Or maybe piddling whilst giggling is just me? Blush
It's so sunny here I feel Spring has sprung - where's that daffodil emoticon gone? Had a friend round this morning for a natter and cake - muchos snot and tears but all good. Think I might go for a little bike ride now to blow the cobwebs away.
And no vag - not a chance!

Lovely lovely friends on here. Thanks so so much for kind words of advice. Mr Pubes and Vag are stars - as is Mrs Pubes for asking and getting such a quick response. I have no idea how I did it. Just started hurting while I was lying on the sofa last night. Maybe my dancing on Saturday night - I don't do an awful lot of dancing!!!

Thank you thank you.

xx

Rubena · 17/05/2011 09:37

Right - am back briefly as DS has taken the bike outside. and dd watching show me show me

Last night - aaaaargggggghhh! Right so she woke at 1030 for that feed but didn't have a full one. Nothing until 3am then started a light grisel / cry. I left her a bit until it got louder, and louder and LOUDER and I paniced ds would wake. Offered her water which she seemed to go for but kept looking around for something Hmm had about an ounce of water then went to sleep (I'm laying in bed thinking great no I have to wake to give her water) But no, 30 mins later more of the same off and on, but I left her another half hour until it got louder again then dh woke and said "whats wrong with dd" Hmm I said "controlled water only experiment" he said oh ok and went back to sleep. DD didn't so I gave in. She necked 5 ounces of milk like she'd never been fed, was wide awake and started giggling and bouncing up and down. She was happy as pigs in shit. I left the room and never heard a sound from her until 830am Confused
Success with the blackout blinds for ds.... 0745 wake up. result there, but I really want DD to go back to that magical week of 11pm-7am!!!!!

Rubena · 17/05/2011 09:38

No probs Beans (aka Alfresco pooer)

Beans33 · 17/05/2011 09:39

Oh crikes, how difficult - sorry for my bossing, Rubes! How difficult for you. She's obviously a hungry little thing! Despite a full day's manging (that's pronounced french way - sounds better said than written!). Little minx!

Ibuprofen has kicked in thank the lord! Will buy more this afternoon!

Beans33 · 17/05/2011 09:40

Ooh on poo front - my friend I used to work with used to go for a poo in the loos and while doing the poo she would take off all her clothes, because she found it more enjoyable! Hahahah!

LadyThompson · 17/05/2011 09:49

Love the disclaimer Grin

Nah, Vag, but I like the sound of your suggested outfit Grin Maybe I will get some electric blue spandex stuff, with legwarmers, to go with the 80s vibe. The PJ bottoms are actually lace trimmed shorts that I bought as part of a set to wear after I had DD1 Hmm I do wonder what goes through my mind sometimes. I couldn't have got my WRIST into them after I had DD1. Anyway, I don't think it's good that it's still swollen. Do keep an eye on it.

I am amazed at this array of kamikaze poo stories. Arti, that is such a shame you had to ditch the agent with the juiciest properties in town Grin I only have one such story, from when I was about 8. I was on a school trip and gripped by a dreadful urge, in an adventure playground on a country estate, a long walk from any facilities. With a stroke of brilliance, I ran to the centre of an adjacent maze, which I had solved about an hour before, and did the business. I heard some shouting above me midway through, glanced up and noticed some cable cars making their leisurely way across the sky, some distance above me Hmm I don't think it was the aerial view they were expecting.

Effie, I hope the plumber solves your problem today. No hot water is the PITS.

And I hope you feel better, Beans. How did you do it? Pooing on a high wire, or something?

vagolaJahooli · 17/05/2011 09:52

Beans, seriously? I'm really not sure about that, at work she took all her clothes off? I don't think I'd have time, I barely get my undies down in time.

LadyThompson · 17/05/2011 09:53

X-posted with tons. Rubes, DD2 has a late solids supper quite late, before milk. If your DD doesn't want to stock up on milk before she goes to bed, have you tried giving her some goo? (Mind you, my DD2 is a little piglet, obviously).

Beans33 · 17/05/2011 09:57

Hee hee Lady - dirty bird!

My parents were once looking round a beautiful church and Dad had an urge (wonder where I get it!). He had to race off and do one behind a gravestone. Luckily no one there at the time. He suddenly realised he had no hanky with him, so asked Mum to find something in the church. She raced off to the church and grabbed a leaflet. Unfortunately on the way back, she stepped in a hole and broke her leg. Dad is convinced it's divine intervention!!! And Dad was also caught short on the golf course once and was wiping with his hanky when he noticed it had his friend's name tape on it, who was also a member of the golf club. He thought that if it was found, it didn't matter as it wasn't him who'd get the blame, so left the hanky on top of the poo! Hee hee hee!

