debka · 20/07/2011 06:51

Morning everyone,

I wish I didn't have to go to bed so early, I miss out on all the chat!

Grin at all the embarrassing stories!

hubbard sorry you can't do your course, but I'm glad you can get funding for a degree course, sounds v interesting. I never went to uni and wonder if when the girls are a bit older if I'll be able to study some more. My brain feels underused.

reastie hope your night went ok. TBH it does sound like Alice is ready for some food if she is feeding that frequently during the day, although she does sleep through the night doesn't she, so she'll need to stock up for that. S is feeding every 3-4 hours day and night ATM, tis wearing, but she only likes ice cream Grin

choc what was HP like? I can't wait to see it but I can't leave S for long enough ATM Angry

Well our night was better I suppose, a feed at 9.45, 1.30, 3.45 then a little suck at 5 to settle her back down (I know it's a bad habit but I'm too tired for crying!), wake up at 6.20. I didn't sleep that great though, think I only managed about 6 hours. And my dad and stepmum are visiting today too, I'll need to summon some energy up from somewhere to cope with them.

janedoe25 · 20/07/2011 07:27

Morning girls,

hubbard that sounds fab! Im excited for you Grin

debka enjoy your day with your dad and step-mum.

Things are good with df, was a case of drunken misunderstanding!

ILovePonyo · 20/07/2011 08:09

morning all, a good night here from dd, i am very grateful after reading about some of the ridiculous nights people have had recently. Does anyone get paranoid about baby not breathing and check all the time, I swear I nearly woke her up last night prodding and checking. They breathe so shallow-ly when fast asleep!

reastie we also lived in v white area and when I was little my mum and I were on the bus and I turned around and kept pointing at a black man sat behind us saying "mummy why has that man got a brown face?" My poor mum kept trying to shush me and I just got louder apparently Grin

ledkr I just burst out laughing at 'dirty old man' and dd looked at me funny Hmm

I saw some pics of Orlandos baby with la giraffe and the first thing I thought of was this thread :)

hubbard we use Ashton and Parsons baby drugs powders, I can send you some if you want? Course sounds fab, I did sociology degree and loved (most of) it - wish I'd spent more time studying and less being general student and getting pissed Blush

deb glad your night was a bit better (although it still sounds exhausting to me) good luck for today.

Am off to scour pound shops for baby bowls and spoons etc - got to do something productive so may as well drag it out Grin Just had the car MOT'd and it needs a new tyre boo, oh well could be worse. Hope everyone has a good day xx

Emski76 · 20/07/2011 08:36

Morning all. Am lying on bed with Noah waiting for him to get sleepy so we can nap together. He is currently rolling around and having a good nose! So thought I'd take the opportunity to post.
Hubbard, well done on OU course. I've done two years of a degree with them. Stopped when Ben was born but am hoping to continue at some point.
We use Boots own make teething powders, can vouch for them. They always worked with Ben.
After a week of constant wake ups with Noah, the last two nights have been much better and he's even stayed in his cot all night. I think his cold is worse but it's all loose so he can breathe easier plus we can use the sucker. It was great fun this morning, I managed to get so much out. Very satisfying!
All this talk of Sophie is making me want to buy sone stuff. Don't want Noah to be left out!
Sorry to all I haven't responded to,
Oh yuk, Noah just sneezed and is everywhere!

reastie · 20/07/2011 08:48

morning

all this talk of la giraffe - those who have one - is the pattern coming off at all? We've now got bits where the spots/eye/ear pattern is coming off probably from where i clean it too much Blush . If everyones do this then fair enough, but if mine is dodge then I need to know so I can go moaning to amazon about it

ledkr Shock Grin to dirty old man

jane glad things are back on track with df

jenny sounds like you had a lovely afternoon

deb glad the night was a bit better

hubbard that ou course sounds v interesting indeed. My mum did a pt ou degree when I was little.

choc you should change your nn to chocaraffe not chocoroo with all the sophie stuff you have Wink

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 09:34

reastie Our Sophies spots come off too if you rub them and I don't clean it Blush

hubbard vv exciting re OU, I'm a bit Envy, I went to University after A-levels for 2 years, didn't like it at all, my mum made me go!! Nothing worse than an aspirational mother who expects you to do the things she didn't get a chance to Sad. I have Ashton powders too, my next door neighbour gave them to me, her little boy is about 5 months older than Anna so she has thrown in nappies, teething powders etc that she doesn't need any more. She told me Ashtons had got very expensive so I think I'll try Boots, thanks emski for tip.

ILovePonyo we call a Sociology degree a "drinkers degree" here, my sister did one, Mr W did an English Language degree much more useful Grin, he gets the opportunity to do loads of extra degrees, diplomas with work. But might have to take a back seat, he's got the opportunity to apply for CID in a few months but he'll have to sit an exam so its study, study, study!!

