Well, some are here!

novadandypowder · 05/11/2005 13:09

Just a repeat really of what I've put in the ante-natal thread - the baby whisperer is great!

Also feeling quite chipper as DH did the night shift so I got 8 hours sleep last night. DH is also better than me at putting Nat down in her basket and not letting her sleep in the bed - naughty mummy!

Got some first books for Nat yesterday, with the black and white pictures on them, and as far as we can make out she really likes them.

Londoner · 05/11/2005 22:38

Hi girls!

..................phew, we made it to the other side..............yay!
How do I post a pic on that web page now? Can you remember or is it a case of trawling back thru the posts for orig instructions?
nova, have seen baby w on tv b4 and thought she was gr8 too, glad 2 hear her book is working well 4 u. My gr8 tip 4 getting baby to sleep in own bed is a good 'swaddle' in a cotton celular blanket, also to put them down when they're still awake but not wanting anything & stroke their head & whisper goodnight sleep well etc. Worth a try?

Londoner · 05/11/2005 22:49

Oh and..............

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOVA ! *

novadandypowder · 05/11/2005 23:15

Thanks Londoner - good to see you here

We started off swaddling her but she seems to get very hot and sweaty so I've got a kimono style sleeping bag thing that she can't kick off to tide her over until she's big enough for a sleeping bag. We're just very guilty of getting her into the bad habit of falling asleep on us, which we're now trying to break. I haven't quite finished the book yet, but a lot of what she says makes sense, and she seems to have got herself into a rough 4 hourly routine anyway, so it shouldn't take too long to get her into the EASY programme.

How is life with your little one going?

BEKsmum · 06/11/2005 02:50

Hi ya girls, Belated happy b'day Nova, hope tou had a great night out.

Well done Londoner, how are you doing?

I've just been catching up on the thread & was interested to see what you were all saying about sleeping, as you can tell by the time of this post I'm having a bit of a problem with this myself tonight Thomas appears to think I'm a good dummy & wants to go to sleep attached to me at night but will just drop off in my arms or in his basket during the day. All very odd!

Rodeo well done for keeping the baby list Thomas weighed 7lb 13oz should say and a half but don't know how to type that!

Right best go & change the little monkey as he has filled yet another nappy two minutes after being changed & he has finally fallen asleep in my arms so a quick change is required.

Will try to log on more often next week once dh has gone back to work, that is if he doesn't need some time off sick as he has thrown his back out! So now I'm looking after him rather than the other way round - god help me in a house full of men - I truely am outnumbered!!! Beks

rodeo1 · 06/11/2005 21:08

Yippee Nova, we're not the 2 solitary members anymore! Good job we've not turned cliquey!

A very warm welcome to our dear Beks and lovely Londoner!

Just a quicky as Lost has started, see you tomorrow

Hope you had a lovely b'day Nova! I'm sure you did! How did you cope being babyless for the evening? I bet you felt you'd a part missing? Or that constant feeling you'd forgotton something!

Evening girls, dh has put together some photos of Thomas' birth and a couple of his big brother. Needless to say I'm the one in the bed!!!

Hope you are all ok, glad to see that the post natal thread is growing, I'm just hoping to get to post at sensible times rather than 3am in future!!!

Beks

Photos here .

rodeo1 · 07/11/2005 10:06

Aw Beks, they're all lovely! The boys are such cuties and you all look so happy! Thank you for putting some up!

OK night, she was unsettled last night and was using me as a big dummy and not feeding so gave her to dp to settle (They are better at it aren't they?) and I went to bed about 11. He brought her up at half 2 for me to feed ad she went straightdown after that up again at 5.30 and 8. Still feel tired though, not showered and still in pyjama's! Right off to have some brekkie before she wakes again....

OP posts:
BEKsmum · 07/11/2005 10:29

Morning, glad to hear I'm no the only one being used as a human dummy, thomas is a monkey for it and I to have to give him to dh to settle at night just so we can get him back in the basket.

Looks like Tessasmum will be the next to join us on here as she has posted to say that her waters hve broken and the contractions have started.

Feeling pretty tired today, as Thomas woke at 11pm, 3am & 6am this morning and didn't go back down before Ben got up for pre-school. Have left dh down stairs watching one of the Lord of the Rings films and I'm about to get Thomas washed and dressed in the hope of rousing him for a feed to a) move his body clock round a bit & b) help get rid of the jaundice.

