grown again, it's all very scary, he'll be four in October.

Emski76 · 28/07/2011 07:19

Reastie, we noticed Noah sleeping on his front last night so turned him over. He seemed quite comfy but I thought it was inevitable that he would cry at sone point! The evening sunlight thing really does work. Noah had woken at 5am ish the last few mornings, he has gone back to sleep but only with me. My friend gad him in the garden yest til 6ish and this morning he woke after 7!
Hey Knittakid, good to hear from you.
Oh no Hubbard, poor Freys with chicken pox. It seems to be rife at the moment. Quite a few of Bens friends have had it recently. Hope she's not too poorly with it.

janedoe25 · 28/07/2011 07:35

hubbard hope freya is ok?

emski he is an electrician but works on mobile phone masts, so he has to go where the masts are.

Hi knitta, hope you and Pablo are well. Nice to see yo back Grin

wiggles as always, thank you x

I have a busy day today, i have my 9 month and 4 year old mindees as a settling in session. Hope the baby is fine with me .

byronicheroine · 28/07/2011 08:20

Morning! Ok night last night, but he seems to be going to sleep later and later, so he's snoring away again now and it's gone 10! I can't have a teenager already. I'll have to start earlier bedtime routine I think, by 15 mins every day or something- does that sounds right? I should add he has been up for food and rolling around times not slept right through til now :)
jane, you'll be fine- enjoy your day of baby screams cuddles
finally got the passport (in laws went to the place in person and DHL-ed the papers here) so off to collect it as soon as lazybones stirs. I'll have to brave the sling despite the heat and disapproving old ladies, as it's a tram a bus and a walk away and the place itself is up loads of stairs and I don't think I'd cope with the pushchair on my own!
Saying about the old ladies here, you can't win cos I got told off yesterday for not having a pillow in the pram- please tell me I'm not the only one?!
