polly I've played around with teat sizes, but sometimes he just doesn't want to finish his milk and I'm not sure it's anything to do with speed of delivery. Even now, he's only on teat 2 size - he just doesn't like teat 3. Sometimes he holds the bottle with both hands and guzzles, other times he just chews on the teat and grins at me. Unless he refuses all 3 daily bottles personally I wouldn't worry. Shiny coat, cool damp nose & waggy tail all good indicators.

Hello everyone, I am back - had a super trip to the UK (journey there aside! Hmm) and am gutted that in the end didn't get to meet any of you. Can only suggest that next time we offload children somewhere and do something grown-up! Wink Am a bit worried about okie and the cake though. Did you eat it all okie? Stood by the fridge at 2am with a teaspoon and a grubby dressing-gown troughing away?

I have missed you all - and hope you're all doing OK and that the children are less plague-ridden than they were a few days ago.

Saw medee's distressing news and I hope things are picking up there too.

CUNextTuesday · 01/04/2011 15:04

What is medees distressing news??

Get well soon, minimed.Sad

alps Must do better next time. You would have thought that with the collective professional capabilities of the combined ESHes we would have been able to organise something. We have clearly all turned to custard since breeding. Or is it a case of 'never plan anything involving children or animals'?

Muser · 01/04/2011 17:21

Glad you're back ok alps.

I am sending many good wishes to Medee, MrM and the small one.

I have a baby who has not slept all day, despite two long walks in the pram. I fear for my sanity.

AlpinePony · 01/04/2011 17:27

I bought a joules polo shirt on my travels... I look like a push pony club mum, which is just as well because my mum is on the hunt on bear's behalf. I'm going back to UK in June for x-country woooooop!

How's everyone else doing?

We will all need to save a date and go to London with the babes under strict instructions to be healthy, I was so looking forward to eating cake meeting you all.

SilverSky · 01/04/2011 18:24

Hi Alps! Welcome back to FESHdom.

I am still sick. Thought it was tonsilitis or flu. But now I don't know what it is. I've a headache, did have the snots now bunged up again. Its totally bloody ruined my week. I've got new mums to eat cake support. I've done feck all. Well aside from caring for MB which included starting to wean him. Plus I've done laundry and a bit of tidying. Not that you could tell. HI says sitting indoors all day won't help and I should have gone for a walk. FFS ! Cant a FESH mope around the house if she wants! He's just taken MB out and I've been instructed to "do something useful cos I've come home early".

So I've had a bath and now I'm usefully lounging on the sofa.

Casserole · 01/04/2011 19:19

Hello! I have finally found the spa!

Just wanted to say, as have only just seen that conversation, (which I know is a bit old now, sorry) that Alps I really appreciated you announcing for me on PESH - I had announced on FB but my phone wouldn't load MN in hossie. I know everyone's different though. I should have asked someone to post for me and thus removed all confusion but she was 3 weeks early and took us somewhat by surprise! But thanks Smile

Anyway. Where lies the Brie, pliz?

Muser · 01/04/2011 19:56

Cass! Lovely to see you.

How is it all going?

Casserole · 01/04/2011 21:53

It's all going embarrassingly well so far Muse thanks - keep waiting for it all to change!

Miniministew is feeding and sleeping well, ministew hasn't tried to kill her yet, ditto dog and cats... all good, really! I am lagging behind slightly as my section stitches opened up on day 3 (TMI, sorry) so I have some nice holes in my abdomen (hands out sick bags) and the district nurses coming in each day to dress them. Yum yum, eh? Am meant to be on bed rest, and have been, but went out for about an hour and a half this afternoon. Nothing fancy, just cafe and then swings (where I sat on a bench) but it was nice to get out there again.

So yeah. Will be good when that heals, but otherwise we are doing pretty well - much better than I expected, and much better than first time around, too. So am counting my blessings, and praying it lasts!!

Sorry for all those with poorly / non-sleeping babes. Nothing worse. Just getting through those days is hardcore. Chocolate medals all round.

FannyPriceless · 01/04/2011 22:13

Ooo! casserole! How lovely to see you. Have some stinky blue. Slip off that towelling gown and I'll meet you in the steam room. Don't worry about the TMI - no such thing here. ( boxy accidentally posted an actual photo of her gory insides once and we're all still in PTSD counselling for that, so everything else pales by comparison.)

muse So sorry about lack of day sleeps today - that is exhausting. We finally have a good pattern going here (only took 9 monthsHmm). I have discovered that Clyde likes to sleep in the buggy during the day, so I now wheel it into the hall twice a day if we're not going out and hey ho. I think he really likes the Wallaboo liner.

silv Sorry you are sicky.

alps What is this cross country plan you speak of? On what steed? Where?

