Orlaith doesn't have much of a set routine because it all seems governed by how much she's woken in the night and what we've done in the day. Generally it's like this:
Go to bed between 9.45 and 10.15pm
wake up 1-5 times
Wake up properly anywhere between 7.30 and 8.45
Nap starts between 10.30 and 1 and lasts between 30mins to an hour and a half
Nap starts between 3 and 5 and lasts 30 mins to an hour and a half

That all sounds confusing but she usually has about 12-13 hours' sleep in total through the day. It was only about 11 hours in total until a couple of weeks ago so that's good! Grin

I can't put her down in her cot awake at all anymore because she'll be standing up in seconds. Although she has gone back to sleep after standing a couple of times recently but only first thing in the morning.

sassy that family broke my heart! They must have been so strong to be supporting the other woman as she was losing her baby. I felt really sorry for her having to go up to liverpool when there's such a fantastic neonatal unit in birmingham where she was from. Sad

I'm with sassy34264 mapletrees, Luke will not eat raw apple ever he has just found 1/2 an apple one of the other children has left and he's munching his way through it happily Hmm Angry Grin

Dixiebell · 29/06/2011 14:04

Arlo naps in total about 2-2.5 hours a day. Usually up by 6am (although it was 5 this morning, argh!), nap at 8ish for an hour, another nap after lunch, 12.30ish, for an hour or maybe 1.5hrs. Then depending on how long lunch nap was, he might have another 30mins about 4pm, especially if we're in the car. I'm always surprised when he manages the whole afternoon from 2-6.30 without a nap, but he can do it these days.

sassy34264 · 29/06/2011 14:20

was very sad saoirse he is a nice guy.
well ive had a teary day. just feeling sorry myself, fed up and lack of sleep. builder came today and once again cancelled on me. (3rd time) his dad died- his van broke down and now he has admitted that cos of first two reasons he is very behind and thought he could juggle it but he cant. i know its not his fault and it cant be helped but im just fed up of living out of boxes and having every room unfinished with tools and paint and doors and insulation and wood and bags of plaster and cement and tiles - you get the picture- all around me. had 2 deliveries today thinking he would be here and had to take them in myself. i just feel like im always solo. everything is left to me. god i hope he gets this redunancy. i swear im gonna look for a sugar daddy if he doesnt!

bananacurry · 29/06/2011 19:28

Newmum Ollys sleep routine is

awake at 5am
nap 9-10am
nap 1-2.30pm
bed 6.30pm

He's always been good at self settling so I don't have a problem with him sitting/pulling up. I do have a problem with the 5am wake up tho! I just want it to stop! I'd even accept 6am! Especially as I'm going back to work soon & wiill be completely knackered!

Sassy sorry you've had a bad day. I struggle enough with a dh who does a lot, a complete house, an almost 3 year old & one 10 month old! How the hell you manage with you're lot I don't know! You're a stronger woman than me!

beaditAli · 29/06/2011 20:25

Lots to comment on but don't have the energy to reply individually Sad
Tho...... about an hour a day of TV here and no shoes yet.
Mum and Dad are havin Jack 2 days so I can try and get back on with 'Rosie Soul' jewellerying......... proving pretty tough as as soon as Jack goes to bed i'm beading away. Still, I'm very grateful that we can get by without me having to go full time.
Jack's routine: although the last day he's been a machine and I don't know how he carries on Shock

He is defo cutting down on nap times. Today he was up at 6.45am and has only napped for 40 mins since then and going to bed at 7.30pm Shock

banana, if you solve the 5am starts let me know how! Arlo woke us at 4.25 this morning in fact, he was on his tummy and had somehow forgotten how to roll back Hmm, so was distraught. Rolled him back over and then he subjected us to blights of crying every 10mins, yes just long enough in between to make you drift off before being rudely awoken again. Finally have given up and feeding. Will try and put him back down after but I know he'll just scream. I miss my 6am starts! :(

Dixiebell · 30/06/2011 05:23

Bouts. Although blights seems strangely appropriate.

bananacurry · 30/06/2011 09:23

Dixie I know what you mean! Although something strange happened this morning. He woke at 5. had 6oz around half past. I put his toys in his cot & went back to bed. at 6am he cried. proper crying then all went quiet. after 10 mins a peeped round the door and he was fast asleep again!!!!!!!!!! Till 7.30!!!!! I GOT A LIE IN!!!!! Well apart from getting up to Toby at 6.50. I was a bad mummy & put the portable dvd player in his room & went back to bed!

