where is it chul? how's the arm?

just remembered i did something similar once when i poured boiling soup into a blender i was holding and the bottom fell out and the soup scalded my hand and arm Angry It was during my lunch hour at work (worked from home) so had to take the afternoon off. Still ate the soup tho

how're you feeling trudy?

Had a LOVELY time last night at the festival. had such a silly, funny evening with dh. I wasn't drunk (i never am) but was in v high spirits. had such a laugh rocking out, pretending to be one of the headbangers singing 'punch the lion in the throat' Hmm

off to a great may day fair today with a toy duck race and everything Smile

hope you all have a fab day too

dh thats gone so quick cant wait to see the dress!
we are having a day in doing bits in the house and getting things sorted for a carboot sale next week eventhough the sun is shining we are stuck in
computer or mn is on a go slow so im off for now!!!

Chulita · 02/05/2011 13:55

Don't worry cake, I've admitted defeat Grin There's a bit of history though which complicates it but it would be a bit of a faff explaining it for an aibu. The arm's ok, ouch re the soup though! Sounds like you had a brilliant time yesterday and I'm very jealous of the fair today!

CakeandRoses · 02/05/2011 18:29

good grief, tis quiet on here at the mo. Had another lovely day in the sun.

Have been a martyr very generous and 'let' dh go out to watch the football at a pub whilst i gave F and A dinner. conjured up a chickpea/coconut milk dal type thing which A had with chapati and F and i had with chapati and poppadom.

dh is making it up to me with a dvd and takeaway later

just thinking about baking a cake/cupcakes now

what have you guys been up to?

OP posts:
memphis83 · 02/05/2011 18:48

not been up to much here today went for a walk and nearly got blown away i couldnt walk the wind was pushing me into doing a silly run!!! also just done some jobs around the house.
L has got a massive purple bruise on his cheek from banging it yesterday.
ive just had a bath as im so wound up about my operation in the morning i can feel a panic attack brewing! cant really think straight and L is being fussy tonight so im off to sort him!

CakeandRoses · 02/05/2011 18:59

is your op tomo memphis? it will be a real relief once it's done but can understand why you're nervous. will be thinking of you.

time to get out the old lady bubble bath to relax you Smile

poor L's cheek Sad

F had the biggest splinter (1/2 a cm) under his toenail yday Shock. I operated on him on a table at the festival using my first aid kit and eyebrow tweezers [professional]

just checked out A's gums as she bit me really really hard and wouldn't let go when i bf her when we were out earlier (so i couldn't even properly scream). anyway, her top tooth is finally partially broken thru.

oh and keep meaning to ask...

A's now sleeping really well from her 'dreamfeed' til 5am exactly, wakes for 5-20mins then goes back down til 'morning'. i don't feed her or even pick her up at 5am, i just shush/pat until she goes back to sleep, sometimes anbesol her too. anyone else's baby doing that? i can't figure out why she's waking at the same time for no apparent reason.

OP posts:
MelissaM · 02/05/2011 19:13

I wish cake! Think they just get in the habit of waking, or could be a noisy milkman?

Good luck for tomorrow Memph.

Not much going on here other than washing and housework. Horrendous nights with teeth and wind. Just dosed L up so hopefully he'll sleep better and not be in too much pain.

Have an absess on my gum so need to call dentist in morning. :(

thanks for well wishes, you ok mlic? you've been quiet.
cake L wakes every morning at 5.30 without fail that used to be our wake up time but now i give him a bottle and leave him in his cot while he feeds himself back to sleep, we live on a road on our own so no outside noise wakes him but its every morning!!

WhatSheSaid · 02/05/2011 21:28

Yep, G wakes 5ish too and today she went back to sleep till 6.30. Some days she is just up from then - usually 5.30/6sih rather than 5. I remember A doing the same at exactly the same age - for a month she woke at 5 every day and then just stopped doing it and slept till longer.

mlic you OK? Will it make you feel any better if I tell you that it is Mothers Day in NZ this Sunday and my dh is buggering off to a tropical island for three days Grin Yes, yes, I know it's "work" but still

Woodlands · 02/05/2011 22:08

good luck tomorrow memphis - thinking of you.

that sucks WSS! tropical island indeed. My DH has just been on a stag weekend to Leeds and that was bad enough!

kkfairybrains · 02/05/2011 22:50

hey ladies haven't been on in couple of days and thought i'd come back to loads of posts!
memph will be thinking of you tomorrow. hope it all goes well and that you'll recover fairly quickly x
wss that's shit! poor you!
chulita your poor arm!!
cakes the festival sounded brill! sounds like you get on so well it's lovely! we have KOL the 28th of this month and really looking forward to it cos its a full day thing like a music festival!
E is saying loads of words the last couple of days! she tries to copy everything we say and its very cute! i asked her 'where's my phone?' as she's always stealing it and she said 'wayo'(where) and she says 'daydid' (david my brother) and 'gawy' (gary my cousin) and says her own name and mama dada and nana.
and she's copying everything we do too it's very funny!
i done a mini marathon today and feeling great after it! walked and jogged it and could have done better but still have this goddamn cold!

