Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

J was happy in the close for 8 months no problem pistachio - are you sure you've got it adjusted right? J would have stayed in it much longer, but I had my op then and so couldn't use it for a good few weeks afterwards, and just got out of the habit I guess. I am not good at getting him into a back carry, although tbh haven't tried much. He wasn't mad keen last time dh had him on his back whilst we were out, but that could have been for any number of reasons. I could try with the ergo or rose and rebellion I suppose...

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/06/2011 12:47

forgot to ask what I came on for! Who was it who upgraded our group recently? Can you (or anyone else) tell me how to do it please?

have you tried her in the newborn position instead (like my profile pic on here)?

I definitely can't do ergo on my front by myself. Can't reach to do the clip on the back. Tis a shit carrier for me really, but got it cheaply.

KSal · 15/06/2011 15:33

all this carrier talk has reminded me that i can give Orin a go in the rose and rebellion carrier

Hello all- KSal and CSWS sorry to hear you are getting very little sleep at the moment.

J will stay at his current Nursery for pre-school which is great as he loves it and has friends there, "best friends" apparently. I'm sure 2 is too young to be having best friends but hey. He will actually be moving to the pre-school room in Sept as the Nursery need to move everyone up to allow for new babies to join. So it won't really be pre-school to start I don't think. One thing I am concerned about is that they don't nap in that room whereas at the moment they all nap after lunch. I know he will be older but I'm not convinced he will have dropped the nap or need for his nap by September. Although I suppose he may surprise me. He also is unlikely to be going to school with any of his Nursery friends Sad but then it is such a lottery for school places here that even if was at a pre-school attached to a school it wouldn't guarantee a school place.

Nothing else to report here apart from the fact I'm dieting again and thinking of trying flabelos on the recommendation of my MIL Grin Not that she recommended I need to, just that it was working for her. I'm also in the midst of writing 40 end of year reports and about to start home visits for the new children tomorrow. My brain is equipped to think of this amount of children in one half term.

Ooh and does anyone on here watch Luther? I love it but am still feeling quite scared after last nights episode!

HavePatience · 15/06/2011 20:59

:( Ksal and csws. I wish I could help in some way. Sounds dreadful with no sleep.

Pistachio - are you getting any sleep these days?

PP - I finished report writing last week and felt a huge rush of relief... so just think of that... you have that to look forward to! I know it doesn't help much when you're in the midst of it all, though.

At the nursery Q is going to, they are all allowed to sleep if they want to but they sleep in a different room (not the preschool room - the toddler room, I think). I seriously doubt Q will have given up his nap by then so I'll be telling them to put him in there on his days for a sleep. He's still taking 2.5-3 hour naps when we let him (he can only have 1.5-2 hours at cm because of her school run at 3). Could they do that for your DS? Put him in with the toddlers just for nap after lunch?

Last day of school for children at my school is Friday and a noon dismissal! Hooray! So excited to be home with my little man for a while :) They start again last the week in August.

ronshar · 15/06/2011 21:23

I survived the festival even though I thought I might get washed away by the rain on Sunday.

Pepper. That all sounds like a breakdown waiting to happen!

CSWS is J better now?

Cakes. Our October babies will be four when they start school in the Sept and will turn five in the Oct. So we have got a very very very long time to go yet until they are off to school. Can you tell I have too many children?

Havepatience. Do you think you maybe over thinking it all a bit?Wink Q def sounds like he is with holding. You may have to be very firm with him and when he shows signs off wanting to go then dont let him go away from the toilet until he has been. I have had to do exactly the same thing with W. It takes a few days of 2 hour to-ing and fro-ing from the toilet but will sort it out. W now refuses to let me in the bathroom with him and he no longer has any trouble going.

Hello every one else. I am still in festival mode so my brain is full of vodka and beer.

ronshar · 15/06/2011 21:29

Purple. Yes I was a bit disturbed by Luther last night. Very scary.

