Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

happy birthday Emma!!
Luckily my policy of "no one has a party till they're 4" means I have only to do cake & presents next month - handily coinciding with the builders moving indoors and ripping out the kitchen, so not quite as easy as it sounds Hmm
pistachio - the first year with 3, for me, was crap. I cried, shouted, and was dismal at everything. And that's just the bits I remember.
Any day where most people have eaten, some of them have been dressed at some point and everyone is still alive, is a success.
Have to go and do triple bathtime followed by a large glass of wine methinks!

HavePatience · 16/09/2011 19:57

Happy Birthday, Emma! How exciting! I hope you ended up having a great day despite strops, KSal :)

Pistachio I hope you're feeling ok. It must be so difficult. but worth it :)

PurplePrickles are you exercising as well? I always find that dieting alone does very little. Well sometimes a lot at first but exercise helps most. When I exercise well and regularly I can eat whatever I want and still lose weight if needed.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/09/2011 22:10

Happy birthday Emma.

It is hard pistachio. I too spent a lot of time shouting in the first year with 3, again often due to tiredness. I find I have to shout less when there is dh, I and my mother's help here to share the load Grin.
Hurrah for your mum though!

How are you getting on with your 3 now Ekka?

Ekka · 17/09/2011 07:19

Well as you can see I don't get much time to post on here, though plenty of reading time in the early hours! I am enjoying it but am also shouty and lacking in patience, especially with dd who is a complete daydreamer. Then I feel really guilty because this is the second time we've turned her world upside down by adding another dc plus she is now at school and said sadly last weekend 'I don't get much time with you or Daddy any more' Sad

She has settled well in Reception after her initial disappointment over there not being as many toys as in Nursery and she came home today telling me all about insects and arachnids - I can see I'm going to get left behind in the knowledge stakes pretty quickly if this is what 1 week of school does!

Ds1 started nursery and loves it. He has really grown up over the summer and is much more independent now, though he still hasn't cracked potty training Confused. He is supposed to be potty trained to attend (it's nursery attached to dd's school) but they are letting him use pull ups for now...

Ds2 is 1 month and now 10lb14oz and growing out of most of the 0-3 month stuff already, makes me laugh as dd was still in newborn stuff at 1 month old! He hates being in the buggy and can scream for hours in the car seat too which makes the multiple school runs rather stressful... However we've not been late yet -phew.

Life for us adults is currently stressful - will maybe post on the fb group later (did anyone work out whether it's definitely private and no details will be posted on my wall?)

Anyway, sorry it's been a very 'me, me, me' post.

I'm glad to hear that all teachers are surviving the new term - eek to shinpads though! Nice to hear the older dc are enjoying school.

I'm envious of your help csws and your mum pistachio - I could definitely do with an extra pair of hands some days

Ekka · 17/09/2011 07:26

Oh, I meant to say, dd has been doing swimming lessons since she turned 3 and can swim a short way without armbands so they've definitely paid off. Our council run pool runs them after school as well as weekends so for those who like to keep weekends free maybe that would be an option? We aren't doing weekly lessons this term as we wanted to see how the kids settled at school, but there are also 'intensive' courses over the half term week (only 30 mins daily for 5 days) which they will both be doing. Though given that ds lesson starts at 8.30am followed by dd at 9 I may regret signing them up for it...

Ekka fb group is definitely private and won't show to others (not in the group) on your wall. Only shows to group members.
Amazing that you haven't been late yet!
I hope you got to uni ok, pistachio.

Purpleprickles · 17/09/2011 21:32

KSal belated happy birthday to Emma!

Pistachio sorry to hear that things are hard at the moment. How long do you have until ds starts Nursery? Hopefully that will free up some of the demands on you for at least a few hours a day. I always admire mum's with more than one child as having one is hard enough!

Ekka it's great to hear that all of the dc's are doing so well. Sorry to hear that the adults aren't. We are always very up and down here if that helps to know..or maybe I should see what your fb says first!

