So we don't scare the viroids on the antenatal thread with horror stories of no sleep, chomped boobs and endless laundry or make them envious with tales of cuteness....

You don't want to hear about my last 4 years Frak. You'd suddenly think your 2 years sound positively restful Grin (I'm not exaggerating either)

I had some fairly impressive pooplosions in the lead up to baby B2b. And period like pains and BHs. She was still 13 ruddy days late though. (I've forgiven her though as she's so damn cute).

Cowboy. I recall everything really hitting me around the 2-3 month mark with DS. Hope you get some sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow.

fraktious · 04/08/2011 20:29

Indeed they do baby. And I forsee another intercontinental move next year, hopefully new baby the year after that. Plus because we move for DH's job every time I have to find a new job too. stop the world please, I want to get off.

Baby2b · 04/08/2011 22:29

I can't stop the world, but can suggest a Wine instead Grin

cowboylover · 08/08/2011 23:50

Thanks, I got some sleep and mum looked after DD on Saturday afternoon and had a few beers and feel like the world is a better place!

We are thinking about moving but going through probate still with both dads and nans places so got to sort that out first but frustrating.

Got one of my keep in touch days at work next week to do my mid year review and I already know my score but will be weird doing it as I went on maternity leave in march and spent most of my time before that on the sick so hard. Will also have to give a bit of thought to going back and what my plans are but I'm not sure yet.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 09/08/2011 20:08

There was some talk about sleep and hormones on the June postnatal thread last week Cowboy and how for the first few months your hormones let you cope with the broken sleep and that's why it suddenly seems to get really hard a few months in, as those hormones stop. Sounds like this is what happened to you. Good to hear that you managed to get a night to yourself and are feeling better as a result.

MacaroonMum (aka MilanoMum) had a wee boy a few days back. No word from Dyna yet, though she will have had her LO well and truely by now. It's hard to believe DD isn't the youngest, littlest baby anymore (not that she was for long!)

Baby2b · 14/08/2011 20:57

Hope all you mums are having a nice weekend. Missing your chat on the grad thread. Smile

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 24/08/2011 17:50

Hmm, could have sworn I posted something a few days back, but either I dreamt it or MN ate my post and I didn't realise!

Hope ever one is well.

cowboylover · 28/08/2011 22:23

Dreaming of MN! Now that's dedication!

Need a rant about MIL, I know I am lucky to have some support ect but here goes;
Had an appointment at the hairdresser and BF her before I left and she usually feeds every 2 hours so knew it would be fine and I would be back ect so she was going to take her out for a walk then bring her to mine, I was back in an hour so she said when she was hungry she would bring her over and I should relax. Well after another 2 hours I wondered where she had got to called again she brought her over and went to feed her but she was not hungry then MIL said it's ok as she had gone and bought formula for her! Just so annoyed as there was really no need as I was home and she would have had some expressed milk if needed and she doesn't understand why I was upset with her. Not to mention it gave DD a really upset tummy after Angry ok rant over!!!

We are ok here, DD has discovered big serious crys when she wants something now and has realised it gets attention but there is no way I could ignore her as I get super stressed when she crys [blush

Baby2b · 28/08/2011 22:48

Really really shocked by this cowboylover Angry. What was she thinking?!

Hope she is bring lovely and supportive otherwise. My mum and mil have been good so far.

Trying to get to grips with breastfeeding and a very windy baby. Will hopefully have time to post more soon! Smile

fraktious · 30/08/2011 12:12

WTF cowboy Angry indeed! What on earth did she think she was doing?

Good luck with the BFing baby It does get better, honest Grin

Just a quick post for help/ advice. Little one is now 5 days old. First two nights slept in his basket in between feeds. Now only sleeps if on bed next to me. I'm not sleeping as had never entertained idea of co-sleeping and worried about SIDS.

Anyone had similar experience? He sleeps in basket during the day.

fraktious · 30/08/2011 21:54

We co-sleep - M starts in a bedside cot and migrates during the night! It's easier at night for feeds TBH and remember that night is dark, quiet and probably quite scary for a small being who has spent 9 months inside you, whereas being beside you is comforting.