HavePatience · 15/06/2011 21:42

Thanks ronshar. Nutritionist who looked at his food and drink intake said he definitely has a lot of iron so that might be making things more difficult. The other thing is that he has a sandwich for lunch a lot. Apparently wheat can make poos difficult for some kids as well. But it doesn't look like Q is getting too much unless he's sensitive to it.

On the fruit front: She said his fruit and smoothie intake was fine. Fruit has "good" sugars in it and Q isn't having nearly enough to be harmful. Especially as he doesn't really have refined sugar in his regular diet elsewhere. Another friend of mine who I work with and has studied nutrition said that berries apparently can be eaten in much higher quantities than other fruit. Good to know! Smile I can stop worrying over this now. I'm a huge worrier about this stuff Blush need to relax Grin
Preschool provides all food (is healthy, have checked menus and asked Q's) and I'm not allowed to pack him any so will be forced to relinquish some control then.
He gets his"5 a day" of fruit&veg and enough of other things.

We put him on and said he couldn't get up until he did a poo (he had all the signs). But he ended up in tears saying he couldn't do it and someone said he could get tears there if he pushes when nothing there (someone here?) so didn't want that to happen or make it worse... So thought he'd have done one in his pull up while sleeping by now but he hasn't. He's waking a lot moaning and curling up like he needs a poo but nothing Sad

HavePatience · 15/06/2011 21:55

What is Luther?

ronshar · 15/06/2011 21:57

Is that "thanks ronshar, butt out" or thanks ronshar you pain in my ass? I dont mind either wayGrin
It sounds like you just need a bit of patience (get it, a little joke for you) and a small reduction in iron. But most importantly please dont worry about it. Lots of children are scared of doing a poo in the potty or the loo. It is a stage that will pass soon enough.

ronshar · 15/06/2011 21:57

BBC qone last night. Scarey police drama thng.

ronshar · 15/06/2011 21:58

BBC One even.

HavePatience · 15/06/2011 22:05

Grin Blush no it was an honest thanks! Smile
It's comforting to know that he's not the only child who does this. I'm frightened of making it all a negative experience for him so find it hard to be very firm about it.

Honeymoonmummy · 15/06/2011 22:29

Hi all, I'm up to pg 16 but giving up now to sleep. Things not been too bad the last few days after a really shitty week last week, went back to paediatrician on Mon he has recommended weaning DS at 17 weeks Shock

ronshar · 15/06/2011 23:01

HMM. SSHHH dont tell anyone but I havent made it further than 19 weeks with any of my children. They were all allergic before so figured I had nothing to lose.
Hope you are feeling better and your meds are doing their stuff for you.

KSal · 16/06/2011 08:18

I weaned Orin at 21 or 22 weeks... never thought i would, but thought it would help with sleep and reflux and i was a bit depserate on the sleep front. Helped with sleep (controversially... it basically helped him sleep during the day which he just wouldn't do and that knocked on to better night sleep.... have to keep reminding myself that his sleep used to be worse than it is now) but didn't help with the reflux, but emma was the same on that score.

tis more of a hassle compared with waiting to 6 months because of food restrictions and having to sterilise and puree stuff, but you get a system going

ronshar i am madly jealous of your festival antics.... DH is off to glasto next weekend, he goes every time. my last festival was heavily pg Latitude with Emma. I can't wait til both kids are old enough to be dumped on a grandparent for the entire duration and go a serious festival bender (can you tell i don't get out much?)

KSal · 16/06/2011 08:19

i mean i was heavily pg with emma, i.e. 3 years ago

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2011 09:58

The paed said don't need to bother with sterilising.

KSal · 16/06/2011 10:49

ah well that would make it easier... i did wonder why to be honest but my HV said it so i did it

SHH dont tell any one but I stopped sterilising after DD1 was 4 months old. But then I only ever boiled her bottles. Never had a steriliser or Milton in the house.
Didn't bother with either DD2 or W.
