Hi all, a quick post before I go back to work tomorrow. Had a lovely time spoiling Anya with attention over half term. Have missed her so much working full time. Anya's version of sleeping through is 7:30pm till 5:30am, she is becoming less reliable with this anyway. Teething means she seems to wake at around 10pm. This weekend though my brother and sister have been visiting so she has slept even less - she has been so excited about having more attention that she hasn't wanted to go to bed until later. This morning she was up at 6am (New time) and she didn't go to bed until 11pm this evening.

Anyway... must go to bed. Will catch up again soon. Take care all.

pettyprudence · 31/10/2011 09:52

Arthur hasn't caught on to the new time either, which is slightly throwing everything out of whack as he had got himself into quite a reliable little routine. I don't think I can give him lunch at 11am though..... ah it will work itself out (fingers crossed)

Lozario · 02/11/2011 19:03

WE HAVE A TOOTH!!!! Bloody hell, I thought it was through a few days ago as could see it, but it's only cut through today, with much melodramatic behaviour from the child. I'm sure I didn't make this much fuss when I got my wisdom tooth through. She's gone to bed fully dosed up with calpol and ibuprofen.

Off to Wales tomorrow - driving on my own with the kids - v scared!!! Stopping on the way at my friends for lunch and to give us all a rest/potty stop/breastfeed (you can guess who gets what!). Staying with my grandma for a week - she's not going to know what's hit her! She's 84!! Fortunately she is also quite deaf. DS has decided he is Iggle Piggle this week and only answering to that name. Lara is apparently Upsy Daisy and I am Mummy Iggle Piggle. I live in a madhouse.

Now to pack the car and order pizza :)

Muser · 03/11/2011 16:09

Hooray for teeth! Hope the journey is going well. Enjoy your hols.

pettyprudence · 03/11/2011 16:24

Congratulations Lozario! Which bit of Wales are you headed to?

Started bf peer support training this afternoon, not sure where its going to lead to yet but fancy doing something different and as I don't plan to return to work (If I can help it!), it will give me something to do

Lozario · 03/11/2011 20:44

petty we're in Cardiff. Very ropey trip here - went through a red light accidentally and probably got a speeding ticket too! Oh well we're here now!! BF peer support sounds interesting - is it a local thing? Wonder if there's one near me in south London.

pettyprudence · 04/11/2011 09:14

Ooh I'm in Cardiff! Peer support groups are dotted around, but if you want to train up as one I think you contact the infant feeding co-ordinator at your local hospital/MLU or bf clininc. The idea is that we'll find some other women in my area to do it and set up our own local group.

me23 · 05/11/2011 19:34

hello everyone, I hope you are all well.

Hope you enjoy your training petty I loved doing the BFI training at uni.
lozario I would contact the hospitals in your area, I'm also in south london and the hospital I'm training at has just started a voluteer peer bf support group which is great as mws just don't have the time to give as much help as is needed with the million other things we need to be doing!

I'm back to work/training on thurs have some gynae and theatre hours to make up from before I left so will be in theatres with the elective cs 's on my first day back.

How is everyone coping with going back to work? also how are you coping at work when you are sleep deprived, this is really worrying me as I need to be 'on the ball' at work at all times and ethan is still waking up 2-3 times a night.

Also I'm a bit confused about expressing, will I need to? I'll be working 3 x8 hour shifts a week, so will be missing out on 2 mini feeds If I don't express will my milk supply dry up? or will I be ok and still able to feed E whenever during the day when I not at work? I feel like I should know this but I've only been taught about newborns and breastfeeding. I would like to continue to breastfeed until E is 2 or earlier if he decides to stop before then.

sam26oscar · 06/11/2011 10:48

Hi all... Horray am back online and DH has gone back to Scotland, that is also a hooray i have to say!! We don't live together so to have him here for nearly 2 months has been a long time Grin. Am glad to have my house and remote back!!! It has been lovely to see him and the DC reconnect though. Sorry for short post haven't read bakc yet am saving that for tonight before Downton and when Dc are in bed and i have the front room and laptop to myself with a cup of tea and bag of maltesers Grin
Hope all is well with everyone
post again tonight!! X

Jupiter118 · 06/11/2011 23:27

Bonsoir toutes! God I am rubbish at posting at the mo - sorry!

Hope all are well!

sam hope you enjoyed downton and maltesers. I can't wait for the Christmas special.

