wigglesrock · 26/06/2011 22:06

jane yummy, yummy, have calmed down slightly. I think this is the reason Mr W thinks long and hard before he talks about certain bits and pieces of work to me . Have given all 3 girls extra hugs and kisses and Mr W has spent the evening rewatching Seinfeld Hmm, he has seen all episodes about a billion times but it helps relax him Shock.

Right time to organise Olivias' teacher presents for tomorrow Grin Can't believe my baby finishes playgroup tomorrow, oh I'll be in a right kerfuffle in September when she starts nursery Grin

reastie · 26/06/2011 22:21

OMG alice will not stop screaming again - hope shes not going for a pb on the tiredness front Shock this is second night shes screamed non stop for hours and get in a state - feel i will be on here tomorrow for advice on evening routines. cant take this every night.

hot hot hot still.

wiggles what did you get teacher? [nosey]

right, cant ignore screams anymore.....wish me luck Confused

40Weeks · 26/06/2011 22:23

Thanks wigs the pox is still contained but tbh hoping that if the others are going to get it then just bloody well get it so we aren't quarantined for longer than necessary. That poor little boy, what a cow, she prob felt sooo guilty though, maybe why she lashed out. Dope.

44me meant to say before, am sure people would be glad of the extra breastmilk. We all drink cows milk after all (well alot of us do) and so surely it's better to give them milk that was designed for them!

jane I love roast gammon. Sounds delish

reastie hmmm naughty mil

chocoroo · 26/06/2011 22:49

Evening!

Can't go too far back as on iPhone so apologies to anyone I miss...

reastie You need to save up some oh so polite yet sarky comments for your MIL. You'll fine yourself chortling as you use them!

wiggles Am amazed at the way some families carry on. My mum works with a young boy with SN and his family are a state, yet they have 5 children they can't look after. Makes me cross.

Jane Dinner sounds lush although way too hot here for that.

40 I'll keep my fingers crossed for a full on dose of the pox in your house :)

Well, fortunately the dress fitting went well - no emergency hunts for a Coast dress from last summer required! Just needs shortening a tad and I need to not get fat!

R was an angel on the way up, slept for about 45 mins and looked out of the window the rest of the time. However, on the way back she screamed. And screamed. And screamed. I had to stop 3 times and could easily have stopped many more times. It was horrible, I was almost in tears.

She's still awake now, I'm putting it down to the heat - she hasn't been awake at this time since she was about 3 weeks! Could be a long old night!

wigglesrock · 26/06/2011 23:14

Chocoroo and reastie Anna has had 2/3 nights over the past 3 weeks where she has woken up in the middle of the night and just screamed solidly for 45 mins, totally unable to comfort her, doesn't look like she's in any actual pain, but Christ she has not stopped for a full 45 mins, seriously my neighbours heard her the last time, they have a 9 month old so they were dead on but in my tiredness I nearly told them to mind their own bloody business Blush

chocoroo glad fitting went ok Grin

reastie I got Olivias' 2 teachers photoframes from M&S and stuck the gift receipt in, so they could get something they actually want. I have a box of chocs for the office and wrote a really nice card. Her playgroup is in a very socially deprived area and they love getting decent testamonials (sp?) they can use for funding requests. For Sofias' classroom assistant I got the photoframe and for her teacher I got a Next voucher. I don't usually give that much, but it was Sofias' teachers' first job and she's about 12 Grin Sofia loved her clothes and accessories her teaching style and really blossomed this year.

wigglesrock · 26/06/2011 23:21

PS I know I should be in bed but I'm strangely fascinated by Beyonce and her wonderous legs at Glastonbury Grin Envy

reastie · 27/06/2011 08:32

wiggles I Grin at your beyonce comment. strangely, alice has been doing that waking up in the middle of the night screaming thing on and off for a couple of weeks too - never extended to all evening before though. I will tread with positivity today in the hope tonight is better. If it isn't, I'll come on here and have a good old moan (I love mn Grin ). I love the sound of your gifts for teachers. I didn't get many gifts when I was a teacher as I was never a form tutor and when I did get anything it was always wine which I don't drink Shock (maybe I should've passed it ledkrs way Wink ).I got a few kitchen based things (given I teach cooking Grin ) but I always prefered nice cards with thoughful messages.

choc how was your night?

Blinking 'eck it's hot today - got baby massage later but not convinced it's the best thing to baste rub oil all over alice in this heat, but, I've paid for the class I'm going to go god damn it Wink Grin

Deliaskis · 27/06/2011 08:44

Hi ladies,

Not much interesting to say except, how on earth do we keep babies cool in this heat? I am much better at winter, keeping warm is easy, keeping cool, not so! I don't mean I don't like summer, I just don't function all that well when it's hot hot hot.

C's routine went a bit pear-shaped yesterday, she only slept for 40 minutes at lunchtime (instead of 2 hours) as we were out with the pram, and she was tired all afternoon but only slept abotu 30 minutes more, so by bedtime she was exhausted, fell asleep with bottle, then woke u pat 5 to 7 giggling and wanting to play, noooooooo! Wrong way round! She finally went to sleep at about 8, so our BBQ was a bit delayed. It's not the end of the world, but we've just got used to her being asleep at 7 so plan our evenings around that.