AlpinePony · 02/04/2011 05:10

Cass. Due to dirty queue-jumping techniques employed by your dear good self your cheese isn't here yet, we're waiting on an Ocado delivery. It's your own fault you know, shut yer legs in future. Have you got seromas behind the scar or just a little opening? I got terrible seromas with another abdominal surgery (tummy tuck) and I thought I was going to die. My c-section scar opened a tiny bit but it was only a little plasma (seemed like pints! Grin) and nothing too serious. I hope yours is well on the mend now though. I was very confused about the timing of your new baybee because I thought you'd gone in for the elcs which of course is not normall done at the arsecrack of dawn! fanny's right - we've all seen Boxer's liver and intestines and we've talked tears, poos, first sechs, boobs et al. Oh, and lochia butter packs.

Muse Your postings make it sound like you've got this whole mothering thing well & truly cracked, have another cocktail! Grin Glad to hear though that it all seems to be going swimmingly and easily. This it seems, is the pay-off for us having ms the entire pregnancy! After puking constantly and feeling groggy-headed for 7 months plus, once your marbles are back in place and baby hormones gone anything else is a doddle.

fanny Old friend of family is an ex-jump jockey who runs x-country courses, racehorse training & shiz. She used to run the pony club x-country back in the day about 100 years ago when I was little and it was her who "made" me take a 4 year old racehorse to camp! So I shall rock up, be assigned a trusty giant steed and then she'll bark orders at me until I cry/fall-off and then tell me I did great. That's the usual state of affairs. I think it's going to be the wrong time of year to actually do a Hunter Trials or something but she's got a bloody good course which actually has "undulations" as opposed to the Dutch ones! Wink

silv A spin on the nag will do wonders and a stirrup cup for the sniffles. I think I'm going to lunge the lunatic today in her shiny new pink cavesson. Oh the haterz! Tomorrow I'm going to try and ride without her scaring the bejesus out of me, this may not go to plan as I'm going out with the girls tonight and I'm not sure a hangover will aid my plan.

Casserole · 02/04/2011 10:38

Morning Pony - had a couple of haematomas behind the stitches which burst in the middle of the night in a "bloodbath in the bed" horror stylee... now I think I have 2 small holes and one larger one. I am operating a sort of "minimum information" policy now; a bit of repression never did anyone any harm, eh? Plus I can't actually see it any more cos of the dressings.

Yes, I was booked for an elective - yesterday actually! But she'd clearly had enough and I went into labour spontaneously at 37weeks. They decided about half seven on the Friday evening that they were going to do a section that night, but it took till the early hours of the Saturday morning for a theatre team to be free so I had about 7 hours of pointless contractions which I got less and less gracious about as time went on Wink But hey. 7 hours really not so bad in the grand scheme of things. Interestingly the midwife said although I was labouring and contracting strongly the baby wasn't in any position that would have been able to be born vaginally, which I found quite comforting really. That's also what happened last time - ministew was 2 weeks early but in a weird position. Maybe that's just how I do it.

So weird to think she's not even due for another week and she's been here 2 weeks already!

Muser · 02/04/2011 11:06

Aargh at bloodbath in the bed. Definitely one for repressing. Denial is good. Glad everything else is going well.

Pony I am chortling at the idea of having anything sussed. I'm making it up as I go. But thank you.

CUNextTuesday · 02/04/2011 12:09

Oh man I'm exhausted. I do love Rastus an all but he is so strong and so wriggly with arms like lead paddles and a voice like a foghorn. I've got muscle strain where i never knew i had muscles, I'm black and blue with face scratches that have drawn blood and i think i may have tinnitus. This is hard hard work.

OP posts:
FannyPriceless · 02/04/2011 12:26

alps I had repressed forgotten the lochia butter pack discussions. Thanks a lot for the reminder!Angry

cass I had two elective sections and it was my fear that contractions would start before my booked date. You are therefore my hero. And I'm mucho liking the 'less gracious' image!Grin

cunty While he's sleeping cut his fingernails! And here, have this soothing back massage.

We had a lovely scene this morning. All four of us in our bed, with Bonnie and Clyde giggling and tickling eachother, and morning cuddles and snuggles all round. 'Twas a beautiful scene... until Clyde suddenly vomitted a river all over the four of us and all the bedding. Will we never learn? Bonnie was howling as it was all over her and she was not happy!

