Jane feel for you, not sure what was going through DFs mind but it all sounds very upsetting, hope you are okay
crap sleepers corner sorry to most of us with 5 month olds sleeping like 5 week olds at the moment. I'm staying with my parents this week and me and Nate are in my old bedroom which is strange. He has had his own room for the past few weeks and I'd forgotten how loud he was, and that he appears to spend large parts of the night wide awake and throwing toys about in his cot.
need to crawling ??! N is nowhere near, he spends tummy time with his face buried in a pile of dribble and making constipated sounds. Bless, him, he spent 20 minutes today today intently kneading my tummy fat, little thickie.

Random question, Nate has started screaming during his bath, he's always loved it and we even used to put him in the bath when he was screaming for no apparent reason as it always calmed him down. DH is gutted as, pour soul, it is DHs only job (like when Chandler made cranberry sauce in Friends), just wondered if anyone had anything similar or knew why?

reastie · 19/07/2011 15:56

borg shouldn't that be chanberry sauce Wink , no idea but alice is a weirdo with baths - some days she loves them and others she loves it. When she had a phase of screaming the house down with baths we got her to love them again by getting in the bath with her (not dh and me, just one of us Wink ), she seems to like that Hmm

reastie · 19/07/2011 15:56

I mean some days she loves it and others she hates it Shock - shouldn't write posts with a baby screaming in my ear

WeAreBorg · 19/07/2011 16:44

reastie I like the way you wrote that the first time Grin, you're right they are weirdos, just feel bad for poor DH, will have to give him another job!

reastie · 19/07/2011 17:41

evening baby massage borg ? my dh specialises in that (i mean i could do it better natch but i like him to feel important and that he does it best Wink )

Four4me · 19/07/2011 18:30

reastie you will be having the sanitary product conversation before you know it. The summer before last we were on a day out and it was time to all go to the loo, my friend had left so I had to take all three of them in with me. Imogen was in her baby car seat so it was a mega squash in the cubicle. I would normally have used the disabled one but you needed to go for a key. Anyway in we crammed and when it was my turn Thomas was having a chat with the woman in the next cubicle under the wall and Joseph suddenly exclaimed 'oh mummy you have a string coming out.!' when I'd been dragging T up J was having a good look! Blush I plan our toilet trips better now!

Congats on the first tooth to Nate. No sign with Archie but Thomas was 13 months when he got his first so we may be the last on the thread to get one! But A did 'bite' down today for the first time when I was feeding. Bloody hell it was awful. If he had a tooth I would have jumped off the chair yelling. Hope it is a one off.

Borg I second getting in the bath with him, love to bath with the kids when I've time, but the boys are getting a bit big now Sad

tadjennyp · 19/07/2011 19:41

hello all! Was a busy day here yesterday as S cut two front teeth at the same time! I hope he doesn't start biting when i'm feeding him! He was a bit grumpy but he's happy today and trying to roll back to front. Congratulations Nate on the first tooth!

Re: tampons. Apparently I loudly told my Mum in the supermarket that when I was older (I was 3) I would shove them up my bum too! That's one of those stories that parents like to trot out! Blush Grin

Hello needto!

Well done wiggles on the popup shop. Sounds like a task from the Apprentice! Grin

Jane, blokes are just different and the good ones don't generally mean to hurt you.

Excited for your studying MizK! It will be a great example to Cass when she's older and more importantly you'll have a blast.

I hope all the babies have been good tonight, especially Alice and NateBorg! It's about lunch time here so will have to fetch the older two from pre-school shortly.

It's taken my 3 hours to write this so apologies for missing anyone out.

debka · 19/07/2011 19:53

Exciting news on teeth, well done babies :)

Imy got her first tooth at 4mo so I've been expecting one for a while, don't know why though, she's nothing like her sister except in looks.

44me S is a champion biter, it's agony isn't it! I'd also forgotten just how flexible my nipples were Hmm

ledkr dinner was ace tonight, thanks for the inspiration! We had fruit salad for pudding too.

