Dont worry newmum Grace has just hit the "flip" button (next to watch this thread button) - just turns everything round so you dont have to go to the end of the thread.

Well, Louis is catching on fast. I always make a point of waving and saying "bye-bye" when I leave him so he knows I'm going (and doesn't get worried about me sneaking off at other times), so when I wave as I'm leaving the room after feeding him just now, he screws up his little face and breaks into a heart-wrenching wail. I know that staying will just prolong the agony, so I go out and put my shoes back on. This takes me, oh, 3 seconds, and after I peak back into the room to see the little munchkin happily playing with a toy having completely forgotten about me Grin

Debs75 · 17/05/2011 16:06

Well last night was a better night. took Lucy upto bed about 10.30 and she didn't wake until 5.30ish. She was still in my bed but I don't lay as close to her as I did, I have DP's side and she has mine, DP has the setteeGrin
We have got a bed in our room for DD2 so when she is settled in that we will try and get Lucy into her cot. Lucy's cot I am selling seen as she hasn't used it.

Mapletrees Lucy hasn't got the hang of 'object permanence' either, they develop it about 9 months and it is when they realise that just because they can't see it it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. They usually get it quicker with mum and dad but toys are often more fun

saoirse86 · 17/05/2011 19:02

Orlaith's been really whingy today. She's all bunged up with a runny nose. Every time I put her down, leave the room, or she just can't see me she cries her little heart out. She was just sick on me so I put her down and stepped 3 feet away to get some tissue and she was crawling after me and wrapped herself round my leg. She's also managed to sneak in an extra nap today while we were in the car. What do you reckon, teething maybe? Confused

SeaChelles · 17/05/2011 19:17

saoirse - Olly gets bunged up when a tooth is on the way - so yep prob teething.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 17/05/2011 19:43

Hey guys! Need a bit of help. We still have loads of things boxed in our garage since moving house including harlyn's red book. I took him to be weighed yesterday but can't check was percentile he is on now. Could someone with a boys chart check for me please. At last weigh in he was in the middle of the 91st. He is now 33 wks and 23lbs 15oz. Thank you x

Hope everyone is well. comix i hope Aphra is ok . I'm dreading Harlyn getting Chicken Pox as I've never had it and am bound to catch it.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/05/2011 20:01

That's 10.85kg which puts him above 98th at 33 weeks!! Ds1 was 24lb 1oz at the same age so harlyn must be pretty big comparing to him!

I put red wine in my spag Bol bananacurry so can't see a problem myself. Not sure about your confidence in my though newmum001 Hmm

Glad all going well mapletrees Grin

Gotta go back in a sec :)

cinnamongreyhound · 17/05/2011 20:45

Glad to hear some of us are getting some more sleep!! Luke is sleeping through most nights now but I am totally knackered all the time at the moment :(. Not sure what is going on but am starting to be a bit worried I'm pregnant, I have a coil but haven't had a period for 7 weeks now and I my cousin did get pregnant with one. Will give it to the end of the week and then buy a test just in case. Otherwise I have no idea why I'm so tired when I'm sleeping all night, although I do have a cold so could be related to that.

One of my mums is due on 23rd and I have offered to be here birth partner today Shock. She is going to be on her own as her dh doesn't want to be there, her sister lives in Cornwall, her mum is not well enough and she has no friends she can ask. I'm so rubbish at saying no and although she didn't directly ask she was in my house crying about it all and couldn't bear the thought of anyone being alone giving birth. I told dh when he got home and he burst into laughter, he is a total nightmare and I complain about her a lot to him so I guess he was totally surprised. I am on holiday from 28th so won't be here if she hangs around, she didn't say yes but said thank you lots so she might not even take me up on it.

newmum001 · 17/05/2011 20:59

Oh my god cinnamon i'm so jealous! I'd love to be someones birth partner, even someone i don't like very much/don't know very well. I just want to see it all from the other end. I feel a bit bad cause i don't remember much about being in labour as i was very off my face on gas and air and whatever else they gave me. It's all a total blur!