DSIL had her overnight Saturday, so we got a lie-in Sunday am, bliss! Only thing is, she slept till 7.30 with them and then this morning true to form was awake kicking around before 6. She did go back to sleep tho and I woke her properly at 7.15, but I don't get why sometimes she sleeps well until after 7 and sometimes she doesn't.

She went to sleep in just a vest last night, no blanket, sleeping bag or anything, we then wheeled her home at 10.30 and did dream feed then to bed again with just vest and one of those blankets that's more holes than actual blanket. Is this OK do you think? I do worry about her getting too hot, as I had no covers on all night, but then I worry about her being cold too!

Argh! I think I am over-thinking it, it will be what, 3 days this year when it will be this hot...

Dx

wigglesrock · 27/06/2011 09:03

Delia we are not that warm here, so you have my sympathies, but Anna slept without a blanket and was fine. Mine have always woke up crying if they're too cold, I panic about them being too warm Grin My mil, much as I love her, I know blasphemy on this thread, always thinks I keep the girls too cold, I can see her sneakily check for vests.

reastie its funny I never did baby massage but Anna adored getting suncream on her on holiday, really loved it, such a shock as the other two when they were wee hated it with a passion, cue screaming and wailing especially from Sofia!

Right now to try and track down by Health Visitor, Anna hasn't had 14-16 week check, I rang up before we went on holiday to organise it but they were busy Shock She then left messages on my phone when I was away, I don't answer my mobile if I don't know the number and she left a note through my door. Does not exactly inspire me with confidence that she left messages, and when I didn't get back to her, she still thought it was a good idea to call out Hmm

reastie · 27/06/2011 09:11

d I had no idea about sleeping in heat too - we just hyad alice in short sleeved vest and no blankets. We also had a fan on near her but not directly on her so she'd have some cooler air through the night. Yesterday we took her out in the pram round the garden in just a nappy Grin (made sure she was completely shaded obv and only a little walk). She seemed to quite like it. I read this yesterday if it helps www.babycenter.in/baby/safety/summersafetytips

wiggles my mum/mil are the same re: worrying she's too cold and I'm always the opposite

Emski76 · 27/06/2011 09:20

I was worried about Noah getting too cold last night as he was only wearing a bodysuit with no blanket, plus we left his door open a little to let the cooler air in, but he slept thru without me getting up once until 6.30 this morning. First time in 10 days that I haven't needed to settle him in the night! Ive just put him down for a nap in just a nappy as it's still so boiling here! Was gonna shred this morning but it's too hot, might try late this afternoon.
Have good days all.

americanexpat · 27/06/2011 09:34

Am quite Envy at all this talk of the scorching heat. Rain today and 15C apparently. Hmm I do miss the nice hot American summers (though really can't cope with the heat anymore). I put L to bed in a sleepsuit + sleeping bag last night and he seemed to be fine, slept better than usual actually.

Deliaskis · 27/06/2011 09:37

Thanks for link reastie I worry about her getting dehydrated, although I know if she is feeding normally she should be fine, but I know I drink a lot more water in this weather, so I want to keep offering her more, but with her reflux, she can't cope with a very full tum.

Agree reastie and wiggles I too worry more about her being too hot (I do think the keeping them warm thing is an 'older' person thing, MIL always dresses C as if for an arctic winter). If she's cold, she'll wake up and/or cry, and I can do something about that, including cuddles to comfort he if necessary. If she's too hot, she would I assume just get irritable, and cuddling would make her hotter, and I find it harder to cool down than to get warm, so no idea how a tiny baby would cope.

D

Deliaskis · 27/06/2011 09:42

Meant to say Emski and expat hooray for better sleep last night Smile

D

wigglesrock · 27/06/2011 09:46

american we're warm but not scorching and no sun Sad, it's very close as my granny would say Grin My pils were in Washington last summer and they nearly melted and they're good with the heat!!!

deliaskis you're right if C is feeding ok, she's fine, I gave Anna a little water when we were away but don't usually bother. She had great fun with the cup but I don't think she was over impressed with the actual water. Olivia got dehydrated when she was 14 months and there was a real difference, I knew she wasn't "right" immediately, irritable is good, listlessness is a worry Grin.

chocoroo · 27/06/2011 09:49

Phew, night not too bad after all...she dropped off about midnight and slept to bout 7 when I coaxed her back to sleep again for an hour in our bed. she's still "missing" about 5 hours sleep though so what will happen today is anyone's guess!

As it's so blooming hot it's typical that I need to so a big clean and tidy up - PIL looking after R tomorrow while I'm at TT (or having a few bevies before Take That!) and have friends staying over after the gig so need to make up spare bed etc.

Have nice days all and hope the babies don't get too hot!

janedoe25 · 27/06/2011 10:54

Hi girls! im happy to hear the babies slept will last night!

expat same here weather wise, dont you just hate living in scotland some times?

