Going to my cousins house in kildare which is about 2 hours from here. He's having bbq and easter egg hunt for the kids so should be fun!! Hope teeth are on their way soon. How has he been today?

CakeandRoses · 23/04/2011 16:42

Sounds like a lovely morning woodlands

Well done on the weighloss memphis being slim is far nicer than biscuits but not cake

mlic, how're your boys now?

Hope you have a fab day kk! Sounds exactly like our day yday and we had a brill time

Did you get smashed then tsc? :D

Just been mooching around and shopping with DH and A, making the most of our F-free day. DH treated me to a lovely new dress from Monsoon. It's made me feel all holidayish so very much want to book something we can look forward to. DH has now broadened the hols choices from 'somewhere in America' to possibly a cruise instead (dh is in charge of holidays and trips and I'm in charge of anything house-related - we both get right of veto tho). Anyone been/know anyone who's been on a cruise with under 3s?

Hoping you're all having a lovely easter and those awaiting new teeth, get some!

kkfairybrains · 23/04/2011 20:42

never been on a cruise but god that sounds lovely!! lucky you!
oh god i cant wait to be finished work my legs are so sore Sad feels like they're all seizing up so a long soak in the bath is in order! quick break and backi to it and should be finished by 10! really miss my little woman too she's been up in her granny's all day!

CherryPie3 · 23/04/2011 20:54

Cake - a cruise sounds brilliant! :). Sadly no experience of it with kiddies as dh refuses to go on a cruise due to severe sea sickness :(. But I hope you do have a lovely time (if you go..)

TSC - Hope you have a better night tonight...

Apparently we have a storm brewing here, could hit tonight or tomorrow. Couldn't care less anymore - the sun has given the mother of all headaches! But we've had a lovely time, I now need to crack on with the housework as no doubt we shall have visitors tomorrow besides the Easter Bunny and I don't my house looking like I couldn't be arsed to do eff all in it. Gonna take me a while cos theres lots of clean clothes to iron and put away. (mlic, I think I'm a convert...Grin)

I hope you all have a lovely Easter, I imagine I'll be back on here on Monday as very unlikely I'll get chance tomorrow.

xxx

It's really irritating me that here at my PILs, me, DH and J are squished into a tiny bedroom with two single beds that is now made even smaller with the travel cot, whereas both BIL and SIL who are here on their own are in their massive bedrooms each with double bed. Neither of them lives at home or has done for some time, but because they were still based at home when their parents moved in here about six years ago, they each got a big bedroom while DH got the little manky one at the back. I think I would feel guilty taking up a double bed on my own while we were in singles.

Went for lovely long walk today in the sunshine, a good 8 miles, and I had J in the new sling for at least 5 miles of that. I ACHE all over now.

malibustac · 23/04/2011 21:52

Hi all

Hope everyones weekend is going well. We went to my aunts yesterday with some friends had a great night. R stayed at sil and had her up at 5.30 in the morning I thinks its because she doesn't have blackout curtains. Her 4th tooth is definately about to pop through so she is a little grump wish they would all just come through.

Mlic what a little shit is your poor boy ok?

How was your night tsc? Meant to say I may be heading your way in july, know its ages away but maybe we could try to meet up and of course anyone else that can get to manchester Grin

How rude of them. Woodlands, surely they could have given you's a bigger room. The walk sounds lovely you'll sleep tonight

Are you staying at your cousins kk?

Memphis hope your having a great night out

Cherry sounds like uour weekend has been nice, wehad pissy rain until 4.30. Today think it cleared the air.

Well I'm hoping for an early night but my bloody sister is in. (10 years younger and more mummied than a sister)

Going to mil tomorrow then its the old firm football match seems as if everyone is descending on us then a lovely roast

CakeandRoses · 23/04/2011 22:35

that is seriously selfish woodlands and a bit unthinking of your PILs too.

you may ache but think of the calories you'll have burned - serious eating allowed following that Smile

poor w getting kicked, mlic Sad was it intentional? is the house you looked at back near your mam's?

our neighbours my rightful house is now on the market and i'm obsessively looking at it on the agent's website and feeling cross Angry

we're supposed to be watching a film together but it started too slowly for me so i sidled up to my Mac and started hitting google and mumsnet Grin

i'm really not sure re cruise [downer emoticon]. the more i google it think about it, the more i worry you'd feel stuck in your cabin whilst the children slept in the evenings.

i also keep googling places in america and not fancying anything except stuff like san francisco on the west coast too which is too far to fly right now, imo. i would just go to italy over and over again (whilst the children are small) if it was left to me.