Speak to you later Beks

novadandypowder · 07/11/2005 11:31

yay to more babies!

Think I'm the only first time mum still out of all those that have popped?

It actually felt quite good going out with just DH, I've been really missing spending time with just the two of us, especially now we're sleeping in separate rooms while we try to settle Natalie.

The settling seems to be taking some kind of effect - I haven't finished the book yet and MIL is here so will have to start properly next week - but she's slept in her basket for the last three nights without needing to fall asleep on us. Last night I put her down at 10 she slept until 1.30 when I did a 'dreamfeed' so she went straight back down again until 5. I tried to settle her back down again to make her last a bit longer but she was awake 5-6. She slept 6-6.30 then I did another feed while she was still dozy and she slept until 9 when I woke her up for a bit of a cuddle (naughty mummy). So thats 11 hours with only 2 feeds - result!

She does have scream time though, yesterday it was 2.30 - 3.30pm (during lunch, typical) and 7-8pm, so we've just got to work on that.

MIL is here for the week so I've got some time to try and sort out family allowance - anyone else got round to it yet?

rodeo1 · 07/11/2005 14:19

Well done Nova, the book seems to be paying off already! (Well, that combined with your fab mothering skills of course!)

Not got round to sorting family allowance, only just got an appt to get her registered for Weds. My organisational skills hve departed for the time being - sending the last few birth announcement cards out later!

Laundry is still mammoth too, if it's not a huge mound of dirty washing, it's huge wet mounds waiting to be dried or piles waiting on the bed to be put away. I'm trying to get out of the habit of slinging things in the wash after half a day's wearing (not underwear mind!) Or chucking towels in after 1 use!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 07/11/2005 14:46

you can do child benefit online , all you need to do is post the birth certificate to a freepost address, so thats one more job to strike off the list!

taking nat to DH's office this afternoon as all his work buddies want to see her - hope she behaves

Ahhhh, so this is where you all are nowadays!

Well, finding being a Mum second time round in just over a year ok actually.
Went to bed at 11 last night, and he woke at 2.30am, 5am then at 8.15am, so not too bad for a 6 day old
Euan is being remarkably quiet and contented so far....but is this the calm before the storm I ask myself?!

Agree ladies with the bleeding issue. It keeps looking as though it's gonig to stop, then suddenly it's like day 1 all over again. I didn't sign up for stocks and shares in 'Always'!

So, is someone else going to have a bigger baby than me or what?

Have a good night everyone, and sleep well all those babies out there!

xx

Yes we're here, Hammy!! Glad you've joined us

Jess was awake, not wanting to be put down, from 3 til 6 this morning, had dp take over at 5, I was so tired! Needless to say she's slept all morning. Have made a few futile attempt to wake her (she woke momentarily for a bath) oh, what to do!? Just hope for a better night tonight is all I can do I think!

Thank's for the child benefit tip Nova, did you have another good night? I hope she got a well deserved coo over at the office yesterday

Think I've stopped bleeding now - 3 and a half weeks later. Hurray!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 08/11/2005 11:23

She got cooed over a great deal Rodeo - I don't want DH to blame me if all of his office staff start wanting maternity leave!! She started to get a bit grumbly after about half an hour so we made a sharp exit.

My bleeding seems to have stopped as well have booked in for a lady garden wax on friday .

Well, the evening started off ok, she went down at 10, had a feed at 1.15, went down again, but she started grumbling at 4. Left her til 4.30, but I could smell that she had a dirty nappy so knew she wouldn't go back to sleep easily. Made her hold out til 6 (evil mummy) when I changed her and fed her and then she was WIDE AWAKE. Instead of getting up evil mummy used every trick in the book to make her go back to sleep, so she went back down from 7-8.45, when I brought her into bed for a good morning cuddle until 9.30.

MIL is looking after her now, and I just had a glorious hot soak in the bath.

Taking her to Gymboree class tomorrow, think she will either just scream or sleep through it, but its a free taster session so we've got nothing to lose!

alfiesmum · 09/11/2005 10:00

Morning, at last I have found five minutes to log on! Thank you for adding me to the list rodeo, Oscar was actually 8lb 141/2ozs I have been telling everyone 9lbs as it was easier!

I know what you mean about the bleeding, I told the midwife two days ago that the bleeding had almost stopped only to be greeted with a huge flood!

