[Grin] memphis I would be shaking for months, I will go tomorrow and give a go.

Tsc have you decided not to go?

Trudyla · 29/05/2011 18:30

Oh dear tsc, hope it'll work out one way or another.

Sorry about that chul, but I'm sure you'll get knocked up soon Grin once S's feeds reduce and you'll get af back.

WSS Did she sleep longer? Anymore feelings about mastitis?

cake How was London? Which museum did you go to?

MLIC Hope you'll know soon.

stac How is R? Good luck with memphis' magic machine.

My weekend was pretty much hellish. I have decided that a baby just can't be this angry and screamy without a reason so I'm gonna do the dairy exclusion. Even DP is behind it now. He is the most patient person in the world and he nearly lost it yesterday.

Could you please help me with this?

MLIC What dairy free formula are you using for W? And where can I get it? I've done my research and there is no such a thing as dairy free formula over here so I will have to stock up next week in the UK but don't know where.

cake, chul and MLIC How do I make sure she gets enough calcium? She loves eating yoghurt, quark, frommage frais and stuff like that. Should I substitute with soy products? They are not really well equipped with rice and oat products over here, apart from milk so it would have to be mainly soy even though I know it's not ideal. I heard there is lots of calcium in broccoli which she eats almost every day? Should I consider giving her calcium supplements? tia.

We'll be going to England on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it a bit, but mostly worried about screaming behaviour. Also not looking forward to packing.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/05/2011 19:02

memphis no Im not smoking again but would really like to (I know its a stupid idea but I really miss it) Im just going to have a 'treat' on my wedding day.

Slightly better night here, G still woke up at 5-something but she slept through again so at least the sleep I got was unbroken.

Chul sorry bout the bfn.

kk how was slane?

cake I am taking nurofen as I read somewhere (i.e. probably on MN) that it gets rid of 80% of mastitis cases. Feel a bit better this morning, still a bit achey on one side but not as sore.

No, G won't really drink from bottles, prob cos she's hardly ever had them, she just chews on the teat and gives me the Hmm face. I was a bit concerned about her fluid intake as she went from having so much (from bf) to, er, not so much. She's having some milk from a sippy cup and also drinking water from cup, bottle and even with a straw (seemingly her favourite method, though it's a bit slow). The few days after she stopped feeding her nappies were def not as wet has they had been - getting better now though.

I reckon half the waking up early is hunger, I am trying to get as much food/water/milk in as poss during the day.

got to go shes squealing

memphis83 · 29/05/2011 19:39

kk its like the power plate but the power plate vibrates so it makes me feel sick and my feet numb but flabelos wobbles from side to side at a fast rate, the 1st time i went on it i really didnt think i would be able to handle it as it wobbles you that much!
trudyla I know there are cons to soya milk but over here sma do a soy formula, also I give L soya yoghurts, soya is actually higher in calcium to dairy so you shouldnt need to worry about suppliments, to save on costs I buy the big pots of soya and add puree fruit to it rather than the ones that have added sugar.
dh I smoked on my night out on friday and I felt rough the next day, I felt smelly and gross, just a furry mouth and it didnt matter what I did I still had smelly faggy hands

CakeandRoses · 29/05/2011 20:16

trudy It's worth reading this article about soya that I linked mlic to recently. To be honest, there's probably more issues linked to dairy than there is soya but soya gets a far worse rep.

Good calcium sources for babies are dairy-free formula/milk plus yoghurts etc, sesame seeds (e.g. in tahini), almonds (ground or butter), tofu, blackstrap molasses and greens (higher than broccoli)

i also wrote a long post to chul recently re dairy which you should be able to find on here if you search.

dh is back on this idea of buying a holiday lodge so didn't go to London (might go tomo) and went to see some lodges and the neighbouring town/countryside out near Maldon (where the seasalt comes from) They're lovely but need to do some serious sums before anything else.

mlic do you think W might be intolerant to other stuff too? My friend's 1yo was v intolerant to dairy and less so to soya and egg. he can now have the latter two in small amounts tho.

really sorry about the bfn chul. keep forgetting those monkey sleeping bags tho and who knows...?

CakeandRoses · 29/05/2011 20:31

oh and here's some other ideas trudy and other dairy-avoiders:

a typical (adult's) portion size of readybrek will provide a baby with almost ALL the calcium needed per day so even half a portion would be a good way towards that - you can make it up with oat or rice milk to give soya a miss for that meal.

also, i give A a pud made from ground/baby rice, ground almonds, fruit puree or mashed banana plus oat/rice/soya/coconut (yum!) milk which she loves. Makes a good alternative to yoghurts etc

mlic not sure if you use whole oats or instant for W but it's only the instant type like readybrek which is high in calcium

tis also worth pre-soaking (with water/milk plus lemon juice or natural yoghurt) oats (actually any type of grain) to reduce phytic acid which get in the way of mineral absorption

Hmm, imagine Jeremy Kyle in a cotbed in your house...shouting out in the middle of the night "PUT SOMETHING ON THE END OF IT!"

