ILovePonyo · 18/07/2011 20:19

Thanks reastie Grin

ledkr we don't force the bottle cos she just cries more, I also hand her over to dp to feed her when shes stressing me out, sometimes the change of person can be good (i think). Grin at bloody kids :)

wiggles yep A loves the cats and was chuckling away at my sis's dog at the weekend, it was funny though because the dog was there all day but she didn't seem to notice, then all of a sudden it was as if she spotted him and started giggling and panting, funny girl. Your poor dog, our ctas have the same problem, I feel sorry for docile animals being hounded by grabbing babies :)
I wondered if dd is bored of her boring old milk too but tough, she still needs it! Enjoy your evening of fun Wink

Right got to get off internet now and get myself to bed v soon, night all xx

40Weeks · 18/07/2011 20:51

Hello ladies

I have been lurking in an attempt to catch up with all your news.

Poor debka with the sleep. I hope tonight is better for you, I hate the sound of their cry just as you drift off.

Who is it that mentioned hippy dippy teething powders? They do work I swear! Many a time they have settled a whingy baby, not sure of it's just the actual powder or dimly a distraction but I think they are great.

wiggles glad your sis scan went well and the hospital appt was ok. What wondrous knowledge had Mr W imparted to you this eve then? Anything we need to know?

Delia hope the weather is picking up for you

My three boys have a cold today, just as we got over the pox

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 18/07/2011 21:15

40Weeks shite about boys having a cold. Olivia has a cold working on her and she was in rare form today Hmm "No, I don't want to.." being the constant refrain today.

Mr W was mostly doing baby cpr and choking today, but its the same bits and pieces I remember from the antenatal class I did 6 years ago! I have hippy dippy teething powders, have only used them once so far. My local chemist makes up its own teething medicine, they come from far and wide for it Grin.

chocoroo · 18/07/2011 22:06

40 'twas I mentioning the hippy dippy teething powders. Cracked one earlier and she did seem to calm. My problem is that DP is a scientist and I'm a pragmatist - we both know full well that homeopathy is a load of baloney...however there's a lot to be said for the old sugar pills :)

Sorry to hear bout the cold..it's one thing after another with these kids. Anyone know how long the warranty on them is for?!

wiggles Now tell me, if a baby is choking do I just tip her upside down til she vomits everywhere? That was my tactic when R gagged on some baby rice...

ponyo R ignored mum's dog the first couple of times they met but now tries to smoother her. Will be amusing soon to get picture of small baby riding lunatic Labrador.

I'm curled up in bed as had a bit of shouting already due to teeth. But in other news, R has perfected siting up today. She is very impresse with herself and I am such a proud mummy! Grin

hubbard86 · 18/07/2011 22:52

the amazing sleeping baby continues, after sleeping 7-6 bottle 6.30-8.30, 11-12-30, 12.45-2, 3-5.30 bed at 7.30. I am starting to get a little worried she's sleeping too much, especially as hearing about other babies she's definatley not normal. Already sleeping like a teenager at 5 months.
Ponyo, freyas not bothered by our dog at all, sometimes looks very confused she'd much rather watch daddy or thomas.
Well done R good luck with the teeth choc.
Glad A is ok wiggles, nice to know i can impart a little useful knowledge.
Freyas fussing with bottles too i think its to do with wanting proper food but we're only offering her a little fruit and veg mixed with rice 3 times a day. Yet she still looks for more.

