lol, mb, but that would make it no fun surely?

Bagpuss30 · 30/11/2005 09:23

Oh, and ds2 slept through, yeahhhh!

merryberry · 30/11/2005 10:03

Swapsie, BP? Upt twice plus nightmare about 'being on the wrong steps'. Weird.

H2D, computer type bloke - how do I put a pic in member profiles? Am I being completely dim overlooking instructions somewhere?

Congratulations on your sleep, BP !!!!!!!! What a feeling, hey ? !!!!!

You print it out, stick it in an envelope, send it to Tech. He takes a photo, gets it developed at Boots, requests a digital CD of the image, then he cuts it down real small, like, and he carefully sticks it to the side of the server.

Is that helpful ?

hub2dee · 30/11/2005 10:16

Oh, alright... Click create a convo; Click upload picture; Click choose file; browse your hard drive to locate file; click send or upload or something like that. I believe Tech tweaked the script so that images up to 512KB get auto-resized to fit the Allowable Limits Prescribed by MN Towers. The displayed image will be 18KB or less. If you want to be geeky, you can attempt to resize yourself and upload an 18KB (or less) image. Either way, it'll turn out SMALL.

Bagpuss30 · 30/11/2005 11:20

Actually, I'm still feeling awful on account of dd giving me a cold . Although am feeling slightly better after tea, toast and sitting here ordering nappies for his royal highness . BTW is is wrong of me to be giddy with excitement at the thought of the postie arriving with this ? I think I need help....

MB, a hair cut is next on my list I think - I had a re-style about 9 weeks ago and it is looking a bit odd now all the spare hair has fallen out.

hub2dee · 30/11/2005 11:28

It does look sweet, bp... did you see my links to Happy Henieys and starbunz at US site diaperware many moons ago ? V.v.v. cute too.

Can I ask - dd is a big sleeper (sorry if this is a sore point, LOL)... but could either a pocket nappy, or a Stacinator, or a wrap really contain wee for, say, a 10 hour sleep at night ? The dispies do it without nappy rash so far... During the day, if she has a big sleep, she might even be in the same nappy for 4 or 5 hours, lying flat... do you reckon I could make it work ? We semi-routinely get poo leaks up the back, but as she only has a bm once a day (at most), and we often catch it v. promptly, it feels 'within acceptable limits' IYSWIM, LOL.

Bagpuss30 · 30/11/2005 11:45

I have tried most of my nappy collection at night. The nights that ds has slept longest are when he is wearing the tots red wrap over the top of either an unbleached terry folded with a fleece liner and nippa'd, a bumble (good nappy, have a blue one arriving with the stacinator wrap) or the ella's house bum hugger I ordered a few weeks back (although it is very high in the rise which is difficult with the red wrap). I think that fleece is the key tbh as it keeps them dry and air circulates nicely. If you decide to try, I will warn you that overnight the sleepsuit and possibly the growbag will become a bit clammy, but not wet as the fleece wrap allows evaporation rather than being waterproof.

With regards to pocket nappies, I find that my fuzzibunz either have an excellent fit and go 4 hours with 2 inserts inside or they fail dismally and I get random leaks from the legs. I think this is due to ds2's changing shape and the fact that pocket nappies need to be more exact IYSWIM. I have never had a poo leak from them though. Tots are excellent for catching everything and so are sandy's too. The motherease wraps will deffo do what you are after too. If you need any more help just CAT me and I will do my best to advise based on what I have used myself .

Right, best stop evangelising and let everyone get back to discussing their babies .

merryberry · 30/11/2005 12:40

I believed you for a minute you s*d h2d.

OP posts:
merryberry · 30/11/2005 12:51

I resized it myself, looks grainy. Did that to prove I'm not an utter idiot for not spotting the link before

BP - I take it you mean the wrap, not the mooncup...it's funky! I mean the wrap, not the mooncup.

H2D re: poo fountains up the spine, we used to get those then I found that I was making our nature boy and girl disposables too snug a fit. Now I leave a good dangling trough of nappy at the crotch and have reduced that particular irritation by about 90%.

OP posts:
merryberry · 30/11/2005 12:52

Ooooh, me manners! thank you h2d!

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 30/11/2005 14:18

lol mb, PMSL at the thought of being excited at the postie bringing me a mooncup , no I definitely did mean the wrap!!!

hub2dee · 30/11/2005 21:12

interesting tip, mb.

Thanks for the nappy info, bp... 'slightly clammy' sounds a bit yuck (if I'm being honest) when dispies keep it all in and dry IYSWIM...

