newmum Orlaith's been sleeping really badly too. She'd started only waking once or maybe twice so I was really pleased but now she's waking 5 times. And she's been awake for anywhere between 15mins and an hour and a half each time just crying. Sad

I kind of weighed Orlaith today on my dad's scales and she is about 20 1/2 pounds.

Off on "holiday" tomorrow. We've gone from being told we're in a bunk bed room with no room for a travel cot, to being told we're sleeping in the living room. So we won't be going to sleep until after everyone else is asleep, we'll be awake every time anyone's up in the night, and we'll be up when the first person is up in the morning. Grrrr! Angry

MammyG · 12/05/2011 21:19

Hiya
I was debating the whole car seat thing as the boys were both forward facing at this stage but was told Phoebes head has to be at the top of her RF seat before that happens and not to worry about their legs as babies limbs are far more flexible etc and they are comfortable. Its not a big deal for us as the moment but she seems fine plus loves being able to look at her brother when travelling! ITs all a bit of a pallava tho. In the states they stay RF until about 4 but then their car seats dont rate as highly in safety checks as ours do! Reckon its far more important that we drively carefully. I used to lie across the back window of the car when I was small! Times have changed!!

newmum there is a little wrist band that you can buy that stimulates a little pressure point in the wrist that helps with nausea.

Had bloods done - I have very low iron and folic acid levels and need to go for vit b shots for the next 5 weeks! Explains a lot have been feeling very down and was worried I was suffering depression so hopefully this will help!

Dixiebell · 12/05/2011 22:38

Yay for Olly on the crawling! I have trained Arlo to roll by pushing him over onto his front and rolling him back. Did it for 10 mins yesterday and now he can do it himself! Only front to back though. He still hates being on his front so he has a motive for wanting to move. Otherwise, he's not bothered about trying to get anywhere, just lies or sits still, and if he can't reach something he either ignores it or just cries Hmm.

bananacurry · 13/05/2011 10:02

Ds1 went to bed without his "nang nang" (dummy)!!! Well, he'd gone to bed with it, got up an went to the toilet, left it in the bathroom, went back to bed, didn't ask for it or even notice he didn't have it! 11 hours later up he gets! I can't believe it! He's never done that. I don't know whether to jump on the chance of getting rid or wait till after our holiday. All these decisions. When does it ever end?!

saoirse86 · 13/05/2011 10:41

Well done Olly and Arlo and Toby! Smile

Orlaith's learnt this week how to get from lying down to sitting. That's it, all she's got to do now is walk and I'll never be able to relax again! Hmm

SeaChelles · 13/05/2011 12:14

Somebody gave Olly super human speedy pills.....whoever it was is dead! I can't keep up! One second he's on his mat in the living room - the next he's behind me in the kitchen, then you turn round again and he's climbing up the bogging sofa!

He's also decided today that he is absolutely petrified of the hoover.... Confused and its taken me and hour just to hoover the living room and kitchen (badly!) let alone the rest of the house!

We're out tonight and I've got a billion and one things to do before my mum comes round to pass judgement on the state of the house babysit!

The brownies I just made have failed miserably as my scales were broken and I didn't realise til the end and they had measured everything out wrong and I've got the washing in and out 3 times coz of the damn rain! Its not going well so far!

bananacurry · 13/05/2011 12:43

Chelle I've got a cracking video of Toby at the same age crying at the hoover. Its like every time you switch it on you switch on a cry button and as soon as you switch it off the cry button goes off too!

Formula feeders. By the time Toby was this age he was only having 2 bottles a day because he wasn't interested in milk. Olly still has 4 at 5.30am, 10am, 2pm and 6pm (ish). He doesn't ask for them but when offered will have anywhere from 3-6oz. When do i stop offering the daytime ones & replacing them with snacks??

Debs75 · 13/05/2011 13:42

DS used to be scared of the hoover. He would cry when it was on then when I switched it off he would give it as cuddle.
Took Lucy out in her sleepy wrap today, she loved it and was giggling at me. When I took her out tho she had slipped and was hanging in by her arms. I think a bit more practice is needed

cinnamongreyhound · 13/05/2011 13:53

Can you not order some long legged trousers beaditAli? I was going to say wear trousers if your legs are that bad but I guess that's not a good suggestion unless you go for 3/4 lengths!

Glad you have an answer MammyG! My stepdad has B12 deficiency and has injections every 8 weeks (I think), he feels great for the week afterwards and then it slowly wears off.

Luke rolls now Dixiebell but only when he wants something he can't reach! He will throw himself backwards from sitting and roll over and over until he gets where he wants to go.

