Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronshar · 20/05/2011 20:48

Nope Pepper. My smirk get s bigger and bigger when I listen to the rubbish they spout about having the perfect birth and how Dh will be supporting them the whole time. I stand there thinking to myself. Ha ha you have NO idea of the world of pain and mental cruelty that awaits you.

Can you tell I have having a bad day? Is anyone else living in the twilight world of horrible 2 1/2 year olds? W is driving me crazy. He had a strop today about wanting to give the rabbit treats to the gunie pig(sp?) on the front of the packet. We dont have Gunie pigs or hamsters which he also cried about when I pointed that out to him. A serious strop in the garden over non exsistant animals. When I laughed he cried harder. I left him out there to get over the crisis!!
I am hanging on to what is left of my sanity by a small thread. Grin

HavePatience · 20/05/2011 21:17

I'm still in the world of bliss of the first, I guess.

Ronshar Q has unreasonable strops often. He's gotten over his food getting smaller and broken when he eats it. But there are other silly things. Not often, but they do happen. I do what you do and ignore them. This seems to be the most effective approach. A gentle short explanation of reality, then leave it. DH will sit there trying to reason and explain... I just watch and think... sucker! Grin

He also wants to do everything "by myself". "want to do it by myself. I don't want mommy to help you". (he calls himself "you" quite a lot Hmm ).

It's just frustrating when he can't do it and he insists on trying over and over again... as a teacher I know how valuable this is, but sometimes it's irritating Blush

My cm gave him a bicycle that is his size today. Someone she knew was going to throw it in the skip. It was perfectly good. It's used, but perfectly good condition, just needed to lower the seat and we'll need to buy some stabilisers. He also has his wooden balance bike, which he doesn't use a lot - still uses the scuttlebug loads because it's so smooth riding. But he loves the new bike.

CakeandRoses · 20/05/2011 22:54

sorry ronshar but I just properly chuckled at that Grin

mine's been a bit overemotional today but thankfully not about nonexistent animals.

i too can't listen to people talk about their planned future perfect birth without thinking 'Oh oh, guaranteed c-sec with forceps and lots of horrific embarrassing moments involving wind, wee or poo' these days Grin

ronshar · 21/05/2011 11:05

Thats ok Cakes. I can laugh about it now!

HP, W also gets very upset if one of his bars is broken in the packet. I mean like thats my fault. Often they are broken bnecause he has chucke dit on the floor

ronshar · 21/05/2011 11:10

Oops. Sorry had to post as door bell rang.
It was my new Karen Millen shoes being delivered. I love shoes.

Pistachio, how are you? Still cryingWink I hope not. Your pictures are all so lovely. I wish I looked so serene and happy in my baby photos.

Hmm. How are you getting on? Have the Tablets kicked in yet?

My brain is mush so cant rememeber what else has been going on. Hello everyone anyway.

Honeymoonmummy · 21/05/2011 11:32

Hi all, have not read since last post, Dylan crying downstairs but I think I might have mastitis - boob bit sore whether feeding or not (not v sore) and area above boob is pinkish. Would you get an emergency doc appt for this?

ronshar · 21/05/2011 12:01

Not yet HMM. Try to feed lots on the boob that is sore. Paracetamol for the pain should help take the edge off. I think that is the right advice. Star is the Mastitis queen.

CakeandRoses · 21/05/2011 12:12

honey i've had mastitis several times with A (not at all with F tho strangely). are you getting any flu-like symptoms too? can you feel any lumps anywhere in that area?

i managed to avoid docs/antibiotics every time by:

having v hot baths and massaging the sore area

feeding A with her nose in the direction of the sore area

taking ibruprofen for the pain but also to reduce the inflammation (as that seems to be what causes the flu symptoms)

hope it gets better v soon. you have my sympathy as it's yuk.

teh only other thing i can think it could be is thrush, might be worth checking out the symptoms for that

i've had to stop looking at your pics pistachio as they're making me ache with broodiness. A looks so unfolded and big compared to your newborn.

dh and i came v close to not being sensible in that regard last night. if i do wind up pg then i'll blame your P for looking so scrummy Smile

Honeymoonmummy · 21/05/2011 13:35

Thanks guys, have since spoken to nhs direct who referred me to out of hours nurse who said may be blocked duct without mastitis because no flu-like symptoms so am trying to feed more from that side and warm flannel, just had hot shower, have to pop out soon but will have a bath when I get back. Thanks x

Honeymoonmummy · 21/05/2011 13:35

Oh and no lumps.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/05/2011 20:26

Oh bravo - I was reading through and going to say that it sounds like a blocked duct and not mastitis, so glad to see that I agree with professionals :).

HavePatience · 21/05/2011 20:44

HMM I hope you can unblock it without too much trouble. I had mastitis a lot and it hurts. Massaging it helps loads from what I remember.

Ronshar - oh yes, broken bars in packets... such a tragedy here as well!

Pistachio - I had an epidural, pethadine earlier before that which had lasted for a couple of hours, ventouse and a local anesthetic for the stitching... and I was still high as a kite and crying all of the time overly emotional after Q's birth. I think it's perfectly normal Grin.