Maybe, for me, I could begin cloth for the day, and do a dispie at night until I found something I was happy with ? She still has LONG sleeps during the day though (say 4 - 5 hours occasionally !!!) so would still need a solution which performed very well.

merrybelly · 01/12/2005 08:23

Here is my new name in honour of Christmas, supposedly, but as you can tell by what it is, directly referencing the old Roman Saturnalia instead .

hub2dee · 01/12/2005 08:42

mb - You need to get busy... here - would this sort of thing be (have been) in your radar or are you more 'don't breathe on me ! Yikes, is that a dead African Grey in your pocket ?'

See you / hc later. If we're late it's just cos mini-me got hungry in the forest, LOL (we're walking I think, if the rain holds off).

DiamondsAreForChristmastoo · 01/12/2005 09:53

morning all- yes, I am now fully into the Christmas spirit having just done the majority of my shopping in my pj's and all before 9am on the first of Dec!
so thought I should join in and have a festive name too- and a hint to my dh...

Bagpuss30 · 01/12/2005 09:57

He'll never buy it Diamonds, and if for some reason he does, he's a better man than my dh......

Belo · 01/12/2005 12:25

It's been busy here... Where to start.

Dd2 also hates the car seat. She also hates her all in one fleacy suit and the pushchair. Maybe she hates them 'cos she associates them with being ignored for a bit?

TB jab - dd2 had hers this morning. The health visitor thought it was a good idea as dh's Mum had TB 40 years ago (!) and my family are from Eastern Europe (!!). Plus we live in "inner city London" (!!!). She didn't cry at all.

As to weaning, I'm hoping to wait until after we go on holiday on the 2nd of Jan. We get back on the 9th, so I'm planning on starting on the 10th. That's also dd2s first day at nursery for her settling in period. Maybe that's a silly idea, but I'm back at work on the 23rd so I will need to get started ASAP. I want to wait until after our holiday as purreeing carrots in a hotel room might not be that easy. Maybe I won't be able to wait though. She's a big baby and I often get the feeling that I'm not satisfying her.

Yes to Ibuprofen whilst breast feeding. I've hurt my back and was advised to take it by a Bupa telephone doctor. They told me not to take too much though. Not sure what that means.... Hope the tooth ache is better by now anyway MrsD.

DaF, I was so down before I went back to work with dd1, but I soon got to value my lunch breaks, the use of my brain, etc. I think 3 days sounds like you'll get a good mix. I'm supposed to be going back full time, but I'm now considering reducing it to 4 days..... Not sure how boss will take it as we've always said it's impossible to do our job part time. I should stop putting off phone call.

Eulalia, where you live looks idilic. Can I come to yours for my next holiday please?

MB, hope your Dads contining to recover well.

Better go now. dd2 is getting bored watching me type.

pinkmama · 01/12/2005 14:25

hello ,all! hope all going well.

h2d - a mac question if you have a mo - I would like to get dd1 a cheap mp3 for xmas. And I mean cheap, one of the 19-29 pound ones. SHe loves playing with my mini ipod and thought it would be fun for her, but struggling to find a cheap one that is compatible. Got one from comet that claimed to be compatible but the mac does not want to know. ANy ideas by any chance. I have given it a good talking to but it just wont listen to me. Maybe it is just to snobby and refuses to talk to anything other than and ipod!

SOrry, know its not really postnatal related

hub2dee · 01/12/2005 15:44

hi pink - The Apple ipod Shuffle is their cheapest mp3 player at £69 , obviously it'll definitely work fine.

I haven't ever looked at alternative mp3 players so sadly can't suggest anything which I know will work. I expect anything which mounts as a USB drive on the desktop would be compatible, as you should be able to Export / Import from iTunes. Perhaps find one that looks OK and then google "[insert mp3 player name] OS X" IYSWIM ?

HTH

Bagpuss30 · 01/12/2005 16:00

I second the shuffle also, dh bought me one for my labour bag and it is brilliant!

Hub, when I posted the bit about the fleece being clammy I thought you might say that! I have to say though that once you have potty trained two toddlers then a dampish bot scores low down on the ugh scale .

hub2dee · 01/12/2005 16:03

Just to say I met up with merryberry and hoxtonchick today, with dee2hub and bub2hub and we had a lovely time seeing Mrs Henderson Presents at a parent and baby screening, though it was fairly noisy. Vin and Florence are cute cute cute. Sorry I had to make a run for it (failed even to say goodbye to you, hc. Sorry), but I'm glad I did: vulture next to my car was waiting for the minute hand to jump to 2:35. Got straight in and drove off to meet Dee who was taking up the rear, LOL.

Thanks for a nice afternoon laydees.

hub2dee · 01/12/2005 16:04

LOL, I am so green, eh, BP. Doubtless second time round baby will have to 'make do' with a hell of a lot more, LOL.
