Jane Grin at your nephew

byronicheroine God I'm not telling Mr W that he has an internet following, he'd be insufferable slightly scundered Grin

Right off to do baths, girls have been playing outside all day, they're piggin' and as predicted exhausted from the "granny playdate" . We're off swimming in the morning and need to scrub the dirt off them Blush

Deliaskis · 27/07/2011 17:40

v quick post as singing in a singing thing tonight, but C is the same in jumperoo. I have a couple of times tried to sit and 'play' with her, i.e. push the buttons and stuff, and she has looked at me as if I am a bothersome fly interrupting something very important.

She also does this hilarious thing now if I have her on my knee sat at a table. She leans forward a bit and puts her hand on the table and looks around as if she is in a business meeting of some kind. The first time I did it I was at Dad's looking at his designs for our new kitchen, and she even touched the papers as if she was thinking 'hmmm, I like this, very practical, excellent use of space'.

Anyone else's babies doing hilarious 'old before their time' things?

Dx

Deliaskis · 27/07/2011 17:41

That should have said, for Borg as it won't make a great deal of sense to anyone else, although it will, as you will have read the thread, but anyway blah blah really have to go get ready now.

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 18:20

Hello everyone - have you noticed how often we are in the most active convos list?! We are a chatty lot!

I gave in the other day and gave Sammy some pear but he wasn't impressed. Ditto with yesterday's baby rice, though I made it with my milk. Oh well, I'm sure he won't be bothered for a while yet though he is over 24 weeks now!

I have a great photo of Anna lying on the floor at 5 months reading the GTC magazine! Looks v grown up too!

Lovely weather here too. Hope you are all also having weather you can get out and about in.

chocoroo · 27/07/2011 18:34

Quick wave to everyone...we're away for a couple of days as DP has meetings in London so I'm hanging out in coffee shops.

Just spotted the talk of the Moby Wrap and had to let you know that today R has been in hers all the way round Buckingham Palace! She particularly enjoyed seeing Kate's wedding dress!

Can't reply to everyone as I'm on my phone but it's good to see what you're all feeding the babies...we've been on purees for a few weeks and R is a real Ella's Kitchen fan but I'm wanting to start more finger foods now but I'm nervous. Your tales of bread crusts and toast have given me the courage to try!

Right, best go as going out for dinner somewhere shortly if R will behave!

ledkr · 27/07/2011 18:42

Delias good luck with singing,i love singing. Did you see my post a while back about Dilly growling plointedly at Ella when she had been abit rough with her, hilarious.

Dilly concentrates hard in her stand up activity centre as she drools pints all over it.
Did a little better with weaning today, she had a load of finger food and also a couple of tastes of porridge. But what af'ing mess this blw is?My lovely new highchair is already dirty and i wont mention my tastefull tiled floors Sad

reastie · 27/07/2011 18:55

delia I lol at business brains C (clearly she is getting into Oxbridge in the future). We have the same thing with our different branded jumperoo and also when I put her in her bumbo with the tray dh goes up to her and pretends she's the bank manager sitting at her official desk as she looks so focused and serious Hmm [mad family]

No more signs of deadly pigeon - phew

ledkr speaking of feeding a mess - what is everyone using to cover the floor with? I need to buy some kind of sheeting to go under highchair but not sure what or where from.

[boast] I'm a proud older sister today - my sister has just found out she's won 2 prizes and also a scholarship at uni - she's at cambridge ( Envy of her brain)

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 19:37

reastie you can get plastic sheet things from Mothercare, I used them with Sofia. We have wooden floors so not that big a mess and a very helpful dog Grin Well done to your sister, that's a really big deal.

Anna had some Rich Tea biscuit today, Olivia gave it to her Grin, she lurved it. She also has a new trick, Mr W was feeding her and she was lifting her toys off the tray and firing them on the floor (she loves doing this, it's cute for the first 50 times Hmm) He put his hand out to catch them before they clattered to the floor, so she picked up one and switched hands and fired it down the side he wasn't on - cheeky madam.

Ah the rain has started, thats more like it Grin

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 19:42

Well done sister reastie! Envy chocoroo at London break! Well done Dilly with finger food. I think some people use old shower curtains on the floor as they are easy to bung in the wash. I'm still sweeping/cleaning up after every meal with the other two anyway so have lost any sense of house pride! Confused

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 19:43

lol at Anna - going to have her Dad wrapped round her little finger then!