newmum001 · 30/06/2011 10:02

There must be some strange force at hand cause grace got up at 7 and I know luke let cinnamon have a lie in as well cause she commented on my facebook status! However later than usual starts leave me feeling stressed as I don't know how her naps will work during the day and I've usually washed up etc by 7.30 yet the pots are still in the sink. I really do need to learn to relax a bit I think. She's asleep again now though she protested and instead of doing the washing up I was so worried about not doing I'm watching a documentary on lizzards that killed their owner and drinking coffee! Oh how I love nap times! Think mil is coming up to see us today so might take her for lunch somewhere. She's doing ok but has really started to miss sfil now she's had a bit of time to get used to it which is really sad! hope everyone has a lovely day, the weatherman told me it was going to be nice but it's looking like he lied!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/06/2011 21:12

That's rubbish sassy34264, I can totally understand why you feel the way you do you are very strong but I'm sure it doesn't always feel that way! At least you have your mum and dh will be home before you know it. Same goes for beaditAli, it doesn't sound like it feels this way but you are earning money doing something you love which loads of people aren't able to do and Jack will have a great time with his grandparents. Make sure you find some time for yourselves (days the lady who never does!)

It's great that you have a good relationship with your mil and you have the time to spend with her to help her loneliness. I cannot imagine being without dh and as he's 15 years older than me I guess at some point I will have to deal with it. Some people find a new different life once they're on their own, let's hope she does.

I am going out saturday, was invited my friend not by the organiser and I have ended up the organiser and driver :(. Luke is now cruising between pieces of furniture and letting go for a while then giggling and holding on again. He has two spots at the top of his nappy, not sure if it's just irritation from his nappy or the first couple of chicken pox. There was something else I wanted to say but it's gone now, oh well!!

beaditAli · 01/07/2011 10:38

Happy Friday lovelies! Is it July today??? Shock
Jack just nodded off and rather than dash upstairs to work or clean I am sitting on my bum drinking t.............. very long 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'. Doesn't happen enough in this house!
Anyone else ever feel like Worzel Gummidge after catching up on their friend's photos on fbook? Sad feel the need for a major pamper soon. My eyebrows look like join the dots paper!
newmum hope everyone in your family are coping ok. It sounds as though you're all wonderfully supportive of each other so you'll all be a massive help to one another.
It took Jack 2 weeks to get from all fours rocking to full pelt crawling and now he's pulling himself up onto his knees using anything vertical..... any clues as to how long I might have before he's taking steps??? Confused
Definitely having a tv day today to watch Andy Murray get thrashed play Nadal. Sports mad......... heaven help the tv situation in this house when the Olympics are on Shock
Oh..... just done a count of baby record books we haven't used......... we have 7 and one that we're filling in! haahaaahaaaa I am not having 7 more babies!!!

Well I've done all my work for the morning - but don't technically finish til 2pm.....hmmmm. Ah well I'll just stay in til 2 - then go out. Then off til Tues! Woo hoo!

Olly is being weird today - just put him down for a nap as he crawled on to my lap and snuggled in and shut his eyes - normally wouldn't go down til 12 for a couple of hours...but I guess he has been going down at this time with the childminder and am trying to fit in to her routine with him rather than stick to mine. Plus he usually never gives in for sleep unless you coaz him in to it.

He was up for two hours just crying in the night, which is very unlike him, he was very trumpy though - so think it was a bad belly + teeth....Sad he eventually fell asleep on my chest like he used to when he was tiny - which reinforces the bad belly as apparently they like to sleep like a tiger in a tree when bellies are sore.

The difference in Olly's volume and noises is astounding after just one week at the childminder - he is making even more random noises and is 10x louder. Which we didn't think was possible! I guess its being around the other kids thats done it - making himself heard!

SeaChelles · 01/07/2011 19:55

Where is everyone.... Sad

mapletrees · 01/07/2011 20:29

I've been at work Chelle. Back now though, Louis is in bed and I have a bottle of my favourite beer Smile Sorry to hear Olly had a bad night, hope tonight is better for you both.

beadit don't feel too bad about your eyebrows - I have 2 caterpillers on my forehead, I just assume eveyone's too busy staring at the baby snot on my shoulder to notice Grin

