I liked the CRESH acronym more than FESH so have used it. Welcome all ESH to your final stop on the journey. Rest your aching lady bits, try one of the many gin based cocktails, and try to molest the gorgeous waiting staff.

For a moment I though you were talking about a refreshing mint with a hole & fav snack for hosses [dimwit]. Still, that is a lot of wonga for a top to wear fer shit-shovelling. Is slim fit too so not for me. I baulk at paying 40 smackers for the standard polos so will be looking for bargains at the Joules sale at Newbs racecourse this weekend Grin

We bought a ladybird Trunkii for our one year old....was absolute saviour when snow descended on Gatwick & we were delayed for 24 hours, followed by 6 hour wait at Milan airport for a cocking bus to turn up (original destination was Chambery). Anyway, I digress - Trunkiis are just the right size for kiddy paraphernalia....toys, books, jim-jams, nappies. My other tip is, not surprisingly, to come prepared for delays - pushchair is a good idea so Squeaks can nap and when she's awake it's very useful for carting around duty-frees Grin

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 12:29

I also though she was refering to the mints. I thought it must be a bloody large packet!

I have to report that Artie drank 8oz of milk at the CM's yesterday. First time evah. I think this mean he is fully settled.

CluckyKate · 04/05/2011 14:30

That is good news Cossie - big relief for you, no!

I was thinking polo with face of baby Jesus on it selling on eBay. Bored, moi?

AlpinePony · 04/05/2011 15:54

FESH wisdom. Sat night a car was dumped outside our house. It's an absolutely beautiful 4x4 GMC Acadia, full leather interior, walnut finish etc., etc. It's clearly been stolen and left here - this is a permit only area - it's got no permit, is unlocked (although shut) and hasn't moved a jot since sat night. Great place to dump a car - residential street I mean, it's going to take a while for someone to notice. Thing is, it sticks out like a sore thumb in our street! Grin It's parked next to mine and I looked in this morning and think I see the business card of the owner, AIBU to fish it out and give them a ring or should I go straight to the police? They'd be delighted their car is safe & sound? Or, should I buy a pot of paint and re-paint it a different colour, put false plates on it and pretend it's mine? Wink

CurlyCasper · 04/05/2011 20:02

prob a bit late alps but, much as I'd be tempted by the respray option, I see no harm in getting the info from inside.

CluckyKate · 04/05/2011 20:11

Yep, agree with Curls....provided there are no muslim extremists operating in your area.

CurlyCasper · 04/05/2011 20:20

kate thanks for the Trunkii idea. I am planning to get one which will go as her father's hand luggage Wink Even if she's not interested this year (but doubt that as it will at least be something to climb on), it will get used in future. And the umbrella fold buggy is all lined up. We even got a shade-a-babe, which SFF thinks looks like a burka Hmm. Also got a TotSeat on ebay for cheaps.

FannyPriceless · 04/05/2011 21:20

alps 75 smackers?Shock You must be joking. And can you imagine how that super stretchy thin fabric would look across my dual-sunroofed blubber belly?

cos Good to hear about the CM milk success!

Bonnie has delivered her verdict on my parenting today. Apparently I am the 'Mummy Fat Controller'.Confused

We also had the following conversation:
Bonnie: Bonnie's daddy reads stories for Bonnie.
Me: And Mummy?
Bonnie: No... Mummy plays the DVDs.

(Those of you feeling smug - just you wait until those little cherubs can talk.)

Cosmosis · 04/05/2011 21:28

ha ha @ Bonnie!!!

AlpinePony · 05/05/2011 06:53

fanny Actually I bought one of their fancy polo shirts in the sale (23 quid!) and the fabric is actually really thick and good quality. I'm definitely going to buy again, but not at that price! Hmm I think the sizing is quite generous too and it's a nice shape - you know, goes in at the waist! Your daughter is a monster! Grin

CUNextTuesday · 05/05/2011 08:03

I would just like it on record that putting Rastus in his own room has been the best parenting decision I think I have ever made. That's all.

PollyPoo · 05/05/2011 08:29

Is he sleeping through Cunty?

AlpinePony · 05/05/2011 08:31

Well done cunty!

We had to set Bear's cot down yesterday to the lowest level due to him towering over the bars laughing and threatening to faceplant. I thought it was going to be tantrumtastic - as it was I got the best night's sleep I've had in aaaaaages! Grin

CUNextTuesday · 05/05/2011 08:49

As good as dammit poo. Straight through or with one brief wake up that only takes 5 mins to resolve

SilverSky · 05/05/2011 09:02
CurlyCasper · 05/05/2011 09:05

bloody brilliant! Hurray for Rastus on the sleep front and Artie on the milk at CMs!

FannyPriceless · 05/05/2011 09:10

Envy of cunty. Is it now that I admit that my nearly-11-month-old boy is still sleeping in my bed / draped across my front every night? Really wish I could get out of this situation but frankly it seems easier than standing over the cot trying to settle him several times in the night and - as a special bonus - having him wake up Bonnie too. Opinions please.

I had a crap day yesterday with the PND. I think I need to book myself some more horsy time.

I decided not to apply for the job I saw as I just don't feel up to leaping back into the business world pressure cooker full time. But I have sort of maybe been offered a part time job working two afternoons a week... at the village shop.Grin Obviously it would hardly cover the childcare but I think it would be fun, get me away from being mummy 24/7, and be a nice way to meet people. Am I mad to consider this?

