WeAreBorg Anna hates it if we sneeze, screams the house down, I think they can start to get a little wary of people at about 4/5 months even ones they know.

Re: Mum knowledge - I just lie but the trick is to do it in a very knowing, confident voice, never let them hear your desperation Grin When Sofia started P1 her teacher ran a "homework course" for all the parents so that we would have an idea about what kind of stuff they would be doing, how to help and not hinder etc, it was really good fun but I've never seen as many nervous looking 30-40 year olds in the same room Grin Talk about not wanting to be picked on to answer a question!!

tadjennyp · 30/06/2011 18:27

Emski, sorry about your gramps. Hope your mum is ok too.

Hope your dh is ok ponyo and they get some answers soon.

Mum and Dad only here for another 2 days so got to dash. Hope tea and bedtime is going well.

byronicheroine · 30/06/2011 18:39

Croissants were great, only ready this morning as they need to be overnight in the fridge. It's a bit of a faff tho and I wouldn't bother if I had asda a lovely french bakery down the road!

Borg lol at Nate, he sounds like a character!
Ledkr K is whingy and shouty too today and I think I am becoming a bit immune to it - I suddenly realise that he's been moaning for ages Blush
Today K has learned to suck his lip too, and just before bed I'm sure he gave me a hickey on my shoulder!!
Sleep well all

ledkr · 30/06/2011 18:44

I am a rubbish mum knowledge,i make everyone laugh with my thoughts on the animal kingdom.I thought ducks ate fish, rabbits laid eggs and ostriches could fly Shock My favourite kid question thus far has been "what is sky?" Confused
borg dd has been doing the bottom lip thing too,she doesnt like being held by a stranger when she can see me,she loses the plot and screams like mad.Did it with mil remember but she wouldnt hand her back Shock old bag.
She's in the bath now,im looking forward to a bit of peace, she's been hard work today for sure.

ILovePonyo · 30/06/2011 19:00

ledkr! Shock at ducks eating fish and rabbits laying eggs Grin (fair enough about ostriches though). Does your son have to have radioactive thing often? Hope you get your peaceful eveing soon.

wiggles I am going to google Andrew McCarthy soon Grin My teen boyf was Axl Rose Hmm or Billie jo from Green Day, weird.

Borg dp doesn't have a choice about being discussed haha, I moan about him enough! (what is stent btw?) Your list of things N is frightened of made me smile bless him.

tadj enjoy the last couple of days with your parents :)

byronic glad croissants were nice - you had to leave them overnight?! Far too long to wait, well done you Wink

dp is feeling loads better and is cooking our tea, chicken and bacon pasta.

reastie · 30/06/2011 19:09

One of my teen boyfs (I had a few Grin ) was Paul Nicholls Wink I saw him in panto once Grin and he looked at me in the audience, honest Grin Wink Grin

Love the moany baby stories esp borgs who seems to be maony at EVERYTHING Wink

byron croissant was delish thanks, not too sure about the poo coffee though Hmm

ponyo so glad dh is getting better

mums knowledge 'eh? Hmm . I'm hoping [fingers crossed] I'll be good at this when alice is older as in my teacher life I've got good at answering awkward questions with my hopefuly logic or cleverly swaying the question around to something similar I do know the answer to Grin . wiggles is right - you could say anything and so long as you say it like you know exactly what you're talking about it's fine

alice got mental and over tired so DH taken her out for a walk to try and get her to sleep - thought he's be quick but it's been half an hour now and he's still not back Hmm

wigglesrock · 30/06/2011 19:16

ponyo Am now sobbing in a corner that you don't know who Andrew McCarthy is (Pretty in Pink), feel soooooooooooooooooo old Grin

byronicheroine I had to detach Anna from my lower lip yesterday, she wouln't let go with her mouth, I also got the necklace ripped from my neck yesterday, forgot that I didn't wear a necklace when S & O were small!!

ledkr · 30/06/2011 19:43

reastie dh does that, goes for a walk for hrs,i reckong he goes dogging myself Grin
Andrew McCarthy????? Me neither.
ponyo ds sees dr every 6 months,he will have tyo have a transplant-not one of mine, too pickled-evcentually,this was all caused from being born at 29 wks bless him.Hes a big old giant,6ft5" size 13 feet, very gentle,Dilly falls apart when he comes, she positively swoons.
I ditched ww cos i know i havent lost but its an ok ish diet.I seem to be drinking wine now tho wtf?
wiggles no defo no necklaces untill she is 5.I am looking forward to the summer hols too.it will be the first ive had off since Els started school,no uniform,no packed lunches and NO PILS wooooooo!

wigglesrock · 30/06/2011 20:09

ledkr that's lovely that you and Ella will have the summer, I hadn't thought of that before, when does she finish? My dad always goes for a walk by himself in the evening, when we were still at home, used to cause many wink, wink, nudge, nudge moments between me and my sister Grin Glad you are enjoying a liquid diet Grin

Gave Anna a little bit of the baby rice at dinner time, she liked grabbing the spoon Hmm and ate the rice but not actually sure how much she liked it, think she may have preferred the ice-cream and Calpol!!