Lozario enjoy your time away.

Not much to report from Brum. We still have no teeth and even the dribbling has stopped so who knows?? She has lots of hair instead, so lOng in fact that it's in her eyes and DH thinks it needs a trim. It might do tbh but feels wrong to even entertain the idea of cutting a baby's hair. Any style or other tips?

DS is still being a right mOnkey. Think behaves at school, but the come 3.30 it's like someone presses the release button. OMG such hard work. E easy in comparison and sleeps ok etc. (obviously now she won't!!!). Her commando crawl is getting quite fast and she tries to get everything in her mouth.

Not much else happening - I'm 36 tomorrow feels really old - think i am in denial.

Night for now

Xx

sam26oscar · 07/11/2011 20:13

Evening all!
Well, that was a good Downton!! Can't wait til Christmas now!!
Ok, Well, down here in North Somerset we have a crawling, babbling, dribbling 2 toothed baby who was sleeping 7-5am but has now decided to wake every 3 hours gorgeous beautiful baby girl!!
She is lush!! She has definetly come out the other side of the separation anxiety, crawling soon put a stop to that as she now follows me everywhere i go Grin!. Following the sickness bug she had whilst we were up North she has been fine. It took a few days for her to get her appetite back but soon made up for it!!
I have noticed when her teeth are playing up she goes off lumpy food and much prefers weetabix, porridge or from frais....oh hang on whilst i turn over to watch what I want as DH has buggered back thank goodness gone back to Scotland and i have complete contro; over the remote Grin
It has been so peaceful and stayed tidy today and its been so lovely, does that make me a bad wife??
On a sad note, Cassie seems to have given up my boob juice in preference for the bottle Sad. She will only take boobie on an afternoon if she hasn't had any milk since breakfast, i am glad in one way as it means my mum can have her overnight Wink but really sad as i miss it.Still i guess she's got to grow up at some point!!
Well, hope everyones babies are gettin a little better at sleeping now!
jupiter i am 41 and am ancient Smile.

haloflo · 08/11/2011 14:49

me23 no advice but good luck with going back to work. Are you co sleeping? I'd say do anything for a better nights sleep when you are working.

Everyone are you buying your baby anything for Xmas? I guess this is more to those of you with just 1 child. I thought I might get Hannah a couple of bits but I don't have the money to spend much.

haloflo · 08/11/2011 14:51

Oops posted too soon. Things are going well at the in laws (Hannah is spoiled with attention and seems to have settled in well) but our new house purchase should go through Thursday so won't be long before we have our first proper family house with a garden.

sam26oscar · 08/11/2011 20:44

Just throwing this out there......

Anyone TTC??????????????

Just wondering as period was a little late and thought God no then when it came was slightly disappointed!!!

I was just wondering on peoples thoughts on another bubba??? Grin

Medee · 08/11/2011 22:19

hahahahahaha! No!

1catherine1 · 08/11/2011 22:38

Sam, if I could afford to not be at work then I think I would TTC already so Anya and DC2 would be close in age. But I can't afford 2 lots of childcare so will have to wait and time it for when Anya is in school full time.

Exciting news from some. Impressive progress Sam. Glad some babies are getting teeth - no luck here yet though. Sounds like you are keeping busy Petty, hope you enjoy the training :)

Well plenty of progress here. Anya has gone from commando crawling to real crawling. First time I saw her do it was today and I was so proud I almost cried. Then I told me OH and he said she does it all the time and I had to hold myself back from swearing at him. Still feeling very guilty for missing all her firsts and not knowing about them for ages after. She can now pull herself up to a standing position against the sofa but this week got her first scratch when she suddenly lost her balance and scratched her cheek on a toy. :(

In other news - OH and I are officially engaged now - not very exciting since we have been unofficially engaged for ages. Still no date for the wedding as I would like to celebrate it with family which doesn't come cheap. Hmm

Hope babies and mummys are happy and well! :) x

pettyprudence · 09/11/2011 07:45

Just waiting on DH to get proper job Samand then I'm going to make a start on no2 - probably around Arthurs 1st birthday Grin.

For Christmas i'm going to get Arthur his first toy car, a drum, starter brio train set and some bubbles. The list has already extended out of guilt from my mother as it was just going to be the car. I just think they are so little, don't know whats going on, need very little and going to be spoilt rotten by grandparents that i have to weigh up in my mind just how over run do I want my house to be after christmas? At the moment Arthurs favourite toy is a wooden spoon so "real" toys seem a bit pointless atm...