S had a feed tonight before bed which was nice, here's hoping she sleeps better as a result

ILovePonyo · 19/07/2011 20:10

Hi all! Good god, teeth already Shock I can vouch for the hippy teething powders, or as me and dp like to call them the 'baby drugs' as the are white and come in a wrap of paper haha Grin

deb I have fingers and toes crossed for you too...

jane that did sound a bit weird about your dp but like something I can imagine my dp doing in the same situation, its easy to get things mixed up sometimes, hope you guys are ok now. No more Wine for a while then!

hope the rest of your day goes smoothly :)

reastie I am going to try getting in the bath with dd, not done that before - why didn't I think of it?! Sounds lovely! Borg sometimes when dd is overtired she screams in her bath, and then even more when we get her out Confused

Right got to go and sort stuff out, but heres my exciting news, dd has some stewed apple today and loved it, so mich better than that boring old baby rice Grin

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 20:40

Hi, Anna is asleep eventually, she was really out of sorts this evening, ended up giving her a wrap of teething powder ( Grin Ponyo), that's exactly what they look like, Mr W keeps threatening to take them away and have work "look at them" Grin.

Sofia loved her bath as a baby, Olivia didn't and Anna is completely indifferent to the whole process, seriously she has a real whatever face on when she is bathed, she gets dipped in with the other two and they love it!!

pussinglad Anna had some Ellas kitchen for dinner, yup she loved it, not a drop spilt, none spat up, think she has a new favourite.

Well done Nate and Samuel Grin, Sofia had her first tooth at 6 months and Olivia had hers 2 weeks after her first birthday!! so not sure how Anna will go.

debka hope tonight is peaceful!!, tadjennyp have a lovely afternoon.

reastie · 19/07/2011 20:45

Right so if this thread is approx a national tally for weaning then pretty much everyone is starting before 6 months, right? It's just I'm getting the feeling Alice is getting desperate for proper food and I'm a meanie not giving it to her but I've been trying to hold out until the 6 months mark like I feel I've been told to Hmm . She just feeds with such gusto all evening like she's starving hungry when she's only just eaten an hour or less ago Hmm . I'm finding it really draining feeding wise.

ponyo enjoy the bath Grin

deb Shock to the nipple biting. Alice has been a little bit gnashy but no actual proper bites. Fingers crossed tonight is a good'un. I already have a dh in bed asleep next door and an alice lying on my bed next to me wide awake as usual Confused

jenny Grin to the teeth

I am Shock at all these children tampon stories. I remember asking mum what a virgin was repeatidly and very loudly when I was about 7 as I had heard the older girls talking about it - that's the most Blush story I can recal. 44me your story is quite mortifying Hmm

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 20:53

reastie Ah nothing will embarass you more than your own children - we had a nice one last week. I got out of the shower last week and Olivia was lurking about - "Mummy, why's your bottom hairy?" "No, it's not", "Yes Mummy, look there, there" Of course Mr W then informed me later that day that when he was out in the car with her she informed him that "mummy has a hairy bottom", I suppose we can just be thankful she kept that particular information from my mil or the whole of Tescos Grin

reastie · 19/07/2011 20:59

Grin Grin Shock wiggles

Four4me · 19/07/2011 21:19

reastie you will soon become desensitized to small people trying to embarrass you. Asking questions loudly in public places 'mummy why is that man/lady so fat/thin/black/white etc' 'mummy is that lady having a baby?' in public loos 'mummy do you need a poo?' 'mummy I just heard someone trumping!' or telling strangers personal information a la wiggles has a hairy bum! the list is endless. Everyone has stories of what their little one has said. And you will NOT escape.

reastie · 19/07/2011 21:23

haha 44me you just reminded me of something I said when I was younger: 'mummy, why do black people all look the same?' Blush Blush Shock Blush . My poor mum looked so worried/embarrassed Wink . I hasten to add I don't still think that of course. I blame growing up in a pretty much all white middle class area Hmm . You could write a great cringeworthy book on these things couldn't you Grin

ledkr · 19/07/2011 22:00

jane my dh is very loving to me but will back off if im very upset.I understood this more when Dilly was ill and he cried in front of Ella and my friend cos he hated seeing me so distraught,id been thinking he wasnt that bothered as remained stoic.Df probably finds your grief overwhelming along with his own.So sorry for you both xx

wiggles i have pm.d you btw. You can wax your crack you know Grin
Ive had the string thing 44 and ds1 called me from the back of the bus once to inform me that he was "not sitting by you Mummy, ill sit here next to this dirty old man" whilst sitting next to a perfectly clean man in his early 30's Blush
You wait till they are older and want to talk sex with you,i thought i was a cool mum till then.

