tipex, i honestly dunno!

i def bf him less in the day now, so i spose that's the best (ie has worked best) bit of the daytime routine.
he still doesn't nap much in the day, & if he does fall asleep (eg when feeding), doesn't like me putting him down.
just picked up baby whisperer solves all your problems (!) to try & get a bit more routine for naps etc...?

maybe the sleep just happens one day?? that's what i was hoping for, as can't do CC with him! i wouldn't be sure that he's gonna sleep well from now on tho, esp as we're going down to s wales for the weekend. no doubt that'll knock his sleeping again & i'll be back on here telling you all!

tipex - those daytime naps sound exactly what dd is doing now - a morning half hour and then 1- 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon. Mind you does depend on what we are doing - I am no good at routine so just hope she naps round what we are doing...no wonder she is no good at naps

Have found a white choc cake on the internet so just have to make it now - gulp... am a bit worried about this aspect because I was so stubborn about making it . Was a bit worried about how to decorate it but have decided to put ribbon round it and some fresh roses on the top - what you think ? Mind you, that supposes the cake isn't a disaster (my mum's tip- make it early saturday and then there is still time to go and buy an iced one from m&s !)....

And roosmum - I am sure a photo might find its way onto mumsnet somehow !

oh its just a dress - black with white kind of squiggles on it so a bit of an odd pattern - looks rubbish on hanger but dh said 'oh wow' when I put it on - which is the first itme he's said that in a long time but that may just because I was in a dress rather than slobbing around in jeans !!!!! Really don't think it looks that good but nevermind. And my dress was cheaper than dd's and I had planned to really splash out on an outfit. Nevermind. I still have pounds and pounds to lose so I tell myself it would have been a waste to spend loads on an outfit that won't fit me soon what an eternal optimist !!!!!

nik72 · 24/11/2005 21:35

Am babysitting my sister's 5 month old as she's off to the cinema with her DH to watch Harry Potter . Have just put him down to sleep and he's making a racket - don't know how long to leave him....strangly difficult when it's not your own baby!!

starlover · 24/11/2005 21:36

argh! just typed a huge long post and then browser crashed!

in a nutshell: cake sounds lovely hazellnut! hope christening all goes well.. sure you will look smashing!

tipex... linus WAS napping the same as your ds. but recently has been only wanting one nap in day

nik72 · 24/11/2005 21:39

That happened to me the other night, SL - had done a massive long post all about bugaboos and the whole thing crashed. It was really witty & everything....

Never mind the photo of your dd, Hazellnut - we want a photo of the CAKE! Mmmmmm!

Hazellnut · 24/11/2005 21:45

oh no - don't you lot start building this cake up - am convinced its going to be a disaster already..... but then guess that would make a more interesting photo anyway

Hazellnut · 24/11/2005 22:07

oh and whats that chickpea curry recipe ? or can you point me to where it comes from or are you v. clever and made it up ?

jolly4 · 24/11/2005 22:13

futurity · 25/11/2005 08:55

Sam is the 8th and also has the half hour nap in the morning and then 1 to 2 hours after lunch..depending what mood he is in! Shattered this morning as he was awake at 12.30...teething again...then DS1 was up at 1.30 with a bad dream and wanting to get up and play...screaming from all of us for an hour...then Sam was up again at 5.40...got him back to sleep..then he woke at 7.15. I am being very quiet this morning and I think DS1 is getting the message that I am not impressed by last nights behaviour.

gossifer · 25/11/2005 09:20

tipex, leon still has about half an hour at about 10.30am and about an hour in the afternoon , anytime from 2.30-3.30pm, but if we're out and about he's fall asleep in the buggy

hazellnut, good luck and have fun with the christening! cake sounds yum!

ok, no-one answered on the other thread about wales, so where are you all from? i only ask because i think there's lots of s.wales connections

i was brought up in cardiff, folks still there, so back there next weekend for a big family party and then for xmas for the first time in years.........

gossifer · 25/11/2005 09:23

futurity, sorry about your night, sounds like a nice easy day is on the cards!

jolly4, sounds a bit like how it was last week for us, a growth spurt? teething? it will pass though, promise

futurity · 25/11/2005 11:40

DH took Sam out with him this morning to get him to go to sleep as he wouldn't nap in the cot but apparently despite a half hour drive he still hasn't nodded off so will probably do so on the way back which I really didn't won't as he won't sleep the rest of the day now and i need a rest!

fruitful · 25/11/2005 16:50

its nearly the weekend - hooray!

ds has a nap in the morning, about 2 hours after getting up, and another one after lunch. One nap is about 45 min and the other one is about 1.5-2 hours. If I let him he will have the long nap in the morning and the short one after lunch, and then be very grumpy at teatime.

Blondeinlondon · 25/11/2005 17:36

Hi all, hope everyone has had a good week
We went to a pottery painting place this afternoon to make some stuff for the Grandparents' xmas gifts
All went okay but DS screamed for about 45 mins before finally falling asleep in the cafe next door

Gossifier - no Wales connections here

nik72 · 25/11/2005 19:47

I've never set foot in Wales. Never been to the Lake District either, come to think of it. I suppose that's what comes of living in Scotland, lots of nice scenery so you don't think of going to similar places.

I just made up the chick pea thing, Hazellnut - cooked some tinned chickpeas with cumin, coriander & turmeric and some cream. It freezes OK too.

Hazellnut · 25/11/2005 20:38

will try the chickpea concoction Nik - thanks !

My connection with wales is my dad was born in pembroke but moved to kent when he was about 5, however, show him a rugby match and you'd think he'd lived amongst the daffodils and leeks all his live .

Hazellnut · 25/11/2005 20:39

all his LIFE, even....

gossifer · 26/11/2005 09:00

nik
do you blend the chickpea thing? sounds nice and easy
