Thanks melly! Blush Orlaith's not doing that then really. She just stands up against something like this, and might manage a foot or so either way but then gets stuck. She's started bending down and getting back up. Yesterday she let go of her toy box so she could hold her toy with both hands, she did a sort of slow motion comedy fall flat on her front but then just carried on crawling about! Grin

Orlaith's doing this weird thing where she keeps trying to go for my boobs, she tries to get them out, sucks on the parts she can get too. It's so strange. I never managed BF so I'm sure she can't remember how to do it at all. SHe does see my niece feeding though. Why do you think she's doing it? Confused

patito · 24/05/2011 13:47

saorise Dont think she´ll be trying to BF its probably cause they are gettable (is that a word?), round warm squashy things, usually at just the right height (if she´s sat on your lap), must be like a teddy to them and they suck on anything they get hold off.

cinammon We co-sleep, so its roll over, breast out and back to sleep for both of us. Dont know how much she really needs at night as Ive not even tried to settle her another way during the night, keep saying I will tackle it but keeps getting put off.

Right am off as Im offocially shopping on line this aft. Im in need of new summer clothes and the shops here are shite.

bananacurry · 24/05/2011 15:43

Afternoon all! Definately no cruising here. we're still trying to crack the weightbearing! Lazy sod! I trod on him today. Actually trod on him! Silly boy parked himself in the doorway & didn't tell me. Thats not where I left him. Whats that all about?????? I squished his arm and he got a shin in the face Sad

He's a bit brighter today. Ate a really good dinner and only pulled his torture face once. I've not needed to give him calpol so hopefull he's getting better!

Biggest problem I'm having is he's getting up anywhere from 5-5.30am! Its killing me slowly. I remember ds1 was the same and its just a phase but it's too early. He wakes, has some milk then happily plays in his cot but I don't settle back off cos he's so noisy & by 6am he's woken ds1 so he's up and running around. I really would like it to stop please!!!!!

Debs75 · 24/05/2011 17:09

Aarrgghh Lucy almost has her two bottom teeth! In fact one of them has pooped through.
Dixie I bf her about 8 feeds a day/night. Some feeds are tiny ones and some like the early evening ones are reallly long. The reason ff babies take more as they get older is because ff is suitable for all ages and the composition doesn't change. The older or hungrier a baby the more ounces thry need. Bm adapts to suit babies needs so they won't always take more as they grow older but it will be more nutritious.

I bought a couple of little bottles of formula for Lucy to try. I would quite happily bf for however long she wants but as I am still bf dd2 to sleep it is getting more difficult. I tried stopping when dd2 was 15 months and it took ages to get her down to just 2 feeds a day. I really want to stop bf dd2 but as she sees me bf Lucy and gets jealous I feel it will be easier to wean Lucy 1st

No cruising here either

SeaChelles · 24/05/2011 19:27

Hi guys.

Job interview here today. Went well. Even though I can't take the job if they offer it to me as it is full time, I went for the interview in the hope that they will love me so much that if they offer it to me they will be willing to think about condensing the hours or part time it. If nothing else it will reassure me that I can still bullshit interview well. Grin

Loads of cruising here, won't be suprised if he walks up behind me soon and asks for a cuppa! Shock I can't get over how fast he moves. He has however taken to following me EVERYWHERE whilst whining - as he wants me to hold his hands so he can walk round.... Hmm ....however I can add to my CV "can carry out all household tasks with child attached to one leg"...thats a recognised qualification right.....!? Wink

Feed wise, Olly still has 4 bottles a day (7am, 12pm, 4pm, 7pm) as well as all his meals and puds! He is a pig! But completely in proportion and I can already see his legs thinning out from all the running crawling. Apparently I ate just as much when I was his age..... Blush

On the favourite food note - Olly's fave seems to be either chicken or beef with veg and agravy done in the slow cooker. I swear he had a bowl bigger than I did the other day and would have licked it if i'd let him!

8 months on Thurs! Arghhh!!

Dixiebell · 24/05/2011 21:03

Chelle, Arlo's exactly the same with wanting to hold my fingers and be walked round. All day. He isn't crawling though, so can't follow me!