On the subject of children being embarassing, we lived in Africa as toddlers, my sister was 3 when we came back and she used to spent lunch times kissing Trevor McDonald on the tv when he was doing the news as he reminded her of being back there Grin.

jane glad things are good, now to accidentally break the X Box Grin

americanexpat · 20/07/2011 11:55

I think I've started 3 posts in as many days and haven't finished them. Hmm

Good luck to everyone starting studies soon. It's so exciting, isn't it?

jane - glad you and DF have talked.

ponyo - I check that L is breathing every time I pass the bedroom. Fortunately he snores a bit so I don't have to prod him.

More dodgy sleep here. He really resists sleeping during the day so cries and cries until he suddenly decides it's time to sleep. Hmm No idea what his problem is, he's so clearly tired but won't sleep (same with the 5am wakings).

NeedToSleepZZZ · 20/07/2011 12:50

hello everyone, i am just going through the motions today after the worst night ever with b. after sleeping through (sort of) from 12 weeks, he has decided night time is time for grizzling and throwing himself around and this is the third night of NO sleep. haven't even got the energy to get dressed and need to pop to asda, can i please go in my pjs???? i'm going to work tomorrow for a few hours and dreading it if i feel like this.

sorry, rant over Hmm. i really hope all of you having similarproblems are seeing some improvement, this will pass....

debka · 20/07/2011 13:43

reastie you wash toys??!! Shock Don't think i've ever washed a toy in my life, although i occasionally sweep the dog hairs off S's dalek Grin We're all healthy as oxes here though, may just be good fortune though!

wiggles that is so sweet about Trevor McDonald Smile

needto much zympathy for your rotten nights, it's soul destroying isn't it.

jane thanks, but it will be an endurance test, don't get on that well with my dad unfortunately, he's Hard Work. Better than pils though! Glad you and DF are ok again, it can be scary when these things happen.

Been domestic goddess again today, cleaned living room and kitchen (carefully avoiding all toys!), made 2 cakes, a plum crumble and cannelloni for tea.

Hi to everyone else, hope you're having good days :)

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 13:48

NeedToSleep We're a fan of Tescos Calpol here too Grin To balance it up as well as all the hugely inappropriate comments you also get the first school play, school report and the first unforced cuddle, I love you etc. Sorry about Ben last night, Anna still not sleeping through, so afraid old tired eyes are starting to smart here, but Mr W is off from this evening until Monday Grin so he's on night duty here tonight!! Hope work goes well tomorrow.

reastie · 20/07/2011 13:49

needto and american sympathise re lack of sleep - we had a terrible night the night before last Confused good luck at work tomorrow needto - shall be thinking of you. Is it a full day?

Can I just have a massive mini rant? Today is not going well - started out my GP thinks I will have to have my coil out as it's not agreeing with me. I have some anti spasmodic drugs which apparently are my last hope at keeping it. If it has to come out I am pretty much out of options other than abstinence Shock . Then, I go to put some milk in the freezer to find dh accidently unplugged it last night to use his laptop - which means all my hours of baking this week end for my mums big bday cake and various bits for christening lunch are ruined :( [sob] . I am so Angry .

Off to bake more cakes....

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 13:50

debka xposted - the plum crumble sounds absolutely gorgeous, I blow the dog hair off As toys, its easier Grin

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 13:53

reastie thats terrible re freezer, I'll be the first to say it - what kind of a clampet unlugs the freezer Grin Fingers crossed re anti spasmodic drugs - when will you know? I'm assuming condoms are out because of latex reaction.

MizK · 20/07/2011 13:56

Oh la la, so much Sophie love going on here..... We are obv tres unchic as Cassia's fave toy at the min is a silicone pastry brush (weirdo).

needto sorry you had a rubbish night its awful isnt it, hope the little rascal gives you a better night tonight.

Stories of inappropriate childish outbursts are v funny - my older two still do it to me - and actually when Cass was about 4 weeks old I was feeding her in a silent reception area at tennis when she decided to let off several deafening farts which no one would have believed could be from a baby - I tried to make it clear that it was her but I think it looked as though I protested too much!So the embarassment can start any time ladies!

choco how was Harry Potter? So excited to see it....