reastie · 19/07/2011 07:27

o h m y g o o d n e s s

deb is poor sleep catching via tinternet like ledkrs cold? We had our worst night last night since she was born. She was up and screaming for literally hours several times last night [yawn]. Big tears type screams which nothing would stop. We tried calpol and teething gel as well as the usual comforts. Ni idea what it was - all we can think is either teething or she's getting my bug. I wish they could tell us as it's so frustrating. She had 2 runny poos yesterday - it's not my imagination that they say that's teething don't they? But I can't really spot other teething symptoms other than being unsettled. I had to let her suck my finger last night as it shut her up for a while and I did notice it was the first time she started to chew a bit as opposed to suck though Hmm

deb how was your night last night? Hope it was better than last night

hubard according to my hv babies can be really different in sleep needs/patterns. She says they are just like adults in that they are completely different in how much they need/when they sleep etc. But, do'nt let that put you off getting it checked out

choc very impressive re: sitting up Grin

Pussinglads · 19/07/2011 07:32

Grrr. You know when you spend ages steaming veg and making and freezing purees and the baby seems to like it? And then one evening you give her packet food (an Ella's sachet) and the baby properly LOVES it? Crying for more, grunting between mouthfuls, huge smiles, no need for a bib cos it's being demolished? Annoying, isn't it?

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 08:48

hubbard that's exactly how Sofia used to sleep, she also went through a stage of going to bed at 5.30pm and sleeping until 6.30am Grin with 2 big naps in the day. She's 6 and even now she would rarely wake up during the night, if she does, its always a sign that she's actually sick not just being a chancer!

Pussinglads Yup, i gave Anna some pureed carrots etc that other day, made from my own sweet hand, she liked it - yesterday I opened a jar of carrot and something else orangey and she didn't waste a drop, also grunting and kicking her legs in excitement Shock

chocoroo Nope , but I do remember when Sofia choked on something I stood frozen in our living room, repeating please get it out, until I had the gumption to actually lift her and do something proactive. Of course as soon as I had lifted her out of her highchair she chucked it all over me Grin

You lie them face down between your wrist and elbow and two short sharp hits to the upper back or you lie them on their back and two CPR compressions to chest but that sounds harder!!

Weather is so bad here, everything is soaked and tempers are starting to fray, ps how bad is it to find your children exceptionally irritating Blush Its the fake voices they do when they play, may push me over the edge Grin

40Weeks · 19/07/2011 09:28

reastie and deb it's definitely catching, we had an awful night! Not just M either but the other two both woke up. Feel slightly manic this morning, M is hugely overtired and won't sleep without a cuddle.

pussinglads grr how dare they prefer packet food!

choc I think sometimes wonder if its just the actual gving of the teething powders helps calm them, regardless of whats in them

Oh wiggles I have been dreading the holidays, we finish up preschool this week, and all the sport and playgroup things we go to finish up, deserting us parents in our hour of need! Ahhhhhh

OP posts:
ledkr · 19/07/2011 09:30

no pussing i dont know what that is like cos Dilly hates food Grin
We had a good night but she is such a bloody figet esp towards the morning,i came down to the sofa about 5 mainly cos the urge o shout "stop f'ing wriggling" was getting strong. Have just sent amazon seller a snotty e mail cos her bumper stil hasnt arrived so have been unable to put her into her cot thus get some figet free rest.I had that thought this morning, the one where you realise that if you count pregnancy you havent slept well for more than year Shock
Ela is skiving today cos she was so upset about the swimming gala that i fidured i just couldnt be arsed to force her, this is a kid who frequently performs on stage in front of whole theatres but was scared of the swimming gala.

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 09:48

ledkr sssh, don't go down that slippery slope, I sat the other day and realised that I hadn't properly properly slept since Olivia was born, she's 4 in October!!! She only started to stay at my mums for the odd night when I was pregnant with Anna, and usually when I was working! Even when Mr W and I have been away for the odd night, I still haven't slept the best Grin. Poor Ella, is she ok? Have you had any luck in arranging a break away?

