OK, that cheered me up! Back to mopping brows and bottoms now.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Belo · 03/12/2005 20:01

Poor you MrsD. Imagine though how much more painful it would have been if you had had to pay to have the horrible painful treatment. I think a whisky to numb the pain might be in order.

mrsdarcy · 03/12/2005 21:10

Thanks Belo. Forgot to say at the reasons given for DD2 needing a BCG! Interesting logic there!

DD has been giggling like mad at DS2 telling her all about fish!

hoXMASchick · 04/12/2005 08:13

about the photos mrsd. could you wangle yourselves a sneaky extra?

dd's cold progresses. me & her were up most of the night, but it's my morning to get up so her & dp are still in bed....

dd had her bcg jab at 6 weeks. it's offered to everyone where we live at this age. it has been really disgusting & pussy & even burst a couple of times (nice) but has settled down now.

right, my parents are coming over for lunch, better begin tidying.

Eulalia · 04/12/2005 13:49

Thanks for compliments folks.

hub - that pic was next to a window which I often use for photos. Photography is my favourite (and only at the moment) hobby and I take up to 100 photos every month. I won £50 in a local competition last year. I am always 'seeing' photos, you know what I mean, but will also do some sort of semi-posed ones in as much as you can with children. Its in the family, we all have cameras and my dad has his own dark room.

Mrs D - can you reschedule the photos again soon? How was the canal treatent, I know I shouldn't be putting mine off. Hope you feel better soon.

its been raining here so we've done painting which meant a huge mess but kept the older two amused for an hour and thats been cleared away and its now felt tips but still got the rest of the day to amuse them. dh is tiling our new bathroom, babe asleep...

am panicking a bit about Christmas - got my whole family coming on 17th for a present exchange and hardly even started shopping.

Hope all those with colds get better soon. dd has one and the constant sniffing is driving me mad!

mrsdarcy · 04/12/2005 18:15

Thanks so much for the sympathy guys. I'll ask about rescheduling the photos. Worst case scenario is that I have to wait until end of next term and pay again (£45 just for the shoot and loads extrs for the pics .) I really would like it done whilst she's pretty small though. It's also that feeling of going totally deranged and losing all control over my life - if I can't put things in my diary properly the next stage is forgetting where I live!

Eulalia, the canal work was horrible, but I really am very wet about such things.

We went to a lovely Xmas party for DH's colleagues with children. There was one of those lovely pottery painting things and we did a teapot with her handprints on it . On a rather sour note, DS2 pood himself twice (he's 4.5 ffs) but I think that's for another thread as we're getting rather worried about it!

pinkmama · 05/12/2005 09:10

Sorry about your tooth and photos MrsD. Sounds like party cheered you up a bit though. With regards to ds2 pooing himself, we are having that problem at the moment with ds. It seems to be when he is engrossed in something, and doesnt nelp that it just doesnt seem to bother him. He would sit in it all day! Has your ds just started doing it?

HC, good effort on blue water. Hope F better soon.

dd2 seems to have a bit of a cough and her chest sounds very rattly. She is well in every other way, feedig, no temp etc. Just a little concerned that she is going to be like ds who had recurrent bronchilitis when a baby. He has grown out of it now, but it was pretty scarey when he was little.

I only have 2 xmas presents left to get!!!! Did a load on teh internet. Bought most of ELC on line! Just have odd bits to get now. But have made my xmas pudding, and made mincemeat yesterday. I love xmas soo soooooooo soooooooooooooooooo much

Eulalia · 05/12/2005 16:16

pinkmama - hope your dd is better soon. How do you manage to find time to make your own mincemeat!?

Mrs D - I think I am going doolaly - had one of those moments where I was in the room with all the kids supervising the older two eating and suddenly thought "where's ds2?!" and I was actually holding him! duh!!

Actually had a really hard day with the kids yesterday was getting guilt feelings about having 3 kids etc....

