Sorry about the crap title ladies, I was lacking inspiration and we were up to our limit on posts!

OP posts:

Stratford upon Avon is quite middle-ish too! Though I think we would want somewhere that has really good train and motorway connections from lots of directions. Or we do different meets for north, south and middle?

If we met in September it would be bound to be somebody's birthday! Not that we would need an excuse to have cake. And I can bring some nice ham. (I would bring grapes but they have all gone...Grin)

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/05/2011 17:41

Leeds or York are great! Baby due in August so September would have to be really local to me, but Leeds or York (obv) are both fine :) DD starts school in Sept so my life is suddenly going to be restricted by the school run and school holidays
My kids still love those pouches too ('snorky pouches' are their official term Grin), but rather than the baby ones we now get the four-in-a-box cow and gate/fruitapura ones - 4 for about £1.60.
I always try to remember to take snacks to the supermarket - a tupperware box of raisins/breadsticks, so they have something to eat, but not something I haven't paid for, and since it comes out of a plastic box its obvious that we've previously paid for it (I hope...!)

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/05/2011 18:03

pacita I'm afraid my experience of lawns is mostly bad...we had ours turfed at the end of October, so it spent the next few months under snow/water and has really suffered, its terribly uneven and has huge bald patches. The first mow should be one with the mower set to quite a high setting I believe. And don't water in the heat of the day as you'll scorch it.

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/05/2011 18:19

fanny I can't wait for the 'nice ham' sandwiches Grin
Loving the idea of a birthday meet up for our LOs.
debs you could come to York any time you like! MrsA is your work bringing you to this neck of the woods again any time soon....? Not that you'd have your DD with you then of course :(

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/05/2011 18:26

While I'm hogging the board, thought I'd share two quotes from DD (4).

"when the baby is born we'll see if it has long hair or short hair then we'll know if its a boy or a girl" Cue much smirking when I told her how we'll really know!

(while looking down at her midrif) "I know I have Jesus in my heart and food in my tummy...but what else is in there?"

Bless her, not quite the biologist that I am!

ninja · 09/05/2011 18:33

I know I have Jesus in my heart and food in my tummy...but what else is in there?" Grin Grin

Becaroooo · 09/05/2011 18:46

carrie What a classic!

Well, I'm up for either meet up....north or south!!! Grin

I live pretty much in the middle so its much of a muchness to me....

Lollyheart · 09/05/2011 19:51

Oh me me, I am up for a meet up, but am due in sept so might not be a good time for me Sad

So it's the first night f has no nappy on for bed, well actully for ds1 aswell, f has been dry for the last week or so, but ds1 has never had a dry night but really didn't want one on.

Becaroooo · 09/05/2011 19:58

DebiTheScot · 09/05/2011 22:26

I'd be happy to host a South meet up too if people didn't want to go into London and the Londoners don't mind coming out. I live 2 mins walk from a station that's on the Waterloo to Southampton line.

I wish there was a way we could all get together. Let's try & organise something for before Sept, that's ages away!
Ooo wonder if we could invite ourselves to Hopefully's wedding Grin

Lollyheart · 10/05/2011 10:42

That's sounds great [debi] I'm happy to help.

What sort of place was everyone thinking of meeting up in?
Maybe a hall with a garden? So the dcs can run around and us ladies can drink tea and eat cake Grin

Lollyheart · 10/05/2011 10:43

debi

ninja · 10/05/2011 13:20

OK - who has a huge house and garden for us to lounge around in? No stately homes......

Still trying to avoid coursework marking

Debs75 · 10/05/2011 15:03

I'll settle for a decent play park with a nice Cafe. But then it would have to be a weekday so we aren't overrun with schoolkids.
We went to our local one today and it was bliss. Loads of sun and things to do and then Robyn got scared by the resident peacocks, she chased a chicken so all was forgotten

Meglet · 10/05/2011 21:16

bookmarking to see what you're all organising.

Meglet · 10/05/2011 21:34

debi we could come to yours.

I can only really get to London with one child if I want it to be civilised. Me and DS are off to the british museum next week.

mrsA good to hear you are going well.

DebiTheScot · 10/05/2011 21:50

I have a reasonably big garden (with a very suspect lawn) and lots of garden toys and a patio. Happy to host.
The nightmare is going to be getting a day we can all do. I don't work Mondays and Tuesdays.

I'm taking the children on the train to Scotland without dh for half term, eek!

notcitrus · 11/05/2011 09:12

I'd be up for a London meet and can be pretty flexible with a few weeks notice.

Finally got a new work placement sorted out, so I'm much happier. And now doing 4 days a week, though thanks to holidays etc I'm yet to have a 4-day week! :)

Embarked on potty training yesterday, as nursery were convinced he was ready and A was excited about his new comfy potty and Thomas pants. Except he doesn't see why he can't wear nappies and just play with pants and the potty. Apparently it was a bit of a disaster. Will see how he is today but might just get him to sit on it at home lots and not bother with pants until a few weeks time when dn can rolemodel.

eandz · 11/05/2011 11:35

i'm coming too! (is that okay?)

Debs75 · 11/05/2011 13:35

I'm up for a travel, where abouts are you Debi?

DebiTheScot · 11/05/2011 14:15

This is getting exciting! So shall we go for it at mine then? Are all you Londoners happy to venture out? I'm in Farnborough.
Bit of a trek for you Debs I think but you're v welcome. Carrie do you have any London trips planned soon? Not sure what we'd do if there was loads of us and it rains but my dining room is quite big.

I'm guessing a week day is best as I'm guessing those of us with other halfs might get some Hmm faces if we asked them to come too Grin. Mondays and Tuesdays are good for me.
Or we do it in the summer holidays when any day would be fine for me but that might be harder to plan with people's holidays.
Disadvantage of term time- those with older children would need to get home to collect them and if you have to travel that might limit your time a lot.
Advantage- it might be easier to only have to bring 1 (or 2 if you have a baby or a preschooler too) child with you. People are less likely to be away.
Disadvantage of schl holidays- planning round holidays could be hard. You'd have to bring older children (ad or disad?)
Advantage of schl holidays- you'd have more time if you're not fitting it round school run. You'd have to bring older children (ad or disad?)

Becaroooo · 11/05/2011 14:18

I'm in!!!! Grin

Are we voting?

If so I vote for school hols. Any day is ok for me, really.

I would bring ds1 (he will be 8 in june) I think he may be the eldest sibling here???? He is great with little ones and loves playing with them Smile

Becaroooo · 11/05/2011 14:23

..ok...I am going to admit it...I thought Farnborough was in Yorkshire! Blush

Lollyheart · 11/05/2011 14:51

Lol at bec Grin does that mean you can't come after all? I'm not sure where you are.

I'm happy any day really as I'm only 20mins away, I don't mind term term or holidays cause I can always get a sitter for the older ones.

eandz · 11/05/2011 15:23

I wouldn't mind coming, but can I bring my little sister? She's 19, she's kinda like my comfort blanket+ I think some of you may have already met her when we all met up while we were pregnant.

If anyone wants to do London we could always do it at the Zoo/regents park/V&A museum or any museum in London. Sadly my flat is teeny tiny, but anyone/everyone on this thread is always welcome to use it for a meet up. Hang out.
