Good news all round, Loz. EA still hasn't rolled and has given up trying in the last couple of days. She has started blowing raspberries, cute but messy!

sam26oscar · 03/08/2011 22:20

hi ladies,
i am knackered Sad Cassie either needs weaning or going thru a growth spurt! Up until we got back from holiday she was going for a 7-8hr stretch at night but since we got home its been every 2.5 -3 hourly. I know there's another sleep/development spurt at about 6 months but shes only 23 weeks. i don't really want to start weaning just yet but not sure how long my nipps can put up with the extra feeds!!!! Rant over Grin
She has found her feet and thinks they are highly amusing!! She has started to turn over in her cot when she wakes up in the morning, thankfully, at the moment she doesn't do it during the night else that will be ANOTHER thing to wakeme her up!! I have started to make her stand on my lap or the floor, obviously me holding her!! shes not that advanced Grin, as i thought she wasn't weight bearing well for her age as she is probably one of the eldest on here, shes also pretty crap at sitting too, kind of looks like a Buddha collapsed in a heap!! Still Oscar was late in pretty much everything then when he hit 8 months went from a blob on the carpet to this whirlwind, crawling and cruising round the furniture in about 2.5 weeks Shock that was really the start of it...but thats another story!!!
Am feeling a little Sad as i have just got the 6-9 month stuff from my sister out as Cassie is so long her little feet are almost at the bottom of 3-6 babygros. It makes me realise shes not a little newbie and shes my last baby, i love the stage shes at but feel a little nostalgic for a newborn... listen to me shes only 5 months old bless her!!!!
Well, off to sniff my baby girl now!!
Nite all x

cherub59 · 03/08/2011 22:29

Lozario am hoping to bf as long as he wants! ds1 and ds2 both had a full set of teeth by 1 year, but ds1 pretty much lost interest at 8-9 months, and ds2 by 10 months (and I had to drop the day time feeds anyhow as was back to work by then), but neither of them ever bit me more than once or twice. O really hurt me yesterday, enough that today whenever he latched on it has hurt! getting a bit nervous of feeding him to be honest, but he won't drink from a bottle so I have no choice! he just chews on the bottle and I wonder if that is making him think he can chew on me!!!

Glad to hear your house is ok!!

Potty training not so great - DS2 ran out of bath to play with lego with DS1. I was left with O in the bath and shouted to DS2 to use the potty to which DS1 informed that his little brother had already performed (both variations!) in the middle of the bedroom floor, right next to the potty! and he had weed on the lego as well so had to clean that up too!

AAAArrrrrggghhhh!

Lozario · 04/08/2011 06:59

I'd like to move Lara out soon but she's going in with DS so I want to wait until the night waking stops (if it ever does!)... She went from 6.30pm- 4.30am last night so I'm hoping we're getting there...

Those of you who have kids sharing a room - when did you do it and how??!!! The thought fills me with dread at the moment!!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/08/2011 07:44

lozario great news about the house! PhewSmile hope your DS is better. No idea myself about siblings sharing but a friend of mine has done it. She says it's fine so long as the older child is a good sleeper.

Izzy was up all night, 1130-12, 2-3, 4-530 then up at 7. Poor thing, she had wind and a temperature and her cough kept her awake. I xdont think the air temp helped either! Hoping it cools down today.

On iPhone so will catch up with thread later!

haloflo · 04/08/2011 08:34

Argh a 5.40 start this morning. DP got up with her before work and she was ready for a nap at 7.15 meaning I didn't need to get up until 8 though. Not sure if the early risings are because she goes to bed too early and if she sleeps well (IE no extended wake ups) is fully rested at 6ish. I can hardly keep her awake after 6pm some days though and she went to bed at 7 last night.

kpidgeon Hannah sounds exactly like E sleep wise. Last night I settled her when she woke at 9 and she managed until 10. At 10 she wasn't happy just to have a dummy and wanted the real deal so I fed her, then 2 hourly all night, grr. Glad you enjoyed your time away though, sounds like that was what both of you needed.