Had a bit of a busy week - not least because the mumsnet curse struck again and after I posted last week that Louis wasn't mobile, he started properly crawling all over the place (keeps getting himself stuck under bits of furniture Grin) and pulling himself right up to standing - BOTH on Monday. It made for a fun Hmm bedtime on Monday night as he clambered around his cot, getting himself stuck in funny positions. It was really hard not to show him how cute I thought he was when he was standing holding the bars and shouting for me, but I imagine it'll wear thin pretty quickly. It didn't help that it was so hot, and the little shit poor thing eventually got to sleep at 10pm (having been put to bed at 7). He also said "mama" for the first time on Sunday about bloody time Smile Smile Smile. I think he must have had a growth spurt of the brain as he also seems to have started to understand things better and learning things quicker, he was pointing at the light when I pressed the switch, and at one point on Monday he crawled over, picked up the remote, and very deliberately turned it around the right way before pressing a button and looking expectantly at the screen. Shame the tv was off at the time Grin DP is also sure he called the cat "car" this afternoon (his name is Oscar).. Sorry to be such an annoying proud mummy, but I was starting to worry that he was a bit behind in everything [rolls eyes at herself].

SeaChelles · 01/07/2011 20:33

Maple - sounds like he is coming on beautifully! Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 01/07/2011 20:42

I'm here too, Luke was up just before midnight and I had to feed him and then sit with him for 30mins after that to get him off not sure what the problem was. Friday afternoon is the only time it's just me and him, I drop ds1 and one minded child at school and the other one goes to sleep but today he was an awkward little shit grumpy and didn't want to do anything :( but he did eat all of his dinner and sat up by himself for the first time Grin

Go Louis!! Luke is still not saying anything that sounds like anything but babbles all the time and is still the smiliest baby I have ever known!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/07/2011 20:45

And beaditAli I have a fringe so no one can see my eyebrows and I have never done anything to them, my legs on the otherhand often look like they belong to Bigfoot!! Speaking of pampering I really want to have a go at the fishy foot nibbling thing but can't get anyone to go with me :(

newmum001 · 01/07/2011 21:21

I want to do the fish thing too, shame we doin't live near eachother I'd go with you! Another worzal gummage over here! I have lived in joggers and hoodies this week and my hair is a complete mess as I'm trying to cover the red dye in my hair with a darker colour that takes beautifully when I've first dyed it but washed out after about 3 washes leaving me with funny colour hair! I could do with losing about 12 stone as well but it's proving to be a challenge (she says whilst sipping a mcdonalds strawberry milkshake) also I need lots of new clothes but haven't had time to go shopping! Rant over!

mapletrees · 01/07/2011 21:40

Humm, not sure if I want to do the fishy foot thing myself, but if you come to Cambridge to get it done cinnamon, I'll come along and laugh at you play with Luke Grin. Well done Luke for sitting up by himself. Louis can go from lying down to standing, but he rolls onto his tummy, then kneels, then pulls himself up..

sassy34264 · 01/07/2011 22:01

i refuse to believe that there can be anyone out there as bad as me! im living in a mixture of last years maternity clothes and anything baggy my mum keeps giving me as she is clearing out her wardrobes. i did shave my legs and underarms this morning though for the 1st time in months as i was going to wear my new maxi dress but i couldnt find my strapless bra so ended up in pants and a top with sleeves (trousers to some of you) i bought a home dye last week as my grey was sooooo bad, decided on a red but it is too dark for me, esp as i dont wear make up and pregnancy is not my best look. no wonder i have beautiful babies cos they suck any goodness out of me. a spot can appear throughout the day. im quite lucky in that my skin is really good usually, hardly ever had spots, not that many wrinkes yet and people say i look younger than my age. but when pregnant i have grey skin, red spots and black bags. i even get a pregnancy mask. its not worth making the effort if it doesnt make an improvrment! Grin
jacob has been able to play peek aboo for a couple of weeks now. he lifts a blanket/towel/coat up over his face and then pulls it down and waits for you to say boo and then giggles his head off. but isobel must of been watching cos she did it today! both of them can say dada, baba, nana but ive not took this has words as such as it just seems like babble but isobel now says mam mam and i definately think she understands it me. Wink

SeaChelles · 01/07/2011 22:07

Don't like this site sometimes! Started a few threads in chat tonight as I'm bored to death! One was to air my complete shock of a benefit cheat being caught - she was claiming for chronic back pain and was caught skydiving! And now I'm being told that I'm picking on disabled people...some people are just lovely aren't they.....I hate it when people use something as an excuse to pick on other innocent people....grrr.. rant over.

I am hairy too! I have developed an I dont care what I look like attitude which must stop!! Bleurgh....!

mapletrees · 01/07/2011 22:32

Wow chelle, I just went and found that thread you started. I can't believe how rude and judgemental a couple of those posters were Shock. It almost seemed like they were deliberately misunderstanding what you were saying. Good for you for sticking up for yourself though Smile