Dilly had some ice cream today but laughed in the face of baby rice.
I managed to get a mesh feeder from jojo where they also sell a range of different Sophie the extortionate giraffe products.

deb how was your copycat dinner love? We had jacket potatoes and chilli and it were well noice.Dilly was in bed by 7 as she was a moaning minnie so god knows what time my day will start.

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 22:07

Grin Grin ledkr, I still haven't given up on Sophie, Anna had a little gnaw the other day, but I saw Orlando Blooms giant baby with one (not in real life you understand Grin) and as long as the slebs are still using them, I'll keep foisting Sophie on Anna, although her new best friend, our dog, hates the squeak. We had chilli for dinner too!!! Got the pm.

ledkr · 19/07/2011 22:24

If you played your cards right you could have a squeaky one,a soft one,a rattle one and a teething one, you'd spend a fortune whereas a packet of savory rice is under a quid and serves as a meal too.
Watching Gordon Ramsay he swears more than me haha

ledkr · 19/07/2011 22:26

hehe,im not speaking to dh,we didnt text each other today which is unusual,he just got in and came sidling up to MY room, mooching about and thanking me for dinner,i ignored him as i typed furiously Grin

Four4me · 19/07/2011 22:28

ledkr so so funny about the dirty old man. Am chuckling at that.!

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 22:28

I quite like the bath toy one Blush, oooh ice queen ledkr Grin Anna is still continuing her quest for the perfect packet of babywipes to squish!!

chocoroo · 19/07/2011 22:52

ledkr and wiggles Is now a good time to admit we have an original Sophie teether, a Sophie bath toy (it's awesome!) and some Sophie soft building block things. I have also developed a bad habit of only asking where Sophie is in French.

Sorry to hear all your teething woes, we're definitely in the gang too. I went to watch HP7.2 all alone this evening and when I got home DP was pacing the house with a very sad R. We've dosed her up with calpol and put her back down but she's wide awake, chewing on the hard bit of her dummy and grinning at us at every opportunity. Silly baby.

Next stop....baby crack!

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 22:56

chocoroo I knew that bath toy would be fab!! Ps you can also get Sophie la Giraffe car sun screens, they are yummy but with Sofia and Olivia sunscreens only lasted about 30 mins, they seemed to use them as a hoist to try and pull themselves up out of their car seats Shock

hubbard86 · 20/07/2011 00:36

my sister once took a condom into school thinking it was a water balloon. Imagine my dads face when he went to collect her and the teacher pulled him into her office Blush Grin
Have found out i can't do my courses in sept as i can't get the funding (f goverment cuts) so i've enrolled to do a open university degree in social sciences, crime and sociology, as i can be fully funded. Starts oct will prob take me 5yrs instead of 3 as it's part time but i might a well do something to occupy my mind that doesn't consist of 'where's my socks' or 'whats for dinner' . Never thought i'd even contemplate doing a degree, just a tiny bit scared and excited at the same time.

Which teething powders do you use?? I used ashton and parsons with ds but i can't get them anymore.

tadjennyp · 20/07/2011 01:14

V exciting news hubbard! Hope it goes really well.
Afternoon was lovely, thanks! Picked up dh for lunch for a rare treat, then went to a friend's for coffee and as it was sunny went to the park afterwards. A & E are now next door on their trampoline and S is asleep. Sadly I used my friend's scales and have put on a few pounds so I'm off to walk up a big hill in town with some friends this evening.

I haven't given S any food either reastie so you are not alone. He's 24 weeks on Saturday so I will hold out till at least then so dh can be there for his first meal too! He can't sit up all that well in his high chair yet though and I wanted to try him on our food. We'll see.

Agreed wiggles and 44me about embarrassing children! Grin

Has dh got into your good books again ledkr?

Better cook dinner now if I want to go for a walk later. Sending sleepy vibes your way. Smile
