Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

ledkr agree with wiggles - I was told when I had my smear last time that any change in uterus (or wherever they test) can give a borderline result and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Apparently (according to the nurse) the area where they take samples takes a long time to change or whatever, so lots of people get the borderline thing and have to be retested. I think I went a bit after I'd tried to have a coil instered and was told the procedure for the coil could mean I would have a borderline result.

wigglesrock · 22/05/2011 13:21

Glad you've got some company ledkr I'd be over like a shot especially if you were going to "splash the ash" Grin Am at my mums today, going out for tea later, mum, dad, me and the girls, trying to get excited but am actually filled with trepidation, Anna's being a bit grumpy and spent all of mass belching, farting and a little upchuck, looks like she's taking after her daddy in her religious outlook Grin It's as well she's already christened or the priest might be slightly put off Grin

Emski76 · 22/05/2011 15:07

Ledkr, am sure what the other girls have said is right re your smear. I would be concerned too, but if they thought there was a problem they would have called you back in immediately. It s horrible though to receive standard letters. Maybe see your doctor for a point of view?
Jane, am shocked at your doctor. Surely anyone who has been bereaved should be offered counselling, no questions asked. You know you can come on here to chat whenever you want, I know I ha e used you all as a sounding board and it really has made me feel better.
We had a much better night with Noah. He went down at 7.15, and woke at 3.40am for a feed, then slept until 7! very pleased but am still tired as was worrying about him from 2.30am cos he hadn't woken! Poor baby cant win! He's got a cold and a cough, it's horrible to hear him coughing.
Just got back from christening of friends little boy. Noah behaved impeccably, Ben on the other hand, cried every time another child wanted to play with a toy he had. In the end I had to take him into a corner and have a stern word with him!
Hope you are all well

tadjennyp · 22/05/2011 16:03

Can you phone the GP in the morning ledkr? He might be able to give you some reassurance.

Hope everyone is getting some rest.

ledkr · 22/05/2011 16:13

Thanks all. I am feeling a lot better,a lovelt mn gp has advised me well.
Emski-i still take Ella into the corner for a good hiss haha.Last time was when she called me a "Stupid woman" aged 7 at the pils-reinforcing my role as the gobby older woman who stole baby James Grin and clearly cannot controll my kids.Id have a think about what you did differently to make clingy sleep well.I have certainly stopped the late sleep, she has nodded off now but i will wake her bt 4.30-mean mummy.
Wierd about the sounding board thing,i came in here as soon as i opened my letter,i am sure people think im mad. "Oh i feel ok now Mum i went on mumsnet" Hmm

americanexpat · 22/05/2011 16:14

ledkr - as everyone has said, everything will probably be fine on the follow-up but I know that doesn't particularly reassure you now.

jane - I am Shock at your GP. Surely if you're asking for help then you feel you need it. He shouldn't hesitate about referring you after the loss of your child, such a traumatic time in your life that help should be given freely. Is there another GP you can see who might be more sympathetic?

Emski - glad to hear you had a better night, am a bit Envy of the long stretch of sleep but I think you've earned it!

debka - meant to say that S looks perfectly healthy in the photo. Try not to worry (easier said than done)

My Shred has been posted, starting to sweat just thinking about it. Grin

ElleB1980 · 22/05/2011 16:27

ledkr I have personal experience of the dodgy smear test thing so ask any questions you need to. I've probably had about 10 smear tests and 2 colposcopies over the years. It always scares the life out of me (I lost my dad to cancer when I was 21) but has always been fine when it's got to colposcopy stage. I had to go for tests every 6 months at one stage but I'm now on yearly, or maybe 3 yearly.

Jane I think it sounds like you're coping well. You'll have down times and if they get more and more frequent you should def hassle your GP.

:) At the good night Emski . Nights are pretty good for us but R has been really grumbly all week. Guess it could be the jabs, or I have a sore throat so I'm wondering if we're in for our first family cold.

Does anyone have any experience/views on travel cots? R is too big for her Moses basket but I'm not quite ready to put her in her room yet. Do you think we could use a travel cot in our room for a while? Does anyone have any tips for a good travel cot?

irishqueen · 22/05/2011 16:41

blimey charlie this thread moves faster than a brides nightie as my charming father would say
ledkr i actually had a smear at 14 weeks pg as they do them here. came back as cin3 and a referral to colposcopy. I pat my shants!! went to colposcopy and they dont treat in pregnancy so went back last friday and they did a loop diathermy ( cut a wee bit out). Hurt a bit but 95% success> guess what im trying to say is caught in time totally treatable and even with my pregnancy delay and pre cancerous cells i should be fine> please dont worry and the rest of you ladies get thee to a smear test asap
wiggles ahhh i have a Tayto supplier here ... home bargains sell them for 15p. Clearly scottish people do not know of their superior production in Ulsters countryside therefore i can buy in bulk
jane offer of coffee still stands (me and jane live near each other sort of as i live in 2 places check me!!). I had counselling for something before. Hated it at first but it really helped as weeks went on.
I am going to put some pics up in a minute. I have to warn you that Maeve looks like Jedward! tis frightening ... other 2 were baldy babies. I have yet to fufill my mission of a ginger baby (i'm a strawb blonde honest) so im very jealous of the ginger princesses out there