Anyway the Carers Support Worker came today for a chat and have also got a Social Work visit coming up to assess our needs. They can open the gates to lots of support for ds like a club he can go to, paid childminding and respite for me.

hoXMASchick · 05/12/2005 18:28

i always said you were a domestic goddess pinkmama .

merrybelly · 05/12/2005 19:02

aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggggh! flying visit to share this tidbit (horror story?). Sister of woman at mum and babe group has fraternal, clomid inspired 18 mth old twins. Is now 9 weeks pg with naturally conceived identical twins.

aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggggh!!!!

i can't cope thinking about it, let alone doing it.

hoXMASchick · 05/12/2005 19:12

am amazed she found the time to conceive the second set.... DaF & i were playing twins with our dds today & that was exhausting enough!

hope you & yummy vin are ok mb - how was your night out?

hub2dee · 06/12/2005 08:59

Eulalia - V. glad we share a hobby, LOL. Do you shoot on film or digital ? It is great fun, eh...I asked a question about tilt / shift lenses in another thread. I don't suppose you've ever used them ? Oh, and if I can pick your brain on something else... I've just moved from Canon FD mount to their new EF digital / autofocus blah blah lenses (quite a jump from my manual AE1-P, I can tell you, LOL) and am deciding what lenses to buy... from your experience of taking photos of babies and kids, would you go for primes or zooms, and have you found a preferred focal length / range for your shots ?

hub2dee · 06/12/2005 09:00

Oh, and BTW hoxton and mb, dw thought you were both lovely laydees.

merrybelly · 06/12/2005 09:25

i've had root canal work. dentists are the devil and you have all my sympathy.

h2d, i really liked dee too, we got just to the top of a very large convo and will probably manage to talk for hours in future

HC, I'm still on for thursday, tis in my diary, mail me when.

I'm like a rabbit caught in headlights in the face of christmas. giong to covent garden to get my lotions and potions today, and hopefully find something for him-indoors-who-has-everything. never easy.

we viewed a new home to rent on friday and we're taking it! 5 minutes from here, bathroom/loo out of the 1950's but the rest so homely and a huge south facing garden!! will have it for 18 months then hope to buy something similar. we'll see. glad to be moving out of our posh bachelor shag pad. it's been a blast living here but it doesn't answer our needs anymore.

vin made me cry at his great-nans on saturday. he has been giggling and laughing a bit for weeks, but on saturday his great uncle steve was bouncing around daftly for him and he just laughed, and laughed and laughed some more. went on for minutes. magic moment, and i'm so happy we were all there for it, mum, dad, nan, greatnan and steve.

hub2dee · 06/12/2005 09:41

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww @ vin.

Pure magic, eh ?

Eulalia · 06/12/2005 12:33

MB - aww lovely my ds did that the other day. I was holding him and my other ds was making farting noises and ds2 just started giggling and it felt lovely feeling this little body convulsed with laughter...

hub - I have a digital camera - an Olympus Camedia Optical zoom which I use mostly on the manual setting as I don't have time to set it up properly when taking quick shots of the kids. It's got a 10X zoom which is handy say for the beach and you want to catch them running off into the distance. I am not terribly techical with my photography - most of it is having an 'eye' for good shots and lots of perseverence of course. Great thing about the digital is you can take hundreds in order to get the right one.

dh off again tomorrow so a lazy day is planned. I need it as I was up last night with 2 v snotty kids.

merrybelly · 06/12/2005 14:03

i wish i could have taken a pic of the faces of the shop assistants in trendy ole cathcartt's in covent garden this am. i whipped in wearing baby in sling to buy dp a XMas pressie t-shirt (got lucky, one with helicopter on front, in ref. to our holiday...!) and they were just so taken aback. I don't think fat jolly mamas and 5 month old babies are their forte somehow . Nonplussed, thats the wrd i'm looking for.

HC, I mean next thursday of course, not this week, sorry being unclear. Is your little one better, did I just read that she was ill?