Had our first "proper" crawl this morning, a few steps (he clocked my toast), so hopefully more to come. Doing well at standing and holding on to something (ie sofa) but trying to go too far by moving, or doing it one handed (not at all successful bless him). Also trying to pull himself to standing but I think we are way off that yet.

My boss called me yesterday to see what my plans are re work..... I didn't have the guts to say im not going back so kept it vague... Said yes to the free christmas party though Grin

Congratulations Catherine :)

edeluna · 09/11/2011 10:22

Sam I am! Started about two weeks ago. Hoping for a BFP asap but no idea how long it might take as I'm still breastfeeding and have had no sign of my period returning.

Halo I think we'll keep it fairly simple for Xmas this year since S is so little and really won't know what's going on. And as petty pointed out, I suspect the grandparents are going to go bonkers.

Congratulations, Catherine. That's lovely news.

As for recent events here, S pulled herself up to standing for the first time yesterday and did it again in her cot this morning. Problem is she doesn't know how to get down yet, so she panics and starts to scream for help. She only started sitting up on her own last week and is now properly crawling most of the time -- so much physical development in such a short period!

Still sleeping pretty well, too. Was up twice early in the night last night for two short feeds. She's been going to bed without milk for the past couple of nights, so I don't mind her waking to eat -- I'm still worried that she's not getting enough milk. I've cut her solids slightly to see if that gets her to take more milk, but it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference yet.

Can't remember who asked about plans for going back to work. Right now, I'm planning not to. Childcare would just consume such a large percentage of my take-home pay that it doesn't really make sense. Plus I really want to stay home with S, and I know I'm incredibly fortunate to have that option. I haven't made it official yet, though. If TTC works out really quickly, then there the chance that I could go back for a couple of months to get the extended maternity pay. But I think that would only make sense if I got pregnant right now. I'm meeting up with my boss early next month, so that's sort of my mental deadline for deciding whether or not to give notice. Definitely going to the Christmas party, though. :)

Lozario · 10/11/2011 14:13

OMG TTC?!?! Not in this house!!! Wink well maybe we might have been if we had a bigger house but we're only in a 2 bed and until we get the loft converted, we don't really have the option. And anyway Lara is being such a cowbag with her sleep at the moment that she's putting me off any more babies!!! (only joking) The thing that really puts me off is another pregnancy, I really suffered with both of them so if we do go for a 3rd then it won't be for another 2 years at least. (My husband tactfully said "I think we could all do without you being pregnant for a while"!!!!)

So we are home from Cardiff now, new floor in. Lara was ok in Wales apart from the last night when she seemed to be unsettled all night. It was quite a ropey drive home!! I think I'm going to stop feeding her during the night next week. She doesn't take much when she does wake these days and then she just faffs about and looks around etc. Also she's pretty much dropped her mid-morning milk; if I bfeed her then, she doesn't have a good lunch. So now I'm feeding her a bit first thing, around 3pm, then bedtime. I want to keep the bedtime one for a while because I really love it :)

Christmas Because Lara has all DS's toys to play with, I think I'll get her clothes. Loving Gap for girls at the moment!

Downton I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!!! Woohoo!!!!

me I haven't left LO at any point to be able to answer the question about expressing... hopefully someone else can help though.

petty I wonder how long it will be before you hide the drum; will it make it to the New Year?! BANG BANG BANG

Was going to write more but Lara just woken up so time to say congrats to Catherine xxxx

pettyprudence · 11/11/2011 12:16

Lozario I will be surprised if the drum makes it to boxing day Grin at the moment he seems to be making enough noise by rolling under the metal tv cabinet and hitting it from all sides with feet and hands.... Maybe I will rethink the drum...

Purplefan · 12/11/2011 08:39

Morning all,

Hope you are all well and that all babies are now fully recovered from illnesses! Bethan still has a cough, but I am now convinced that it is teeth related! She now has 4 teeth as the top 2 have finally cut Smile. She really struggled with these top teeth cutting and since they cut the gum she seems much happier and is sleeping slightly better at night!

Lovely to read about babies on the move now and although I am slightly envious about the new skills that your babies have developed.. I am happy that my baby still stays in one place!!! Lol!