Emski76 · 27/07/2011 19:44

Reastie, well done to your sis, brainy!
I used plastic mats with Ben, got them from Morrisons. They were quite thin but did the job.
Choc, enjoy your time in London. I have an image of R going round Buckingham Palace nodding her head and hmmmming at everything. I'm getting more and more convinced that I need a moby wrap. Guess I better try out my baba sling first!
Loving all the things our little ones say! Very cute!
I've put some more pics up of Ben and Noah.

debka · 27/07/2011 20:20

Golly I'm such a slattern, never put anything down on the floor, used to wait till it dried out then vacuum it up Blush now we have the canine hoover it doesn't get the chance to even hit the floor!

Actually I'm a bit less slattern-like now, have tidied all Imy's toys into her room, and she has to put one away before she gets another out which has made a massive difference.

reastie well done your sis :)

choc woohoo trip to the big smoke, v Envy of you seeing The Dress. What hold do you have R in? S has been in the Joey hold.

ems naked photo!! And is that one of you new? You look lovely :)

delia that's funny about C and the plans! We have a photo of Imy studying a Conservative Party leaflet at election time last year when she was about 14mo.

ledkr · 27/07/2011 20:40

nor me Deb,i just clear it up or leave it for dh to.It is a flipping mess tho.
Just fell asleep feeding Dilly her bed bottle,do you ever feel like you never quite catch up.
Just watching jo frost and feeling inadequate,mn seem to dislike her but i really like her methods,i use them in my work.

janedoe25 · 27/07/2011 20:45

Well done to your sis reastie I bet you are all very proud!

Grin at all the intelectual babies.

emski fab photos.

debka no where near the wait yet, im only on cd 7 so the swi has just commenced.
Df told me earlier that he will be working away again all next week! Im so angry and upset, we will never make a baby at this rate! Sad

janedoe25 · 27/07/2011 20:48

I like jo frost too, i use her time out techniques at work when the kids misbehave, it works a treat along with the reward charts. Its amazing how you can bribe kids with a sticker Grin

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 20:57

debka ah the beauty of having a dog Grin

Ledkr and jane I quite like Jo Frost as well, I know what is it with stickers Hmm I used a reward chart once with S when she was a lot younger, she loved it.

emski love the photos, is it just me or has Ben got really big lately?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 27/07/2011 21:00

Evening everyone,

Some very funny 'old before their time' actions happening. B sometimes wrings his hands together in the manner of lady Macbeth but my brother thinks he looks like a bank manager when he's at the table.

reastie that's amazing about your sister, she must be super intelligent! Good for her!

I'm having payback for my brilliant Monday and Tuesday as B has come down with an almighty cold. Proper eyes streaming and can't breathe properly when feeding etc. He had a rash on his face this pm so took him to the doctors only to be told its normal and not to worry. Have just sent OH out for one of those bogey sucking things (sorry for being so descriptive, don't know what they're called and really hope that's what OH asks for! Grin) at the late night chemists as he's so bunged up and the saline drops just aren't doing it.

Food wise, go Dilly with her Jaffa cake! B was none too impressed with cauliflower today but I've made loads of it and it's in the freezer so he's going to have to get used to it, along with sweet potato and carrots.
I've bought a 99p plastic heavy duty table cloth for under the highchair. Just how do you get rid of the stains on the harness straps? They're orange already and it's only been 5 days.
Oh better go as can hear B again Sad

ILovePonyo · 27/07/2011 21:05

Evening, am watching jo frost too ledkr she does get slated on mn but I like her, makes sense to me!

