suzym1984 · 03/06/2011 21:02

thanks ponyo we never dreamfeed, but I am just worried that he will make up for it by waking more at night :-(
I will definately let you know when I decide to stop swaddling Grin

wigglesrock · 03/06/2011 21:04

ponyo I know what you mean, apparently my pregnancy was very stressful for my mum!!!! When I was pregnant with Olivia my mum had a very busy social calendar (don't ask Grin) and it was my fault that she booked a holiday the week before the due date (the holiday was booked after I told her I was pregnant) Oh look at my repressed anger rearing its ugly head - usually I save those feelings up until the week before Christmas Grin

wobblybumm · 03/06/2011 21:08

ponyo Shock at your MIL "you have another kidney", hope your DP is okay and tests are alright.
suzy hope someone has some advice about the dream feed, I have never attempted one as N is such a sleepy feeder I am usually trying desperately to keep him awake so he takes something!
glad things are better for you delia, I have days of complete despair sometimes!

we have been away for the first time ever with a baby, very adventurous as the hotel was a whole 2 hours away (we are so sad) and we went for a whopping 2 days. We managed to turn up on the wrong day (my fault), go for dinner at the wrong time (again my fault), causing a catastrophic chain of events with N missing bedtime and sitting yelling under our table in his car seat. I kept trying to settle him by breastfeeding in random places outside the restaurant, we eventually gave up and ran to the room at about 9pm. So a nice relaxing stay all round Hmm.

Off to pick curtain fabrics now, Friday nights are hardcore in this house!

ILovePonyo · 03/06/2011 21:10

Oh dear wiggles I seem to have encouraged ranting following on from my multiple rants! Hmm and Grin at it being your fault about the holiday, okaaay....

suzy may I suggest that if you don't usually dreamfeed then to leave it for tonight? Then maybve prepare for a night waking but hope he doesn't, that what I did and she still slept til 6.30 Shock

I meant to say dd (the little traitor) was smiling and nearly giggling at mil by the end of their stay, how annoying Grin

reastie · 03/06/2011 21:49

ohh wobblybum fabric for curtains, I'm genuinely excited Grin [saddo]

d I never thought I'd say this but I'm so Envy of your baby monitor Hmm

ponyo sounds like a frustrating jaw clenching interesting visit from PIL - just as well they live far away. I will be v Angry if mine come this week end having explicitly told them we are busy all week end Confused . We are hoping to go out on our first proper day trip tomorrow - packed lunch is all ready to go in the fridge Grin

Alice has decided sleep is for weeds Confused - I've been trying to get her to sleep for TWO BLINKING HOURS. She's just now looking promising Hmm .

suzy hope you had a good night

I'm imagining ledkr hiding with e and d and lots of galaxy chocolate in her bedroom from the PIL Wink

Morning all!

Glorious day here again although DD up early (well, 7am) so all fed and played with and now she's heading for a nap while I eat breakfast.

wobbly Suspect my excitement over going to John Lewis to pick up R's high chair is equivalent to your exciting Friday night in with curtain fabric!

Suzy hope you had a good night...that's how we dropped the dream feed, by accidentally missing it one night.

Hope you all have lovely days!

40Weeks · 04/06/2011 08:43

Morning early birds!

Hope you are all well. Mikey slept great on thurs night, 9 hours straight. Was Overjoyed but it was because of his jabs. We are back to our usual selves. wiggles and reastie hope you are both on the mend.

Delia I laughed at your comment about the way the babies wake up, legs straight up in the air. It's so cute, mine have all done it.

Ds1&2 are off to the pils for the day so me, dh and Mikey are hopefully going to have a lazy cuddly day, possibly even a pub lunch! Haven't suggested that yet though.

Needless to say potty training is going hopelessly. Have the most uncooperative 2yr old in the world.

have been shredding every day although mizk I am dreading L2!

Hope you all have a great weekend

wigglesrock · 04/06/2011 09:28

Morning, just on my way to work Sad really sorry I agreed to it now, know I can tell them I can't do it anymore but how would that help my martyr complex Grin

Mr W was working until 4am this morning so my mum has girls until lunch-time, then Sofia has party no1, then we are all meeting at party no2 after I finish work, God I'm knackered and haven't even started.

40Weeks have a lovely day, deffo go for the pub lunch Grin

Deliaskis · 04/06/2011 09:42

Ooops sorry for inspiring all the video monitor envy, whall I try and smoothe things over by saying something like 'it's really not that great, nah, hardly ever use it actually'.

40weeks so it's not just Claudia then. I have to say when I wake up I don't stick my legs straight up in the air. Weird little things they are.

C has been very naughty today as she woke up at 5.45 and by 6.15 would not settle and was screaming for bottle, which I tried to do as a night feed (in room, dark & quiet etc.) but she was wide awake after it, so we had an early start this morning. She's now having a humungously long nap so no idea what the rest of the days feeding and sleeping schedule will be like. Having said that, I'm feeling quite chipper at the mo, although have a bit of a red wine head from BBQ at Mum & Dad's last night. DH is at work this morning so I'm hoping he will take over this afternoon and I will have a snooze.