AlpinePony · 05/05/2011 09:16

fanny Do it. You need to talk to "grown-ups" who won't call you Mummy Fat Controller. (One would hope).

AlpinePony · 05/05/2011 09:17

I'm a bit "odd' in that I've never felt "too good" to do menial tasks - I've worked on farms picking fruit, cleaning and in a supermarket. Just because you have an IQ of x - it does not mean you can only do Y.

CUNextTuesday · 05/05/2011 09:49

I'd quite like to work in a little village shop .

fanny i was petrified of cutting out the bottle that got him to sleep but he accepted it without question. In despair, literal despair, i bought a copy of baby whisperer and bit the bullet. Spent two nights up and down, extracting his little hands from the edge of the cot ehilst he hung on for grim death howling. Laid him down every time, repeat 47 times. Then, bingo. Then we moved him into his own room and he was fine. And this was the baby that eas up yelling for food 5, 6 times a night. I thought he'd respond really negatively to the discipline, and like you i was v apprehensive about all the lack of sleep, but what do i know?

Not counting chickens, has only been 3 nights but it's quite a nice feeling to have a block of sleep longer than 3 hours

FannyPriceless · 05/05/2011 09:56

alps Yes I feel the same way. I always had jobs in my uni holidays - several seasons picking fruit, two months doing 12 hour night shifts in a plastic bag factory, etc! But I can picture my business colleagues making cats bums faces if they heard what I'm considering now. Boo sucks to them.

Actually my funniest job was... McDonalds! I quit school after I had secured my uni entrance for the following year as I simply lost motivation. Parents said 'you cannot quit school unless you have a job'. So I spent a day walking down the main street asking for a job - and McD's signed me up on the spot. Parents were mortified, but I had a fab 6 months working shifts while riding my horses full time!

My friend once saw two girls in my school uniform leaving McD's and they said to each other 'Did you see that? She used to be the brainiest girl at school and now she's working at McDonalds!!'

cunty Good on you for having the heart to do that. I have a strong suspicion we are going to have to do the same. Will have to plan it for a suitable time. How many nights of screaming did you have?

PollyPoo · 05/05/2011 09:57

I agree - do it FP. I was working in sainsbo's 3 evenings a week before BB was born and I am due back on 1 Aug. I wouldn't go so far as to say i loved it but I am actually looking forward to going back. I was hoping to finish when I start my degree, but we can't afford it. I will probably be less enamoured with it come September time... Still, during term time I will get to spend one night a week in a B&B in Reading. No children, no husband, no dog. Hoo-rucking-ray!

I reckon a few afternoons a week in the village shop will do wonders for your social life and give you a confidence boost as well Fans. You don't have to do it forever and you can sack it if you get bored/can't be arsed/fancy doing something more challenging. Sorry about the PND, are the tablets not helping? Or was it just a one-off bad day? I forgot to take mine over the weekend and had a shit day on Monday - made me realise how much they help.

I have also done a variety of jobs (accountancy and office stuff, retail, cleaning, chambermaiding, bar work etc) and i have to say the most fun I've had at work was chambermaiding. I quite like the physical aspect of it (I lost loads of weight!) and the chance to shut my brain off.

Smile

In me news I am droided. Bleeding like a stuck pig. Angry I had forgotten was a joy the metal fucker is. Last night I woke about every hour, either to staunch the flow (tmi?!) or to stuff BB's dummy back in. Meh. i am supposed to be packing up the house to move next month but I don't even know where to start. I think hiring a skip might be a good starting point.

FannyPriceless · 05/05/2011 10:19

pollydidapoo Sorry about droid. Mine have become heavier, more hurty, and longer since returning. Nothing will stem the tide. I had a tampon just about fall out of me in a river of nasty droid flow. Hideous.

It was several days building up with the PND dip. It's better today as Bonnie is finally back at nursery so it's like a little change of scene for a day. I have been making a real effort to remember the ADs, and doc has now given me the fancy versison with the week days printed on the pack. But I have started drinking maybe two glasses of wine per night and worry this is what is getting me down. I know this is bad behaviour but hey, I can be honest with you lot.

CUNextTuesday · 05/05/2011 10:21

Two nights fanfare, just two (and one of those was at my mum's so he was a bit unsettled anyway) - and I was working on the assumption, put to me by a random bloke at work, that it would be one night per month of his age, plus or minus 10%.

I just want to reiterate. In no way, shape or form, did I think Rastus would subscribe to this. He was clingy in the evenings. He seemed to guzzle his 7pm bottle of milk like he'd been starved. He would sleep for 3-3.5 hours, drink another 200ml bottle, then wake up every two hours throughout the night. He invariably ended up in bed with me as he was a habitual feed-to-sleeper. I thought he wouldn't be able to a) do without boob comfort, b) cope without seeing mummy and daddy when he woke up, c) put himself back to sleep with any degree of competence, or d) go to sleep without being tanked up. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Interesting, the black circles have now gone from round his eyes (and mine) so he must have been BEGGING for more sleep - I suspect being in our room did not assist him in a restful night, nor did giving him so much grub .

CUNextTuesday · 05/05/2011 10:23

ooo just on your last post, please please don't use wine as a crutch. Sorrows float Sad