LadyThompson · 17/05/2011 10:01

Blimey Beans! Did your Dad have to go after her or was he left waiting and wondering? And did the golf pal get the blame?? Right, MUST do stuff...

vagolaJahooli · 17/05/2011 10:01

She is obviously hungry, I think trying the later snack suggested by Lady might help. Otherwise might just have to go with it. I remember DS2 swayed between sleeping through & waking occasionally for a feed for ages. Eventually we went for the porridge before bed thing but that wasn't until he was about 13months. It must be a growth spurt because you said she has been having an ounce only in the night at most and now suddenly 5 ounces! You also said you filled her up on solids yesterday...was that yesterday???

vagolaJahooli · 17/05/2011 10:04

Haha I was thinking that lady, was he just squatted there waiting for her to come back.

Beans33 · 17/05/2011 10:06

I think she crawled towards him calling out and he had to have a sticky bottom when he went to help her!!! Grim. Right, off to Fruity Tunes!! xx

LadyThompson · 17/05/2011 10:07

It's like something off One Foot in the Grave!

vagolaJahooli · 17/05/2011 10:13

Or a horror story, you walking through a graveyard and you see a women crawling out of hole in the ground and then a man emerge from behind a gravestone!

vagolaJahooli · 17/05/2011 10:14

That's should have been 'imagine your walking through a graveyard....'

Rubena · 17/05/2011 10:17

Vag - yes that's exactly right - it was yesterday she had a full meal at b'fast and lunch then TWO at dinner and half a yogurt. She has never eaten that much in the day which is why I used to think I knew the reason she didn't sleep through, so I was convinced she would last night after all that! She has eaten a decent b'fast today and just had her mid morning milk so going for a nap.
Lady what time do you give dd2 a snack? and what does it consist of? Oh your 8 year old story is funny!!
When I was young I use to sleep walk. My parents had a dinner party and when I was about 8 I came out of my room stood right in front of the telly (where they were all sitting after dinner) pulled my pants down and pissed on the carpet. Mum tried to get me up but I yelled stop it I'm doing a wee!
I also had a pee behind St Pauls Cathederal with ds (about 8 weeks old) in the Bjorn one evening (but obviously and unfortunately I wasn't 8!!)

Beans, these stories get funnier and funnier - how many more do you have!!!! But your friend taking the clothes off? That's just odd!!

Pooing on a high wire PMSL!! Grin

SummerLightning · 17/05/2011 11:35

Hello!
Sorry for extended absense, just been too busy with going away over long weekends and all the way to Scotland this weekend just gone for wedding. Back now though DH gone to Japan for 2 weeks and parents coming up to visit.
DS at nursery today so hopefully got a chance to catch up.

Loving the poo stories, I too get sudden urges to go. DH finds it hilarious as I think he brews his for ages and knows when they are coming. This seems to be a man thing as they take ages to do them as well? I am convinced it is to get out of doing stuff as he always needs a 10 minute poo when there is something urgent to be done. I don't have any stories as good as beans and arti but I did have a desperate urge when walking in the Lake district once with lots of friends. Unfortunately we were getting near the campsite and it was very open so I couldn't go. When we finally got to the campsite I dropped my enormous rucksack at the edge of the field and ran/hobbled (as you do when you really need a poo) right the way across the field shouting "YESS TOILET", apparentlly was v funny but probably had to be there! I also had a poo when pissed in a pub when about 17, and there was no loo roll, I asked my "friend" to get me some loo roll and she instead went round telling everyone in the pub (half my year were there!) that I was stuck in the toilet having had a poo. The bitch!

beans that is weird re the clothes off thing. Sounds like the sort of thing my DH would do (though he doesn't actually do that, but he likes wandering round with no clothes on)

deirdre how stressful about your DN and your DD, I would be furious at your SIL for not taking it seriously. Are you sure she was not just a bit embarrassed/awkward about it and she will actually take it seriously?

rubes I feel your pain with the sleeping through thing. DD still isn't sleeping through either. BAH. DS was sleeping through at this age, despite hardly eating anything. DD is a piggy pig and still wakes. I am still bf in the night and in the day (she has 2 milk feeds in the evening) so I don't know how much she has in the night but it still seems like a good feed. hmmm, maybe your dd is eating more as she's having a growth spurt, so she still wants milk. That's what seems to happen with DD, she eats more than usual and I get hopeful she'll sleep through, but it doesn't make much difference!

