I'm afraid I have no knowledge about Ibiza. I have, however, been up since 5, it's only 9am and I'm knackered. Caffeine is my friend.

CakeandRoses · 04/05/2011 22:21

i don't want to end up in the middle of hell clubbers paradise in somewhere like san antonio tho so need guidance as to 'areas'

dh has sworn off ever going to spain with me again after a godforsakenromantic trip to valencia where i could eat the sum total of nada. supposedly ibiza is better than the mainland for veggies...

mmm, i love houmous, so does j.

so much to catch up on again! memphis, the operation sounds so grim, you must be really pleased it's over.

tsc fingers crossed that this is it and everything will get better for you from now on!

trudyla no point in comparing. j isn't talking or crawling or pulling up or clapping yet. but my MIL insists he's a genius as he can turn the pages of a book Hmm

he is being a bit of a nightmare though. He suddenly seems to have developed separation anxiety. He doesn't like to sleep unless it's actually on me - I have to let him nap on me and I let him sleep on me when he wakes at about 5.30am as I can't be arsed to wake up at that time. It's like having a sodding newborn. He feeds at 11pmish, 2.30amish and 5.30amish. This is ridiculous for a 9.5 month old, 10kg+ baby. He is normally awake for at least an hour sometime during the night. During the day he is grumpy as he isn't getting enough sleep. At mealtimes he is normally so tired and hungry and grumpy that he refuses to feed himself, flings food on the floor and just opens his mouth like a little baby bird for me to put food in. He then screams after a while, before he's had enough food even. So then he wakes hungry in the night...

aargh. Sorry for rant. He keeps crying on and off in the bedroom and it stresses me out so much. Don't know what I can do about it - he'll only be happy if I let him sleep on me but I can't let him do that the whole time.

Just spent half the evening updating my CV - my dream job has come up, and I wasn't planning to apply, but changed my mind tonight (deadline tomorrow). It's full time and the other side of London, but I thought I can at least apply and take it from there!

plus I'd have to pay back my mat pay if I didn't go back to work. Bad idea all round! At least my CV is up to date now.

E can't turn pages! she just rips them!
another thing she started doing today- i say 'your bold' messing obviously! but shr shakes her head to say no! funny!
Tsc brill about frankie! long may it continue!
spireal that sound good with M milk. E takes 7oz morning and night and 4oz about half 3 or 4. She's only started drinking properly from a cup very recently. You can get one's that are non spill
memphis you poor thing. No advise about a chair for L sorry! e just sits on the floor or walker or on the seat with us.
Got so much done today! E was so content to sit on the floor and crawl around and play all day while i washed and ironed holiday clothes, cleaned hoovered and mopped everywhere and cooked dinner and lunch. She sat in the utility playing with dp football boot and watching the washing machine for about 45 mins! strange child!
My mum gave me a bag of stuff at the weekend from when i was a baby! a scrap book with all my stuff and cards through all the years and loads of my playschool work and pictures and professional photos. Plane tickets and all! was so lovely to see everything so will def be doing it for ellie! there's a big resemblance in us actually!

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/05/2011 07:47

Morning,

I have a random ques for those of you in the North, Im just watching the news and our newsreaders speak with a standard newsreader accent of someone who lives in the south.
Do northern newreaders speak the local accent or do they have a southerly accent too?

Grin at dh's question. Makes a change from my laundry ones I guess.

woodlands it does sound like separation anxiety and it should get easier with time. we've all got different parenting styles on here so will prob offer different advice but with F, I just 'went with it' during the uber-clingy periods. not bloody enjoyable at the time altho i now i have a wriggly toddler, i really miss those hour's cuddles! he's now v confident and independent so it shows that clingy periods are often just a phase and aren't indicative of their personality.

did you put the core night thing on hold? you were my inspiration to drop A's night feeds then and it's been brilliant - has made a real difference to her sleep and day feeds.

poor you mlic, the last bloody thing you need after a shit day is for bedtime to be later Sad hopefully E will be better this evening. how was W overnight? have to say i admire you for waking w up this morning!

wss hope you didn't OD on caffeine and you got some peace today/yday Confused

did tiny stay in bed tsc?

memph how's the mouth now? ibiza's looking like a good bet - dh is coming round to it.

Right survey coming up

CakeandRoses · 05/05/2011 09:05

It's a big one!