For more than a month afterward, I would see DH holding Q and I would cry with happiness. I just could not believe or understand what I had done to deserve this happiness and this amazing love. I would hold him and look at him and cry and cry because I was so incredibly happy and amazed that I had made him...
DH was completely perplexed because I could barely get out a sentence about Q without starting to cry and I would usually add "isn't this just the most beautiful thing in the world?" He was in agreement, but so Confused

pepperrabbit · 21/05/2011 21:49

star - for the first whole week after I had DD, safe in the absolute knowledge she would be my last baby and I never never had to give birth again, I would look at DH and say "thank god that's over....."
Apparently that's all I said in the delivery room for the first hour as well Grin

Anyhow, this week in the pepper household I have discovered that DS2 (who is only just 5), has been attending private french classes at lunchtime at school - completely off his own bat and without my knowledge Hmm. Clearly he feels that even at this early age I'm letting him down education wise. Lovely letter from the lady who runs the classes suggesting maybe I'd like to pay for them!
DS1 had to fill in his choice of friends for when he goes up to the Junior school next term - but he didn't understand - and wrote DD and his cousin and only one schoolfriend. He was so upset when I explained, tears and tears, poor poppet. I'll have to go in on monday to sort it out. He's not stupid so they must have explained it really badly.
DD is completely in the "I do it!" zone as well. Lots of strops and proper pouty mouth on her, makes me laugh which drives her crazy Grin

HavePatience · 21/05/2011 22:31

Awww pepper! Poor DS1. We used to do this at my school for moving up to the next year group and last year one little boy put me on his list Grin along with his mother and younger sister.
Grin re the French classes!

You and ronshar are only making my decision to have an only more firm :) I enjoy living in bliss. Tantrums are temporary and only from one dc. It's ideal

Purpleprickles · 22/05/2011 17:34

Hello all- just a quick post as having a very busy weekend. Dh and I went to a child-free wedding yesterday, am always a bit Hmm when we get those type of invites as although I'm grateful for days off to be just me I don't like to be told when to do it (stubborn emoticon). Anyway my parents came to stay so they could babysit ds for us. They took to a friends party so he had a great day anyway. Wedding was very nice too and I got to do some very bad dancing but hey I was enjoying myself.
Coconut Feet the whole African snails laying eggs is the one thing putting me off having them. Apparently you just need to collect the eggs every few days and freeze them so they don't hatch but that makes me feel a bit evil and sick, so I'm undecided still.
Ronshar I am a real shoe love too. If I was rich I would buy most of these and have them on display in a huge walk in wardrobe along with a collection of Lulu Guiness bags. I can dream.
HMM Sorry to hear about the blocked duct, afraid I have no advice to add just sympathy.

Coconutfeet · 22/05/2011 19:32

That's exactly what put me off getting the snails for my classroom. It made me feel a bit queasy. The snails are great though. If I get a bigger classroom (and a someone to work with who might actually help out) next year I might bite the bullet and get some.

How's the blocked duct HMM? I remember getting those if I went too long between feeds. Really uncomfortable. You have my sympathies.

Smile to shoes Ronshar. I love it when I get a gorgeous parcel through the door. I ordered a lovely winter coat the other day. (I know it's a slightly odd time of the year but it was only £62 reduced from £225 so I thought I'd be organised for next winter) all beautifully packaged and wrapped in tissue. It was so exciting.

I'm feeling very stiff as I've started doing Shred properly. Because of my ankle and all the other crap that was going on it's been a while since I did any proper exercise and I ache. There are loads of threads on here saying how great it is so I'm going to keep at it, but ouch!

CSWS - did you get your Amby nest listed on Ebay?

HavePatience · 22/05/2011 19:44

I have so much to list for ebay but now that my friend/colleague is pg, I just want to give it all to her.

Giving the clothes to the other little boy I know at Q's cm (his mother is really lovely) made me so much happier than selling them because I can now see him wearing them and that brings me some joy.

I could really use the money, but I think I'd be happier if I gave the stuff to my friend.

I already gave some tiny baby supplies taking up space away to our mechanic's wife when he was made redundant and they were suddenly expecting a new baby. That would have been a nice sum of money as well! Oh well.

CF good on you doing Shred! I'd like to do it but ..... hmmm.... excuse searching.... oh, I'm lazy. Grin

ronshar · 22/05/2011 20:14

Star it means that when you die you will go to a lovely place where as I will go somewhere that will make me wear ugly shoes!

Pistachio they are high a bit lacey and peep toes. I may try and be very daring and link to them.

Purple. OMG they are fabulous shoes. I would sell a child for a walk in wardrobeWink

HMM I hope you have unblocked your ductSmile

Myjob. I do believe you get the children you deserve. You are so lovely that your children will always be lovely.

These are the shoes.

I need some suggestions for what kind of headwear for church wedding on Saturday. DH is best man. Colour etc.
Help me stylish ladies.

HavePatience · 22/05/2011 20:25

Wow ronshar. You are way out of my league style-wise. I just wear the same boring shoes in my closet and wouldn't even know where to begin to pick out something gorgeous. But those shoes are very pretty - as is the dress :)
Headwear Confused you mean like for your hair?

HavePatience · 22/05/2011 20:28

We picked strawberries in the windy weather today :)

I could remember the first picking of the season before I got pg, when I was pg (incredibly difficult to do!), when Q was under 1, last year at around 18/19 months I think and now this year... it's one of my favourite things to do and so amazing how quickly time has gone by! I hope Q always enjoys it. If not, DH and I will.