So once again I feel I am buried under stinky piles of washing. And this is on top of the disaster after the bath last night when Clyde actually shat on me (not making this up). He was all lovely and clean after his bath, sitting on my lap wrapped in a fluffy white towel while I put his cream on, when suddenly... splurt. It was like carrot soup dripping all over my arms and in my lap. But I don't know, somehow it's not as bad as it sounds when it's your baby. (Not that I'm keen for a repeat of that - ever.)

Muser · 02/04/2011 12:37

Oh dear, I am having a guilty chuckle at that Fandango.

While I changed Bob at 5am she had a bit of an explosion all over me. I had to get TBG to finish her while I cleaned myself. I thought it was poo and wad very relieved to discover it was just pee. Although how a girl manages to do that I do not no. It is amazing how matter of fact you get about it though.

SilverSky · 02/04/2011 12:56

I hear ya! I think MBs new found love of exercise and shiz is why I can't shift this cold. MB not quite at Rastus' level of scratching but he's pinching. Hard.

I haz weaning question!!!! Did you gals put breastmilk in with your purees?

MB is liking his baby rice. Ate shed loads of it yesterday lunchtime.

Oh that reminds me of another question! I'm due to go to a pals next week, illness allowing, how the heck do I cope with feeding babyrice mixed with bm away from home? Or am I to be held hostage forever and a day til he's on purees?

Welcome casserole!!

Casserole · 02/04/2011 13:28

I'll never forget the strange whimpering sound Mr Stew made just after L was born, 3 years ago - I went running in to see what terrible event had occurred and there was poo everywhere. On L, on A, on the cot, on the carpet, on the furniture, on THREE WALLS.... priceless Grin.

Fanny I started out doing that whole "I really want them to like me" people pleasing thing. Then they all buggered off to an emergency leaving me with not so much as a paracetamol, never mind a sniff of gas and air. The monitor was showing the contractions shooting off the top of the graphy thing and when they came back about FIVE hours later the midwife looked at the printout, looked a bit stricken and said "Oh dear. Have you been very uncomfortable?", to which I did a very British sneery upper lip and hissed "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllll"..........

We went down soon after Grin

Anyone IRL contact with Medee ? Been thinking of her so much.

Casserole · 02/04/2011 13:30

ps cunty I hear you on the weird muscle strain thing. I have strained muscles in really weird places since having children! Had forgotten the strange contortions that BFing can sometimes leave you in if you don't think it through in advance! (which I never seem to)

CluckyKate · 02/04/2011 14:07

that sounds fabulous Fanster....morning cuddle, you can't beat them!!

Had to trudge round 3 supermarkets with the kids to source Rolos - they come in packs of 5 & recipe requires just 2 Hmm Grin.

BC slept from 12 'til 6 - what a star. He did this last Friday too so am hoping this will become a regular occurrence, esp. as I'll be on the razz with Boxer next Friday. Only downside was the enormous buzzwams and managed to express 5oz in about 30 seconds and that was after a feed [oww] Shock

Good to hear BabyStew is treating you well Cass what with the gore & stuff you have to deal with. Am finding baby no.2 a lot lot easier than PFB too (& she was pretty straightforward). Have plonked to two of them in front of BabyTV and they are both zonked out so am enjoying some peace while MrCluck plays golf.

I moved LC onto baby rice mixed with puree pretty quickly Silvio - be brave, if MB likes the rice he'll love it even more with a bit of flavour.

FannyPriceless · 02/04/2011 16:04

silv We mix baby rice / baby porridge with formula or ordinary milk. If I'm making porridge for the rest of the family I use water and milk and just give Clyde a bit of that. He also likes fruit puree mixed into it now.

I did have a friend who used to hoist up her top and 'milk' herself by hand in the kitchen while stirring BM into the baby rice, but I could never face doing manage that myself.Grin

I have placed smoked salmon and eggs prominently in the fridge. Do you think he'll figure out what to do for breakfast tomorrow morning, or should I spell it out more plainly?

CUNextTuesday · 02/04/2011 16:53

I used a splash of ornery milk too to mix up the babby rice. I was never a great one for expressing and it was criminal to open a carton of formula just to mix up rice. Try baby porridge silv (Aptimil stuff in blue box) cos you add water not milk - I assume you are feeding with a spoon right? You could mix in some petit filou or some such to liven it up a bit?
