cinnamon those chunky pics are gorgeous! Sooo munchable. That is proof that they do even out when they become active.

comix glad you're looking forward to going back to work. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into my drama again rather than watching crap tv whilst Harlyn naps but I just know I'm gona miss my Baba. I'll certainly be putting my cutest picture up in our little office or maybe even in the studio so I can look at his cute little face all day!

saoirse I don't know why we worry!!! I think for me it's got to be the comments from family and their comparisons of him and my nephew! It's like "ooh he's so much bigger than Jackson was" or "OMG look at his chunky legs, he's got rolls on top of rolls". Well I've decided that I'm going to be proud of my chunk and his rolls, I just love cuddling and munching him. Grin

saoirse86 · 20/05/2011 11:51

maple my sister has a chicco liteway too. It's not the most amazing pushchair but it's light, small, lies completely flat and the hood can be moved all the way forward to block the sun more (although that then leaves a gap at the back but it seems to work out well). She got it ridiculously cheap from babies r us. We think they made a mistake with discounts because it ended up being £50!!! She decided she didn't mind it being blue for her DD if it was so cheap. Grin

£70 here
£78

This is a list in price order (hopefully)

Beware some come with a raincover and footmuff, some don't.

I was supposed to meet a friend of mine today at the park but I had a text from her to say that her waters broke and she's in hospital and they're trying to stop her going into labour :(. She's 30 weeks and had a horrendous time with the first, natural delivery but her placenta got stuck resulting in surgery, 5 units of blood and a stay in icu. They told her when she got pregnant that she would have to have a ecs and that if the placenta was stuck again she would have to have a hysterectomy at the same time. Seen consultant this afternoon and they are hoping to keep baby in until 34 weeks so 4 weeks in hospital plus her placenta is stuck so she will be losing her womb. She has asked me to visit which of course I will but I'm just so thankful for my babies now and feeling very very lucky.

Dixiebell · 20/05/2011 18:57

cinnamon, how horrendous for your friend. Really makes you appreciate (even more) what you have when you hear something like that. hope it works out for her.

mapletrees · 20/05/2011 22:42

That's awful for your friend cinnamon. I hope she and her baby are both ok. Things like that really do put all the everyday challenges our babies put us through into perspective...

Thanks newmum and saoirse for the advice on pushchairs. I think I'm going to have a look on ebay for a second hand Chicco Liteway Smile

bananacurry · 22/05/2011 09:35

Oh my goodness! A whole day with no posts! Whats going on???

Cinnamon hope everything goes well for your friend. At least hopefully she will have 2 healthy babies and they'll have a healthy Mummy!

I have a poorly Olly! Not sure if its teeth or a cold but he's snotty, off his food, got a hacking cough & just a bit miserable. I'm having to dose him up on calpol but unfortunately that constipates him. I can't win!

We went to see sone friends and their 3 week old yesterday. They looked exhausted & are questioning everything they're doing, wanting to do everything right & referring to books for everything. It reminded me how uncertain you are with your first baby, analysing everything.

Its party day here today. We've got a 2nd birthday party from 11-1, then going to see my grandma who is finally out of hospital after 3 months then off to my mums because it was her birthday yesterday. Hope everyones ok & having a good weekend.

Oh and Mapletrees I have a Chicco liteway too. Its great! not as bulky as a big pushchair but somehow seems a but sturdier than some of the other litttle ones. Lays completely flat too which is always a must for me!

Dixiebell · 22/05/2011 10:23

Been for a run this morning. Only 15 mins and it nearly killed me, but it's a start! Advantage of having a little un around is that an 8am run doesn't even feel early :)

Debs75 · 22/05/2011 18:45

It's been quiet here!
Lucy has caught our colds, she is running a slight temp and has a horrid cough, on the plus side it does mean she is sleeping well. It hasn't put her off her food though.

Am thinking of giving her 1 ff a day soon. I want to stop bf at about a year and when I tried stopping with dd2 it took me months. I thought if I started ff early then it might be easier this time. Anyone got any suggestions on a good formula to choose?

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2011 20:14

I have no idea Debs75, I wouldn't have even thought of giving a ff now to help stop bfing in a few months. With ds1 we went out for night when he was 15 months and as he only had a 2-3 min feed at bedtime I didn't bother to express and asked my mum to give him cows milk in a beaker. The next night I gave him the same and he sat on my lap and drank it, never asked again!

I bought Luke some shoes today! I really don't like pram shoes and ds1 didn't have shoes until he was 13 months but Luke wants to walk holding fingers all the time so his socks are filthy and covered in bits. He is a size 3, sooooo cute and he sat so nicely to be measured and so far hasn't tried to take them off.

