We bought ds1 a camera, mobile phone, shape sorter and hungry caterpillar book but we still have them and lots of other toys so I have no idea but have ages to think about it. My baby starts school on 7th September :( he also has a move up day on 15th July, very sad mummy :( :( :(

bananacurry · 22/06/2011 21:54

8 weeks till ds1 is 3 & 10 till olly is 1 Shock But cinnamon you win! that'll be me this time next year & I'm already very Sad just thinking about it! It also means that I only have 10 weeks left at home!!!

Size 4 nappies here. Have been for quite a while. He was is 3s & ds1 was in 4+ but I got fed up of putting the wrong one on the wrong child so compromised with a size 4!!! Ollys fast catching ds1 up size wise there's only about 6lb between them!

comixminx · 22/06/2011 22:40

Size 3 nappies for Aphra still - we've got a packet of size 4s just waiting for when the current lot of the smaller ones run out, but if they don't fit when we try them then we'll get some more of the 3s.

10 weeks till A is 1 also! Haven't yet thought about parties or presents or anything. She is crawling really fast - has increased her turn of speed noticeably over the past couple of days - and standing up really well. She doesn't take many steps yet but that'll come. I've also noticed her starting to imitate us properly for the first time this week - she's made a "ptthbt" sound with her lips and we've done it too, at which point she's done it again, clearly copying us again and again. She doesn't yet do it with things like banging on the table in a certain rhythm or anything.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2011 08:21

Luke's doing that too comixminx it's so cute!!!

Quick question for bananacurry if you're around. Ds1 has a little blistery spot on his back, dh says it can't be chicken pox as it's only one but surely it has to start somewhere? Do you know how quickly he'll get more if it is? Don't want to spread it but can't really afford to lose money for nothing! Absolutely fine otherwise.

saoirse86 · 23/06/2011 10:39

Yesterday I noticed 3 spots on Orlaith's leg and started to worry she had chicken pox, but then I looked closer and they turned out to be little cuts! Blush

Orlaith's in size 4's too. My niece is still in 3's and occasionally I've ended up putting Orlaith in a size 3 and didn't find them that small surprisingly. But when Imara went in a size 4 the other day she looked so cute because it was so huge on her. It made her look like a tiny baby again. They were 1oz different at birth and we used to get loads of comments about them looking like twins but they're at least 3lb different now. Yesterday a woman was standing behind us in a queue with her little girl and the girl was trying to play with Orlaith. Then the mum noticed Imara looking and said "look at that tiny baby looking at you". Confused We keep noticing people looking really shocked seeing Imara crawling and cruising because they seem to assume she's about 5 months. Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2011 14:04

Well.... no more spots have come up so I guess it's safe to assume he doesn't have chicken pox!

bananacurry · 23/06/2011 18:42

Sorry for the late reply cinnamon Ds1 had 1 spot on the friday, 6 by the saturday, 46 by the sunday & impossible to count by the monday. If he hasn't got anymore by tomorrow then I'd assume it isn't.

beaditAli · 23/06/2011 20:11

Thanks for all the posts re: MMR. I wasn't meaning to do it / to not do it but am considering the single vaccines over the triple. Need more advice I guess from HV/GPs Hmm

Today is a day of firsts! Jack has started nursery-aka-Gran and Grandpas!! Two days a week so I can try and keep my business going. He has so much space in their house to play around in so decided that today of all days he'd start full fledged, full pelt forward crawling after weeks of backwards! He can also sit himself up from lying down and kneel on his own!! Shock Nothing compared to some of our geniuses like Arlo and the famous artist Luke but good progress for Jack the Beanstalk!
Would it be wrong to send him to the chinese takeaway for me??? Blush

Jack's naming day went really well and it was such a gorgeous, emotional day. We had so many comments from guests about how personal and touching it was so needless to say I was booing for a lot of the afternoon.
We passed one of these around as a keepsake for him of all the guests finger prints.

Not sure if anyone is interested but incase: helmet working well. Gone from being 20mm out at back to 14mm so has 6mm of growth.
Still no appointment after his egg reaction Shock

Hope everyone's well! xxxx

If your hcp are like the ones here they won't give you advice but push the MMR beaditAli! Luke still can't sit up himself, was a bit worried about it as he can easily pull himself to standing but can't remember when ds1 could sit up Blush. Sounds lovely and I love the thumbprint tree Grin. Amazed at the allergy appointment, are you sure it hasn't got lost somewhere it seems very slow even for nhs. Lucky for you he doesn't seem to have any other allergies!!

My boys have been so smiley and happy today it's lovely. Luke is really snotty but absolutely fine with it and he slept 7.30-7 much better than 5.20!!

beaditAli · 23/06/2011 20:56

I know cinnamon we did get an appointment but it was later canceled and no replacement has been issued. I keep calling! And his neurosurgeon appointment for the NHS to do an initial consult on his head has come through for AUGUST! AUGUST! after being canceled twice! By the time the right person from the NHS sees him it'll be 6 months since we first wanted him to be seen Shock
It's in the air cinnamon Jack slept 7-7! Grin happy days! Barely ate any t though so am predicting a 3am bottle Sad

Am I the only one with a non mobile baby? She can get on all fours but immediately comes crashing to the floor and screams in frustration! I did find her sitting up in her cot on tuesday after a nap though and even though she's not pulling herself up to standing yet she's having a damn good go at it! She is very very chatty though and can now say mama, dada, hiya, bye and baby and she says ma for grandma which my mum thinks is the most amazing thing every! Also when someone is coming round if I say to her who's here to see you she looks at the front door and does the giddy shakes. She can high five and brush her hair (usually with the wrong side of the brush but she's got the idea) but no sign of clapping yet and she's just started giving open mouth kisses which is beautiful!
I'm feeling so emotional recently (and no I'm not pregnant) but yesterday I was crying my eyes out thinking about her first birthday and how she's growing to fast but at the same time I'm loving watching her grow and change! I just never thought I could love someone this much!
Beatit that's great news about jacks head you must be over the moon!

