it's a meal in a restaurant.. but it's just a pizza/pasta place.
figured i could get away with having a salad and plenty of drinks!

anyway, turned out it was a set fee £33.90!!!!! for pasta!!!
so, plus my £12 train fare and drinks on top it was going to turn out a bit to expensive for me right now.

No ideas on the self soothing front i'm afraid... Linus has dummy, so I am sure I'll be in the same place soon enough when we try and wean him off that!

just saying hello before I go off to bed.... meant to go to bed at 10 this evening as up early tomorrow due to dd's big day !!!!!

Cake is possibly a huge disaster..... but am hoping to rectify it with nice decoration in the morning........

SHame you didn't make the meet up SL - who will dish the gossip now !!! Oh well, aam sure we will read enough about it on here...

Right. Off to bed. Am excited about tomorrow but also a bit daunted about the logistics (i.e. serving food on time ).

Blondeinlondon · 27/11/2005 01:21

Hello
I should also head for bed but just got in
Didn't go to the meet up. Instead had leaving drinks for some friends who are emigrating
Babysitter seems to have survived and no sign of waking from DS

Tipex - hope you get some joy with settling to sleep/naps
DS is generally nap resistant but goes down okay at bedtime. I have resorted to "quiet time" mid morning and mid afternoon where he goes in the cot. He used to scream when left but now happily lies there watching his mobile

hellooooo !!

Had a LOVELY day today !! Everyone turned up in time, dd behaved herself impeccably through church despite flirting with a little boy baby also getting christened. Then back home and the food all went off without a hitch, even the cake.

Haven't got any decent piccies of A in her outfit but I do of the cake (that didn't move or blink !) so will post that when I get my camera uploaded and will do one of dd when I get hold of a good photo !!

Nope - no tears from her (although I must admit to feeling a bit teary a couple of times !!). There were 4 babies being dunked at the same time and none of them cried.

Stunning - I doubt it. Passable - hopefully

starlover · 27/11/2005 20:43

aww hazellnut, i am so glad it all went ok... bet dd looked gorgeous! (and t he cake too).. look forward to seeing pics!

Got outside this morning to go to work and found that some little shits had smashed our rear windscreen AGAIN!
so a a result was half an hour late for work and got it docked from my wages

Hazellnut · 27/11/2005 20:45

what a PITA Starlover - not what you need right now ?!

Meant to also add to my last post -thanks for thinking about us.... We only had godparents and close family to the do and its amazed me how many people that weren't invited sent cards and gifts and also sent 'thinking of you emails/texts etc'...

starlover · 27/11/2005 20:51

not at all hazellnut.... i will do anything to get out of here now. think we're going to have to sell car, make up the shortfall on our deposit and just move asap

OP posts:
Hazellnut · 27/11/2005 20:56

Might be worth being without one car (you both have one don't you at the mo ?) for a bit if it means you could move. Would you move so you are walkable to the town ? Does DP use his for work ?

We only have one car but then dh gets train for work so its mine during the week (and weekends its rare we are doing separate things) and I do use it a lot. That said, I could easily use public transport for the stuff I do if I didn't have the car.

being without car woul dbe do-able i think. Although, dp has to go away for a few days here and there sometimes so i woul dhave no car then... but I could get buses and stuff I think.
It would be impractical at times, but certainly not impossible!

we're just looking to move into a house really, get a bit more space... same town. we have some ideal locations.. ie walking distance to town and dp's wrk! but not sure if we'll afford a house there.

work really surprised me, i rang to say what was going on.. andi have been late before with no repurcussions, and i inevitably stay on after work to helop tidy up etc which i don;t get paid for too... it seems a bit unfair.

well the weirdest thing is that it wasn't my boss... well not really.
neither the manager or assistant manager work on sundays. so the shop is run by our kids team leader.... who just happens to be a really good friend of mine! so i was totally shocked when she said that i would lose half an hour of my wages.

maybe she just wants to be seen as being fair, i don't know... but i thought she of all people would cut me a bit of slack!

Hello all, so much to catch up on. Been away for the weekend so see a friend of mine. She is TTC, think dd has put her off having a baby! had a lovely time, good to get away from the same four walls for a bit. Tipex, dd settles with comfort blanket. It took ages to get her used to it and lots of tears( hers and mine) Its horrible but she can settle on her own when she wants too! SL sorry about the car some people are really shitty.

gossifer · 28/11/2005 08:57

oh starlover, i'm sorry about the car and work, big cuddles from us here, sell it!!! move and make things how you want them to be - we are like you and need to do something too, need to move out of this flat for more room...... so i know how you feel

hazellnut, i'm so glad the christening went well, congratulations! sounds like you have lots of lovely friends and family, its so nice when you all get together and celebrate and remember what's important in life

well, we've been doing controlled crying and leon finally went to sleep last night at 8pm and woke at 7.30am so maybe we've cracked it, will cross my fingers for dp as i'm out tonight!

starlover · 28/11/2005 12:21

thanks gossifer! dp is digging his heels in about the car... so have got him ringing round today to find a lender who will pay fees and stuff!

i really feel i am having to push him into doing this, and that he doesn't want to buy yet... and i don't want to do that. But at the same time, if it's left up to him we'd be here forever!

Well done on the sleeping too! Has it been hard doing cc?

OP posts:
gossifer · 28/11/2005 12:34

sounds like you're talking about my dp, things only get done if i do them, he then complains that he doesn't know where anything is etc........

the cc is really hard, but if this is the result i will be the happiest person! we got to a stage where leon would be up until 10pm if we wanted him to fall asleep naturally! not good for me and dp at all, and mad eus only want to leave him at night with my sis or her dp
i found i needed to be concentrating on something else or my heart would break in two
the other thing was he would just stand up the moment we walked out the room, we both wondered how he would fall asleep from standingup?????? we have put him in a sleeping bag thingy this time, maybe that was the prob all along
anyway. only first night so i'm not getting too excited (she lies!!! i hope we're there, i really do)

are you having a good relaxing day? i'm yet again meant to be working and i'm on here instead........

starlover · 28/11/2005 12:44

awww it sounds hard! we've done similar things with linus on the occassions when he has just not wanted to sleep, but it hasn't been a regular thing.
he also does the standing up thing and i just keep going in and lying him down and leaving him!
unfortunately he is more than happy to stay there and play with his rabbit for hours! lol

so far our day has been ok. Linus has just woken up and we;'re going to get some lunch! he's walking round with a tube of bepanthen at the moment and hitting the tv! lol