Talking of funny things you do in your sleep (as cinnamon was earlier), I frequently attack DH in the night, well in my mind I'm grabbing Arlo to stop him rolling off the side of the bed. In reality though, Arlo's never slept in our bed, doesn't even sleep in our room anymore and DH is the one getting grabbed. When Arlo was tiny I used to wake up with my hands on DH's face too, thought I was checking Arlo was still breathing. Blush DH barely reacts any more, just thinks poor neurotic mummy!

mapletrees · 24/05/2011 21:13

Chelle I definitely think you should put that down as a skill on your cv... I'd employ you Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2011 21:51

I used to dream that dh was rolling onto ds1 Dixiebell and push him off but ds1 never slept in our bed either, funny what your mind does!

Luke is the same with holding fingers and walking and he just wants to stand all the time but can pull himself up on anything but me.

Fingers crossed you get the result you want SeaChelles!

Dh is being a total arse at the moment, he takes EVERYTHING I say the wrong way and is just jumping at me for every tiny thing I say and reckons it's because of my period when actually it's him that seem hormonal. I'm trying really hard not to shout at him but he's doing my head in. Think we are both ready for our holiday, just hope he snaps out of it by then, grrrrrrr......... Angry

Dixiebell · 24/05/2011 22:27

cinnamon, don't mean to bring your mind back to work rather tgan holidays (sorry!), but am hoping to visit some childminders (and nurseries) next week. Have no idea what to look for/ask. Is there one thing you'd suggest I should look for? Or a key question I should ask?

You and DH should sit down in front of telly with a bottle of wine and some chocolate and embrace the hormones together Wink.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2011 22:50

I think it's very personal, you should like them straight away and it's good to see them with children so you can see if they are they way you would like them to be with arlo. They should have their Ofsted certificate on show, show you risk assessments, policies and give you idea of what they do with the children. Also you should get antour around to give you a feel of the space and nice to see pictures as well. With ds1's Childminder I just liked the way she was with the kids and she had very similar ideas on parenting to me, I went with my gut and I hope I was right. He was always happy to go there and she is still my friend on facebook and asks about him although he left there when he was 19months so doesn't remember her at all.

SeaChelles · 25/05/2011 08:42

Oliver has woken I with a black eye this morning..... Sad

He woke at about 10:30pm last night crying, which is not like him at all anymore as he has been sleeping right through for weeks now. We assumed he had a bad dream or something and after 5 mins he settled back off and we didn't hear him again until 7 this morning. Looks like he didn't have a bad dream though and has instead headbutted the side of his cot - which has resulted in a big black eye.....its not swollen or anything - just looks like a big eyeliner line under his eye along his cheekbone. I feel like such a bad mummy....I didn't even notice.... Sad

Poor sod is falling over all over the place, he is such a daredevil....we've had a few tears, but 99% of the time he just gets back up and carries on with what made him fall in the first place!

Dont really want to go anywhere now incase people think I've been beating him up.....Sad

SeaChelles · 25/05/2011 08:42

woken UP i should say not woken I!

mapletrees · 25/05/2011 09:01

Aww chelle poor Olly Sad. I'm sure it looks bad, but it can't have hurt too much if he only cried for 5 minutes... Don't let it trap you inside though... If anyone comments or gives you funny looks, just tell them you're teaching him to box and he hasn't quite mastered his guard yet Wink