Emski76 · 22/05/2011 17:24

Irish, had to pop on quickly to say I am loving Maeves hair, it's fantastic! And not at all Jedward like.

ledkr · 22/05/2011 17:45

Oh thanks irish and elle, who'd have thought i eh? I feel a bit fraudulent having a wobble when you 2 have been going thru shit, sorry guys.
Well dh is home thank God,i dont know how id cope without his arse sat on the sofa watching games of football that arent even important Hmm has been very good re the letter but its the total awe consumation that occurs during football. I have not even got dressed today,i shredded in my pjs and have been too busy panicking to shower and dress,am going to do it in abit, have just told dh i am officially signing off for the day and she needs a bath and bedtime, take note oh ye of the useless dh Grin

ledkr · 22/05/2011 17:49

oh Irish your dd's hair has made my day, bloody hillarious. Dilly is a, ahem; red head.I have no idea where its come from. You say you are ancient,i bet you arent as relic as me

tadjennyp · 22/05/2011 18:16

That hair is lovely irishqueen! Well done ledkr on getting dh to take over. Wiggles is a spring chicken compared to me too!

irishqueen · 22/05/2011 18:27

i was 38 2 weeks ago! how the feck did that happen? i still get affronted when not asked for id buying fags .... evil smoker i am afraid
ledkr i actually have been ok with the smear thing. had a wee tear when she did the lletz thingy but in my head i am 21 and invincible! however ou have been seriously ill and know that this shit is real. Prob better than missus blase ostrich head in sand
my dp has a slight sniffle ... he is in a diff city from me at mo half the week> he can feck right off and back again for sympathy> recent quotes when Maeve woke at 6 and I was on own with all three "thats not too early" yet a day earlier he had told me he couldnt cope getting up at that time every day! he slept till 9 every day he was on paternity. Im breast feeding but it would be nice if he took over after she was fed. Im a single parent half the week whilst he gets long lies and can watch tv without interruptions. Even when he baths her ... i run it and then listen to wheres the shampoo etc?
first time dad and i need to grow a pair ... he has no idea what a real baby is like ...Maeve arrived in 55 mins, feeds like a dream and sleeps all night. .... if Carlsberg made babies

ledkr · 22/05/2011 18:48

Yes my dh is first timer too, its my 5th i had a shit pg which he managed to pretty much ignore apart from when yelled at,then i had section so all nice and planned and no drama. Baby was very ill tho so i think reality hit home then and he has been pretty good was it not for his "condition" of being the most easily distracted human being ever.Literally goes into a trance over tv,pc,ps3 or paper, drives me bonkers, hes feeding dilly and watching tv and she will be trying to suck on a teat dangling from her mouth.Works hellish hrs too.
The other day i mused "it must be lovely to have a baby that you have little part in making and then only get to do about 20% of the child care."
Have you struggled with the transistion? I found going from having the older ones to having a baby has been hard,i miss my independence and tiem with my dd1 oh yes and my social life Hmm Getting there tho, helped by the fact that Dilly is just delightfull and so funny.

40Weeks · 22/05/2011 18:55

Ha ha Irish queen i am loving the hair, and the nose to nose pic with big sis. Gorgeous.

I thought I posted yesterday eve but it hasn't appeared but had mentioned how gorgeous debka and mizk pics were. Deb I don't know how you do it, my dh can be a great help and is very hands on and yet I still feel in the midst of a breakdown.

Mikey is feeding so I am cuddled up in armchair with him while dh handles ds1&2 - it's bath/bedtime. Good luck son, I say there are a right pair today.

We had a nice anniversary meal from M's last night but can you believe ( and I doubt you will but it's true) I fell asleep before the choc cheesecake! The upside is that I have it to look forward too. I have fingers in ears lalalala about shred DVD and ignoring it will we get back from hols.

Ok Mikey is Officially Asleep so technically I should go and help getting the demon children to bed. Sigh

40Weeks · 22/05/2011 18:57

Also, meant to say I LOVE tayto crisps! My mum always used to bring me some when she went home to Dublin, along with some Kimberley biscuits. Now apparently I am 'too old for that'

ILovePonyo · 22/05/2011 19:19

Hello talkative lot, ledkr I hope you're feeling better about the letter and glad you managed to get a bit of reassurance on here. There are some things that happen to me/I thinmk of and the first thing I think of is posting on mn Hmm Grin

jane glad to hear you can smile when thiinking of Z, I didn't even think of you having to go into her room (ignorant emoticon) and you are so brave being able to do so. £2500 for SANDS?! Amazing! I do think you should push for a referral for counselling if you want to try it, who knows it might help, it might not, but worth a go? I was a bit Hmm at "grieving normally", who is the gp to decide that?

