Sad carrie. Whatever you do don't get too active and start that baby coming just yet! Are you parents on hols for a week or two?

Becaroooo · 30/06/2011 16:50

Oh good grief carrie poor dh and poor you

Meeting with ds1's school went well - feel much more positive Smile On the other hand, looks like our move has fallen through Sad We have had the survery results and its not great...lots of work needs doing and there are even issues with the electrics.

sigh.

We have a no chain cash buyer who is expecting to move in here 4 weeks tomorrow!!!!!! Help!!!

I need advice - fast!

I would quite happliy rent for a few months but dh is dead against it. There are other houses in the village we can look at but pleasing dh is very hard. Would renting for 3-6 months be so awful????

help!!!

Debs75 · 01/07/2011 13:47

Oh Carrie your poor dh. I hope the op goes smoothly and he isn't laid up for too long.

Bec that is a pain. Can you not go ahead with the sale or is the amount of work too much to do?
Or could your buyer hold on for a little while?
If you have to rent it will just be a bit faffy. My advice is put as much as you can into storage. there is nothing worse then having a pile of boxes you have no room for. If you don't mind having a small space you can save on cost and just get a 2 bed place for a while. i hope you can sort it out soon

Becaroooo · 01/07/2011 15:26

debs Tbh I have totally lost heart in the house and so has dh Sad

We are looking at houses this weekend - may have to move in with PILs!!!!!!!! til we can get a sale Shock

notcitrus · 03/07/2011 09:43

Aw Carrie... it'll be fine. Piles of baby clothes never hurt anyone (my dining room is full of piles of clothes as we don't have a chest of drawers large enough for all the clothes...) Hope DH feels better soon.

Good luck with the sale Becaroo - it'll be a pain packing up stuff but gives you more time to sort out all the junk everyone wishes they'd got rid of when they move. [eternal optimist]

I'm hiding from the Feb 2012 thread as it's just full of people having miscarriages or telling about other people's, and I'm enough of an anxious wreck as is (huge family history of mc and bad-news scans)- don't know how I'm going to last another 5 weeks until a scan. Don't even know what symptoms to look for or worry about - been itching all over for two nights. Gah. I thought last time round not knowing I was pregnant until the second trimester was the best way to do things, and now I'm convinced. Gah.

Becaroooo · 03/07/2011 10:59

NC oh, I hated the wait for the scans too.....horrid Sad

We may have found another house! Deciding whether to put an offer on today Smile

Debs75 · 04/07/2011 08:50

So we are off to a party on Saturday with the kids and I'm not sure if I should have Robyn in her knickers or go back to a nappy. She is doing pretty well in knickers but does need reminding quite a bit. But if we put a nappy on her she tries to take it off. She will have a nappy on for the journey as it is quite far away. The other thing is there will be only 1 toilet open, she prefers her potty anyway but I don't want her going in the middle of the room in front of strangers. WWYD?

She had her first riding lesson yesterday. It was only a walk around the yard for 20 mins or so but she loved it. We watched dd1 have her lesson and she kept telling everyone that she was going to 'ride a little one' soon. Then she spied the pony she was going to ride so for 30 mins it was non-stop 'can I ride that little one?'
On the way home she fell asleep from all the excitement and she talked about it non-stop all day.

eandz · 04/07/2011 08:57

NC

I know it's hard waiting for the scans. I know how you feel.

Bec
yay! new house!!!

So we did the neon night walk for whizz kidz on Friday night, and then Saturday we went to my sister in laws graduation at Cambridge. I've never had such a pleasant day with them before.

My only gripe is that they are all quite short, so in pictures the focus is always around the majority of all of their faces which also happens to be where all my problem bits are. So whenever I get a copy of pictures, it's always a neat row of my tiny in laws and my weirdly shaped body. Sometimes they even get my double chin but never my entire face.

It's not really a big deal though.

Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 11:03

People, come talk to me about the pros of renting - looks like thats what we're looking at Sad

eandz · 04/07/2011 11:13

I really like renting.

  1. You're not stuck with owning the darn thing
  2. If something breaks/needs updating it's not your problem and it doesn't come out of your pocket (unless it's your fault).
  3. It's a great way of saving money

I feel this way

Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 11:19

Thanks eandz interesting link too x

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/07/2011 11:34

Many congratulations NC, that's lovely news!

Sorry to hear about your dh Carrie. Is he back at home now? Hopefully everything will be done and dusted before the lo arrives.

As always, chaos reigns in our house! M is mostly a delight still, only flashes of a temper and still no real tantrums - which probably means we will cop it when he is a teenager! Ike is now 9 weeks old and he and the whole house are now getting into some sort of routine and order.

I haven't had the time to read the whole thread, why are you so worried about renting Bec? Is it short term while you are beween houses?

OP posts:
Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 11:42

Its not me ILTMIMI Its dh. I think it could be a good move for us, esp at the moment with the way the economy is! dh thinks its "dead money" I dont want to rush buying somewhere and regret it like we have here Sad Would be looking at a 6 months lease initially.

Wow, Ike is 9 weeks already????? M sounds lovely Smile

Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 11:44

oh! My dbro has just rung - SIL has just had her 20 week scan and its a girl!!!!!!

First one in our family!!!!! Am so excited! I can buy pretty things!.....and dolls!.....and teddys, not lego, tractors, power rangers and bloody ben 10 Grin

eandz · 04/07/2011 12:05

congratulations Becaroooo on the girly addition to the family :)!

Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 13:04

Smile Am v excited. My DM will be delighted after 4 grandsons!

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/07/2011 13:21

Hi all, sorry for posting dramatic message then disappearing!
Having broken his arm on wed night, he was in a cast up to his shoulder and was supposed to have an op on Thurs to take out the old metal plate from the wrist fracture and put in a new plate covering both breaks. The consultant looked at his notes and decided it was more complicated than first thought so he wanted to operate himeself, which is both bad and good! So op wasn't til Friday morning (poor DH being in pain for a whole extra day :( ) but it went so well they let him out that night! He's not had to take pain killers since, and we all managed to go to the wedding we'd been looking forward to on saturday! He's working from home for the next few days as he can't cycle to work, and he can always rest at home or have his arm up in the special support they've given him which hangs off a chair.
Our friends are being amazing - one came round at 9am yesterday to mow the lawn, and another came round today to put all the newly organised baby clothes back into the loft, as neither of us is capable of lifting.

I have four friends due babies in the next week or so, first one was born this morning and it was 'a beautiful water birth'. I'm getting quite excited about mine now...6 weeks and counting...!

bec renting for 6 months while the market refreshes is a good idea and money well spent IMHO. When we moved we knew we'd be extending so divided all our possessions into 'need' and 'store' so we only lived with a fraction of our stuff for the first year and then unpacked the storage stuff after the extension was finished, I quite liked the more minimalist living tbh!

NC I totally understand the frustration. I knew I was pg at 3 weeks and didn't have a scan til 15 weeks, it was the biggest drag of all time.

debs if she's keen I'd take the potty with you but insist its used outside or in an appropriate place.

DS has taken himself for two wees this morning, although one of them was instigated by DD going for a wee and him thinking 'I want a sweetie!' so I wonder if we're moving back towards trying pants again. Would be nice to have all the washable nappies freed up for the baby.

Becaroooo · 04/07/2011 17:30

Good news carrie

Yes. I think renting is our best option...its not forever! and we will be in a very good position re: buying when we find something....

Have stressed myself into a migraine Sad

DebiTheScot · 05/07/2011 13:45

bookmarking.

Debs75 · 06/07/2011 12:27

Argh my tumble dryer has broken. It smells like it is burning out so I have wet clothes everywhere and rain in the skyAngry

Had to put Robyn in nappies today as she has been pooing in her knickers and didn't want her to have a bad day at nursery. Not sure if it was the best thing to do.

eandz · 06/07/2011 13:27

Debs75
it'll be okay, i'm sure :) And I'm sorry your dryer has broken. :( I'm also sad about this rainy weather. booo hoo!

Becaroooo · 06/07/2011 16:36

For the love of God, if people put their house on the market, can I assume they actually want to sell the bloody thing??? Can I also assume that an offer from a couple with no chain and mortgage agreed would be a fucking good one???

Well, apparently not.

Stupid fuckwit bastard twatpants of an EA has just informed me that the house we went to see at weekend and put an offer in near asking price now cant sell as they cant find the finance to move. Pissflaps!!!

Also, the house we liked the look of to rent has just been let - only found out when I checked on rightmove - no one told me and seeing as we were supposed to be viewing it on saturday I am pretty pissed off about that too!

Only 1 other house for rent in the village - 3 bed detached but not very big. Other one would have been perfect size wise.

PILs have offered us to stay there but, AIBU to think I it would be so stressful I would end up killing them all during the night and run off to Brazil with the dc after about 2 weeks??

If we stay I will be so unhappy and we will lose a no chain cash buyer Sad

Someone please slap me round the face and tell me to calm down Sad

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 06/07/2011 23:04

Oh becs I'm so sorry. I remember how stressful house buying is! Try to stay calm - it WILL work out in the end.

Carrie hope your DH is ok and you are both coping.

Debs no advice about nappies but if she doesn't hate them, she'll be ok eventually (C hates nappies with a passion now)

Holiday was fab (got back sunday) if tiring. We've all just about got over jetlag. C was fab - slept all the way home but was a nightmare to get to bed that night!

Had 20wk scan today - all looking good. Anterior placenta again, so explains the lack of kicks.

Help ladies - can anyone recommend a decent bath toy tidy that works?! My 91 year old grandma is coming to stay and the bathroom looking like a child's soft play centre!!

DebiTheScot · 07/07/2011 13:33

Oh no poor you bec. It sounds like the selling bit should be quite stressfree so I think you should sell and rent or stay with the inlaws until you find something to buy. I really don't know why people put their houses on the market without checking their finances first.

Hope dh is on the mend Carrie. He's a numpty! Do you think it would have broken this time if it hadn't been broken so recently?

Good news on the scan MrsA, did you find out what it was and are keeoing it secret or do you not know?
We just have one of the net things with the suckers and a box in a cupboard for the toys.

CappuccinoCarrie · 07/07/2011 13:57

debi the consultant said his bones are fine (MIL was giving me an ear bashing about brittle bones) he just needs to learn to fall more effectively! The reason the break is where it is is because its at the bottom of the metal plate he had put in last summer, so it broke at the first available point. Can't believe that having given up on tying my own shoe laces a while back, I'm now having to tie his!

Three friends have had babies in the last three days, I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited that its nearly my turn!

bec so :( its all going belly up (some brilliant insults there btw that I must store up for future use Grin).
