hi, it's been ages! I was on the antenatal thread (but in boots not glads!).

DD is doing well (she's 5 weeks) - started to wean her which means she now refuses to drink milk... until the night when she's ravenous and wakes up 3 or 4 times and downs a bottle. Then she's not hungry in the day. Aaaagh. Need to break the cycle. Will try water in her bottle tonight. Lots of caffeine needed for me!
PiLs desperate to babysit and keep asking. But I'm not up for it which is causing some tension with Dh, I fear. Being strong and just saying no. (Not them, it's me! Dose of PFB and not wanting to leave her).
In other news, we're selling house in order to buy one that needs total renovation. Either feel v excited or terrified!

Right, will catch up with thread properly now.

Deliaskis · 15/07/2011 13:00

LOL Borg at "wafting through summer meadows" and 4forme at "all cuddles and talcum powder", you have both captured exactly what I meant.

When I as pregnant and everyone said 'oooh lovely you'll hve mat leave over the summer', I had this picture of sitting under a sunshade on the lawn with gurgling baby doing interactive play interspersed with gazing adoringly at each other. The reality of the lovely weather seems to be mainly that I get very hot and sweaty when marching the streets with the pram (which I suppose is better than slippy sliding around in snow and ice or being unable to leave the house cos of weather!

However, in the interests of not being too glass-half-empty, I did have a very successful afternoon out yesterday. There is a cafe along the canal from where I live, and it seems to be frequented a lot by SAHMs and mat leavers. I have attempted to go since Claudia was born, about 7 times, and was rained off four times, then have had a nightmare on the three times we actually got out the door - reflux attack one time, and random no reason screaming the other two times, and I mean screaming, all three left me pushing my pram home in tears at how I couldn't even go out for a cup of f-ing tea. Anyway, yesterday, went with a friend with our prams, and bingo! We did it! Tea and cake, no screaming, no rain, no reflux, actually just a really nice afternoon. Yippeeeee!

Dx

Four4me · 15/07/2011 13:32

Big hooray for Delia and the coffee shop. They don't tell you antenatally how difficult these things can be. That is always what I joke-I say 'that is another thing to go in my book entitled "Motherhood- what they should tell you at antenatal classes"'. Now I'm an old timer I just barge on in and simply ignore the wailing one and scowl/growl and any spectators!

janedoe25 · 15/07/2011 13:59

Hi girls, Sorry for those who had bad nights, i can sympathise bloddy hayfever had me up all night!

wiggles Grin at A sucking face! hope the girls are feeling better today.
delia yay for you nice afternoon!

four4 I did laught a bit about your dh dropping off the "package". I think it is an amazing thing you are doing!

Hi puss i remember you from the ante-natal thread. Congrats on your baby girl!

reastie · 15/07/2011 13:59

puss did you have a nn pussinjimmychoos for a while too or am I getting you muddled with someone else Blush ? I have exactly the same pil itching to babysit issue too Hmm

what you mean you haven't been wafting through summer meadows with lots of cuddles and talcum powder?! Shock Wink [tongue in cheek] . But in all seriousness, these past 5 months have been tough and I get moments of real misery and how can I cope, but for me (and I know I'm odd) it is nothing compared to the misery that was pregnancy Hmm

d glad you have a good trip to the coffee shop - it's funny when DH asks me what I've done today and I say 'well, I spent the morning going into town to collect a prescription' and he looks at me like 'and.....?' and I always say that took the whole morning and he never quite seems to understand how little you achieve and how much hard work it is to do these things Hmm

went to cbt apt this morning re: my anxiety and phobia issues. Feel a bit Hmm about it as so want to be 'normal' but NHS only give me a few sessions :(

Pussinglads · 15/07/2011 14:17

reastie nope, must be a different puss! I could never afford choos or fit my big feet in them!!
(hi jane! )

wigglesrock · 15/07/2011 14:18

reastie You are bloody normal - you silly mare Grin, you are just getting a little extra help. I agree for me being pregnant was much harder than these few months but I was so sick..... had I mentioned that? Grin and being a martyr to it took up all my energy!!!

deliaskis, four4me I had Olivia 8 weeks before Christmas and had visions of wafting around in a winter wonderland, all Perry Como, doing some leisurely Christmas shopping Shock By the time Christmas Eve had rolled around I'd have sold my soul for 30 mins of sleep.

jane is df back today?

pussinseasonallysuitedfootwear post up lo dob etc and we'll add you to the stats and then you're not allowed to leave ever...Grin

ledkr you're very quiet - all ok? Hiding from pils already?