You see this is exactly the sort of drivel I normally type and then delete, it really is too dull for words...

D

Emski76 · 04/06/2011 10:08

I have to admit that we also have a video monitor and couldn't live without it! Although I have been known to wake hourly in the night to check what Noahs doing! Last night was not so great, he woke at 1.30am and dh fed him as I lay in bed pretending I couldn't hear Noah crying, then cried at 5.30 so we brought him in bed with us and he snuggled into me and went to sleep. BUT then I dared to move and he screamed for 10 minutes then spotted the sunlight coming through the blinds and was wide awake from 6am! Little bugger. Ben came in at 7 and we all had a lovely snuggle so it ended up well.
Although he hasnt really agreed with baby rice I am still tempted to try again, guess desperation for sleep is affecting my thinking!
Luckily dh has taken the boys to his parents for the day, yippee! I've already changed our bedding and cleaned my windows! What a bloody exciting life I lead!
Have good days all

ILovePonyo · 04/06/2011 10:46

Morning all, am just about recovered from MIL though dp isn't and is deciding whether to speak to her about her dismissing his kidney probs.

wobbly sorry to hear your first stay away didn't go that well, oh dear! At least next time you go somewhere it can't be as bad?! How did you get on with the curtains?

reastie hope you have a nice trip today wherever you are off to, I was Shock at A refusing to sleep for 2 hours, hope that meant you got a lie in today, you deserve it!

choc dd was up early this morning too, I still sometimes feel we should get lie ins on the weekend Hmm

40 enjoy your pub lunch, good plan :)

Poor wiggles having to go to work, that sucks. I did Grin at martyr complex though :)

delia hope you get your snooze later and stop calling yourself dull, we are all nosy here as you well know so like reading about each others lives! Wink

emski I am planning on taking advantage of the sun and doing lots of washing today, super exciting here too :) Snuggles in bed sounds lovely, dd is def not a snuggler yet but hope that will change...

Right madam is being annoyingly whingy so better stop ignoring her poor baby Grin

ledkr · 04/06/2011 14:28

Gosh i have just caught up so will not even try to answer all posts.
Firstly-Got a lush swimming cossy from debenhams-frost french range its akind of 50's style in red spots very pricey but lookes really nice even my Dad said so.
Ponyo poor you and dh,my ds 2 has long term renal failure, will one day need a transplant, nice of mil to play it down,is there anyway she is just making light of it to make you all feel better? I have always been light hearted abou it,i call it his steak and kidney Grin
Am aching from level 2 so having a day off.
deb i know i had something to say to you but i cant remember?

Ok then-pils. They came to the pool and that was ok apart from me not knowing thus only taking a picnic for 3 so had to go without myself Angry
Baby D has a big hour long dip and didnt seem to ever want to get out.

They commented on their campsite as being cheap and basic but they didnt need the "facilities" as they'd use ours. They followed us home from the pool despite my mate being with us and we both needed to get ready to go out.
They then both had long showers Hmm
Didnt lift a finger to help with baby ot unpacking the 3 bags and let me make them coffee despite having 1 hr to get ready (dh was doing bath)
They then allowed dh to buy them fish and chips-id gone out by then, and this morning when i emerged the dirty plates were stacked on the side even tho the dishwasher was empty and all the bags were left unpacked. I know dh should have done it but was probably knackered would it have killed them to help?
Today its mils birthday so we are doing a bbq then i expect they will loiter around until late but not helping at all.
It has seriously crossed my mind to pretend to be ill tomorrow so that i dont have to do it all again, cheeky fuckers woouldnt dream of taking us for lunch or anything they will just come here and expect meals.

Had a good night out tho,was very naughty and at one point me and my mates were dancing on the bar wearing mens shoes Shock i also got chatted up by a lesbian but told her i dont do girls which everyone decided was hysterical. I will grow up one day.

Emski76 · 04/06/2011 15:23

Ledkr, when are you gonna take us all out partying?! You sound like you always have a hoot!!

ledkr · 04/06/2011 16:15

Right deb i remembered, do you think dd needs to be weaned with all this waking up hungry?
Listen to this then, have been pm ing a mumsnetter about a chelt meet up and it turns out that i actually spoke to her at the pool yesterday Shock isnt that weird?

ledkr · 04/06/2011 16:16

Emski-you'd be most welcome to join us,we do always have a good un i dont know why? It maybe our over indulgence and childish nature or it could be our complete lack of boundaries Grin

debka · 04/06/2011 16:59

ledkr your PiLs have excelled themselves in crapness yet again! Does DH think they're awful as well?

delia and em I'd love a video monitor, but I don't think i'd see anything as I have blacked S's room out very successfully now not that it's made the slightest bit of difference

Actually she did a tiny bit better last night, 11, 3, 5.30, a quick transfer to the kitchen, then 7.30. Been much calmer today as well. ledkr I've thought about that. She doesn't really feed properly during the day, like she's not hungry, so if she won't have milk, I don't suppose she'd have solids. I think it's just a sit it out and wait thing TBH, and try not to stress. She is happy and healthy and growing so at least I don't have that t worry about any more.