Sam Lol at budda collasped in a heap. Hannah looks like that too when I sit her up.

lozario Good news about your house. Hope the hole is fixed soon and you enjoyed the pizza.

cheese Really hope Izzy feels better soon. Its started to rain up north today so hopefully some cooler air is coming.

No rolling here still (18 weeks) I feel like she will never move! I wonder if her round tummy will make things a bit harder when it comes to moving around!?

cherub59 · 04/08/2011 13:26

lozario my 2 and 3 yr old share. Little one has slept and settled better since moving in at 18 months. They love sharing and settle really nicely on their own sleeping a solid 11 hours and 2 hours ish at lunch. I think they learn to ignore noise! They have each slept thru the other one having nightmares/shouting and even vomiting necessitating lights on for full bed change doesn't wake the other one. I suspect ollie will beg to be in there too in a years time and I would happily shoehorn them in as we have bunk beds and a cotbed in there currently!

Lozario · 04/08/2011 13:47

Thanks cherub! was it chaotic at first? Was DS1 at all miffed about it or did he find it exciting? My DS chats for ages before going to sleep so I'm worried they'll set each other off! Just can't decide when - I guess when she's more or less sleeping through without any night feeds...

Lara is getting SO fussy on my right boob at the moment. She's so distractable feeding, it's getting almost impossible!

highlandbird · 04/08/2011 20:11

Lozario yey on the house, great news (well not great that you have a big hole in your house obviously but great that its not subsidence!)

Cheese poor Izzy hope she gets better soon!!

Sounds like a few of us are having sleep issues, it seemed to get a bit worse here....and then a lot worse!! Evenings when he goes to bed are the worst, he nods off peacefully at 7pm then wakes screaming and crying regularly (sometimes 10mins after resettling) until about 11ish. I know he's tired as he goes straight back to sleep when resettled. Then wakes between every 2 and 4 hours through the nights for feeds.
He's also full of cold at the moment and is a coughing dribbling grumpy snot monster (poor wee man!) which makes it worse for him getting back to sleep.

Exhausted, phew, sorry for moaning. Hope you enjoyed your hols and good weather, its raining and midgey here :(

ps. two teeth here and (fingers crossed) no biting yet, might be a different story when the top ones come through though?? Not planning on stopping bf soon though if I can help it, its too convenient and I really enjoy it :)

Coconutmummy · 04/08/2011 20:14

Hello, new here. I am a March 11 mommy though, glad to see this thread

cherub59 · 04/08/2011 22:32

Hi coconut welcome!

lozario first week was hilarious as they would chat for an hour then conk out. Then the novelty wore out. We would turn the tv off and listen to the monitor as the conversations were so funny!!! When the little one started shouting mummy ds1 would say "it's ok I'm here. It's time to go to sleep" and in the morning if ds2 woke up before 7am and started shouting, ds1 would tell him that bunny clock wasn't awake so ds1 sleep trained ds2 for us! So sweet.

Jupiter118 · 04/08/2011 23:32

on a proper pooter with a keyboard ? yeah!!!

coconut welcome

highland sorry to hear sleep problems continuing - halo and kpidgeon and sam you as well. More chocolate!!

Lozario glad not subsidence ? phew. Although we are not BF E v distractable when feeding also ? nightmare if we are out anywhere. btw great choice of name for your DS Grin ? my W is 4.5 ? school in Sept!

cheese hope Izzy is a bit better

cherub sorry to hear about poo/wee incident

Not much to report here ? weather was lovely yesterday, vile today. Yesterday had lazy lunchtime ? E slept for about 2 hours so sat in garden in sun (factor 30 on first) with intention to read. Fell asleep ?was bliss.

E did more ?singing? at about 3am this am ? happy noises, but then when she was settling herself back to sleep I coughed/sneezed (can?t remember which) and she was terrified. Cue full on screaming, hyperventilating type crying ? bless she was really scared. After cuddles though she did go back down and slept til 7.15. We are v blessed as she is generally good sleeper.