ladyt going back a bit, I am surprised you aren't losing weight eating as little as you do! I am amazed you can stick to it with it not working very fast, I would definitely go and see your endocrinologist(?) for advice. Did you start writing a food diary? I found after having DS that I was eating more calories than I thought nibbling fruit, etc, but it sounds like you already know what you are eating! Oh also running really works for helping weight loss for me (though bad for joints as rubes DH says). Love the trampolining.

Oh beans was it you asking about jumping? DS literally just got it in the last week. Bless him, he is delighted with himself.

On the babying front, DS still a baby, still in a cot (we are leaving him in until after canada trip as he happily will sleep in a travel cot at the mo), no interest in TT, loves milk before bed (from sippy cup), and we only ditched the bottles a few months ago. He's happy though! Not thinking of TT until after Canada trip, 9hr flight with unreliably toilet trained toddler not my idea of fun. I also don't think he's ready yet.

Big hello to trudy! I was going to ask if Trudy was your real name but you answered that. I was also wondering if "Votion" was your last name until I read your name the other day and I thought "D'OH"!!

Oh jam not sure on that seat, sorry, we only have a trailer and a back seat (co pilot), I am interested though as I may get a front seat for DD. Was thinking of the wee ride but that will be too small for L. Vag does the wee ride quick release on and off or does it take a while to fit and have to stay on?

rubes and other flying experts, how does milk work on flights? Can you get it heated? Just starting to think about Canada trip. I really want to give up bf but DH thinks it will be easier if I am still BF when we go to canada. Hmm..yes easier for him, but i will have to do all the get ups in the night with miss jetlag if I am still BF, I also get insomnia and I think it's partly psychological in that i know if dd wakes it HAS to me who goes to her as she will want feeding and so I can't sleep thinking she'll wake soon, I had this with DS and it went as soon as I stopped BF. In reality I imagine it would be mostly be me up with her anyway but it would be nice to have the option for a full nights sleep!

MIL was at family wedding at the weekend. Things much better as she is making massive effort not to bitch about DS's behaviour. Thing is, she bitches about EVERYTHING, but DH takes it really really personally when she is rude about DS, and I get really pissed off watching him get upset by it. When she bitches about other things I just find it mildly irritating. She even bitched about the wedding, eg the food etc, which I think is the height of rudeness.

Oh DD is crawling. Cheeky girl. DS has renewed his offensive on her and is constantly squashing and annoying her now she can interfere with his train sets.

Right gotta go!

TrudyVotion · 17/05/2011 12:27

Thanks Summer. I don't have much interesting to add and sadly no hilarious poo stories, but I do always check for loo roll wherever I am before I start! That is my ultimate nightmare. I know I shouldn't laugh but I did find the whole gravestone poo/broken leg thing quite funny Grin

I did something a bit brave this morning - I went to the doc about my mood swings and general inability to enjoy life atm. My mother's had severe depression twice in the last four years so I thought I'd see about getting some help before things start to get bad. I'd never had any mental health problems until I had anxiety attacks when DS was newborn and I found it really really scary. To my utter shock the doctor (I'd asked when I made the appt for one who specialised in mental health and she's great, have really fallen on my feet there) said that she could tell just from my manner speaking to her that I need some help Shock I thought I was just explaining my symptoms and trying to be my usual rational self but obviously I was a basket case par excellence. So, I'm off for blood tests tomorrow, oh goody gumdrops, and then she's booked me a double appt with her for next week to look at Mindfulness - has anyone heard of that? It was recommended to my mother but she was too ill for it which is sort of a relief, I can't be that bad if I'm a good candidate for it!

DB hope the mouth is healing well - mouths heal fast, don't they?

I feel your pain all those having broken nights - DS still wakes in the night several times a week. I couldn't imagine having a baby as well as a 2 1/2 year old, I am in awe!

I've just got I Capture the Castle from the library - has anyone here read it?

Beans33 · 17/05/2011 13:12

I have, but can't remember much about it. Not that that means it's bad, I just read a lot, so don't always remember books. BUt I do remember enjoying it!