Baby's age (closest to 9m, 9.5m or 10m):
Just turned 9 months (27th April)

Crawling?
yep Sad easy days are no more

Pulling up on furniture to stand?
yep, her fave 'aid' is a tiny cupboard knob about a foot off the floor so once she's up there's nowhere for her to go from there. Hmm

Coasting?
not really, see above Hmm. we don't spend much time in the sitting room so she hasn't had a chance to try out cruising round the sofa/coffee table

Standing unaided?
no

Walking?
no

Talking?
Just 'dada', human beatbox and lots of aaaaeeehhh, babbling and squealing

Says Dada and Mama to the right parent?
yes, she does only say Dada to dh Sad

Waving?
yep

Clapping?
Yes but not that well

Pointing?
no (checks pfb's 'updates' and sees he was a late pointer too Grin)

Understands 'no'?
Thinks its ruddy hilarious Hmm

Kisses?
Yes, tried to give dh a proper frenchie when he went off to work this morning actually Smile

Page-turning? Grin
I feel terrible with stuff like this as we read to F sooo much from an early age and he adores books whereas I only really read to A when we do their 3 bedtime stories Blush Have decided to make amends and she just loved reading 'that's not my puppy' and a farm animal book. Anyhow, she can turn the page but only if it's primed first (ie i separate it slightly from the pages below)

Using pincer grip?
It's a bit of a mangled one but it's def the start of it

BLW/Purees/Combo?
100% BLW and eating like mad. Fave food seems to be humous with anything, pasta, and baked potato, plus baby rice/ground almond/banana mixture for pud (on loaded spoon). She also loves picking up beans and raisins.

No of milk feeds?
4 (7.30am ish, 4pm, 7.15pm, 11.30pm) but might drop the 11.30pm one soon as per my post last night

Special skills?
She tries to blow back (by use of a special form of raspberries) if you blow her face. She offers her hand if I say "where's that baby's hand?" (and then pretend to eat it). Has a really dirty laugh (which F does too) - one of those where it makes everyone in earshot laugh too, tho saying that, most normal people can't resist any baby's laugh as it's one of the best sounds on earth aside from a cork popping a quiet baby monitor. Tries to do the 'twinkle' action to Twinkle Twinkle.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 05/05/2011 09:07

oh and she also 'blows kisses' but without the hand part if that makes sense

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 05/05/2011 09:11

oh and number of teeth?
2.5 (top one is almost thru now)

OP posts:
Spirael · 05/05/2011 09:19

They have regional 'attitudes' as well, DH. Wink As someone who's lived in the South as well as in Yorkshire, BBC Look North take themselves a lot less seriously than their London colleagues!

M still only has one bottom tooth, MLIC. I really want her to get a few more, as I think she'll have an easier time eating with a few more teeth in there! She gets very frustrated when she can't bite through things. I wonder if they do false teeth for babies? Grin

From last weekend, M fails the page-turning test... If you give her a book she immediately chews on it or tries to rip it up. Confused Her favourite game currently is tearing old newspapers to shreds and eating them.

Grin At you asking your DH for a Bounty in your sleep, memphis. Last night while sleeping, I apparently woke DH by patting on his arm as if it were M, then had a conversation with him about where M was, and how we shouldn't share with her.

M has never slept in bed with us. Hmm

Spirael · 05/05/2011 09:30

X-post. :) Here you go Cake!

Baby's age (closest to 9m, 9.5m or 10m):
About to turn 10 months on the 7th. But she was a few weeks early!

Crawling?
Nope.

Pulling up on furniture to stand?
She tried once, faceplanted the carpet, and seems to have given up!

Coasting?
No.

Standing unaided?
Kind of... If we stand her up holding onto something (like her walker) she can remain upright without us supporting her. For about three seconds.

Walking?
Ha!

Talking?
Does "Rararararararara!" mean anything to anyone?

Says Dada and Mama to the right parent?
Nope.

Waving?
Nope, though she will randomly flap her arms like a bird. Hmm

Clapping?
Yes, finally!

Pointing?
No, just blank looks when you ask her where something is.

Understands 'no'?
Doesn't seem to. (In fact she doesn't seem to understand anything. Confused)

Kisses?
Nope.

Page-turning?
No, but she can do page-eating!

Using pincer grip?
Yes, this is one thing she's incredibly good at and has been doing for months! She can get the tiniest speck of dirt off the carpet and straight into her mouth, or dig out my pendant from under three layers of clothes. (The pendant being her favourite teether...)

BLW/Purees/Combo?
Combo. She can manage (or has a good go) at pretty much anything. Her favourite food is curry. Grin She doesn't seem to like potatos, except when they're roasted or fried.

No of milk feeds?
3, 7floz at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 6:30pm.

Special skills?
Reliably sleeping through the night? Wink Though the nursery is lamenting the fact that when M is sick she's really sick. Everything comes up, and goes everywhere. Apparently the last occasion was like a scene from the exorcist...

Number of teeth?
Just 1!

[Goes to do some actual work.]

Spirael · 05/05/2011 09:32

Actually, wait... I tell a lie when I say she can't understand anything. She seems to understand "Give Mummy the spoon/fork (so I can get more food for you)". Wink

CakeandRoses · 05/05/2011 09:34

Loved memphis and spirael sleep talking!

Have you got some decent pain-killers now memph?

Oh and one last survey question...

Using a pushalong walker?
No! Falls over immediately.