Can I ask you ladies a quick q? Sorry if tmi (but sure have said worse, particularly on antenatal threads [hangs head in shame]). Since I gave up expressing (weeks and weeks ago now) I seem to be more hairy. Quite a few really dark hairs on tummy and right boob (bizarrely not left as well) and odd stray dark hair on chin. Yuckity yuck. Anyone any experience ? is it hormonal. is there a Holland & barratt type solution??

Night all

x

edeluna · 05/08/2011 11:31

Just put Sabine down for a nap, so thought I'd pop in quickly and say hi.

The sleep situation here is still rocky but we've had a few nights where she's slept for somewhat longer stretches and there's been a slight improvement some days in daytime sleep. I think I got almost four straight hours in myself the other night. But yesterday she was up and ready to start the day at 5am -- and only napped for about 45 mins the whole day, so that was rough.

Can't remember who pointed out that this is really just a very brief period in the whole grand scheme of things. Thanks for that. I keep trying to remind myself of that. Hang in there, everyone who's in the same boat!

Have started S on a small amount of pureed brown rice and she's absolutely loving it. She actually lurches into the spoon as I feed her and then grins and laughs the whole time. So funny!

Lozario Glad you're house isn't falling down. It's the little things in life that make such a difference, isn't it? LOL

Two questions:

  1. S keeps rolling over in her sleep and ends up on her tummy. Seems to like sleeping on her tummy but the problem is that she hasn't learned to roll over the other way, so gets stuck. I can flip her over if I'm awake, but this sometimes wakes her up (hence our 5am start yesterday). I'm worried about her sleeping on her tummy for a long time, esp at night, though -- danger of SIDS and all that. Hippo your LO is a tummy sleeper, isn't she? Should I worry?

  2. Sex since pg? DH and I have tried a few times but I'm finding it very painful -- which I'm told is normal when EBF. Bummer. Anyone else experiencing the same? The KY jelly didn't seem to do much last attempt. Boo. :(

Right, better try to get the million and one things on my to-do list done before S wakes up.

Lovely weekends to all.

Medee · 05/08/2011 17:51

We are having a sleep nightmare here too, 3 times a night. She's going down OK in her usual routine, but wakes up during the night - a quick feed and she is usually down but it is knackering.

cherub59 · 05/08/2011 19:54

hey all - just got a knackered baby to sleep and hubby is dealing with the big boys! spent the day at Lollibop festival in Regents park where the boys got to meet Peppa and George, Ben and Holly, and Bob the Builder. Those of you who don't know Peppa and George, and Ben and Holly - you will be watching it ENDLESSLY shortly! think it just made 2 little boys summer holidays perfect!

Edeluna I think you only worry about them sleeping on their tummy if they are unable to roll over AT ALL i.e not strong enough to hold their heads up and breathe!! it sounds like she is strong enough to have decided that is how she wants to sleep and you could be endlessly turning her over only for her to get straight back on to her tummy. won't be long before they are all sleeping in very strange positions. my funniest was DS2 asleep with his bottom in the air on all fours, and DS1 discvered the other night with Ollie's donut (blow up ring to sit in) on top of him - we had to take a photo of that one!

And it IS such a short period all this sleep deprivation....just feels like it lasts FOREVER!!!!

exhausted after Ollie decided to get up yesterday at 5 and this morning at 4 (though did settle back at 5.30 for an hour) and have been on the go all day at this festival lark... fingers crossed get a good night tonight.

Off to call for a Chinese takeaway and Wine

haloflo · 05/08/2011 20:07

cherub I saw that lollibop festival advertised and thought it looked fab. Glad you had a nice time.

lozario I just had a dominoes - couldn't resist after you mentioned it the other day. It was lovely.

edeluna No sex at all here. I think I said when Hannah was 3 weeks that I wanted to get it over and done with so to speak so it wasn't an issue. Well I should have seized the day. I just have no sex drive - probably due to feeding. Plus with a baby in the bed/bedroom (no spare bed) it means there is nowhere comfy for the ideal first time post childbirth. DP understands but I do feel bad. I hope someone can advise you.

Sorry to hear the sleepless club is growing and we aren't losing any members to the sleeping through the night club.

Glass of shloer for me and then bed.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 05/08/2011 20:10

Hi coconut!