Bloody typical, AF is gone and DF is working away for a few days Angry
Im having a lazy tv and pjs day today, its pure bliss!

40Weeks · 27/06/2011 10:57

It's roasting here, thank god though as pox bound! Have filled the pool and got me cossie on!

Mikey slept in his nappy and a sheet grobag and seemed ok. His room is the coolest in the house. Had a fan on in the boys' room though as it hD the sun on it all day. Nice breeze now though.

Have a good day all!

40Weeks · 27/06/2011 10:58

Jane x posted v v v v Envy enjoy every minute

Four4me · 27/06/2011 14:08

Hot hot hot here! Both babies are currently asleep in nappies with fans on. I have filled the paddling pool up ready for the boys to come home from school. My car thermometer read 30 degrees. I'm with ledkr the hotter the better.

Enjoy your pj day Jane

40 hope you are coping with the pox? The two boys had it at the same time and I'm kind of hoping the little ones do too when they get it. It was easier just staying home and riding the storm. Ds2 got it really badly and ended up on antibiotics for some infected and inflamed spots, poor love.

Archie has just given be a heart attack. I left him on a towel in the living room whilst I put Imogen to bed. When I came back he had moved right across the room and was curled around the coal bucket! I thought he'd vanished. He can only roll onto his side (as far as I know, little britain maybe) ! I think he must have just accidentally ended up moving by going from his back to his side and back again repositioning! No more teeny tiny babys!

wiggles you have inspired me to get organised with teachers gifts. We have a few more weeks left but I usually leave it to last minute. I like to get Thomas's ta's something nice as they are amazing. Also the Head is retiring and he has been wonderful getting T's statement and funding sorted so I must get thinking.

reastie · 27/06/2011 14:53

44me Grin at archie moving across the room like that. alice has taken to wiggling herself up her cot - we put her feet to foot ever night but by morning she's the other side Confused

well, i don't know if this is good practice for babies or not put i've put a cool damp flannel over alices body to try and cool her down as she got really hot going to baby massage and in her car seat. she screamed when i first put it on but after a minute she stopped so can't be that bad Grin . am debating if it is wrong if i do the same with myself and a bath towel - it is too hot - and i am not a the hotter the better person at all. jane I'm a bit Envy of your cooler weather.

wigglesrock · 27/06/2011 15:23

Four4me is Archie using his heels to sort of "buck" himself across?, Anna did that, combined with rolling onto her side I almost lost her in my mums living room Grin

Oh i like it hot but not this hot Grin actually its not that hot here Sad, girls in from school, lots of tears from Olivias playgroup, from the teachers not the actual children!!

Can you do something that involves a basin of cold water beside a fan to almost create your own air conditioning, or is that to do with something else, mind you think the air conditioning on the plane and in the apartment has given Anna a nasty cough.

My sister and I had chickenpox over the same time when we about 6 & 8, it nearly killed my mum, I think thats when she decided to go back to work part-time Grin

ledkr · 27/06/2011 15:49

hi all,i did post last night but lost it.
choccoyour night sounds like ours,d couldnt settle all day then fell asleep 5-7 but i coulnt wake her as had no sleep,so bedtime was at ten,she stilll woke us at 6.15 tho Hmm
delias d sometimes sleeps till 7 too but mostly 6ish
Its hot here but no sun bah, ella is having a sicky as she was really overheated, not like her at all,her mate is off with asthma so they had a dip and then played barbie in the shade,i made ww soup and did washing.
reastie have you recovered from pil visit yet? dh went there yesterday and when i rang to se if he got there ok fil just said yes he did,i had to ask to speak to him (he'd forgotten his mobile odd bods.I will need to suffer one more visit before they fuck off go on hols so am going to extend an invite to suit me,i am running a book on the likelyhood of them refusing to pick their own time, bet anyone?
wiggles 2 at school next term,ah just you and Anna, will be nice.
Your sister sounds like she will drive you mental for the next few months,my mum willdo my head in,she already keeps on about how pleased my sis dh is,as if my dh wasnt Hmm
Dh is at work till 6 then straight to footy, great life if you can get it. I have my mn meet on 9th then back to my local for drag queen and strippers woo,its a ladies night.
Wil be descending on brum in october btw should ant brummies fancy a birthday bev with led.
janeenjoying your pj day?

wigglesrock · 27/06/2011 16:09

ledkr I know Sofia will be at school until 3pm, from September and Olivia is at nursery until 1.30, what will I do with all my spare time, oh that's right forgot about the banana Grin.

chocoroo is it TT tonight?

Meant to say Anna is absolutely loving the walker, haven't had so much "hands free" time since she was a few weeks old Grin

reastie · 27/06/2011 16:12

clueless first timer q - so what is it with the pox that makes it so bad? do you have to shut yourself away for fear of contaminating other folk for a long time?

ledkr just about recovered from pil Grin . they wern't as bad as they have been but i've noticed i've been significantly onb edge since. mine are going away too next month - 3 weekends till they go so plotting madly to hope we can arrange just one meeting in that time

too hot here still - my face looks all Angry coloured from dashing about with the hoover Wink