WeAreBorg · 30/06/2011 20:36

wiggles a homework course! I'd be hiding at the back. Unless the questions were on Andrew McCarthy of course. For me it was Han Solo....still would...
byron you have immense will power to leave those overnight!
ledkr was the rabbit's eggs an easter bunny thing? I don't think the easter bunny actually lays the eggs? How does he carry them then? Your DS sounds like a real sweetie.
ponyo glad DP feeling better, a stent is like a tube would relieve an obstruction if they were thinking surgery (BTW i have no idea what I'm talking about).

debka · 30/06/2011 20:45

Hey everyone

Too knackered to respond to everyone, been a looooong hard work day today. I'm making the cake for my sister's 30th bash on Saturday, 3 tier job for 40, all tiers different flavours and my oven's tiny too. I iced them all after putting the girls in bed, will assemble it tomorrow (eeek!)

DH is watching How It's Made, is there a more dull programme?

You all made me chuckle tonight, love ya Grin

PS have googled paul nicholls and andrew mccarthy and they appear to be the same person.... Grin

debka · 30/06/2011 20:46

(ledkr what do ducks eat if not fish then?)

Emski76 · 30/06/2011 21:08

Paul Nicholls, yum. Andrew McCarthy, can kind of remember him from eighties films. I think my main embarrassing crush would be in recent years, I had a soft spot for Tony Blair when he first came to power, used to have rudey dreams about him too and I was in my early twenties! Sad, very sad.
Deb, my dh likes How it's made, when I see he is sky plusing it I want to shake my head at him!
Ben has been asking me a few questions about Noah. He said he thought the baby was going to be Finn and did the doctor give me a different baby! I said yes. He asked if the doctors fed me loads to get him out. He then asked if I'd ever been in his tummy! He's starting to become curious and I'm hoping he doesn't start asking more awkward questions!
Ponyo, hope dh is ok, worrying for you
Talking about mum knowledge, dh will often tell me something factual about history or science and will make it up and i very often believe him! Ben and Noah will definitely learn not to come to me for answers to any school work, unless it's about celebrity gossip!
I haven't seen my mum today as she and my uncle are helping my nan with sorting things out for grampy. I'm sending the boys to mil Sunday so will visit my mum then. She lives half hour away so not too far to travel. She's being so strong and brave, im so proud of her. Thanx all for your kind messages.

ledkr · 30/06/2011 21:30

deb bread i guess Grin dh is watching bbc1 about neandratol man, fucking ridiculous!I missed corrie, have come to bed but he will soon scurry up here when he realises im gone.
emski its hard isnt it?My Mum is so strong but i keep thinking "this is her Mum" I have tried to get her to talk but she doesnt really, very private person unlike my good self who tells everyone if im p'd off, have you noticed that?Haha.

ILovePonyo · 30/06/2011 21:41

Andrew McCarthy, swit swoo wiggles, I had a bit of a thing for Paul Nicholls too reastie - hope little A has settled well for you.

ledkr your son was born at 29wks? Wow. Transplant sounds like a worry - although I imagine he (and you) just get on with things. I have pink wine tonight Grin

Borg hadn't heard of a stent, I'm not sure really, and can't ask dp cos he'll know I've been gossiping about him Grin Think we are just waiting for his results from multiple scans now...

deb ducks eat little torn up bits of bread of course :)

emski don't worry for me honest, dp is fine now and talking to me whilst I'm trying to mn Hmm Your mum does sound like a strong lady, good luck for sunday, you are being strong too your mum and grampy must be proud of you

Bedtime for me soon, just watched despo housewives from last night - ooh! Can't wait for next weeks. Any other fans? Love Gabbi hope her horrible stepdad gets some comeuppance

ILovePonyo · 30/06/2011 21:43

ledkr great minds re: ducks Grin

debka · 01/07/2011 07:11

5.30 wake up call this morning but weirdly I didn't really mind- it's a lovely fresh sunny day and we had brekfast in the garden. However S is now back in bed and Imy is calling for attention. No rest for the wicked.

ponyo me and my mum watch Desperates but we're a few weeks behind so don't tell me anything! Gabby just went to stay with Bree. Which Desperate are you? I think I'm Bree Grin minus the red hair.

emski hope your visit to your mum goes well, I bet she's desperate to see you.

Bloody hell, both girls awake now, feeling overwhelmed and it's only 7am.