Pussinglads · 15/07/2011 14:22

haha wiggles. I'm PussInConverse today as a compromise.
DoB is 11.02.11. The last 5 months have flown! Just read 'The days are long but the years fly by' on another thread - it really rings true.
I promise to hang around here more often : 0

Four4me · 15/07/2011 14:30

reastie bit hugs.
pussin hi!
Having a very mnetty day. I was going to friends for lunch but her lo who is Imogens age is ill. Off to walk up to school for boys. Let 'happy four hours begin'.

Four4me · 15/07/2011 14:31

Whoops big!

wigglesrock · 15/07/2011 14:40

four4me I'm dropping Sofia and Olivia up to my mums in 30 mins for the whole night Grin

Trying to work out how decadent it would be for Mr W to pick up the takeway on his way home from work, and be in jammies and parked in front of tv by 7.30pm, if Anna agrees Grin

Anna has eaten like an absolute monster today, I've lost count of the amount of bottles she's had Shock and she had some food!!!

ponyo sorry I can't remember, was it you who moved up to the fast flow teats? Is it going ok ?

chocoroo · 15/07/2011 14:51

Hello!

Well MN was a pain yesterday wasn't it? I kept well away, nothing annoys me more than slow, broken websites.

Enjoying the last of the sunshine here before it pees it down all weekend. I'm bridesmaid next Friday so if you could all start you sun dances now that would be fab!

Sorry to those who are having crap nights. It has to be said, we did get better sleep when R was smaller. She's moving around loads now. I can't be too cross when she gets up at 7am though, as a)7am isn't that early and b) she's lovely in a morning.

wiggles I'm on the fast flow teats - R didn't even blink. She still messes about a bit on the bottle but it makes it less tedious for us - she can get through 8oz in well under 10m if she puts her mind to it.

reastie You are sooooo not normal! Who wants to be normal FFS. Wink

Delia Glad I'm not the only sweaty one parading round with a pram. :) Enjoy your last few weeks of Mat leave, I have less than four months lefta nd that scary enough!

Agh, sorry everyone else. DD is awake and screaming.....

reastie · 15/07/2011 15:03

wiggles pjs by 7:30pm is normal at reastie towers I'm afraid Blush . Enjoy your takeaway and tv night Wink Wink [nudge] [nudge]

puss Blush I thought you were a different puss Hmm jimmy choos are far too uncomfy to walk in anyway Wink

right, alice awake. for the past 2 days she's been making funny noises with her lips (like a brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ) and making loads of bubbles/slobber and she will not stop doing it, it's quite cute but is starting to get a bit boring Grin

janedoe25 · 15/07/2011 15:34

reastie of course you are normal! Let me to anyone who says who your not!

wiggles enjoy your night, will we be waving pom poms for you Wink Df came home yesterday, so have him to myself until tuesday (bank hol here) Grin

Emski76 · 15/07/2011 15:36

Puss, good to hear from you, make sure you stay on here now!
Reastie, I go to CBT on a Thursday morning and it has been fantastic. It's my review session next week. It has helped me so much as I am a huge worrier and incredibly anxious but between the anti D's and CBT I feel loads better.
Wiggles, enjoy your takeaway and tv night. I love nights like those. We have friend and sil over tonight as sil is going back to Oz for seven months next week. I'm making hunters chicken and rice and (wait for it) ice cream with pecan Danish, melted caramel buttons, its delicious and so naughty. My friend comes up with the strangest combinations of food but they are usually gorgeous! Will go running first so I can have big helpings.
Reastie, Noah does the slobber thing, cute but disgusting!
Delia, glad you made it to the coffee shop. What seems like the smallest thing pre baby can feel so amazing when you have a little one to carry around.
Noahs cold is worse today but I managed to get some stuff out of his nose with the sucker just before his nap. He screams whenever I use it as if I'm trying to suck his brains out! Bens had a few colds this year but seems to bring them home from nursery without actually catching them himself!
Noah has been rolling over loads today, then cries when on his tummy! I think he's frustrated, keeps trying to bring his knees up under him.
Hope your all ok today, enjoy the weather while it lasts