Ive been on a cruise but I didnt have a child then. Theres LOADS of things aimed at young children on there though. They'd have plenty to do, there are creche workers who you can leave them with (prob have to pay extra, not sure)

CakeandRoses · 24/04/2011 08:52

good grief mlic, 2yos can be horribly violent little things at times but deliberately kicking a baby's tummy is a new low. no wonder you were angry.

re the house - don't you want to live back in the same area as your mam or would that be too pricey right now?

my friend's garden backs onto a railway line at a similar distance to you're describing and it isn't a problem at all. you only really notice the trains because the toddlers get so excited about them (they'd prob pay extra to live there Smile)

my thinking re cruise and children vs a hotel room is that my preferred alternative would really be a villa in the middle of Italian countryside, so we could sit downstairs/on the terrace and eat/drink/chat when they're in bed.

the fact that you'd (ie more overprotective than even me) be willing to use the babysitting service on a cruise has made me think perhaps that's an option after all tho!

dh there are lots of things to do but the ages the children are makes it harder to leave them (not that i'd want to do that all the time) as most stuff is for +3years. Also the pools are only for potty-trained children (ie not ok for A)

Maybe, it's something that would be better when at least 1 of them is old enough to go in the children's clubs at least some of the time?

sorry, about all this holiday talk, hadn't meant to take over the thread with it Blush. off to change Ms Smelly Pants. What you all up to today?

Really cake? Didnt know that about the pool, thought it would be ok in a swim nappy.

D had an awful night last night, think its his teeth :(

We're going to FILs house for lunch, its not as hot today but hopefully will still be nice to go in the garden.

CakeandRoses · 24/04/2011 09:26

Happy easter all! [Busmile]

R was up every hour last night I am beyond tired. Its a gorgeous day today so we are taking her to the park and using loads of anbesol as I am sure its her teeth.

Cakes fwiw the italian villa sounds gorgeous but a cruise also has loads to offer and most are very family orientated so as well as using the babysitters you could take them with you. Also regarding the potty training would A not be ok with swimmers on as that's what their designed for. All this holiday talk is making me Envy

Mlic the house sounds gorgeous. That's is really bad about that boy kicking W on purpose what did his mum do?

Dh how has your birthday weekend been?

CakeandRoses · 24/04/2011 09:54

i freeze it in a 'ball' (after knocking out the air) and then take out a couple of hours (i think!) to defrost at room temp before using.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 24/04/2011 09:57

maybe half a day to be on the safe side - you don't want it to be cold when you shape it

morning all....oh oh oooooooooooh my head!!!! i drank a lot of wine, and then stupidly finished off the night with a bottle of Katy cider, its about 7% and is so chemically it makes me ill, so i am tednder today, but didnt stop me mopping the floors! i didnt get a lie in as L was up at 5.30 and has cried since, he is pulling his other ear now, dh thinks its an infection but he is still on anti biotics, mum said as he has the runs due to them they wont work properly as hes just pooing them out????? he is asleep now, was so good to catch up with friends and I was showing pics of L they cant believe the size of him. was good as we didnt talk babies much i steered towards my bike talk (my other baby!!)
for easter L has got t shirts, money for the bank and a Sophie la giraffe, he already has one so would it be bad to ebay it???
dh is sorting out is off road bike, he has decided to sell it Shock but that was after he went and got a new road bike yesterday!!! i pushed him to on the understanding that he gets me a (nearly) new car in October of my choice not his!
cakes I would love to go to Italy, we have alweays worried that its not child friendly, where would you recommend?? I think a cruise would be great for a little bit older kids but you wont catch me on the water!!!
mlic house would be goos, E and W would love a garden, whew I used to live there was a train line after a few weeks you dont even hear it and ours was the mainline to London ao quite busy!

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/04/2011 10:50

memphis sorry keep meaning to catch up on various posts downthread, I'm not ignoring you, promise!

your poor head! Sounds as tho the night was good compensation for it tho!

Yy, italy is BRILL for children. Have taken F to sorrento and rome and it was lovely. The food suits most children (apart from your neices prob) as pizza and pasta are usually faves. The restaurants are v welcoming to children as the culture there is so much more family/child-friendly. F got soo much attention everywhere we went - imagine this scene happening in the uk: cool-looking young man walks past and comments on how beautiful your baby is :-)

Re places to go then it depends on the type of holiday/location you enjoy eg beach/countryside/lakeside/city etc. I think pretty much everywhere would be great for children tho some places might not be so buggy-friendly - eg sorrento is tough and capri is hell with a buggy.

If you enjoy travelling round a bit then sardinia is beautiful and great to go from place to place round the coast.

I am slightly biaised as I LOVE italy and everything about it. My dream is to live there or have a second home there one day

Nope stac apparently not even swim nappies!

mlic your poor poor dh's aunt!

Do you think you will get the house?