I feel like i'm constantly on the go - feeding, washing etc! Oscar is permanantly atatched to my boob so I can get nothing done!
He is now asleep in his moses basket for the first time! hurray! I haven't been able to get him to sleep at night anywhere other than laying next to me in bed. He has been in there since 6.30 this morning so has given me my first lay in (well until alfie got up at 8.30).

All your baby pictures are lovely, I will have to try and work out how to put pictures on, I haven't got a clue but dh might know.

Jess x

BEKsmum · 09/11/2005 13:28

Afternoon girls, I'm with you Alfiesmum on the bleeding, what a nightmare, just thought it had gone and now it's back - oh the joys.

Meant to say I love the name Oscar, it was one of the names we were considering too!

Ben thought it was hilarious yesterday when I sat down to play trains with him and he managed to find both his Thomas and ben trains, litle things amuse I suppose!

Nova, are you mad woman, a lady garden wax after what you've just put it through, I'm still having too much trouble with my stitches to even think of someone doing that to it too

Right best go as Thomas is yelling and the HV is due any minute, catch up with you later BEKs

rodeo1 · 09/11/2005 17:05

Well yet another splurge of the red stuff, that's 1 whole month!! I'm getting obsessed!

Finally got her registered today! She's officially Jessie Mathilda Mary Owen. Maybe a bit much but we couldn't decide which middle name to omit so she's got both. Only decided in the car on the way to registry office!

Had good night last night. Went to bed at 10, dp gave her a feed at half 11 and then she didn't wake me up til 4.30! Then she was in our bed unyil we got up at 7.30. Feel loads better for it today.

Wonder if it's to do with the fact dp's giving her SMA now? Cannot be ar*ed with expressing every evening so have bought some of the little cartons. Which milk do you use Nova? Is there much difference between them?

Then went into town for to spend some vouchers from Jess birth (got her some of the 'little me' stuff from Boots, the pink variety, smells yummy) and I spent some money at the Clinique counter (my friend works there so got a bumper pack of freboies too, yay!)

And she had her first poo explosion while out!

Right must make a start on tea....

Just think mof all the weight your shifting while you're on the go though Alfiesmum! People keep commenting that I've lost weight, can't tell myself, think they're just remembering my pregnant state though! Haven't got a scales though so can't quantify it, hmmm... may go on MIL's later

OP posts:
ChaCha · 09/11/2005 22:02

How could you all have left me on the November thread, huh?
I miss you guys..It's just not the same!

I just had a read through all your posts, it's great, you are all so active and doing so well. I do hope it's the same scenario here.

Well, I hope it won't be long until I join you, at least I can be assured that there will be lots of advice on here..

Love and Hugs to you all xxxxx

novadandypowder · 09/11/2005 22:20

Beksmum - my lady garden was back to normal after about a week, it was just the bleeding that was stopping me from getting the waxing done. Even been back on the BDing, for some reason I was gagging for it . Need to be a bit careful now the bleeding has stopped as I don't want to use any hormonal contraception yet, as we're hoping to try for another baby in about 6 months (yes, I am officially crazy).

Rodeo - we use SMA gold. It was recommended by one of the midwives (even though they're not supposed to have a preference). I use the ready mixed cartons as well as I'm a lazy bugger, and they're much more convenient when you're out and about - saves faffing with bottles warmers etc..

Took Natalie to Gymboree class today! She was the youngest by far but the session went well so we've signed up for a 12 week package. It'll be 45 mins on a friday of singing and activity, she was so well behaved today, I was a very proud mummy.

hamster · 09/11/2005 22:28

Hello ladies,
It seems as though you are all really busy in baby world and not finding much time to come on here......which is good!

I have left DP with Euan asleep on his front, watching the Bourne Identity, so have a quiet 5 minutes to log on!

Glad to see evryone is doing well, Chacha , we haven't left you! We're just waiting! You'll be with us shortly ......mind you it's a little more sleep deprived this side! lol

I have just polished off my first bottle of wine in 10 months! Not drunk though, honest . Glad DP has offered to do the night feeds.(He owes me as I've not woken him for 4 nights!)

Seriously though, who agrees-IT's just soooo wonderful to be "un-pregnant"?!

Catch you all in a day or two.
xx

novadandypowder · 10/11/2005 11:44

Yay to being un-pregnant, but boo to babies that are either sleeping or screaming! Think I may have a colicky one on my hands. Taking her to the HV drop in session today so they may be able to offer some advice.

twinkle1 · 10/11/2005 14:27