Had a lovely day today, had to get a few bits today with the boys then when I got back dh was home and we all walked (ds1 on his bike) to the coffee shop in the town with my neighbours. Was lovely apart from the puncture on the pushchair :(

Hope olly and Lucy are both well soon. And go Dixiebell, you'll be back to your old fitness level before you know it Grin

saoirse86 · 22/05/2011 20:16

Cinnamon I hope your friend is ok. It must be so scary for her. Sad

Dixie well done on the run. I can only manage a walk to the kitchen and back! Blush

Debs Can't you substitute some feeds with water rather than formula? Or is she not having enough solids yet for that to work out? A lot of people say Aptamil is the closest to breast milk but I don't know how close IYSWIM.

Orlaith's got a cough and runny nose too but is sleeping a lot worse with it. Even a bit of Nurofen hasn't helped much. Well it really has been a little bit because she spits most of it out. Even using the syringe to give it to her doesn't help. Any suggestions for how I can get it into her when it's needed?

bananacurry · 22/05/2011 21:02

Debs I had ds1 on Aptamil cos that what the hospital advised as like saoirse says its apparently the closest to breast milk although thats complete c**p cos how can you create something like breast milk! Anyway, he ended up on cow & gate because of various reasons & Olly has always been on cow & gate. So I'd recommend that!

My SIL has been told the baby is already weighing around 6lb & she's got 4 weeks to go! Looks like its gonna be a biggun!

Ollys a bit better tonight. Even though its been a busy day, I managed to put him down for a sleep at 3 & he had a good hour and a half, woke up, ate a massive tea and has settled into bed ok. Ds1 seems to be starting with it, he keeps stopping suddenly, screwing up his face & announcing "I got bogie!" So funny! He had so much sugar today that he was bouncing off the walls tonight & has finally settled off in our bed. He's never done that! Oh, Olly had his 1st taste of chocolate today. We wanted to wait till a year but he grabbed Ds1s spoon out of his bowl of chocolate cake & shoved it in his mouth! You should've heard him scream when we took it off him! Think he's going to be a chocoholic like the rest of the family! We will continue to wait till he's 1 tho. I'm not ready to share just yet Grin

Dixiebell · 22/05/2011 21:12

Those of you who are still BFing, how many BFs a day do your babies take? Arlo is now on 4 a day, before breakfast, mid-morning, mid-afternoon and bedtime. Plus 3 solid meals. His BF sessions can be very short, sometimes just a few minutes, and sometimes one or more just doesn't happen at all. He doesn't really demand more. Just wondering how this compares to other BFers? I see other babies downing 9oz bottles of formula and think there's no way Arlo gets anywhere near that amount from me!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2011 21:43

Luke has 3-4 a day, when he gets up, midmorning/straight after lunch if he has a shorter nap, 4ish and bedtime. When he has a bottle he will have 6oz but ds1 had 9oz at the same age with his childminder. I was on a thread about the same thing and opinions varied (I'll go and find it). My feeling is that if they need it they ask, that's the whole point of demand feeding but others were saying you should offer more often. He is having dairy in other ways and who knows really how much they are having at each feed. Luke will NEVER turn down milk so I don't offer for the sake of it as I feel I would be over feeding, he let's me know when he wants milk just as he has since he was little.

saoirse86 · 22/05/2011 21:45

My sister still BF's her DD and she has about 6 a day I think. But then she's still waking a couple of times in the night so those are probably really short.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2011 21:49

here it is

newmum001 · 22/05/2011 21:58

Saoirse i find Grace will take medicine a lot easier if i let her hold the syringe, then i just wait for her to put it in her mouth (she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth) then just fire it in Grin it usually does the trick although she's used to having medicine as she's still on 2 doses of ranitidine a day.

Debs - have no idea on formula, Grace is on SMA but i didn't have any particular reason for choosing it.

Cinnamon i hope you're friend is ok.

Dixie - grace has 4 6 oz bottles a day, one when she wakes up, one at 11ish, one at 4ish and one before bed.

mapletrees · 22/05/2011 22:27

dixie Louis has a similar pattern to Arlo - one before breakfast (6:30-7am), one about 10:30am, one about 2:30pm, one at bedtime (7pm) - but he also still has at least one at some point in the night. I've been trying to wean him off that one but he doesn't think that's a good idea Grin. He feeds pretty quickly too, usually less that 10mins (often less than 5), and refuses either the mid-morning or mid-afternoon feed every few days or so..

watersprite · 23/05/2011 00:19

Hi ladies :)

Not had chance to catch up properly yet. Well dd1 had her Confirmation today and I must say she looked absolutely stunning Wink we are very proud of her!