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 09:52

hi everyone. long time no speak! hope everyone is good? we are all chugging along nicely at the minute, but we have had a rough ride! i still don't have internet, but one of the babies managed to slobber all over my old phone and broke it, so i got a new smart phone. i totally have fudge fingers and spend ages deleting when i press the wrong key, so there is no chance of me bothering with capitals etc- so forgive me.
i can't read everything i missed i would miss the same again if i did. thinking it would be a better idea if you all gave me the shorten version of the past 6 months!
mine is as follows-
jacob has 6 teeth, 4 front and 2 at the bottom. you know he's teething cos he tries to bite you alot, but never moans about it. isobel has 4, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. she is a frigging nightmare when she is teething- i have a totally different isobel. she cries and goes clingly all day long! it's literally jekel and hyde.
isobel weighs 18 pounds 7 at 9months and jacob weighs 20 pounds 3. they are both in the 50% centile for weight, jacob is in that for length and isobel is in that for head circumference. but jacob is in 75 for his head and isobel is only in the 9th centile for length! how cute is that. jacob loves food- massive understatement. ha. i struggled with isobel at the beginning, she was very loyal to the breastmilk. she would have 3-4 spponfuls and then clamp shut. but she can almost match jacob now. she's never going to catch up though cos she burns it off by never ever being still! they are both walking holding onto furniture and can both stand independently for a good 20-30 seconds before they fall down. jacob has beeb doing it for over a month- bit by bit. isobel just seems to go from not being able to do it, to doing it straight away, whereas jacob builds upto it all the time.
the reason it's been rough is me and dp. had a rocky ride for a few months.arguing alot. not speaking just being civil etc. didn't say at the time but we were barely speakig at the christening. i wouldn't say we where ever going to spilt up but i did question whether this was going to work. got to the point where i thought it would be better without him. came to a head easter weekend and we had massive row where everything came out. a lot better now.
other bad thing was my mole. remember i went to the docs about it before xmas and she said it wasn't a mole? well it got really itchy and i asked dp to look at it and his reaction was, bloody hell it's doubled! went straight to doc(same 1) and she said yes its a mole and you need urgent appointment! scared the hell out of me. urgent on the nhs was over a month wait just fir initial consultation. i'd already lost 5 months from when i first went docs. ended up paying to go private. was also scared cos of pregnancy-what treatment would ibeable to get whilst pregnant? got fabulous consultant who met me, booked operating theatre and removed it in 8days. can't tell you how awful those few weeks where. had to wait over 2 weeks for results cos it was over easter, bank hols, royal wedding etc- so everyone was off work. sobbed my heart out with relief when it came back benign. i've also changed docs!
chloe is the same as ever, mostly good but giving me regular back chat! she is off to high school in sept and is very excited. she is getting confirmed in 2 weeks and going away with school for a few days in 4 weeks time. had to buy her new shoes the other day and she measures 5 and a half!!!!!! at 10! i'm a 6. she'll be nicking my shoes soon. ha.
sorry for the long post. looking forward to reading all yours. x

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 10:01

forgot to say that i had to stop breast feeding a couple of weeks ago when nacob bit me. omg, he woudn't release, i realy thought my nipple was going to be in his mouth when i finally got him off. i had only been giving them a morning feed from 7 months though.
also dp is in afghanistan at the minute for 2 months so worrying a lot about that at the minute. he went sun but not heard from him yet. he's not fighting, but he has to travel to all the army bases, which is treacherous. just trying not to think about it.

saoirse86 · 25/05/2011 10:24

sassy it's so good to hear from you! Grin And what a rollercoaster it's been for you over the last few months.

It's no wonder you and your DP would be arguing with all the stress of the move, the mole, the pregnancy, 3 children, his work etc etc, but I'm glad you're better now. I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine while you're away, but it must be worrying when he struggles to get a chance to call you.

It sounds like Jacob and Isobel are doing really well. If frigg's (was she clumsy when you were last around) Arlo isn't already walking, it looks like your 2 will be the first! Grin I bet they encourage each other a lot. My mum says my sister and I always did things really close together because we were watching the other one. I even think Orlaith and my niece do it too because they see eachother every day and they're really competitive!

I'm pleased the mole was nothing and I don't blame you for changing doctors after that. It must have been such an agonising wait for the appoitnment and the results. Confused Sad

How's the pregnancy going? How many weeks are you? Have you even had time for all the sickness and tiredness? Wink It sounds as though it must be the one thing going smoothly as you haven't really mentioned it! I hope so anyway. Smile

saoirse86 · 25/05/2011 10:31

Here's my update...

Orlaith's now crawling and starting to cruise a bit (although that's only happened in the last few days really). She's about 20lb at 8 months so between 75th and 91st centile for weight. But I haven't had her weighed in 4 months so not sure. Blush Her hair's starting to grow eventually and it's bright red. I love my gorgeous chubby ginger baby! Grin

I had exams for my OU degree a couple of weeks ago and they were awful but I'm just glad they're over. Now just a few assignments and no more exams till October, so I'm looking forward to enjoying the summer. We actually went to a friend's yesterday with some other mum friends and babies and sat in the garden drinking rose. I could get used to this being a mum lark! Wink

Oh and hoping to never having to go back to work.

