Morning HC! Glad you had a nice Christmas. We were wiped out with ds1's bug that he had the week before. dh, ds2 and I were really bad and only just recovered now. Horrid really .

ds2 is no where near sitting up on his own but is OK with a bit of support. We are starting solids next week (would have been earlier but wanted to make sure he was over the d&v bug) and dh treated ds to a nice new highchair yesterday whilst we were sale shopping.

I am currently watching ds2 who is on the floor infront of me and desperately trying to work out how to propel himself forward on his tummy - it is very sweet but slightly odd to think about him moving about! .

Happy Christmas everyone! DD is also nowhere near sitting up. I've given her a few meals of baby rice and she found the experience quite interesting but a lot of it oozed back out of her mouth .

It's my wedding anniversary today, which I am celebrating by having major PMT (so far it's lasted 3 weeks and still no wign of af!), to the point where I'm not really safe to go out as my coordination is so bad. I got stuck in a level crossing yesterday (on foot, with DS1 screaming that we were going to be killed ).

Poor you with the d&v bug, Bagpuss. Glad you're feeling better now.

Happy New Year!

My Xmas present from dh was to spend new year's day at a local hotel's spa finishing with a cream tea in their drawing room. My parents took ds shopping at the sales and dh wandered around the hotel with dd who was very happy all day. What bliss .

Hope everyone is fine.

Happy new year everyone! Congratulations on your wedding anniversary Mrs D, how many years? Welcome blondie, how you finding mumsnet so far?

We've just finished a great break with a whimsical little film - Napoleon Dynamite - on DVD. Good fun, recommend it for a day when you're happy to drift with daftness.

What's everyone up to for new year/2006? I'm thinking: move in January, sort childcare in Feb/March, test childcare in April and if it works, back to work in start May. Huh. Hope I can manage it. I distinguished (and suprised) myself at new year's dinner by tearing up when another mum said how hard it is to leave your firstborn in someone else's care.

And overall: get fit(ter). No thoughts of kid number two unless I improve my health. Looks like it might be a tiny bit easier than I imagined. I'm really enjoying introducing ds to foods - one great thing being I think I'm re-educating my palate starting meals out with no seasoning. Everything tastes so damn good. Anyway, see you more I hope now the holiday is over.

Napoleon Dynamite is great isn't it MB? We like to shout "Rex Kwon Do" in happy moments!

12 years married. We're starting to resemble each other, like dogs/owners

I am going to post a little cry for advice about dd's appalling sleeping habits. Last night was v bad as I ACCIDENTALLY cut her thumb when I was cutting her nails The blood! Poor baby and repentant, mortified mother!

Have anyone else's hormones been doing strange things? I have had PMT for about 2-3 weeks, gross hair loss, but no sign of period. Is this a 6-month thing? Can't remember from DS1&2.

merryberry · 03/01/2006 13:39

Ah is there a 6 month thing then? My period started just before Xmas. Unlike unlucky Mrs 'Sweeny Todd' Darcy though it seemed to be easier than pre-baby periods. So far.

Going to lookee at your sleep thread, and not say anything helpful, knowing me.

Oooh, and Napoleon Dynamite has a final scene right at end of movie credits. We nearly missed it.

'Bow to your sensei. BOW!' is going to be our happy quote

Happy New Year!

Mrsd, I can top that - managed to slice ds2's finger tip at 5 days old . Just put a plaster on it and forget about it - ds certainly hasn't held it against me.

My periods have diappeared . I thought I had one when ds2 was eight weeks old but haven't had anything since so far. I have stopped bf as of four days ago so I bet it wont be long before it returns. Have had very bad hair loss (as I have mentioned before) and it is still as bad as ever.

ds2 had some baby rice yesterday and seemed to really like it. Can't wait to start trying him with something a bit more appetising though.

No plans for this year really - I do need to lose some weight however.

Should we start a new thread for the new year, this one is very long!

merryberry · 03/01/2006 14:22

yes please to new thread, you start it bp, give us a natty title to keep up with the other months

and how's the stopping bf going for you both? (that's you BP and baby, not left and right breast!)

snort, Merryberry!

Oh darn, DS1 has just discovered that DH and I have eaten his selection box. I may be gone some time...........

Bagpuss30 · 03/01/2006 15:34

lol MB, it is going fine thanks. I had cut down to night feeds only since about November and now when ds2 wakes I give him a bottle of formula and he's out for the rest of the night which is pretty good . I'm hoping with the introduction of solids that he will be sleeping through reliably soon too.

tsk tsk Mrsd, how do you plan to make it up to ds1?

Oh, crumbs, it will take me the rest of the afternoon to think up a title, answers on a postcard.....

Ooh, first time mum help needed please! Do i try and get water into my under the weather 6 month old?

Young man has a cold i 'diagnose' (runny eyes, yellowy runny nose, cough now and then, temp up just 0.5C and being sick several times the last 24 hours).

i am just giving him small breastfeeds every couple of hours or when he asks for one. i reckon he's only kept two down fully in 24 hours, the others come back up i suspect partially. he's not looking dehydrated yet and is still quite smiley through it all.

would water help in addition or replacement to bfs, or just keep on with the bf? i will try a drop of water during the night if he carries on like this is my instinct.

I'd be very grateful for an experience/thoughts.

Poor Vin. I'd keep on with the bf but perhaps drink extra water yourself - so long as he doesn't show any signs of being dehydrated.
Hope he's feeling better soon.