Maria-Ann still has no teeth through but is really grumpy, she is biteing everything in site. I'm using Abesol liquid and have tried all the gel's. I've given her calpol and she even has these teething dummies, she is slavering loads and I mean i'm constantly changing her bibs Hmm don't really know what else I can do Confused but she gets so upset and when i put her in the cot at night I have to change the covers because she tries eating them and then there wet through! just wished I could take the pain away Sad

I'm back in Uni Tuesday, excited but nervous. I have a mock interview and have been preparing but I'm so tired, just hope I can remember and hopefully it's all sunk in Wink. I'm out in practice 6th June for 12 weeks, this will be my management placement and I will be consolidating all my learning Smile hope I can remember all my clinical skills. The ward I've been allocated is male respiratory so I should learn loads. Just got to juggle homelife and placement! dreading nights but they have to be done, wished I'd got them out of the way earlier!

Hope everyone is keeping well, catch up soon :)

saoirse86 · 23/05/2011 10:49

I actually hadn't thought of that newmum thanks. She prefers to hold a spoon herself so maybe she'd prefer that too. Smile

Orlaith slept loads better last night than she has recently. I think it was because she spent the whole of yesterday crawling around and standing up at every given opportunity. The previous few days she seemed to have spent a lot of time in the car seat or pushchair. I think I might let her crawl about as much as possible now if I'm going to get a good night's sleep out of it. Grin

It's amazing how fast they're developing now isn't it. I wonder how long it'll be till we get our first proper walking baby! Next month: Cycling! Wink

patito · 23/05/2011 14:47

hi all,

not been on for ages, as we were all ill last week with tummy bug, so bad i had to ask MIL to come and stay over to help with DCs (now you now its bad when you need to resort to that Grin). Then just all finally getting back on our feet and DS has got an ear infection, was back at DRs today after he woke crying and gripping his head last night. Sad.

On brighter side Maia seems a bit better and mouth ulcer disappeared.

She feeds maybe 4-6 times a day, and still feeds at night, maybe wakes about 3 times. I have managed to stop feeding her to sleep at night though which is a big step and am hoping to do nap aswell. Its so much harder though as she´s just not as tired, and wont drop off without screaming her head off, and then with DS around its immpossible.

Lovely sunny weather here today, hope DS is up to a walk to the park at least.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2011 19:13

Not a very exciting post but I got my period yesterday so definitely no second sept 10 thread baby, still just sassy34264!

Gave Luke curry for the first time today and he wasn't impressed ate about 1/4!

Wow patito, hats off to for STILL feeding that many times a night how are you not a zombie?

Haven't heard from FriggFRIGG for a while wondering if her Arlo is walking already saoirse86. You were in my dream the other day was very strange, randomly met up with you and I looked after orlaith while you went to your exam! Night time is a very strange time for me, I do all sorts of things and my dreams are very vivid!

comixminx · 23/05/2011 20:36

It seems like Aphra feeds quite a lot during the day still, though it's partly because I offer it fairly often. She has one in the morning when she wakes up, and another before her morning nap, then one when she wakes up from that nap; and then again another before her afternoon nap, one when she wakes up from that nap, another later in the afternoon, and a good long feed before she goes to bed at night. Plus other smaller sips as I offer... She feeds quickly nowadays and is eating more volume since we got back from our travels, so I think she's on the edge of moving into solid food being a more major part of her diet than it has been.

patito, sorry to hear you've all been under the weather! Hope it will all even out now.

Saoirse, Aphra has had a couple of nights of solid sleep after bouncing around all day! It's not foolproof but we're definitely encouraging her to bounce during the day Grin - though it's tiring for me too!

We've put the house on the market and have had a few views but no offers so far. Not that we're in a massive hurry but as soon as you start to look you see things you're interested in (hopefullly). I'm wondering about getting a cleaner, if it was just for us I'm not that bothered but it isn't going to be easy / possible to have it show-room style while looking after Aphra too.

Dixiebell · 23/05/2011 21:06

Thanks for the BF advice all, and the discussion on that thread is interesting, cinnamon, shows how there's probably no right answer! I think I will continue offering the 4 feeds a day but not worry if we miss one or if he doesn't take much.

One of Arlo's favourites is Chicken Korma, cinnamon, with apricot so it's quite sweet. He had it for lunch today and I got a few curry burps this afternoon!

saoirse86 · 24/05/2011 11:54

Did frigg say Arlo was cruising? Thinking about it maybe she did. Confused What exactly is the difference between cruising and walking? Blush

cinnamon how weird about your dream. You're helpful and considerate in your sleep as well as in real life! Wink

comix I had no such luck last night. Plenty of crawling and climbing on stuff but not much sleep. Sad

Orlaith, 8 months today Grin

mellymooks · 24/05/2011 12:13

Hello lovelies, sorry I never seem to manage to post much, or comment on what's going on, but I do read it all!! Flynn is still feeding a fair bit probaby 4 or 5 times in the day and 2 or 3 feeds through the night.

Flynn is also cruising around the furniture, saoirse cruising is wandering around holding onto stuff to get around, rather than walking without anything to hold onto. Flynn kind of lets go of stuff for a few seconds and balances then falls over! He is very fast at getting places now and seems to have a million tumbles a day.

Flynn 8months, 2days!!