I'm reading The Suspicions of Mr Whicher. Dear God it's hard work... Feel like I've been reading it for months. DH can't believe how long it's taking me to get through it. But I won't be beaten! Have tried to read it about 4 other times, so this time I am determined to finish it. About 100 pages to go....

Trudy - sounds good that they're taking you seriously and that you have taken it seriously enough to be seen early on. Well done you!

Summer - we have similar issues with DD1 and 2 fighting. Problem is, DD2 wins - she yanks DD1's hair, to the point where great clumps are coming out. I would be sobbing as much as DD1 if someone did that to me. Any tips on how to stop it? Shouting "NO!" doesn't seem to work to a 10 month old!!!

Rubena · 17/05/2011 13:20

Hi Summer yes you can get it warmed. The crew will just sit the bottle in a jug of boiling water as there is no microwave etc. lol at your dh! Yes it most certainly would be easier FOR HIM if you continued BF! BF easier on the flight but not so much at the other end - well depends where you stay I guess as if you haven't got access to dishwasher or microwave etc could be tricky.
The other thing with dd is she won't eat ANY lumpy food. Only pureed fruits and veg, yogurt etc. DS was the same though, except he slept through at 4 months! I tried to thicken up her fruit today at lunch with some baby porridge (from 7 months) and she totally gagged like an 80 year old Japanese woman chocking on Mochi, then projectile vommed all over the table within inches of covering ds hapily eating his pasta Shock She's just not ready for anything on the box that says more than 4+ months. Hates my cooking too but Ella's kitchen is a sure thing. Nothing like miniSL who happily chowed down on Jam's salad! DD would think I was mental.
Right I'm tired of doing Dora and Tomas Tank Engine puzzles so ds has gone for a nap and I think I will take her to the weekly weigh in (where I haven't been for 7 months Blush) with the HV and ask a few questions when he wakes.
NudeTrude, well done for taking that step. Good that you recognise such things and want to get it sorted. You're half way there..... I get (what I call) depressed in the Winter but it's not serious and mainly due to the weather as most people get from time to time.

RE babying. DS hasn't had a bottle since he was about 1 (can't see dd being the same) although he still has milk at least 3 cups a day I'd say, from a sippy cup too. he just requested to take a cup to bed with him for his nap Hmm whatever, it's only milk. He refuses to wear a bib now and any mention of food and he shouts NO BIB. Not the same with nappies though.
Right I've more than exhausted my MN exposure in the last couple of days. Must put dd down soon and do something adult like Hmm (sleeping comes to mind Grin)

SummerLightning · 17/05/2011 13:22

trudy that doc sounds excellent taking you seriously. Would be much worse to pluck up the courage and have them brush you off.

Don't think I have read I capture the castle or any Iris Murdoch (it is Iris Murdoch right?) Have hardly been reading recently and am still on 3 men and a boat!

Beans no advice, DD pulls DS hair and I tell her NO, obviously doesn't work, but I think he needs to hear me tell her off too! He doesn't half whinge about it though, in such an indignant way, when he kicks and sits on her

trudy my DS is a dream sleeper at the moment, so can cope with the baby ok! She's alright as well, she tends to wake and feed and go straight back most of the time so not too bad.

Rubena · 17/05/2011 13:30

Hmmm don't know Beans, the worst ds does is dangle a toy in dd's reach then snatch it away and she just thinkks he's a nutter so doesn't last long and she annoys him by tugging on him etc but he just gets annoyed and pushes her hand off him then yells at me to make her stop. Poor DD2. sorry no help with that one as it's difficult when it's the little one that you can't tell off!
Meant to say thanks deids for the compliment earlier. However, it's amazing what a bit of sun can do. Glad camera's not in Hi def though as I've got a real problem with ingrown hairs recently. Does anyone have any advice? I don't wax as I can't sleep when hair on legs gets too long and brushes against sheets. I try to exfoliate every day which helps but sometimes have quick shower and don't. Anyone have any advice? I know waxing would be the answer but you have to wait ages with hairy hairy legs and I can't stand it!

SummerLightning · 17/05/2011 13:31

Yes rubes mini SL loves her lumpy food. She'll eat whole pasta even though she has no teeth! I was still pureeing DS's food way beyond now, but no more with DD, just chop or squash a bit. SHe does bloody love the Ellas kitchens as well though.
Gotta go parents here

Rubena · 17/05/2011 13:31

Oh and yes same here Summer, DS sleeps pretty well from about 7-730pm but wakes too early for my liking! makes it through the night though and has done most nights since tiny, so it's managable but getting old.....