CakeandRoses · 03/05/2011 00:13

hopefully A will just stop her 5am wakeups of her own accord like your A did wss

i would be so flipping annoyed about dh buggering off on mothers day. why on earth did they arrange it then or was there no choice?

kk oh my gosh, E sounds divine! what a bright little thing.

am v jealous re KOL - sounds like it should be an amazing day.

dh and i do muddle along pretty well together but we bicker tons too - which is the secret to a successful relationship, i always think Grin

memphis thought i'd mention that i'd heard you're not 'supposed' to leave them with a bottle in bed, i couldn't remember why so just looked it up and it said it can increase the risk of ear infections and also tooth delay. have no idea how much of a risk but thought i'd let you know. i'm sure 'they' just decide on this stuff to make parents' lives harder tho Wink

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 03/05/2011 00:14

oh and well done on the mini-marathon too kk

stac you ok? can;t remember if you said you were going off somewhere or not

Eek, there was a tornado here this afternoon!

Not in the bit of Auckland I'm in, more north than me. Scary pictures on news though.

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/05/2011 08:10

memphis thinking of you this morning.

wss a tornado?! So scary!

I think Ive cracked Dylan's sleep, after his first wake up somewhere between 2 and 6am he'll only sleep with my boob in his mouth, tiring.

CakeandRoses · 03/05/2011 08:32

blooming heck wss Shock, nature isn't being kind to you guys at the moment. do you know anyone affected?

dh was 'i've cracked it' sarcastic? doesn't sound like a great night sleep to me!

watched 'the next three days' on dvd last night - nail-biting stuff.

I was up a few times last night but i expected that having seen A's tooth situation yday.

those of you with a toddler too...

how far do you go to safe-guard your baby from toddler-related injuries? do you let your baby play in your toddler's room?

i.e. A would happily play alongside Felix and with his toys for ages given the chance but I never let her play in his room unsupervised (by me or dh) as so many of his toys have small parts (e.g. numerous car and train wheels) so it's choking hazard central. F is usually v affectionate towards her but sometimes is just toddlerish and squashes her when he cuddles her, does 'row your boat' too vigorously etc (tho she rarely seems to mind Hmm) so it doesn't feel safe to leave them alone together.

she much prefers playing with his toys given the chance, bless her. she's currently sitting on the landing in ecstasy as she's got free access to his Thomas fan (weird i know but it came with some chinese Thomas PJs) whilst he's in nursery today.

Hiya ladies

Sorry haven't been on ended up at my aunts all weekend. Also saw our friend who's mums ill (just waiting). R isn't sleeping well at all. She is up every hour from 2am so I am knaclered.

Memphis sent you an fb message hope alls good today.

Cakes the playroom sounds like it will be amazing, can't wait to see pics.

Wss a tornado, glad it wasn't in your area but sad for the ones caught up in it. Was there much damage?

Mlic hope your ok

Kk ellie sounds a wee gab lol well done on your mini marathon.

Dh can't believe there's only 6 weeks till your wedding can't wait to see pics

Woodlands dp was due to go on a stag weekend but its been postponed thankfully

Chul how's your arm that sounded so sore

Waves at anyone I've missed

WhatSheSaid · 03/05/2011 08:46

Some damage to houses and cars and a shopping centre got a bit trashed. Two people dead and about 20 in hospital apparently. There wasn't even any wind where I am! Crazy stuff.

Re toddler, in our house our living room, playroom and kitchen are all upstairs so we spend nearly all our time up here - A's bedroom in downstairs so I have put all her toys with little bits in there - she's got a Playmobil farm in there for example. So we're pretty safe upstairs, just the non-chokable stuff here hopefully. I have heard of people putting older dc's toys in their room then baby gate on door of room so you can have door open to see toddler but baby can't get in.

She's not really rough with G, accidentally or otherwise, we've had the odd "too hard hug" but most of the time she's fine with her, maybe cos she's older than F she's a bit more aware of how hard she's hugging or whatever.

Chulita · 03/05/2011 08:47

memphis thinking of you today, good luck!

WhatSheSaid · 03/05/2011 08:48

ooh yes, good luck memphis

Chulita · 03/05/2011 10:22

Posting and running cos am late as usual
cake I let S play in L's room, I'm a bit too relaxed about what he plays with tbh, he manages to spit out tiny bits of oats that he doesn't want so I reckon on the off chance that a wheel came off L's car/train he'd spit it out and not swallow it. I also let them play alone in the living room together while I do tea, L is very rough and I often come in to him wailing and her sitting on top of him but I tell her off and leave them to it. I don't leave them unattended for ages but on the odd occasion that they're in L's room and I need a poo I'm just grateful for the quiet. I'm hoping to move them into the same room soon anyway so he'll have free access to all her stuff. I do keep popping in to check on them so it's not like he can gnaw on her toys for half an hour.

meant to say melissa - ouch re your abscess Sad hope you get something to sort it today. how're you feeling in yourself at the mo?

best of luck at the appt today tsc. really hope you get some help.

i'm too much of a panicker with F and A to follow your method chul but your rationale is makes sense. Think I'll follow wss and tsc's lead and do some toy segregation. I guess i could make the playroom just baby-safe toys which would be fine as i wasn't planning for him to have his trains and cars there anyway and i've already put stuff like his toy food and saucepans, musical instruments, puzzles and card games etc in there, all of which are cool for A.

just made some muffins and put A down for her nap. hoping to get a bit of sleep myself then catch up on clothes and book sorting as the house currently looks like a charity shop sorting room as so many shelves and cupboards are undergoing a 'change of use'. Have also found a whole bin bag's worth of dresses i'd put in the attic whilst pg with A, which is lovely for the summer but i don't seem to have any storage room for them now.
