hoxtonchick · 01/12/2005 17:00

we had a lovely cinema trip too! dd was positively angelic going round waitrose afterwards.... must do it again soon.

merrybelly · 01/12/2005 18:28

i really enjoyed that too. was so cool to meet up with people I somehow felt i recognised. dp says he thought HC reminds him of me (hope you're not growling now). Dee and i were cruelly ripped from the start of a very interesting convo about life the universe and everything. so see you guys post-america, and hc see you week after next! got to say, camden parking 'enforcers' are so damn hot on their job. wisj some of the other council services would get it half as efficient.

thanks for your kind wishes belo. big vin is doing so well they are kicking him out early tomorrow for his bed!

and we're all off to see a nice 2 bed garden flat tomorrow, hoping to move mid-Jan.

Belo · 01/12/2005 19:22

Glad to hear about your Dad MB. I remember how stressed dh was about his Dad 18 months ago. Now he's fit and well with a bit too much energy!

DiamondsAreForChristmastoo · 01/12/2005 20:55

just a thought- as we are now getting into the Christmas spirit, shall we start a new Christmassy postnatal thread and make everyone else jealous?!

glad to hear you all had a lovely afternoon fellow Londoners- I must make more of an effort and make it up to the wilds of North London one day on the train- plus any old chance to show off our lovely red stroller which now has long red ribbons on each handle I think I am regressing back to days of the Red Hand Gang but with child.

pinkmama · 02/12/2005 08:47

Had forgotten all about the red hand gang DAF! Post made me laugh though. Very enviuos of you all meeting up. Sounds like a nice afternoon.

Think Christmas thread would be good, but before we go for one please please please all help me think of an xmas name. I didnt have one last year because of my lack of originality. Help me not disgrace our group this year!

Bagpuss30 · 02/12/2005 09:36

Ooh, yes good idea, daf.

PM, I need a new name too - I was BagpussinBoots last year but I think I would like a change, any suggetions welcome as I am far too sleep deprived to work it out for myself .

merrybelly · 02/12/2005 10:05

Bagpuss30 · 02/12/2005 10:50

Ooh, thanks for the suggestions, I quite like Santasbagpussisfull but I think Belo's right, I'll stick with the original for the moment , unless I or anyone come up with something better.

Hub, I like Hub2deepmidwinter the best.

pm, what about Pinkchampagneonchristmasdaymama? Sorry, not very good at this as you can see .

Bagpussinboots · 02/12/2005 10:54

That's better!

Belo · 02/12/2005 12:22

I like the pinkchampagne... one Bagpussinboots.

What about Belotherednosereindeer? (I've got a cold so it's quite appropriate!)

Eulalia · 02/12/2005 14:30

It's got awfully busy in here.

hub - how do you get your dd to sleep so long? Does she sleep long at night too?

Well I took ds swimming today for the first time. He loved it. Here is a picture ds's first swim

Hmm I guess I'd better think of a name too - didn't do it last year but everyone seems to be doing it now. I take it you still keep your old name don't you so you can go back to it?

hub2dee · 02/12/2005 15:53

No real clue, Eulalia, as to why dd is such a fab sleeper. Yes, she does sleep during the day and sleeps well at night too... she is our only kid, and she has both of us at home at the moment, so possibly she gets extra stimulation, which wears her out, LOL... but basically we are guided (timetable wise) by what she wants. I guess we are just lucky !

She gets milk 4 times a day (about 250mil, SMA gold), when she cries for it / gets hungry. She sleeps when she wants and we almost never wake her up (ie. no other kids to pick up from school, if she's late for a feed we won't worry etc., if we're going out we would try and not wake her half way through a nap etc. etc. but leave when she wakes up or as she is nodding off to sleep IYSWIM)

The last couple of days she's woken early - 6 / 6:30, but she's gone down around 8 at night so it's no hardship. She sleeps next to us in a crib if that makes any difference.

Erm - I don't know what other variables might be relevant ? She had a dummy till she got bored and found her thumb maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago, and we haven't needed to give her the dummy now for probably 2 weeks. She moans when she is put to bed for maybe one or two minutes, finds her thumb, moans a bit more and then is out for the count. We don't 'tip toe' around because of her, she is exposed to all routine household noise, although we'll try and keep it quiet as she goes off IYSWIM.

She usually has a few hours nap in the morning, and a few more in the afternoon (up to 4 or 5 is probably the longest stretch I've seen)... I think generally she sits on a very 'even keel' and that might be the most important - she is calm and for that , I

hub2dee · 02/12/2005 15:53

woops... am grateful, LOL.

pinkmama · 02/12/2005 22:12

Well H2D, you definately have a star for sleeping there! None of mine have ever been that good. Thaks for the advice re MP3's. I sadly think that ipods maybe the only compatible device. I love dd1 dearly, but no way am I forking out for a shuffle for a 7 year old. Have to say quite proud of her taste though as she does have an ipod nano on her xmas list! Youa re a bit spoilt for choice on those names there. I like quite a few of those.

Belo the rednose reindeer is a good name, and bagpuss, I think you are right to go for the old favourite.

I am going to sleep on mine and see what I fancy in the morning. Thanks for the ideas!

Eulalia · 02/12/2005 22:43

I love Bagpussinboots too and all those hub ones too...

Off to bed in a mo - we all went out for a curry earlier and the kids were great. Met a few friends we'd not seen in ages. They brought pressies for the kids which kept them amused at the table.

hub2dee - wow you have a mammoth sleeper for sure. I've heard that formula can make them sleepier due to it being 'heavier' ifykwim. Even so... my ds only has 2 hour naps at the most and some days just has a serious of maybe 4 catnaps maybe only 1 hour or even 20 mins. I usually have to jump up and start on something as soon as he falls asleep.

Eulalia · 02/12/2005 22:48

Here is my absolute favourite picture of dd taken this summer not long after ds2 was born.

don't you think she looks like a Pears little girl? [proud emoticon]

hub2dee · 03/12/2005 08:52

Gorgeous. Also contrasty background really lifts the shot. If you can be bothered, set up a light to one side, or take a shot near a window to catch highlights in the hair !!! Will look extra fab !

pinkmama · 03/12/2005 12:30

Eulalia, she does look like a pears girl. She is beautiful.

mrsdarcy · 03/12/2005 18:34

I agree, she's gorgeous - all 3 of them are

hoXMASchick · 03/12/2005 19:50

fab pictures eulalia!

poor dd has a cold so we're all liberally coated in snot. we braved bluewater today & have got about half the presents for our families. both children were amazingly well behaved, & even dp & i weren't too stroppy.

dd's new favourite toy is an (unused) washing up brush. hours of fun!

mrsdarcy · 03/12/2005 19:59

Those pictures cheered me up after a horrible, horrible day yesterday. My toothache came back and the dentist said I was brewing an abcess and he did horrid things with the root canal. I have to go back for more in a couple of weeks, then again after Christmas.

And after all that when I got home there was a message from the Water Babies people saying that I'd missed DD's underwater photo shoot - I must have put it in my diary for the wrong day. I spent the whole evening crying like a 4 year old . (I'm a REALLY bad patient!)

Belo · 03/12/2005 20:00

The pictures are lovely. I have tried to add some but I'm crap with technology.

Very brave attempting bluewater on a December Saturday HCC! All my shopping is being done via the internet. Bought a christmas tree today and spent the morning making cards with dd1. Both of us, the house and dd2 ended up with glitter on us. Dh and the cat somehow remained glitter free....
