DD at almost 4 is still having accidents or damp patches from holding on too long before running to the loo

GotArt · 20/05/2011 03:03

There's so much to do at that age... can't miss a thing! Grin

treedelivery · 20/05/2011 12:01

Hi all

Am ill, but will lurk.

moosemama · 20/05/2011 12:33

What's up Tree?

GA, Tea, we are about to embark on toilet training with dd. I have been putting it off. Blush Both my boys were a dream. We left it late and they went straight on the toilet, completely bypassing the potty and neither one ever had an accident.

Something tells me things aren't going to go as smoothly with dd, but she's definitely ready, she tends to not go for ages then, floods her nappy all in one go and leaks everywhere. We thought she needed to go up a size in nappies to get more absorbency, but in the bigger size she just wees out the side - tis very frustrating especially as we are getting through several outfits a day. I suppose toilet training can't be any worse really.

tinkbig · 20/05/2011 20:38

going to get a hamster tom

moosemama · 20/05/2011 23:02

Tink, it sounds like things are moving in the right direction for your dd. Hopefully you will get a quick referral and in the meantime, if she is having any problems at school the SENCo should be putting her on School Action and offering her some support - she doesn't need a diagnosis for that.

Oooo, get a rat instead - hamsters are bitey, rats never bite, are really clever and comical and actually form a bond with you - I know, I know - no-one ever wants rats as pets. Grin

Tree, hope you are feeling a bit better. Take care of yourself.

Tea, my boys both still leave it to the last minute to go to the toilet and they are 7 and 9! Kids eh, who'd have 'em! Grin

GotArt · 20/05/2011 23:48

I heard that about rats too. They will hang out with you even. I was thinking of getting DD guinea pig... would love a cat. The fish is amazingly still alive. Its been swimming and floating around upside down since we moved, but now just stays in one spot. Its still breathing but I haven't (shamefully) fed it in a month; neither has DH. The fish won't die. I don't have the heart to flush it. Its just a goldfish though.

Moose We didn't push the potty training either. It freaks me out a little that DD can hold her pee so long. She did have an accident in bed last night; when I went in to fluff her before heading to bed myself, I noticed she was wet, but thought she was sweaty, but when I pulled the blanket up, I saw her underpants were wedged up her butt and that's when I realized she peed, but was surprised she hadn't woken up. I picked her up, DH held her, I changed her bed and put her back down without a whimper. She must have been tired.

Lots of period like pains and overall lower back ache last night and today. Went to beach to today and Mama friends are convinced I am in the beginning of labour. They are excited. I don't know what to think. Wink

Later Ladies... have a great weekend.

moosemama · 21/05/2011 00:19

Rats are ace. We had two Fido and Picasso, when we were first married and they were hilarious. Picasso used to lie stretched out on our German Shepherd's back to sleep and loved to fall asleep having her tummy tickled just like a dog.

Unbeknownst to us, Picasso was already pregnant when we bought her and one morning produced 10 beautiful tiny babies. Half of them went to our friends and the other half to a pet shop that didn't sell rats as snake food, only as pets. Oh and I kept one to keep Picasso company, as obviously she couldn't be kept with Fido anymore if we didn't want more babies. We kept her daughter who was almost completely black, except for a thin white stripe down her stomach.

If I had the time to look after them, I would get rats for my dcs as pets, but unfortunately I have enough on my plate so its never going to happen.

Aw - feed the fish fgs! Poor thing. Sad You can buy some stuff from the pet store for pence that treats the thing they get where they end up upside down. My goldfish (Daisy Blush) killed and ate the other one. After that I felt I had to change her name to Jaws!

Ooo sounds promising, lower backache and periody type pains. Grin

GotArt · 21/05/2011 02:40

I stopped feeding him because the food was just sitting there... he wasn't eating because he stopped being able to swim for it. I didn't realize there was stuff you can get to turn them back over. I'll go out tomorrow and get it.

Teaandcakeplease · 21/05/2011 08:56

Oh GA exciting.

Yes your fish is poorly, they swim oddly and go off their food. But you can buy something like Gold Disease Safe to add to the water. That treats almost everything. Cured my fishes fin rot a while ago.

GotArt · 21/05/2011 17:26

Hey ladies. No computer. DD threw ball to DH and coffee was spilt over it. Hope it's ok. Everything is on there. Nothing new here. Still back and belly pain. Will try to keep you updated.

tinkbig · 21/05/2011 18:56

not so keen on rats dont like there tails!!
have had lots of tails previuosly
bought hamster food etc
and ordered a cage on amazon

sounds good gotart

Teaandcakeplease · 21/05/2011 19:17

Yeah I was biten by a rat actually as a child. A friends pet. So not too fond of them either Tink Hmm

Wink
moosemama · 21/05/2011 22:23

Tink - their tails are soft and fuzzy, not scaly and cold like most people think, I was really surprised as I was very anti getting rats when dh suggested it, but was totally smitten once we did. I do understand they're not for everyone though. Smile

Tea Shock at being bitten by a rat, I have never heard of anyone being bitten by a pet rat before and I know lots of people who've had them. I don't like hamsters for the same reason - mine bit down to the bone on my thumb when i was a child and I know several other people whose hamsters did the same thing. I was told its because they're nocturnal and don't appreciate being being woken up and played with during daylight hours. I do think the really tiny (russian?) ones are really cute though.

Teaandcakeplease · 22/05/2011 06:47

Maybe he thought it was food? It was a long time ago but it put me off them.

tinkbig · 22/05/2011 20:23

evening ladies

had a gd weekend

nice relaxing day today abit too windy though
mum over tom and tues

GotArt · 24/05/2011 01:18

We have use of friends computer until ours gets out of the shop. Nothing new going on, just the same infuriating period pains and back ache... on top of head cold. grr. Ending this pregnancy with a cold too.

DH went and slaughtered a calf today. Unnerving to me a wee bit, but I am an advocate of knowing where your food comes from and such. He said it was done humanely, and it was over quick.

Man, if I blow my nose anymore, this baby is going to shoot out. Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 24/05/2011 08:12

Great that you have use of a computer. Booo about the cold though! Sad

tinkbig · 24/05/2011 20:46

still windy here but at least some sun today

GotArt · 24/05/2011 23:36

With the hamster... don't get a plastic wheel.. some will chew them up. Those balls you put them are great too. My hamster use to run all over the house in them and the cat loved chasing them. lol

Got into car this morning on the way to midwife appointment and a light on the dashboard was on. Its the tire pressure light. Fucking nail in the tire. ARGH!!! When I rang to have it fixed, I said I needed it fixed tomorrow as I am due to give birth any day now. The woman got me in, saying that she'll tell them in the garage that it needs to be done. Grin Oh ya, played the birthing card.

We're still waiting to have the ice and water dispenser fixed.

Ok... I just fell asleep here. I'm off to take a nap. Hope everyone is well.

GotArt · 25/05/2011 05:48

OK... at 8.40pm PST, I think my waters broke while I was peeing. Grin Right now, there is some extra pain.