Gotta go, Imy is jumping on me brandishing a book....

ledkr · 04/06/2011 17:46

I couldnt have one of those monitors in case i saw a ghostly figure leaning over the cot-i watch far too many horror flicks Grin

Had a strange mil experience just now,she had D and D started to cry in that really upset/frightened /panicks way that they dont do often, she had real tears and was looking at me so i guessed she wanted me. I said "ah give her to me" this was ignored, crying got worse, i then reached over to take her and mil held on fast. I then tried to actually take her and she still held on. Only really gave up when D was very distressed Angry im not sure what her problem was.

Emski76 · 04/06/2011 18:24

Ledkr, your mil sounds mad! Talking about scary things on monitors, I quite often see orbs of light on the camera, spools me a bit sometimes!

reastie · 04/06/2011 18:54

ledkr you are the biggest partying granny I know Grin . Came on esp for some PIL stories and not dissapointed - they are their usual selves I see Hmm . Did you realise the pool mner was a mner when you saw her at the pool or after?

deb you need one of those camera montiors with a build in dark camera thingy where you see everything green iykwim - wonder if they do them Hmm , if not, I bagsy making a million from making them Grin

Was it ponyo who did the swaddling? Just wanted to say I was reading in my baby book earlier some babies just love being swaddled until maybe a year and to tell if they still need it you undo one arm and see if they get distressed - if they do then keep on swaddling.

Had a lovely day out today - went for a walk and pic nic in a forest and the had a nose in john lewis homewear and had a drink at the caff [easily pleased emoticon] . nothing like ledkrs party lifestyle Hmm . I was super chuffed though as I managed to bf in proper public place for first time (been too chicken - I know, I'm stupid Confused ). did it in the woodland (lots of families about) AND John Lewis cafe - feeling very Grin with myself.

Deliaskis · 04/06/2011 19:06

reastie sorry you have just missed out on your millions, my video monitor thing works in total dark, it's just kinda monochrome colour but everything clear a la mos haunted. Am now wondering what I would actually do if I saw a ghostly figure leaning over.....

Also reastie congrats to you on public BFing and also on having what sounds like a very civilised day.

Ledkr I think your MIL is a bit of a weirdo, but what is even scarier (to me at least) is that I can imagine my MIL doing that too. She got arrested pulled over with C in the car on Wed as her numberplate had flagged as no insurance (she does have insurance BTW), and she was at the side of the road/in a police car with C for 2 hours. I was 10 mintues away and she didn't think to call me and ask me if I would like to come and collect her....That's also a bit weird isn't it? Following on from the having her overnight (unasked - me and DH weren't actually doing anything important) and not mentioning she would have to get her up at 5, feed her, and drive her around in the car for an hour as she was taking FIL to the airport. This was when C was already sleeping through till 7.

Anyway, I didn't come on here for a MIL rant, but it always feels good so why not!

Off now to tend to curry on cooker... Have a nice rest of weekend all.

Dx

Deliaskis · 04/06/2011 19:08

reastie sorry, just sniggering at your last line could be very funny in our past lives, pre-baby, pre-breastfeeding, etc......

Dx

ledkr · 04/06/2011 19:29

reastie well done on the public bf,i used to do it anywhere with ds's but i have very small boobs so not such abig deal.
The mnetter said she had been to the pool and i said oh i was there where were you sat,she told me by the baby pool under a tree and i said "did i ask you to watch the baby's towel" and she said omg yes that was me!! Freaky eh? There werer hundred there too.
pil still here sitting it out its becoming uncomfortable too now cos its saturday chill time and me and dh are both shattered, just bathing girls and it should be down time but they are just here, mil just announced they are satying till Monday so im afraid the Sunday illness will be happening cos otherwise ill have them here till late again on a school night and will have to feed them again Angry any ideas of a suitable illness to fake?

wigglesrock · 04/06/2011 20:01

ledkr try a "down there" nudge nudge illness, maybe the odd scratch would help strengthen your case Grin Seriously weird re the other MNetter at the pool. Hope they are away now and you and dh can relax.

reastie glad you had such a good day out although like deliaskis I had a phnar phnar at you doing "it" in the woodland and in John Lewis, maybe its just us D Grin

Work was shite and hot, but best friends sons birthday party was really lovely, relaxing and even saw Mr W for 30 mins Grin, he took the girls and I met him there after I finished work, then he went on to work. All girls asleep and I'm just going to potter about and hopefully have the sense to go to bed early!!

ledkr · 04/06/2011 20:41

wiggles your joking right? They take root,I am upstairs on pc "settling the baby" wish they'd go now,me and dh get so few weekends together and we are all so tired. Have to face it all day tomorrow too,we could go and meet them where they are camping and then leave at 4 to get kids tea and to bed but i just know they will end up following us home expecting food and staying till bedtime so i cant win.
Lucky reastie with the el fresco activities. These cookery teachers are dark horses.

wigglesrock · 04/06/2011 20:57

They are still there Shock I know I've said it before but they are really taking the piss, do they not get any hints, I don't know how you cope with that kind of length of visit

Sneak some wine upstairs, will they still stay if you say you're knackered and want to go to bed?