40Weeks I would pick up bits and pieces in the sales to put away for the girls for birthdays, Christmas and for emergencies. Afraid this morning I had to crack and bring out a pop up shop/tent thing I had bought in Tescos sale. They are upstairs now, with instructions to play quietly, I have had the worst headache since yesterday Sad

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/07/2011 11:25

Hello all!
Hope bugs are clearing up for everyone, it's bad enough being stuck indoors without that to contend with.
Huge apologies for my absence, been lurking on and off and started writing messages many times only to abandon them.
I can't believe it's been over a year since we last slept properly. B was up on and off from 11pm last night, I actually started laughing hysterically with OH by about 4am about our dreams of him knocking himself out and sleeping ( very bad mum!).
We are going to start weaning this weekend and I'm bit excited about it but off to buy a plastic tablecloth to decorate the kitchen floor with first.
Is anyone lo getting really frustrated with trying to crawl?it's getting to me as well now as B scrambles and scrambles but no progress and then starts screaming.
Missed you all and sorry again for my laziness lack of contact Grin

MizK · 19/07/2011 11:57

Hello all. Keep getting into a vicious cycle of forgetting to post then thread moves too fast for me to keep up with it all - yes, I'm generally pretty slow....
My house is a mess as I have been really busy the past week or so, so am grabbing ten mins MN time then kicking ass! Having a real stress fest as I think I'm going back to college in September - eek! Loads to sort out still like nursery and some form of evening job to pay the bills... At the risk of sounding like a wuss, I get really emotional when Ithink about leaving Cass for 4 days a week, I feel so close to her like we have this really special bond... anyone else feeling this way? But I know it would be a mistake to wait any longer before studying as I've put it off long enough.
Sorry for egocentric ramblings! Love to you all and hope little teethers are OK today.
wiggles hope headache goes away....

janedoe25 · 19/07/2011 12:43

Hi girls, hope the bugs are all getting better.

mizk what will you be studying?

Sorry for my drunken ramblings the other night Blush think i will be staying away from the wine now!

Hope everyone is ok.

Grin at wiggles emergency toy cupboard!

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 13:00

NeedToSleep how are you dong dang doing? Lovely to hear from you, you and B aren't on the stats, you were I think but must have had a cut and paste disaster Grin. Let us know weight, dob etc and I'll stick you in.

MizK headache actually gone, had to nip to Tescos and I think the nightmare of going around with all the girls made the headache seem painfree in comparison. What are you studying?

jane did you ramble? You're right, stay away from wine, stick to vodka Grin much yummier. You know me, I like to plan, I've always had an emergency toy drawer Grin

reastie · 19/07/2011 13:03

jane how are things with you and df now?

where is deb ? I'm wanting to know how last night went for her

wiggles hope the girls are playing quietly for you and head is OK.

Grin

mizk it's shocking how quickly the house turns in to a dump gets messy isn't it? I had a gleaming downstairs last week and then after a week end of feeling rubbish and not doing much it seems i have to start again from scratch Confused

over a year of bad sleep - yep, that is depressing. Here's hoping it gets better soon though Wine

when babies start to feed more often in the evening (ie every half hour) and never quite seeming satisfied, is that a sign of needing solids? Think we are getting close to opening the baby rice but dh and I trying to hold off at least a couple more weeks (just seems like more hassle and I haven't read up on how to wean yet Blush )

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/07/2011 13:13

hello wiggles and reastie Grin
jane i missed your drunken ramblings but hope things are better for you now the wine mist has cleared.
reastie i was told that about when they're not satisfied and start waking for feeds again after being content to sleep through before it means they're ready for solids but i've held off as there's no turning back is there? also a control freak who likes her kitchen clean I just figured that as B will be 6 months in under 2 weeksShock ShockShock I'd better not starve him or MIL will put me on some list! Wink

thanks for that wiggles, Ben was born 30/01/11 weighing in at 6lb 4oz (now 16lb 4oz, hence the backache)

debka · 19/07/2011 13:28

Not sure if night was better but I feel ok this morning. 11.30 feed, 1.30 feed, 3.15 woke up. Got her out of bed and she played with my phone, then we went into the bathroom and I read a book and she played with a rubber duck. She had a feed at 4.20 then back to sleep. 6am woke up again, quick suck then back to sleep till 8.