Chulita · 30/05/2011 06:16

trudy and viks look away now.

S slept through. L however woke 11.30, 0.15, 1.23. 2.37 and 3.30 crying. When I went into her and finally calmed her down each time she was going on about Winnie the Pooh, stones, strawberry sweets and other such urgent topics of conversation. S woke for the day at 5.20

Grin at Jeremy Kyle in a cot bed.

I'll be back later when the world is nicer to me

That's a shit night Chulita. How's the potty training going?

They show Jezza Kyle over here and occasionally I get Kiwis saying to me "Have you seen that crazy British show...with the crazy British people...are there lots of British people like that?" Grin.

Day going good here, A is being super sweet to G and G slightly less clingy than of late. She has even drunk some milk from a bottle!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/05/2011 08:08

memphis maybe smoking on my hen night will put me right off and Ill never want to do it again wishful thinking

Dylan woke up 2 or 3 times last night, bit worried hes going to be awful the night before the wedding and Im going to be knackered. Then again Im going to be on such a high tiredness wont get a look in.

stac thats nice about your friend asking you and R to be bridesmaid/flower girl :)

Woodlands · 30/05/2011 08:26

HE SLEPT THROUGH HE SLEPT THROUGH HE SLEPT THROUGH!!!!!

From about 7.30pm all the way to 6.20am! For the first time ever!

I had to go through to him a few times just after putting him down as he kept rolling from his back to his tummy and then not being able to sit himself up in his sleeping bag, which is what he wanted to do. But he eventually fell asleep on his tummy (which he's never done before), and it obviously suited him! I woke at 4 something and at 5 something, of course... I didn't have any alcohol or any caffeine last night (normally would have one or the other in the evening) so I feel very refreshed today!

Today is the big day when we are rearranging all our furniture and finally moving J into his own room - I wonder if he can repeat his sleeping performance again tonight? Probably not, I would imagine!

trudyla the nursery was good. I have two more to see, but having talked to a few friends since then I think he will be going to that one. Almost the very fact that it has a long waiting list while the others don't is enough to convince me! The baby room was separate from the main bit so was a bit calmer and quieter. The staff all seemed lovely. The outside space is a bit rubbish but you can't have everything.

stac that will be lovely to be a bridesmaid and flower girl!

love the idea of F on a bouncy castle!

malibustac · 30/05/2011 09:26

Shit night here too! She just moans all night. Chulita do you have the horrible hangover feeling?

Trudy probs best just to slather on sunscreen so m's not too warm. Do you stay with family when your home?

Well done J on the full nights sleep, long may it last woodlands.

Going to visit my dad today, can't be bothered but suppose I should. What you all up to today?

viksam · 30/05/2011 09:39

Morning All,
Im shattered, i have felt really really tired yesterday and it looks like today as well. We went to a friends house yesterday with the intention of coming home for D's bedtime but DH went for a drink with the guy and i stayed in at their house with my friend and we had chineese which was nice, D went to sleep in the car seat, probably the last time we will be able to do that as hes nearly out of it. But i was a bit peed off cos DH didnt get back till half ten, and then i had to drive home and resettle D in his bed, he didnt settle for ages but once he did he slept till 5.20 then he was awake on and off till i got fed up of listening to him and got up at 6.30. Just as i was getting out of bed DH said u stay there and I'll get up, imo its too late by then, he shoud have said that like 20 mins ago not wait till i make a move then decide he will get up Rahhhhhhh!!! I would have took him up on it too as it was his fault i was so late to bed. I sound like a right old bag but im really feeling tired the last few days and im dreading work this week as there will be lots of travelling.
stac glad R has eaten, hows she doing today? sorry about the poo night though, D has 3x7oz bottles and latley has been drinking it all but never used to, he used to average around 16oz a day which the HV said was fine. Everyone just thought it was a natural progression for DH to sell his two seater sports car and turn into a volvo driver over night so im glad hes held onto it for a while but its just not getting used due to time really so thats why he's gona sell it, and money of course!
chu Night sounds rubbish, does dh ever get up? what u got planned today?
cake I think u should buy a luxury lodge overlooking the sea with just enough rooms to take us all........
mylife hows W today?
trudyla have u spoke to ur HV about dairy free? is it just about her behavour or does she have bad nappies etc, does an intolerance upset a babies digestion like that or can it be just behavoural? Also whats ur due date? how many weeks are u now and how are u feeling?
woodlands thats great re sleeping, has he been in ur room all this time?

Right DH is up and D is asleep so im going for a shower, sounds like we might go for pizza hut lunch, yum!