I would say seize the opportunity banancurry but I am a dummy hater Blush so any chance to get rid of one sounds good to me! I bf both boys but ds1 was having 3 feeds a day at 6.30, 4 and 7.30 until he was 9 months. Dropped the 4pm one first then 6.30am one at a year and last one at 15months when I swapped it for cows milk but he didn't drink a lot of it. He just stopped asking really. Luke has 3-6 feeds a day depending on if he's up in the night and when he sleeps in the day. He's enjoying his food now but will still happily have milk instead and never ever turns it down if offered! Generally in the day he'll have one at 7, one at 4 and one at 7. If he's up in the night that's another, if he gets woken up from a nap I feed him to calm him down and on the odd day he will cry for milk after lunch. He is asleep at 10am so wouldn't have that one but otherwise similar to Olly. Maybe have a look at one of the formula websites/container and see what they recommend for an 8 month old?

I often have days like that SeaChelles, the more you have to do the longer everything takes and more likely it is to go wrong!

Went for ds1's NHS salt assessment yesterday and she thinks it's a problem with co-ordination. HE can't control his tongue as he should and she also asked whether he tripped over a lot which he does. It may also be related to dh's dyslexia :(. We are now on the waiting list for group sessions with no idea how long that will be. I got so upset yesterday that I have let him down and dh said we will find the money to carry on with the private therapy (not sure where from but its very sweet of him).

Right better go I am sitting on the floor with Luke and his is trying to eat my arm, guessing he wants milk. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and that the patchy showers are more patchy than showers.

Oh, can't remember who started the discussion on weight but I took Luke yesterday and he's 20lb 5oz/9.22Kg so 75th centile for weight but 91st for length and head circumferance which were 73cm and 46cm.

34w+4/8 months today

bananacurry · 13/05/2011 19:18

OMG he's gone to bed without his nang nang. its done. Thats it. No cot, no bottles, no nappies, no nang nang! My baby boys growing up! Got thats made me cry!

bananacurry · 14/05/2011 16:50

Where is everyone??? We're slowly heading towards 24 hours without a post (except for this one & mine was the last one so it doesn't count!)

Dixiebell · 14/05/2011 17:33

I'm here! :)

patito · 14/05/2011 18:39

Arrh just lost a post. How annoying.

Anyways was saying, Beadit yes she just swallows it whole, but would prefer for her to at least attempt to gum it first. Will try the sieving this week.

Who´s little one likes cheese on toast??? Have you tried cauliflower cheese, Maia loves it. Just a thought as can be made v. soft and will have cheesey flavour.

Maia has a mouth ucler, she´s been really cranky the last few days. Dont know if it´s related to teething or not. She´s aslo got a cough thats making her sick Sad

newmum001 · 14/05/2011 19:01

Aww poor maia hope she's feeling better soon! Got my first full nights sleep in ages last night, DP got up with Grace who woke up loads and at one point was up for 2 hours!! It's getting worse! I am like a bloody zombie most of the time, i can only assume it's seperation anxiety which apparently is pretty common at this age but i really wish she would sleep through again, She's more irritable during the day and it must be cause her sleep is so interupted! She's also getting really clingy with my mum, cries whenever she leaves the room which my mum thinks is great as it means Grace loves her loads Grin wonder if i could get away with sending Grace to her house for the night so i can have about 15 hours sleep lol

Yay for Toby losing his dummy, as much as i've wished Grace would have one at times i suppose in the long run it's saving us the heartache of taking it off her!

bananacurry · 14/05/2011 20:02

yey dixie thought you'd all left me!

newmum its heartbreaking! He was ok last night at bedtime but woke crying at 12ish then was up at 6am cos he "couldn't seep out my nang nang!" Dh put him to bed tonight & I could hear him crying & asking for it. It's so tempting to give in but now we've started I'm not going back [strong mummy emoticon]
I tried for 9 weeks to get Olly to have a dummy & at 1st didn't know what to do with a baby who didn't have one. So much easier now tho. no waking for it & none of this to come!
Glad you got a good nights sleep! Grin

Debs75 · 14/05/2011 20:15

Lucy is 9 months old today. YAY!
We seem to be getting better at bedtime as well. Double Yay! For the last gew nights I have been able to put her down asleep on the sofa whilst
I get ready for bed. I daren't leave her in bed just yet but it is a start

mellymooks · 14/05/2011 22:25

I'm here too! I do alot of loitering these days and not much posting, I always feel bad as I read everything but then can't remember who said what to comment on it!!
We went on our first camping trip with two LO's last weekend it was so fab, didn't want to come home. Flynn is majorly on the move we cannot keep up with him, we've been having to have big re-jig of the rooms to give Kaesha some space to play with her stuff, so she has gone into the big bedroom, ah an end of an era my little girl getting all grown up.