Are you happy about possibly being pregnant? It does sound like you could be but maybe you're just a bit run down. Also stress can cause periods to be late and you've had a bit of that recently with your DH's job situation.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 17/05/2011 22:40

OMG! Can't believe he's jumped up another percentile! I haven't increased his portion sizes since he was about 5.5 months. Maybe I'm giving him too many carbs???? I'm sure it will come off once he starts crawling aa he's only rolling at the mo! Thanks for that cinnamon. Good luck with the test too. Are u secretly hoping you are? I can't wait to have another bab, just can't afford it with the house move. I'm going to wait till Harlyns about 3 before I start trying again I think.

newmum001 · 18/05/2011 09:20

Jodey grace went up the centiles really quickly between about 5.5 months and 7 months but it's evened out now. He's only eating what he wants, if he didn't want it he wouldn't eat it. He's just got a good appetite!

Quick question, i'm going out next thursday afternoon and DP's mum is having Grace at her house but she's having her over her nap time. Now hopefully she'll be getting used to self settling by then but i don't know how well she'll cope in a different environment with no cot etc. Should i bother getting MIL to try self settling? I honestly think that rocking/bouncing etc is too much stimulation for her and it can take ages but i don't want to inflict crying on MIL or for grace too get worked up. I guess what i'm asking is if MIL does rock her to sleep it won't set us back on self settling will it?

bananacurry · 18/05/2011 10:08

Jodey How long is he? If he's in proportion its all good. The baby I saw theother day who was 27lb at 7 months was also long so he looked fine.

Cinnamon I'd go with being run down & stressed but a test is a good idea. Ohh, exciting maybe pregnancy number 2 on the sept 10 thread!

These threads last around 3 months. Had a bit of a Shock last night when I realised the title of the next one will have something to do with 1st birthdays in it! It only seems like yesterday that the birth announcements were flowing in!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 18/05/2011 10:48

banana I haven't had him measured for a while but last time he was at the top end if the 75th. He looks in proportion. I think he's probably had a growth spurt. And thanks newmum for the reasurance x x

i'm going back to work on the 6th of June! Really not looking forward to it as it will be full time for the 7 weeks left at school. Fortunately, after getting very upset after visiting a nursery, we have managed to wangle family babysitters as it's only for a short time. I have now found a lovely nursery ready for September when I go back for just 3 days. Anyone else gone back to work yet and any advice on how to cope with missing your LO and not breaking into tears in front of a class full of teenagers???

mapletrees · 18/05/2011 12:14

Jodey I'm officially back at work, full-time as of Monday Sad. However, I'm using up my leave for a couple of weeks, so have only been in the office for approx. 15mins Grin. I think you just have to accept that you will miss them, especially at first, but it will get easier as you both get used to it. It really helps to be confident in the people you are leaving them with. I don't think I could do it if I didn't really like the nursery staff. And as the others have said, you shouldn't worry about Harlyn's size at this age. Although Louis is quite average sized, I have 3 friends who had enormous babies, one of which climbed up the centiles until he was literally off the scale, but he was very healthy and did slim down once he got mobile.

Ooo cinnamon. There are so many reason's you could be tired (are you eating properly?), but being preggers is definitely the most exciting Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2011 13:52

Have done a test (my friend had a spare) and it was negative, phew!! I would love another baby but now would be disastrous financially as it would take up one of my childminding spaces which could mean a loss of £600+ per month.

I honestly wouldn't worry ds1 was between 98th and 99.6th centile and only 91st for length but he has thinned out and is down to 75th centile and I think he's pretty average now. I really feel for you JodeyBogeyPicker, I went back to work with ds1 when he was 6months and left him 7.30-5. I would say make sure you're busy and that makes it easier. I also had my favourite picture above my bench which made me smile every time I looked up. Can't imagine you will I've a moment to worry being a teacher anyway! I also often got picture message from ds1's Childminder which was lovely as I knew he was having a good time. Just focus on the fact it's 7 weeks and remember why you're going to work and how much you mean to your students :)

I think that because it's someone different it won't set you back newmum001 but perhaps ask mil to try. Ds1 always settled better for other people than me anyway!

newmum001 · 18/05/2011 14:05

I think i'll ask her to give it a go, she's a no nonsense kind of woman anyway so i know she can handle it. She's got a travel cot at hers so i'll ask her to set it up upstairs. Grace has stayed at hers overnight twice and is very familiar with her house anyway as we go there every weekend.