So she's just wide awake in the middle of the night, what is that about? Not unhappy, although she screams if I try and put her in her cot, just awake. Do you think it's one of those just go with it and she'll grow out of it things? I have no experience of this- Imy was (and is) a brilliant sleeper.

Having a nice peaceful day today, went to the Farmers Market and playground, now both girls asleep.

ledkr I have a chicken, potatoes, cream, veg in the fridge- guess what we're having for tea?

pussing lads Bina doesn't like food either Grin, although she grabbed my hand when I had a biscuit today and jammed it in her mouth!

Right, I started this post at about 9am, bet you've all chatted on without me, will post then catch up.

Right caught up now.

reastie thanks for thinking of me :) Count yourslef lucky you can leave the downstairs for a week before it's a pit- I haven't vacuumed for 3 days and it looks like a chicken pen in here! A 2yo, baby, husband and 9mo Jack Russell is not a recipe for a clean and tidy house!

jane they were very reserved drunken ramblings Grin

needto no wonder your back's aching! Welcome back! Also to mizk.

wiggles I had 2 Emergency Toffees in my pocket yesterday- suddenly realised Imy was rifling through my pocket and had found one, sneaky little madam. Had to let her have it really as a reward for resourcefulness and cunning Grin

Anyone else use washable nappies? Along the same lines of ledkrs year of bad sleep- I worked out I've washed them about 300 times!!! Shock

janedoe25 · 19/07/2011 13:41

Hi needto, hope your good.

reastie in my drunken state i got all emotional (slightly hysterical) about missing Zoe. DF was in bed hugging me, then i needed to blow my nose so got up and went to the bathroom. As i was in the loo, df stormed through the hall went to the spare room and slammed the door Confused. He left me sobbing on the bathroom floor which turned into a panic attack. I just dont know what to think of it? I spent all of yesterday crying alone (he was bringing his dad home from hospital).
I am feeling much better today, i think my hormones had a lot to do with it as AF has just arrived.

debka hope you are enjoying your peace while the girls are asleep.

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 14:13

debka count yourself lucky, Olivia rifled through the pockets of my jeans yesterday and found a tampon Grin "Mummy, look a pen, a pen" "why won't it write", "no you can't have it back, its mine" etc etc etc

jane Was it a bit of a mix up? did he think you wanted to be alone and was upset? Maybe his dad being in hospital has really shaken him up, more than he lets on, or maybe it was just one of those drunken misunderstandings that escalates very quickly. But regardless of that, of course you got emotional about missing Zoe, she's your baby and she's not with you anymore. Is df about this week or is he working away?

janedoe25 · 19/07/2011 14:55

wiggles Grin at Olivia. No he is working locally this week, we have spoke and he apologised for storming off, says he thought i was chucking him out of bed?? Not sure how he got "im going to blow my nose" to mean go sleep in the spare roomConfused

wigglesrock · 19/07/2011 15:00

Jane Oh men have completely different ways of hearing the most simple of sentences, its a special gift they have Hmm.

Well S&O have proved their weight in gold today, the Tesco pop up shop/cafe/tent combo has been the best £20 I have ever spent, they are now lounging on our bed writing stories, well Sofia is writing Olivias' school report Grin Think she's including a few "must try harder". Anna has dozed most of the day, she expended most of her energy flirting again Shock in Tescos and then sucking a strawberry!!!

reastie · 19/07/2011 15:04

jane men can be odd and just don't get emotional stuff and think we think things completely different to what's actually going on (or is that just my dh Hmm ). sounds like you had a super emotional week end which is understandable given everything you have both gone through. Glad you are feeling a little more positive today.

wiggles Grin Shock at the pen tampon incident. Good grief not sure what I'll do when alice gets to that point - can you imagine if she took it in to school with her and asked her teacher why her pen wouldn't work and what the odd string on the end was for Wink

deb make sure that last toffee is saved for a real big emergency like the end of the world or something Wink

Speaking of time frittering away I hate to think how much time has gone feeding alice in the past few months - must add up to days worth Hmm