Izzy is now better, phew! Antibiotics kicked in very quickly and she is back to her happy outgoing self.

Sleep suddenly seems to be an issue. She used to be put down awake and would go to sleep within 10-20 min. Now we are back to over an hour of crying, cuddling, rocking to sleep etc. She got into the habit of being rocked to sleep by my family on holiday. It is not a habit I want her to get into but I think breaking it is going to be a battle of wills. She also rolls over edeluna in her sleep but does not seem to like it. If she did, I would just leave her as she can pull her head anod most of her trunk up now! I have no idea how to stop her rolling in her sleep!

edeluna sorry don't have that problem but then have only had sex a few times as we are both bloody tired.
jupiter i have also noted I am now more hairy and have no idea why. Will do some online research tonight.

right, I had better think about dinner. I'm doing slimming world and takeaway is not an option, am very jealous cherub.
DH is on call all bloody weekend so its just be and DD as all our firends are off doing lovely family things. And all my family have other plans so the weekend is looking bleak.

Sorry, a bit whingey but I'm a bit fed up!

Lozario · 05/08/2011 21:50

Just a quickie as on phone - DH has computer for bloody fantasy footie!!!

coconut welcome to the thread :)

haloflo hope you enjoyed the Dominos!! We too had Chinese this eve like cherub... 2 takeaways in one week!!

cheese what does your OH do? Hope you find something fun to do.

edeluna 1) tummy sleeping - I think once they are rolling, you don't have to worry. Actually my DS was a tummy sleeper from 6 weeks - it was the only way he would sleep! You can get alarm mats to go under the sheet to monitor their breathing if that would put your mind at rest. (I'm a tummy sleeper so I have sympathy with these babies!)
2) sex - genuinely, my best advice is have (at least) a glass of wine. After DS I was so nervous about it hurting (ESP after stitches etc) that I think it made it worse. So after about a million years we did it after I had a boozy(ish) night out and it was fine! This time around it's been much easier, I guess that's the bonus of having a baby in a lift in record time?!

Gosh, almost 10pm. Bedtime. Have good winds all xx

Lozario · 05/08/2011 21:51

Ha I mean wknds!!! Bloody iPhone!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 05/08/2011 22:00

He's a doc. A+E so works A LOT of shifts! Sad Decided to take I to Lolibop tomorrow!

I also had a skinful when we first did it again..felt a bit like losing your virginity again...deep breath and get it done Wink

Right must get organised it nearly dreamfeed time.

sam26oscar · 05/08/2011 22:10

LOL lozario it my house we all have VERY good winds Grin,
cheese i know exactly how you feel my DH has been away since Cassie was about 14 days old, and have had pretty much every weekend like yours!! Its soo depressing especially when its raining!! Fingers crossed it will be fine this weekend for you and you can at least got to a park or even a walk round the shops.
Well, gave Cassie some porridge tonight as she didn't have any yesterday and she slept for 5hrs so will be interesting to see how long she goes tonight, especially as she had porridge at 6pm!!! Hoping at least 6hr stretch otherwise i will hang off food til 6 months.
Well, very tired tonight as both children awake at 5.40am today, both went back to sleep evenutally but i never did!! Was hanging the washing out at 6.15am!!
off to bed now!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 05/08/2011 23:01

It is a lot worse for you sam when is your DH back? I have just booked Lollibop tomorrow so that should be nice. Haven't quite worked out how to get to regents park on my own with the buggy but am sure I can work it out. Hope Cassie, and all the other babies, sleep well tonight!

Coconutmummy · 06/08/2011 04:41

Thanks ladies, I have just been reading through all of this as currently back to 2-3 hourly feeds overnight. Great support thread. The recent chane in sleep has been difficult because I have gone back to work. Anyways, I won't ramble on. Just marking my post so I can find the thread again. I am still quite new at this.

Coconutmummy · 06/08/2011 04:41

change

cherub59 · 06/08/2011 07:26

cheese enjoy lollibop it was fab yesterday!

Just warn you that the portaloos didn't have water for handwashing so make sure you take extra wipes/hand sanitiser!