Hi all. Just checking in and catching up. Work is busy and I've been finding it difficult to find a balance. I'm just missing Harlyn so much and feel guilty everytime I leave him. He's had a developmental spurt over the last couple of weeks and is now into everything. He's almost fully crawling (I give it a couple if days), he sits up from lying down, shakes his head and points towards objects. It's just super cute! He wasn't doing any of this a few weeks ago but everyday there seems to be something new every day. He keeps waving at the dog and just chats constantly. He's also going through a clingy stage where he wants you to walk him around all the time.

I've just booked his baptism for Sep 4th so really looking forward to that. Think I'll get one of those trees beadit. It's a lovely keepsake.

Anyway ladies, hope u are all well! I just can't get over how quickly the time has flown! Can I press pause for a bit?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2011 21:06

I'm babysitting so dh was feeding boys so fingers crossed Luke has eaten well. Watching obem USA on more 4.

Luke can high 5 and clap newmum001, I'm convinced he said Ta to me when I gave him something. I always say it when I give him something or take it and he copied me twice but hasn't again. I don't have great history with speech so we'll see :(

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2011 21:10

Sorry x posts JodeyBogeyPicker it's so hard but only a few weeks left! Luke was mega clingy for 6 weeks or so but seems to be over t now. Obem USA sucks!!!!

newmum001 · 23/06/2011 21:23

I'm watching it too cinnamon, it's shit isn't it! Why the hell are all those people in that woman's room! She's having a cesarean there's no point them being there at all.

My neighbours across the road just brought home their new born baby girl, I was hovering near the window trying to get a look but they kept seeing me and I looked like a bloody stalker so I sat down. I can't wait to see her.

awwwwww jodey he'll always love his mummy the most just remember that! Grin
I did my own version of the tree thing. Drew it on a canvas and made exactly the right number of branches for the guests. We used 3 different metallic craft ink pads which worked really well and of course we had loads of packs of wet wipes at hand to pass around for folk to clean their mitts afterward!

newmum it's no bad thing that Grace isn't crawling! Jack had a piece of paper practically glued to the roof of his mouth today cos he's such a sneak! She sounds further on with associating words with the right person/thing than Jack does but it's hard to say things like this without sounding like we're comparing......... they're all just so gorgeously different aren't they! Open gob lip smacking!!!!! I want one of those! Grin

OP posts:
newmum001 · 23/06/2011 21:33

I know, it's very hard not to compare them I think as they're all exactly the same age! That doesn't mean I'm wanting her to hurry and do stuff it's just interesting to see how different they all are! It just goes to show that all the books etc that tell you what they'll do and at what age are a load of crap. They'll do it in their own good time!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2011 21:52

Babies are being born now newmum001 so I'm welling up! Really hope I can persuade dh to have just one more! I say kiss to Luke and he opens his mouth and flinches until I kiss him, sooooooo cute. I agree with beaditAli be glad Grace isn't moving yet, it's been such a shock as ds1 was so late to move and Luke is into everything, keeps eating the dogs biscuits, YUK!!! I think it was Michael McIntyre who did a joke about people worrying when their babies walk and talk.

newmum001 · 23/06/2011 22:04

I always cry when the babies are born! Which is weird cause I didn't cry when grace was born I just remember being scared out of my mind :) grace keeps picking bits of crumbs up out of the rug and eating them, I found her eating a bit of poppadom before. We had curry last night and she'd stashed some in her high chair.

comixminx · 23/06/2011 22:07

newmum, I heard somewhere that babies often concentrate on one new thing at a time, as it were, so if they are early talkers they won't be early walkers, that sort of thing. Aphra is doing ever so well with standing, crawling, and cruising, but isn't making any great moves towards talking - repeating the "ptthhbt" sounds is the first thing she's done that's any sort of repetition of sounds, and that's done more as a game than as anything else I'm sure.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 23/06/2011 22:21

lol newmum harlyn is the same! He is obsessed with picking up any tiny little thing off the carpet which saves me hoovering! Wink

beadit you're so creative! Wish I was good at arts and crafts.

It is really hard not to compare what our babs are doing. I stopped coming on here for a while because it was making me panic that Harlyn ate too much, weighed too much, didn't roll, didn't crawl etc. I became a bit obsessed with worrying which is stupid because he's just doing things in his own time. And typically, as soon as I stop worrying, he starts doing all sorts.

Oh and cinnamon Harlyn does the kiss thing too! It's just lovely. He smacks his lips too during feeding time. He's also started doing that thing when babies throw themselves backwards in frustration/anger. Especially if I take his toothbrush off him, he goes mental.

Dixiebell · 23/06/2011 22:35

newmum, my Arlo doesn't crawl at all. He walks holding onto my fingers, but doesn't cruise yet. It'd be easier on my back if he could get round himself, as it's all he wants to do! He's very determined about seeking out the right grip on my fingers, and also about which direction he wants to go in (usually towards the kitchen!).

I'm hoping to get a relative lie-in tomorrow - his waking rime has got progressively earlier all week, it was 4.45 this morning and no getting him back to sleep. Well, not until I'd resigned myself to being up and got dressed etc Hmm. Last week I thought 6am was a bit early, but that'd be bliss in comparison! We have our first tooth, so maybe that's the cause??