Had a lovely day today, a very lazy start to it. J and I made chocolate cakes this morning, he is really interested in helping to cook and today even washed up the simple things. I'll have him trained so he can look after me in old age Grin Then we went over to Ikea which he loved. He spent all afternoon trying out beds so now I have finally been brave enough and allowed dh to convert his cot bed to a "big boy bed". He was so excited, we got new duvet covers from Ikea and made a big thing of it. I really hope he stays in it the whole night. I know he is probably the last to escape the cot but he has never been a climber and I didn't want him to grow up-- thought it was easier not to change things unnecessarily Grin

Did anyone watch Celebrity Master Chef tonight? We are watching it now and Greg and John (who always wind me up) are being particularly evil tonight.

P.S. HP I don't do exercise Blush

HavePatience · 18/09/2011 09:31

PP what about walking? I have found even a 30 minute brisk walk is helpful.
Bless J in his big boy bed. If we hadn't had space limitations I'll bet Q would have still been in his around now, too. Wink he never climbed out. How was his sleep in the bed?

Purpleprickles · 18/09/2011 16:02

HP you read my mind as I said to dh today I'm going to start going for a brisk walk of an evening Smile The first night in a bed was a big success thanks, he stayed in it all night, well until his usual wake up time of 5.30am (weekends only Hmm) when he likes to come in and snuggle with us. We put the sides of the cot into the loft today so no going back now Grin

HavePatience · 19/09/2011 20:38

Q has some White coming out in his underpants when he wees. He doesn't seem to be in pain or itchy but this isn't good, is it?
Also woke saying "nooooo!" lots of times last night flailing but wouldn't wake. Hmm
First time since moving in he slept in our bed, though.... We are all sleepy today

HavePatience · 19/09/2011 20:40

Sorry I meant in his pants and when he wees.
It's been since friday

Purpleprickles · 19/09/2011 22:16

HP I have no experience of that but the only thing that springs to mind is a urine infection. Can you get a Dr appt just to check?

HavePatience · 19/09/2011 22:20

PP I'll have to get it checked I guess. Also he has a weird set of bumps on side of face near his chin that he is constantly itching. Was nothing before now red bumps Confused

Purpleprickles · 20/09/2011 21:31

HP how is Q? The bumps could be totally unrelated. Could they be bites or eczema?

Hideous day at work, sometimes I feel like I work in a behavioural unit. Today it took two of us to restrain the unruly 4yr old. It's just so exhausting and certainly not teaching. Then J had the biggest tantrum
I have ever seen tonight over bedtime. I was a rubbish mummy and yelled and got Angry Both Dh and I struggled on and J eventually gave in and then I cried Sad Both Dh and I are now in bed reading because quite frankly we have had enough of this day.

It's on days like this that I question my career and life choices. I should have got a bar job in Tenerife and adopted one of the island's many stray cats.

Oh Ekka we had the car seat screaming too. I hated it and would have cut down on journeys out if they had been avoidable. Sadly it lasted a full 6 months in our case, but hopefully you will be luckier.

Happy birthday Naomi.

KSal · 21/09/2011 11:23

Happy birthday Naomi!

Purple... I always feel totally rotten after I have lost my temper with Emma Sad you just have to move on and try to do it better next time (I'm still trying)

Happy Birthday Naomi!
Mine are all behaving at the moment, which is suspicious, though they are exhausted after a night away in each of the last 2 weekends and we are away again this weekend for a wedding in Wales.
Not sure DS1 will be functioning at all next week, but there's not much I can do about it apart from early nights during the week. sigh.
My house is retracting slowly into the lounge. Tonight we have to move the fridge/freezer in, and I think the microwave as they start bricking up extraneous doors tomorrow Hmm. This is where it gets bloody difficult interesting!

HavePatience · 21/09/2011 21:48

Happy Birthday, Naomi! :) I hope you had a great day, myjob! Xxx

Q keeps reminding us that it's his birthday on Sunday :) so exciting but I can't believe he will be 3 Shock and that I will now be 33! Wow.
Work and Q are keeping me so busy but it's all going well. So nice to have a bit of space, too, finally.

HavePatience · 27/09/2011 10:55

Confused not sure why that posted so early. I must have hit something with another finger...
I am so pleased that I started shopping for Q's bday and Xmas in March. I had completely forgotten about some things, so that was a nice surprise!
Still haven't sorted the discharge problem yet, but he doesn't seem bothered.

I hope everyone is doing well and those with new babies are managing sleep!