Well don't read this if you're worrying about babies gagging doing blw - gave dd some toast today, she was sucking and chewing away but then started gagging so dp fished a big bit of toast out of the back of her mouth and she screamed and cried loads, real tears :( Having done a bit of mn research I think gagging is ok/to be expected but it was a bit scary (pfb) plus I think it prob freaked her out more having dp stick his finger in her gob to get the toast out. Anyone else found this? Feel like we may have overreacted now Confused

emski love the photos, especially the naked one, he looks v happy naked as is dd, she also rolls around a lot better that way :)

Borg I don't mind, A gets mistaken for a boy quite often! I will be using the phrase 'pubingtons' in the future Grin

MizK Shock at the tooth, think dd may have one on the way, do you use the baby drugs teething powders? They work pretty well I think anyway. Boo to the night feeds still!

jane your nephew sounds hilarious, love that you had to call him Elvis Grin

choco enjoy your dinner out, hope you go somewhere nice :)

delia hope singing goes well and reastie massive congrats to your sister - brainy!

I am loving the 'old before their time' baby stories, more please! dd just seems to squeal louder and louder the more she concentrates.

ledkr I notice sometimes I feel tired giving A her bottle even when I'm not tired if that makes sense, think it might be an automatic thing relating back to night feeds?!

Sorry havn't replied to all, have been reading just not posting.

ILovePonyo · 27/07/2011 21:10

Eek you've all just posted loads since I started mine!

Needto you have reminded me, I bought some cheapo ice cube trays from aldi, filled them with lovely mushed up veg and fruit then the bloody things snapped when I tried to get the cubes of mush out Angry That'll teach me for trying to save money Grin Hope B feels better soon, that sounds rough poor thing.

jane boo to your df working away, you'll make that baby soon enough don't worry, must be frustrating though.

Better remember to stick up on stickers in a few years then... Grin

reastie · 27/07/2011 21:21

deb I love your comments on emss naked photo - it makes it sound like there's a naked photo of ems up on her profile Shock Wink

What are these plastic sheets for under high chair called? I've looked on mothercare under sheet and mat and can't find them Hmm

choc spill the goss on the dress - was it really as teeny tiny and kate katherine looks?

jane :( for your df being away at the important time again

Yes, I'm v proud of sister reastie (said in a brother ledkr like way). I'm hoping if alice hangs around with her alot the brains will rub off on her Hmm , but then, it didn't work with me Wink

I think jo frost is pretty good (from my limited knoweldge). Why does mn not like her?

needto love the thought of your OH asking for bogey clearing device Grin poor ben, hope he feels better soon and you get some sleep

ponyo that's exactly why I'm scared of blw

off to get aliceingtons as she's cryingtonsems

ledkr · 27/07/2011 21:22

Gosh can i just cut and paste ponyos post, she remembered everyone.
Reastie well done on the bright sister, mine are both like that and went to uni whereas i got my degree in work place so never aknowledged,im just baba black sheep.
jane Can i suggest baby oil,ice cube trays, freezer and turkey baster? Ok ok i know im vile but im old,im allowed to be eccentric.
needto im with you on the high chair straps,i have the most beautiful pale pink highchair,i think a scrub with a nail brush is the only answer, you'd think they,d make them different wouldnt you? Sorry to hear about the cold,i stil have mine, its worse in the morning and i have the most annoying tickly cough.

ledkr · 27/07/2011 21:23

im not being funny, but what is it with the plastic sheet thing? What is the difference between cleaning that and a floor?

wigglesrock · 27/07/2011 21:30

reastie they're in the highchair section, called splash mats £9.99 Shock

ledkr I was a bit pfb with Sofia, and had carpet Grin

See cheap Ikea highchair, no straps to clean, just one round waist and even A can't spit food that far. I had a v expensive highchair with the other 2, it was an expensive lesson Grin

tadjennyp · 27/07/2011 21:32

I think with the mats, the blw babies can chuck their food on the floor mat and you can pick it up and give it to them again, then bung mat into the washing machine. If you can take the straps off your highchair I'd put them in the washer too.

Sorry about colds. Supernanny in the US is really quite funny as they seem to look up to her. Must be her posh English accent Grin

Sorry about df being away Jane. Sad

reastie · 27/07/2011 21:33

oh my - alice has just discovered the 'fun' of rolling from back to front - she's been doing it alot for a couple of days but now does it in her cot and gets stuck on her front. dh has had to put her back on her back 20 times i the last 15 mins Confused . Is there a way of keeping her on her back/side? she's also using her newfound strength to refuse to sit back in her car seat when being put in it (she sort of pushes her head forward in a 'get me out of here' way. Her strength has suddenly got incredible Shock