Fab photo irish, you should see if you can keep growing the hair up rather than flattening it down Grin I didn't get ID'd for wine today and was rather upset, I usually do so dd is obviously aging me!

I have a feeling 40weeks, expat and I will be getting our shred dvds at around the same time, we will be aching and creaking together ladies!

Elle I;m unsure about travel cots too, don't want to confuse dd too much with going from moses basket to travel cot then her own room, but her proper cot doesn't fit in our room and she is rapidly getting bigger and bigger in her moses basket. Though a week ago I didn't know what a travel cot was Wink

Had a friend over today, dd was booing and grumpy for most of the time, I was relieved in a way b'cos most of the time she's so good and people assume she's like it all the time :)

I think she may have pooed now (hurray! was thinking it would be a poo in the night even again tonight) so bath time and bed for her. Early night for me.

Oh ledkr I know you're a fan of horror films, theres a film called The Orphan on tonight 9pm channel 4 (i think) I'm going to sky+ it, looks pretty good.
Sorry idn't have a chance to do more replies but you lot talk too much! Grin

ledkr · 22/05/2011 19:24

yes dd is getting rather large for her basket too,i have a travel cot so may try that,i worry about her being stuck on her back all night and not being able to move about,id recommend putting the moses into the next bed for about a week, get her used to the surroundings.
Yes am planning an orphan watch, just in bath while dh puts d to bed and then my roast is calling to me.

tadjennyp · 22/05/2011 19:30

Happy belated birthday Irishqueen! I'll be 39 in a few months time. Staring 40 down the barrel of a gun! Grin

wigglesrock · 22/05/2011 20:01

I'm practically a young thing now, going to unhoist bosoms but still bagsie my place on the oldie bench.

Glad you're feeling a bit better ledkr Mr W can be a little self obsessed sometimes, I jokingly call him "my rock" but he's just in and had a really bad day at work - young fella, too fast car, slippery road. He had to see the family etc Sad

irish fab photos - they are all lovely, 15p, 15p for a packet of Tayto, bloody Scottish philistines and I'm including you jane in that Grin

Well lunch went better than I thought, Anna hasn't slept all day again, but was happy enough to be held and cooed over. Again taking after her Dad!!

debka · 22/05/2011 20:05

Hi everyone you chatty bunch,

irishqueen Maeve's hair cheered me up after a pretty crappy day, thanks :)

ledkr Dilly went back to normal after her weird night didn't she? I don't think I can face another like last night, keep telling S it's a good job she's cute... I don't know much about smears, but I always go for mine since a friend had a hysterectomy after cervical cancer. She's only my age :( You're doing all the right things by having the smear, there's no more you can do so don't waster you energy worrying, save it for The Shred.

Had a busy old day despite everything, had to do a lunch for 13 and deliver it in town, took Imy to the playground on the way back which made her day :) Managed to have a nap during the Grand Prix dreaming about Mark Webber mmmmmmm Grin

jane I would have burst into tears in front of your bully of a gp, I would make a complaint TBH, it's not for HIM to decide 'how' you are grieving, FFS surely that's a COUNSELLOR's job??!! £2500 for SANDS that is brilliant well done you and Zoe.

I am thinking of having my hair cut off. I have very long thick curly hair which sounds lovely but in reality it is always tied back and I feel like I want to have a more grown up sort of look and start looking after myself a bit more. I think maybe if I cut my hair into a pretty style I'll have the umption to start losing weight and get a bit fitter. What do you think? I've had my hair long because DH likes it like that but since he so rarely looks at me, I'm going to do what I want instead.

irishqueen love love love the hair....could do with passing some onto Nate...still as bald as a coot Grin

Meant to ask where abouts you are in Scotland...I'm from Glasgow but live in SE London/Kent Borders...haven't lost the accent in 10 years, much to the confusion of all my southern friends Grin

Meant to say wobbly you mentioned Nate had acne? My Nate had the same til about 4 weeks ago...discovered the body shops burriti baby body butter...cleared it up in no time & he smells amazing when using it! Recommended it to my fellow nct mums & they all love it too!

debka · 22/05/2011 20:07

ledkr are you MNing in the bath? Now that's dedication! Wink

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 22/05/2011 20:11

Debka Cut it, Cut it, cut it. I cut mine a few years ago and have never regretted it but I'm crap with hair so it was just always tied back.

wigglesrock · 22/05/2011 20:27

ledkr meant to ask you have you been able access my photos?, was fixing something earlier and noticed I had spelt your name with capital "L", not sure if Mumsnet mates are case sensitive Hmm