Glad you got the result you were hoping for with the test.

bananacurry · 18/05/2011 19:30

Well, I gave olly the mince in boddingtons & I've never seen him eat so enthusiatically or as much!

Jodey I went back when ds1 was 8 months. It was fine. He went to a friend who was a childminder so like you I had the comfort of knowing he was with someone he knew. When you go back in sept & he goes to nursery you'll be used to leaving him! Being at work will keep you occupied & you can always ring whoevers got him to make sure he's ok.

MammyG · 18/05/2011 20:28

Hi all
My baby is going to be 5 tomorrow!! Cannot believe it! ITs hard to believe that I am only a mom 5 years! it feels like ages and only yesterday - weird! Im in the process of baking a rocket ship cake!
We are all enthralled with the Queens visit here - she is some woman for one woman. Cant believe how much she is doing in her few days here and shes in her 80's! Id be knackered doing half of it. It really is historic tho and cant believe the amount of people commenting how they are more affected than they thought they would be.
Phoebe is still taking it easy - no teeth and not nearly as busy as some of yours bar maybe in chat! Think she will be like DS1 and never stop talking! She isnt talking off yet but she kicks her legs so much she is being nicknamed Flatley (after riverdance!) She is waving bye bye and its the cutest thing. We have to go to a wedding in France on july 23rd. We are debating 3-4 days just me and DH or a week all 5 of us? Im not sure Im ready to be away from Phoebe for 4 days just yet but then a few days away with DH would be lovely especially as he will be away for almost a month before that.
Ok back to the kitchen!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 18/05/2011 21:07

Thanks guys for your comments regarding H's weight and returning to work. you all give such great advice. I'm not going to worry about Harlyns weight anymore and I'm not going to heg him weighed again till he's 12 months as I just end up obsessing about it. He's happy and healthy and not eating any crap so that's all that matters. As u said, when he's on the move his weight will even out.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2011 21:35

This was the picture I had above my bench.

This is my chunk at 14 months still not walking!

This is him last summer watering the plants with Daddy after soaking himself so being forced to strip off (gets that tendancy from Daddy not me!), can even see a bit of rib!!

comixminx · 18/05/2011 22:10

Jodey, I'm also going back on the 6th June - for 2.5 days a week during June, and 4 days a week thereafter. I'm looking forward to it actually! But Aphra has yet to have her acclimatisation days at nursery, and of course that might well feel bad. She's such a sociable little person though that I find it more likely that she will be busy smiling at and charming the nursery folks and won't even notice I'm not there!

saoirse86 · 19/05/2011 10:45

Jodey I've also decided not to get Orlaith weighed for a while because I worry about it too much. She's not very long so does look a bit chubby but I'm sure she'll even out now she's crawling.

Newmum One occasion with your MIL, if she does end up rocking her to sleep, is surely unlikely to undo everything. But you might be surprised that she's progressed a lot in the next week and your MIL won't have too much trouble getting her to sleep. (Fingers crossed!)

Orlaith actually kind of self settled twice last night. Once after I'd fed her and put her in her cot still half awake, which would normally lead to fussing, then whinging, then crying. But I just left the room and in a few minutes she was asleep. The second time she woke up whinging but I just lay and listened and after a few minutes was asleep again. It may well be a fluke but I'm still pleased. Smile

MammyG I'm glad the queen's trip seems to have been a positive experience for you. And happy birthday MiniG!

Cinnamon I think we're all more disappointed by the BFN than you are! Wink

I hope sassy does come back to chat soon. I'd love to hear how Jacob and Isobel are getting on, and how on earth she's coping with everything. Confused

mapletrees · 19/05/2011 13:21

Can any of you recommend a good, fairly cheap, light weight stroller? We're going away in a few weeks and we want something smaller to take with us. Ideally it would have a hood for sun protection, and a rain cover. I'd also quite like a reclining seat as Louis tends to sleep when we're out quite often..

newmum001 · 19/05/2011 13:29

maple i got a chicco lightway stroller and i love it! have a look on mothercare and see if it's still on sale. Also MIL bought a chicco winter london stroller and thats also very good, they're both super light, both have hoods and both fully recline.

SeaChelles · 19/05/2011 20:23

AAAAAAAAAAAaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!! Nurseries are so god-damn expensive!!!!

Thats all. Sad
