hi angeliz, good to hear from you again and love your story about dd1, have let leon have a lick of choc a few times and surprise surprise! he loved it!!!!

tipex. i so know what you mean, last week we were both so knackered, week before myself and leon had had the poohs etc, then it was my birthday weekend and i stayed up late both nights at a cottage we go to; then last week he was up every night as i said and i just couldn't even think of doing anything each day, felt like i was gonna go bonkers;

actually i wanted to shout from the roof tops WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS???? even though (roosmum and many others) i know i've had it good

actually i love going to work (2 days) too, and leon loves his nursery, so we're all happy on that one!

dp's mum is down in devon so we don't see much of her. she is ok, but a bit thoughtless at times... her and dp's dad aren't really "baby people" iykwim?

morning all and good to hear from you Angeliz !

Sorry to hear about the badly sleeping babies. Touching lots of wood - dd seems better the last couple of nights so think she just needed 'readusting' after her cold. Apparently I slept through a bit of a yell at 2 this morning but it was a couple of yells and back to sleep so I don't feel so bad (am sure I would have woken if she'd needed getting up to I usually do !).

Goss - what with your fisher price camper van and now a roller disco - are you sure you're not having a mid life crisis ?? BIG nostalgia trips !

I don't leave dd with anyone other than grandparents either. I think the only other people I would leave her with is one of my brothers and his wife (as they have a dd 6 months older than dd), possibly my other brother and his wife (don't have kids but very good with them) and then one set of friends who we used to babysit their dd (our goddaughter) before our dd came along. However, now we've both got kids it doesn't work so easily (they now have another).

Right, need to get on - dd's christening on sunday and I have soooo much to do. My Mum is arriving today for a couple of nights to entertain dd whilst I clean and cook. She's quite excited as she hasn't seen dd in the last month and she has changed so much in the last month (I got very excited as she stood on her own for 3 seconds yesterday - pathetic isn't it - a whole three seconds ).

futurity · 23/11/2005 08:41

gossifer: we've got the fisher price van! My Mum kept it and we got it out for DS1 and now Sam loves the bottom bit of it...pushing it along and making lots of noise!

gossifer · 23/11/2005 09:29

hazellnut - thats great, 3 seconds today, tomorrow the world!!!!!

hope you get a lot done the next few days, make sure you get a bath + glass of wine in there somewhere

i don't know what you're talking about, nostalgia trip! me! now, i must go, got to find my flourescent pink legwarmers before i go out.........

gossifer · 23/11/2005 09:31

futurity, thats great, my mum kept one too, but she's keeping it, 3 grandchildren + more coming to entertain.....
(she's got loads of fisher price stuff that i cover, oh well, ebay for me......)

roosmum · 23/11/2005 20:45

mummies...do you let babes into the kitchen??
or put a stairgate up, or just close the door??

atm i let roo in, he empties cupboards, likes opening/slamming doors & drawers, but has caught his finger a couple of times - nothing serious, but obv he was devastated!! - & also is driving me a bit nuts with it. also a bit worried abt the oven - he comes zooming over to me whenever i open it (eg to take out lasagne or whatever, v. hot) & that kinda worries me...

what do you all do??

starlover · 23/11/2005 20:47

Linus is mostly shut out with a stairgate!

he does come in occasionally to open the cupboards and pull stuff out... but tbh he makes such a mess and gets under my feet (tiny kitchen) that i noramlly don't let him in

plus today he hurt huis hand on the hot oven!! i didn't realise how warm the door got and he snuck up behind me and then planted his hand on the door! cue lots of screaming

roosmum · 23/11/2005 20:49

yeh, roo has taken to doing impressions of a limpet on my legs every time i stay still for, um, a few seconds!
it's cute, but getting on my nerves, when i'm actually trying to get something DONE (oh rare occasion!!)

Angeliz · 23/11/2005 20:51

My dd isn't even crawling yet!
as i said, i'm honestly not worried but can we have a Birthday poll so i can see where all babies are at?

My dd was 22nd.

roosmum, i have lots of things for him to play with all over the floor, empty plastic bottles, small plastic bottles full of beans to shake, other toys, wooden spoons, tupperware very accessable! things i don't want him anywhere near are high up
our oven is quite new and the doors ok when closed, just put him witha very interesting toy when i need to open it
sometimes i stick him in his highchair with some toys on the table
hope that helps!