I need a weekly digest of this site I think. Hard to keep up. xfx

merrybelly · 06/12/2005 14:03

It is magic isn't it Eulalia. Of course we've been trying really hard ever since to make it happen again for him, no joy yet.

hoXMASchick · 06/12/2005 14:20

there's obviously something in the air atm - dd was absolutely cracking up when dp was tickling her last night.

defiintely up for next thurs mb, i'll e-mail you.

dd's cold is much better & she only woke up once last night - result.

Bagpussinboots · 06/12/2005 17:01

Afternoon all. Just thought I'd better say hi although not much news here as we are all shattered and have colds.

Mrsd, sorry to hear about the photos and the looming dental treatment, hope you are feeling better soon .

Eulalia, lovely pic of your dd. Really must sort out some of my own one day.

I think I must win the prize for "baby brain of the day" today as I was sitting here and suddenly thought I'd forgotten to pick dd up from nursery and then realised that she was sitting opposite me . I have also just been drinking tea only to find the tea bag still in the bottom of the cup when I finished it! I think I need a holiday.

All my nappy purchases from last week have arrived so I have been proudly trying them out on ds2 this week. I have done all my christmas shopping too, all apart from two things and dd and ds1 have their nursery and school productions tomorrow so I am seeing dd in the afternoon and ds1 in the evening. I just hope I don't do embarrassing blubbling like last year.....

mrsdarcy · 06/12/2005 19:10

Feeling much better today, thanks. Swimming was lovely . I'm thinking of looking for an Iyengar yoga teacher to give me yoga lessons at home. I used to do classes and loved them, but I can't find any here that fit in with the school run.

Not much else to say as I have vented my poo obsession on another thread and my brain can't accommodate any other thoughts

Belo · 06/12/2005 19:37

My dd's make so much noise that I can never forget where they are, even for a nano-second. My bird brain party trick though is when I make a cup of tea, I put the teabag in the sink and the spoon in the bin. We're desperatly running out of spoons. I must write to Santa....

Not much to report here. Dd2 still loves her feet. Still wakes up twice a night. She's rolled from her tummy to her back a couple of times, but not from back to front, but I don't reckon she's far away from doing it. She rolls onto her side, but not all the way over.

On the working issue, still don't know what I want to do. I spoke to the HR dept this morning and they were saying that the year deal is the best as I will still get paid holiday. Haven't picked up the courage to speak to my boss yet.

to the 2 lots of twins!!! Did anybody see the Who Rules the Roost about Jackie Clunes? She's got 4 under 2. I wasn't envious.

Eulalia · 07/12/2005 17:10

Bagpuss - yep I did that too, as I said a few days ago... panic - where is ds?! and I was holding him!

In a dash as getting ready - ds1 has his school production tonight and is 'starring' as a shepherd.

merrybelly · 08/12/2005 20:07

hey ho quiet lovely board! hope you and families are all well. we're not doing much for xmas this year, but somehow still getting swamped in xmas stuff and activities.

started vin on pear mush today. he's been really antsy the last week or so, adding feeds for the last 2 weeks. killer was the way out at lunch on weds he ignored the four of us plus babies at the table, all the traffic and people going past the window and simply tracked the meal from plate to mouth of the lady next to me.

he seemed enthralled, and was clearly tasting rather than rejecting the stuff, so off we go againt tomorrow. oh and he is 5 months old now, or erm starting his 23rd week today.

decided i don't like arsing about with ice cube trays and remembered i had a couple of Gu chocolate pudding glass ramekins in a cupboard, which i'm going to use instead. couple? i found 15. woe is me, no wonder i'm a porker.

mrsdarcy · 08/12/2005 21:16

Woohoo! DD is asleep in her cot for the first time in weeks (ie not in bed nuzzling me). I should take advantage and go to sleep but no, I'm arsing around on MN and feeling a bit lonely!
Hope everyone's well. I am definitely too lazy and gormless to start DD on solids.

How's Big Vin, MB?