More later. Sigh....

reastie · 01/07/2011 08:14

deb we're a few weeks behind on desperate too - think I'm more Bree too (with slightly red hair Wink ). Wish my house looked as good as hers though Hmm

I thought the same thing re: ducks eating bread Grin . Don't they eat pond weed type things too Hmm ?

ledkr my dh insisted on watching that dull cave man type docu too Confused - I kept trying to put it onto 'help my house is falling down' everytime he left the room Grin

so no necklaces allowed with babied then Shock ? I've got my christening dress sorted but wanted to get a nice feature necklace to go with - is this a bad move? btw ledkr when's d's christening? (sure you mentioned it a while ago, but maybe I'm making it up Hmm )

byronicheroine · 01/07/2011 08:18

Morning all, it's Friday!
ledkr hope you got your sleep :)
ponyo yep, I watch desperate hws but [naughty] online so have finished season 7 Shock wow. Won't say anything but enjoy. I think I'm Lynette but without all the kids (as yet!!) as a lot of her and tom's arguments ring quite true!
So true about no necklaces (or earrings- ouch!) I can't remember the last time I wore jewellery. Sad times!
Ok I have decided to make a break for it go out to watch my friend dj tomorrow night as the boy has been sleeping quite well. Actually quite excited! Now I have to see if any of my old boozy fun mates have forgiven me for abandoning them for a small screaming ball of hunger...

chocoroo · 01/07/2011 09:04

Morning all,

Didn't get much chance to pop on yesterday so will go back and check what I missed.

Emski Sorry to hear about your Gramps. I hope you and your mum get time to remember him well.

Byronic Yay to nights out! Sounds like a fab one am very Envy Can't remember last time I had a DJ type night out!

Reastie R is always hanging on to my necklaces. As long as it's a sturdy one you should be okay. I've got a couple of long more delicate ones which I don't wear at the mo! Most big bead or silver ones are okay though.

Deb Boo to early get ups. They just make the day so long. I've never really watched Desperate Housewives. I think it started when I was living in London and therefore always drinking wine working.

Ponyo hope DP is doing okay. I often get kidney infections - I was really worried about getting one while pregnant. My DP had a problem with his a fee years ago and when he went for a scan they found out he had 3! Apparently it's quite common but it made menlaugh as my ex only had one!

ledkr Another one here with no idea about animals. I saw my god
Daughter at the weekend and she was doing animal noises. I asked her what noise a giraffe made as R was playing with Sophie...then me and my mates all looked at each other and laughed - none of us had a clue what noise a giraffe makes and just confused poor Anabelle!

Right. I'm off to Cinema bambino this morning with some baby friends. Not sure what the film is! Need to extract the baby from the big pile of wrapping paper she's playing with...it's my birthday today!

WeAreBorg · 01/07/2011 09:24

Happy birthday choc, hope you get lots of chocs. I used to love going to cinema when Nate was little but he won't stay still now and won't shut up.
ponyo watched desperates last night too. Am not really like any of them I don't think, maybe Susan for being slightly annoying and a bit useless, and I apologise too much. Sorry!
debka we were also up at 530 but I didn't take it as well as you, and kept hissing go to sleep at him which surprisingly didn't work.

ILovePonyo · 01/07/2011 09:38

Happy birthday choc! Hope you have a lovely day. Shock at your dp having 3 kidneys, never heard of that before! And what a coincidink about your ex only having one - random.

deb thats an early start, hope the rest of your day isn't too hectic.

I would love to say I'm Gabbi desp housewife Hmm but prob more like Lynette too byronic - I was cringing a bit at some of the arguments in last nights epsiode. Oops don't read that deb and reastie Blush

byronic hope you have a good night out, it'll be a late one I'm guessing Grin Enjoy

Oh reastie I am having an options hot choc as you suggested (good idea) but thought I'd got minty and its bloody hazelnut - wtf?! Still drinking it though :)

dd just took about an hour of crying to settle for a nap but I don't mind b'cos I didn't want her napping at 8am - mean mummy Wink

janedoe25 · 01/07/2011 09:46

Happpy Birthday chocco hope you have a FAB day! x

emski how are you doing?

ledkr lol at the dogging husbands!
Oh and ducks eat pond vegetation, insects and small fish like minnows! Yes i am an animal geek!

As for giraffes - Have you ever wondered what sound a giraffe makes? Giraffes are usually silent, but they do make noise in certain situations:

~Calves (baby giraffes) bleat and make a mewing call.
~Cows (female giraffes) seeking lost calves bellow.
~Courting bulls (male giraffes) sometimes let out a loud cough!

Also, giraffes have been heard snorting, moaning, snoring, hissing, and making strange flutelike sounds!

Recent research has shown evidence that the animal communicates at an infrasound level.

Yes I am bored today!

janedoe25 · 01/07/2011 09:50

X post ponyo

How is your DP? Hope he is feeling better. My best friend had a kidney transplant when he was 8, he will be due another very soon!

One of my ex-mindees had 3 kidneys! Something called duplex kidney, one of her kidneys was split into 2. Poor wee thing was very prone urine infections because of it.

ledkr · 01/07/2011 09:52

Happy Birthday Chocco

Me too borg and Deb,D surpassed herself with a 4.30 rousing, grrrr, she was weird yesterday so not sure whats up,she woke crying so we thought something was wrong but she was ok when we got her up,tried the hissing-it doesnt work you're right borg-then fed her and she fell asleep again about 6.20 when me and dh tried to go back off, queue 2 very tired people at 7.30,we felt better at 4.30. I pulled the curtains open and said "its morning sister!" just out of spite haha, she didnt wake up tho.I am just praying it was a one off anfd not the re start of the 4.30 wake up.

Off out to a friends later for a girly night,if i have the energy.