Co-sleeping can be done safely but if you're worried try lying him on a t-shirt you've worn so it's warm and smells of you.

Good bedsharing info with hlepful links.

Baby2b · 31/08/2011 02:14

Thank you for getting back to me so quick frak. He has slept beside me tonight from 10.30pm - 1.45am. Neither dh or I smoke. I slept with back to dh incase he rolled. Just really nervous!

Baby2b · 31/08/2011 11:39

Has anyone heard anything about baby nests being any good or the cribs that attach to the bed? Think it could be a good middle ground.

Going to buy a sling today this avo too, so any recommendations gratefully received. Smile

Just started reading the food of love today, worth purchasing for moral support.

fraktious · 31/08/2011 11:44

As I said we have a bedside cot and it's fab. It's a German brand but there are lots in the UK.

Slings are my favourite thing :) what type are you looking for, what do you want it to do and how long do you want it to last? Grin

OP posts:
Baby2b · 31/08/2011 13:12

Misread your post as starting off in crib beside bed...baby brain Grin

For the sling, I think I want something more organic than baby bjorn type things. I read they don't let the babies legs hang naturally? However, I do like secure clip or buckle. I'm too fingers and thumbs for just fabric. Would like to wear baby around house and have him close to me when going for walks or to the shops. Is that realistic? Dh would like me to get baby bjorn style for going out as it is the most 'secure' Confused

fraktious · 31/08/2011 15:03

You can get a proper carrier which is like a Bjorn but often not on the high street. Look up ergo, Manducca, connecta and beco butterfly or beco Gemini.

I personally wouldn't put a baby in a Bjorn although the new comfort ones are okay and never facing out.

My woven wrap is more secure when tied correctly though I guess there's more room for error.

Baby2b · 31/08/2011 16:49

Lost message Angry

Thanks for the suggestions. Should really be braver and try woven sling in house. Does your dh use it too?

fraktious · 31/08/2011 17:52

Yep Grin I have some really lovely pictures and he has his own, special, size 7 manly wrap. I can send enabling photos if you like Wink

You could start with a stretchy if you're not confident as you can pre- tie and move onto a woven? Or try getting to a slingmeet to see what's on offer.

OP posts:
Baby2b · 31/08/2011 18:50

Grin might need take you up on the photos. He is very keen to carry baby, but thinks the more technical something is/looks the better it is Smile. A sling meet sounds like a fab idea. Will add it to my to do list.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 31/08/2011 20:10

Ohh more sling talk Grin. We have a babybjorn that I was given by a friend. I really want a woven wrap, but for now the freebie has to do. Think I like the look of the mei tai's, but shall now have to run off and google your suggestions Frak.
We don't co sleep, but DD has been known to fall asleep on me and stay there for an hour or 3. Though to be fair, now she's sleeping through this doesn't really happen anymore. She is in a moses basket beside me normally.

Cowboy how annoying and rude of your MIL! Was she trying to have some sneaky extra baby time? Poor little F, hopeher tummy upset didn't last to long.

Not much doing here. DS is getting wilder by the day (think the 3 year old male testosterone surge is kicking in) and DD has discovered her hands and that they can do things (like hit toys hanging in front of her).

Baby2b · 01/09/2011 03:42

Was wondering how many of us are up feeding our little ones (and in my case been dealing with poo explosions) Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 01/09/2011 08:45

Sorry B2B A slept through from 7-7 for the first time ever last night. GrinGrinGrin. Gotta love a good middle of the night pooplosion! Grin

Baby2b · 02/09/2011 04:32

I wrote a post this morning, but it isn't here?

Basically said I wouldn't grudge anyone sleep SmileEnvy

My little one has decided he will sleep in Moses basket. Though just put him in at 4am after a feed, clean nappy and sound asleep. Then I hear a poo explosion. I have never known a baby to do such loud windy poos! He is still adorable though Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 02/09/2011 08:20

Just wait til he thinks those loud windy (hopefully by then pooless) explosions are funny.