I went along to a special group run by the local children's centre called little stars - it is for children with specific needs etc... It was ok, BUT only other set of parents had 4 year old autistic twins and then there was me and Beth and the 2 members of staff!! They were very nice, but I just didn't get anything from it and Beth just played with the toys.... they said they are trying to get the group established and get other parents to come along... but I am really bad for thinking that I would just rather have coffee with friends??! Wink
Tricky cos they feel they should be offering support, but I am really ok with Bethan's condition and as you all know I take everything in my stride and consider myself blessed that she is in my life considering the doom and gloom in pregnancy.

Sorry if sounds like I am ranting a bit, but seems like they think I should attend just because of a label.

On another note... TTC....... NO WAY thanks!!! lol.... but good luck to those that are!! Two is enough for me Smile xx

1catherine1 · 12/11/2011 09:43

Purple I think it is great that they are offering you a support group just in case you did need it. Some parents would need it, especially those without a support structure in place. You have your DH, family and friends and also have the intelligence to go out and research her condition. Really is easy to take those things for granted. Fortunately you have all of this so if I were you I probably wouldn't go back either - no reason Bethan has to be labelled, she is a normal little girl who fought so hard to be here.

Well - I officially had the worst nights sleep ever. I stayed up late to wait for OH to come home as I'd bought him a watch to celebrate our engagement and I wanted to give it to him. So I went to bed at 1am. At 2am he brought Anya in to our room as she has been crying. I fed her and hoped she would go back to sleep. At 2:30am I gave up hoping as she was climbing all over me and OH so brought her downstairs to play. She has been up all night and probably had about 30 minutes sleep since 2am this morning. I think we're going to go out for breakfast. see if she gets tired. :(

Muser · 14/11/2011 08:46

Hello everyone. Lots to catch up on.

1Catherine, I hope you got a better night's sleep and perhaps a long afternoon nap.

Purplefan, it's a shame the support group wasn't better attended but it might be fun once it's set up properly.

Sam no TTC here. Need to move to a bigger place first. If we had more space I'd be lobbying hard though!

haloflo not planning to buy much for Christmas. I just bought an activity table as a sort of early present. All my girl wants to do is stand up and she kept clumping her head off stuff, so I thought a toy she could stand up against might help and didn't want to wait to get it for her. On the day itself she'll have a little stocking with a few tiny things in. I'm planning on buying her some soft pram shoes as well. Then it'll just be presents from family.

I am really looking forward to her first Christmas though! Love the idea of hanging her tiny stocking off her travel cot (we'll be at in-laws), watching her face when she sees the Christmas tree and all the lights, and having Christmas dinner with her. It'll be ace.

sam26oscar · 14/11/2011 13:42

hello all,
well its carnival night here tonight and Oscar is very excited, more at the prospect of going to bed late i think!!! Cassie is going to stay at home and Mum and Dad will bath her and put her to bed which will be interesting! Am a bit loathe for them to do it tonight only because she slept ALL night last night and don't want anything to jinx it for tonight!
I think she may be getting more teeth at the bottom..weird as she's got the bottom middle 2 but none up top! She is quite pale and snotty and off lumpy foods which i remember Oscar doing when he was teething. Also i expect her sleeping thr the night was to build up rest in order to be up all night tonight Wink
I have been very consistent in not getting her out of her cot when she wakes at night, i just turn her back onto her tummy, put the dummy in soothe her and stroke her head, shush her for maximum of 2mins then get out !!! It seems to have worked as she goes back off within 5 mins occasionally she takes longer but no longer than 25 mins.
Well, think i may have a cheeky little snooze whilst Cassie asleep and O at school Wink.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 14/11/2011 20:36

Hello people, hope you are all well and babies doing great! I came across GeekLove on another thread so thought I might pop in.

I am now 20+3 and have had my 20 week scan today. Not entirely clear - Bean's right kidney is enlarged with 3 cysts in it, but this may vanish on its own over the next few weeks. Next scan due 8 Dec, so will have to wait and see. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster so far - the nuchal test came back with a 1:10 risk of Down's and I chose to have an amniocentesis at 16 weeks. Luckily it was clear, and they were able to tell us that Bean is another girl! I can feel lots more movement than I could with Thea at this stage, but she had an anterior placenta and this one doesn't. It is good, anyway - keeps me calm (most of the time). Roll on March!