comixminx · 15/05/2011 12:10

We're here too. Think A has chickenpox! She seems absolutely fine in herself with no temp or obvious itching (though she was a bit wakeful & fretful the other night and we gave her a bit of Calpol). However, she has two spots on her forehead, two or three on each forearm, and three on the back of her head - not many in the grand scheme of things but a few. Amazingly I didn't even think of them as being something that needed diagnosing at all - I just thought she was a bit spotty at the moment, until yesterday a friend with nephews and nieces said she thought it was chickenpox! Now I wonder how I could have missed it. Off to the doc's tomorrow.

In some ways am glad to have it over with in what looks like a really mild form, but am now feeling guilty about the folks we have exposed to it during its contagious period...

bananacurry · 15/05/2011 12:51

Comixminx Ds1 had chickenpox at 10 months. Its great when they get it early cos they can't scratch so don't they don't scar as badly. I didn't bother getting him diagnosed as there's nothing they can do to treat it! As for feeling guilty, don't. You didn't know & someone gave it to aphra. its only fair to share!!! Just watch out tho cos I know quite a few children that got it quite mild when little then got it again when they were a bit older!!

comixminx · 15/05/2011 15:47

Well, she's got it so mildly that I don't feel worried for her - it's just that I went round to see a friend of mine who's got a 5 week old baby (when I saw them) during the time that A will have been infectious. Hope she will be ok. I have warned them at any rate.

Will look out for her getting it again when older - at least I know what it looks like now, as opposed to not remembering what it looks like from when I was about 8!

bananacurry · 15/05/2011 19:08

At least you've warned them. You can't do anymore than that!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/05/2011 21:23

I'm here too bananacurry but I was the last person to post before you and I seem to post more than everyone! Yay for Toby and boo that things aren't carrying on as well but hope it's sorted quickly. One of my minded children gave hers to the dummy fairys a couple of months ago at 3 and she cried for a whole day. She then told me her dummy had gone and started to cry, I said that she was a big girl now like another one of my minded children and she stopped and hasn't mentioned it again but much older to be able to reason with.

I hope Aphra doesn't get too poorly comixminx, there are loads of children with chicken pox here at the moment. I wouldn't feel guilty at all, you didn't do it deliberately and plenty of people don't keep their kids in when they have it. Not much point in going to dr imo and more chances to spread it to others who are vulnerable. I took ds1 after he appeared to have it for the second time in 2 weeks (first time diagnosed over the phone by a nurse as gp wouldn't see him), when I went they said it was a viral rash, looks similar but never blisters. He now gets it every time he has a cold :(.

Where are you mapletrees? How's Louis getting on at nursery? Hope you're ok.

Funny how some are sleeping better and others are sleeping worse. Hope they all fall into the first category soon!

I have a horrible cold and feel crap, hoping the boys don't get it :(

comixminx · 15/05/2011 21:43

cinnamon, maybe I should ring the GP in the morning to see if they'll even see me then? It's actually my own appointment I made for a subcutaneous cyst on my scalp, but seeing the doc seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. Especially as two of my friends have specifically asked to know what the doc diagnoses because they are worried! I'm pretty sure it is chickenpox but if there are things that are similar then I'd like to know, really.

beaditAli · 16/05/2011 07:49

Will catch up on thread later today...... just wondering if anyone has the Britax Duo Plus carseat? We're thinking of it for when Jack needs the next stage. Also saw the Maxicosi Tobi but have read reviews about the strap mechanism malfunctioning. Any experiences of either??

OP posts:
bananacurry · 16/05/2011 09:09

Cinnamon I think we two probably post the most! Nothing better to do!

Comix I'm with Cinnamon No point going to the Dr. As for your friends that are worried, its too late now, getting a diagnosis won't make any difference, the only other rash related type thing is a viral rash! I love it when they diagnose things like chicken pocs over the phone! Seriously, how can they do that?? I know us nurses are amazing Grin but i've never yet met one with super human powers!

The dummy withdrawal is fine now. We still have a little winge at bedtime but the night before last he got up at 1am for the loo & went back to bed without asking for it. I think it was probably because he didn't have any warning. I jumped at the chance when it was there. Perhaps if I'd given him a week to get used to it it would've been better!!