Four4me · 15/07/2011 15:59

Joy your evening wiggles Envy just got home with them all, now feed A, make tea for T and I, get J to a party for 5.45 (WTF?), get T and I ready for bed then when dh gets home go collect J from party 7.15 (WTF again?) home just in time to feed A again. So if your bored with your tv and takeaway Grin Wink I could do with a hand! Hee hee.

reastie · 15/07/2011 16:14

ems (please feel free not to answer) do you do CBT on NHS? Have you been limited to how many sessions you are 'allowed' ? I've been told between 6 - 10 is all they will give me, if I'm not 'better' by then it seems a bit tough luck and goodbye Hmm .

now, must empty the dishwasher that's been waiting since this morning Shock ...

Pussinglads · 15/07/2011 16:24

We're on the fast flow teats as of today. Started weaning this week - J loves it, but now refuses to drink - hope the new teats pour it down her neck help.

wiggles sounds like your night will be better than mine Grin.
Oh, and reastie, I've only just 'met' you, but you sound VERY normal Smile.

For the stats, DD is Josephine (Josie) and weighed 8lb 9 (ow).

reastie · 15/07/2011 16:42

pussin I was angels1 on AN (which I realise may not help and you may be nonethewiser).

WeAreBorg · 15/07/2011 16:51

Hello puss, Josie is a very cute name> Good luck with the feeding, Nate feeds much better at night too, he gets extremely distracted in the day!

Good luck with CBT reastie, it does seem a bit tough luck if you're not magically better in 6 sessions doesn't it? I think people who are prepared to do their homework generally do very well from it, so I think you'd be great!

jane have a great long weekend, it's a rainy one so I suppose you and DF will have to find indoor activities to fill your time with Wink

wiggles Grin at the face-hugger, I really hope I don't have terrifying alien dreams tonight, the milk harvesting dream was scary enough!

Nate said daddee today (not to daddy of course), dude, cock and good. Cock was my personal favourite, hope he repeats it at church tomorrow.

WeAreBorg · 15/07/2011 16:53

I've just realised it's Friday today, not Saturday. Double pants!

Pussinglads · 15/07/2011 17:05

Yay, I do remember you reastie. Was wondering what had happened to you as I remember you from other threads.
God, now I sound like a stalker!

wigglesrock · 15/07/2011 17:31

pussinglads when was Josie born?

Well the walking and talking ones have been deposited at their Nanas! Don't know who was more excited them or my mum Shock. The face hugger is getting ready for bed ie grumpier by the second and haven't heard from Mr W that he's running late Grin so yay. I am actually planning a takeway and tv seriously - I feel I haven't had two minutes all week, and I want to watch tv Grin

puss and chocoroo going to try fast flow teats tomorrow, thanks for reassurance!! You think I hadn't done this before Grin

emski have a lovely evening, I haven't eaten all day in preparation for my mammoth dinner!!!

WeAreBorg see Nate is so smart - he doesn't need sleep Grin

Tarlia · 15/07/2011 17:52

Hey puss welcome back and congratulations on Josie, very pretty name. No leaving us again Grin Did you bring anyone else back? We lost lots post birth, some I even see out in the MN big world! Wonder if they will return too!?

wiggles sounds fab. What take away will you go for?

Borg aww, but at least the weekend isn't nearly over. Hehe at Nates new sounds and milk harvesting dreams.

44me I think you are doing a fab thing for all of those tiny needy babies, well done you! The lay-by transaction is fun. Will you do more after this?

janedoe25 · 15/07/2011 18:09

borg Loving Nates vocabulary! Grin It is raining but the only indoor activity is him playing the bloody xbox Hmm

Not heard from hubbard or irish in a while, hope they are ok.

reastie Smile at A's new noises, she sounds well cute!

puss i love the name Josie, it was on my list but DF vetoed it.

Hope everyone has a fab weekend Smile