Debs75 · 25/05/2011 11:07

Great to see you Sassy
Here's my update

Lucy can finally sit up by herself, she isn't crawling yet or cruising but she likes to stand up. she has 1 bottom tooth and another 3 are really close. Am still bf but if she bites I will probably give her a bottle. Bf for 3 years is starting to take a toll. She was 18lbs at 9 months and is on the 25% for height, weight and head. Her hair is starting to grow and it is a mix of ginger and mousey brown. She is super clingy and doesn't like to be left. She loves food and is a star at feeding herself. she is still in my bed tho as she is a super light sleeper and wakes up if you attempt to move her

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 11:18

saoirse86 hi. your right, the pregnancy is the least of my probs. it is an absolute breeze in comparison to the twin one. morning sickness wasn't even a tenth as bad. i was sick as a dog with twins, morning noon and night for about 4 months. this time it was just around 6pm till bed, which was about 8pm! ha. thats been the biggest symptom-exhaustion. i've left chloe in her bed reading a few times as her bed time is 9pm while i've gone to sleep. i'm not as bad now though. i am guzzling gaviscon though. thats my only symptom at minute. didn't get much heartburn with twins but got loads with chloe. it is the 1 baby this time.
hope you do well on your exam. i'm not convinced they do encourage one another really, they do play/grap things off each other etc, but i wouldn't say they notice much about each other. like i said jacob tends to do things gradually over time and isobel just comes along and does it first try. jacob is nearly always first at everything though.
the house has been hard hard hard. dp was tired and down about the house and i was tired with babies nd pregnancy and neither of us were very supportive to the other really. i even told him at one point to stay in bath and not bother coming back at weekends cos i didn't want his miserable negative attitude every weekend. oops. its nearly done now though. i have had a bulder in yesterday to quote me on the remainder jobs. not telling dp. hoping he will just be happy its done and not worry about the extra cost! it willbe a surprise when he gets back.

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 11:27

hi debs awh lucy sounds super cute like isobel. i didn't want to give up breast feeding and i was a bit sad about it but i have to give up eventually cos i'm definately not feeding 3! argh at the thought!!!!!!
will be breast feeding the new baby but i'm definately going to express so i can have a slight life this time. will need advice on that in a bit from those that have done it. i want a vbac as well but there not keen at all at the hospital and thats putting it lightly. not getting support about it from dp and my mum either. but its only a 1% chance of rupture. but its not them with a newborn, two 15 month olds and a c section. will need to look into it more before i decide.

SeaChelles · 25/05/2011 12:06

Hi Sassy, welcome back my lovely! Hope my link worked for you and it wasnt too difficult to find us!

Olly is 8 months tomorrow and has been crawling since 7 months and started cruising the same week. I can see walking happening in the next month....god help us all! He crawls like Damon Hill, let alone when he can walk!

He has 2 teeth at the bottom front and another approaching at the top front. His hair is growing very slowly (i think we prob have an inch and a half now!) but is coming through beautifully blonde! I hope it stays that way!

He eats really well and we have yet to find anything he wont eat - he normally just has whatever we have now as well as his bottles. He was 20lb 7oz at 6.5 months but haven't bothered having him weighed since as he is completely proportioned.

He claps his hands when he gets told off, which gets him out of anything.....and loves me getting on the floor and chasing him which makes him squeal!

Glad I and J are doing well and that you are feeling good with the new addition! Lovely to have you back!

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 12:14

hi seachelles awh its lovely to be back thanks. jacob is blonde too. never thought i'd have a blonde child, but apparently dp went blonde after being born dark and now hes dark again. jacob has a good head of hair, you can sweep it to the side and we call him justin bieber! he's a handsome bugger- jacob i mean. isobel has a bit more hair but stll not much. she has the longest eyelashes i've ever seen though to make up for it. ha.

SeaChelles · 25/05/2011 12:21

Aw Sassy you will have to pop a couple of pics of facebook for us so we can see how much they have grown! (When you get a min which is likely to be in the year 2029!! hehe! Grin)

saoirse86 · 25/05/2011 12:37

It does sound like an elcs as well as 4 children would be hard work. Is it more risk after a twin cs rather than a single cs? I hope you get what you want either way.

I'm sure your DP will be happy to come home and find he has nothing to do on the house and can relax with you all, then you can enjoy the summer before craziness starts all over again! Wink

sassy34264 · 25/05/2011 12:54

its not cos i had twins, its cos i've been cut twice in the same area (had emergency c section with chloe) so it makes the area vulnerable and weak.
my most over used phrase is tough- if dp not happy- tough! cos i'm more selfish than i was and its gonna make my life easier and i'm all for that! Wink