Thanks for support re going back to college, I'll be doing a year long access course so I can study teaching at uni next Sept. Mountains of debt here I come.... Although I can def only do it if I get help with nursery fees from somewhere, going to ring the tax credit people soon and see if they might stump up a little bit if I work too, worth an ask?

hubbard your course sounds good, are you looking forward to starting? How funny that a couple of months ago none of us would have had the energy even to consider starting something new, we've come a long way babies.....!

reastie · 20/07/2011 13:57

deb I am a bit toy washing obsessive - if it looks like it's touched the ground outside or if another child has been near it I have to clean it Blush . I'm better than I was though - I used to wash them if they dropped on the floor in the house Hmm

jane how is the dreaded fil?

wiggles Grin to trevor mcdonald

right, that's enough wasting time, these cakes arn't going to make themselves

janedoe25 · 20/07/2011 14:13

Oh no reastie! Thats shit about the freezer! But the domestic godess that you are you will have it filled in no time!

needto and american sorry your bad nights, sending some sleepy baby vibes to you. Oh and good luck with work tomorrow.

debka the crumble sounds delish!

Fil is fine reastie, he is loving the attention and the re-telling of his overdose illness, tosser!
Hope the drugs work for your coil.

ledkr · 20/07/2011 14:20

Hello, have read you all but too many to reply indivisually cos need to clear up and go on the school trudge for the penultimate time this term Hoorah!!
Had a shit night here, silly dilly woke at 3 for no apparent reason,i gave her calpol and milk but she just didnt go back off so had a strop at 5am and dh got up,she went back to sleep in her pram and he slept down here for a bit.I felt abit guilty cos he has work but i have a cold too and just cant be dealing with it,what is the matter with these babies?
Dilly liked her mesh feeder-oh for about 5 mins, she then started to thrash it about spraying nectarine juice all over the place so i removed it.
My degree is in social science,i used to fall asleep during the sociology therory cos had usually been to student night the previous evening,i perfected the art of sleeping behind my hand Grin
Funny about you lot starting new things, today i decided i will probably go back to work in October as i am a tad bored and need the dosh.
We bought some charity shop toys yesterday and they are currently on the side awaiting washing, ill probably just give them to her eventually tho haha.
Re Sophie la giraffe, the lady in jojo agreed they are a rip off which i found hillarious.
reastie sorry about the coil,it looks like it may be you next then Grin
mizk Delilahs farts are adult sized too,i never know whether to say anything or not.
i remembered two more funny stories too..Ds1 once stood next to a disabled car and asked loudly if he could have some money to go on it?
Ds3 was in the waiting room at the drs and asked my sis what "chumlidia" was.Seeing my sisters distress he continued to say "chumlidia" over and over before ripping the word off the leaflet and sticking it to his forehead and saying "ive got chumlidia" over and over, she was nearly in tears when i came out of the drs-she was 17 at the time.

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 14:42

ledkr Grin Grin at your ds3 and sister. I'm going back to work 8 November, nothing else for it!

reastie all round to yours for a cakeathon then xx

jane you'd think fil would realise how lucky he is - plank

We are hoping to get to see Harry Potter next week but waiting on my mum double checking babysitting dates. Mr W tres excited.

ledkr · 20/07/2011 14:50

I dont really wish to see h potter cos i feel its a kids film.Is it me?
Can highly recommend the lovely bones on c4 sunday night tho.

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 14:54

Oooh hark at Victor Mature Grin, I loved the book of the Lovely Bones but haven't seen the film, I think its one of those fims where I like everyone in it Grin

reastie · 20/07/2011 15:03

Cake batch number one in oven Grin

Is the lovely bones the one (without giving much away) about a man who kidnapped a child? If so, seen that one. I sort of want to watch the hp films but always come away bored and disappointed Hmm

ledkr I did laugh at the clamydia thing - your poor sister!

mizk teacher eh? You know there are a few of us on this thread here for any questions Grin (well, I am anyway)

ledkr have you found a cheap place in cornwall yet? we've still had no joy finding somewhere to go on holiday

ledkr · 20/07/2011 15:10

haha victor mature-too bloody mature love.
Its about a girl who is kidnapped yes.Im not keen on all the disney films either im always a bit Hmm when the childless woman at work says "ooh im off to see nemo this weekend" I feel like saying did you know its aimed at kids not 48 yr old obese woman?God im vile today.
Oh fuck the school sprintrun

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 15:15

ledkr I'm the same with animated films, friends keep talking about the animation etc and I'm a bit - but its a cartoon Hmm. To steal Chandler from Friends joke - what so sad about Bambi - they just stopped drawing his mum?.

janedoe25 · 20/07/2011 15:33

I cant wait to see hp, hopefuly going tonight! Im a bit of a sucker for kids films Blush My dad cries at bambi wiggles!

I really dont want to get my hopes up but im not sure what is going on with AF. I only have a very very slight pinky/browny blood only really visible when wiping. I had the same with Zoe and im hoping and wishing it is an implantation bleed. I have had no other normal AF symptoms, i normally have a raging headache, a touch of the runs and mega cramp. I only had some slight cramping.Confused and very hopeful! I will try and wait until the weekend to test though..............

wigglesrock · 20/07/2011 15:36

Grin at janes dad - when are you due?
