I swear Rastus said 'help me' the other day when Hom was throwing him around.

I think my daughter has her first crush - on Mr Maker. That's two days in a row she has crawled right up to the TV when he's on. She'll be kissing the screen next. I must improve her taste in men.

PollyPoo · 27/03/2011 09:46

Could be worse Casp. It could be Mr Tumble... Or Big Cock Cook Little Cock Cook.

CluckyKate · 27/03/2011 09:58

I'd rather Mr Maker than Mr Tumble tho Curls

You're right Silv - I need to pull my finger out and get my birth story written [lazyarse].
On the pressie front - most people bought LC something when BC arrived....is thoughtful but not essential. Chocolate is fine if you hate the parents but may send the child hyper. A book/crayons/small toy would be better.

So pleased the routine is working for you Honey - makes such a difference when you're both getting some sleep. My babies seem to like routine too, as do I [control freak] and, frankly, I'm a much better person for it. As time goes by you'll get more confident about getting out and about during nap times but if it doesn't work out you now have the knowledge on how to get back on track!

CluckyKate · 27/03/2011 09:58

Ha ha - cross-post there Pols!!

CluckyKate · 27/03/2011 10:00

Actually (cluster post) CBeebies need to improve the quality of their presenters.....none of them are remotely shaggable Angry

SilverSky · 27/03/2011 10:14

ck will try and source something suitable for the pfb later today.

Looks like I'm riding later folks. Result.

Yday afternoon started at 4pm. I kid you not. We managed a coffee and pizza out plus I purchased some baby rice.

The house is a mess. A proper mess. So with that in mind I'm going to go out and meet a preggo for cake and pretend the mess won't be waiting for me when I get home.

AlpinePony · 27/03/2011 12:31

silv I'm very much looking forward to your PFB photos! Grin I'm sure he looks gorgeous.

Just back from a horrible ride - do not know what's up with my horse right now apart for a serious attitude problem. She currently has no gears between neutral and turbo fifth. Unless you count reverse and "handbrake turns". Hmm Not enjoyable and tbh I was scared. :(

Just got an sms from okie who says meet is back on at her's! yay! I will send you my new number as I've forwarded calls to my new number but it doesn't forward sms's -stoopid thing. Obv. you can fb me and I can pick that up. Should really update new number on fb that would be clever.

Soooo... if anyone needs any duty-free fags/booze or other foreign contraband (e.g., Clockhouse @ C&A Wink) - although tbh booze is generally cheaper in Tesco - please email me today. x

CluckyKate · 27/03/2011 13:08

Glue factory Alps?? Hmm

Spring has definitely sprung - my ride yesterday was rather oingy-boingy. Thought about trying a gallop canter then thought better of it.

Enjoy your ride Silverino - is super day for it!! Ignore the mess....why do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow.

SilverSky · 27/03/2011 19:22

Operation "riding my hoss" was complete success. HI did a car swap in the car park and he took MB home. Hoss was very good. Grass must be coming thru cos nag has developed cloth ears and wasn't waiting to come in. Sadly the ground is already rock hard tho if you go xc off the beaten track it's pretty decent.

Came home to find the bomb that was the kitchen mess has magically gone! HI is on good books.

Tonight will be interesting as it's light and MB is having his last feed before he hits the hay.

His latest trick to accompany the high pitched shriek is...... ..... a fake cough! Utter attention seeking. Hilarious.

SilverSky · 27/03/2011 19:23

GAH! *on - in!

Okiecokie · 27/03/2011 19:53

Yes, Wednesday round mine. Had discussion with Moo and as she is swimming and heading out of town later that day it is easier to do chez oke. Will send details on t'other place.

Just filling in the Census. Do you really think they will check the answers? I am tempted to say I am a Gypsy.

Muser · 27/03/2011 19:54

Hooray for lovely horse riding!

Question for the breastfeeding brigade, did any of you have babies who fed for an hour at a time on one boob? And did it get better? I'm just going with it, but it would be nice to think that at some point she'd speed up. If nothing else I start feeling a bit embarrassed when I have visitors!

SilverSky · 27/03/2011 20:00

muse could be an element of comfort sucking? As they get the hang of it they do get more efficient. However am sure some babies also enjoy using mummy as a dummy!

CurlyCasper · 27/03/2011 20:06

Was tempted to register baby as a gypsy okes

Just did the form online. You'd think that after I said my daughter was only born last June, they would not ask for her address a year ago. Idiots. Was tempted to write "Womb of CurlyCasper" but instead just said N/A I was not born. At least I didn't have to enter her education and work history. But did have to say what nationality she considers herself to be. No bloody idea!

medee please come and ease your undercarriage in the spa. Bloody well done on the birth and your gorgeous wee girl.

I have cake. Must eat it.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 27/03/2011 20:08

Thanks Okes! V kind!

Muse, Bob is still quite little, isn't she? (have lost track) - Clint fed for hours early on, I miss that, esp the excuse to sit and watch crap telly for hours unable to do anything else. It doesn't last, enjoy it! That goes for whole newborn phase, it really feels like a blink of an eye even a few months later.

SilverSky · 27/03/2011 20:10

cokie I've got a couple of chums who put Jedi!

Muser · 27/03/2011 20:33

She'll be six weeks on Tuesday VAG.

I do think at times it's comfort sucking when she's on and off a lot during the day. If I didn't leave the house I think she honestly would happily stay on the boob all day. But I take advantage of pauses to get her in her sling or pram and distract her. However, when she is feeding I don't want to take her off as that just distresses her or she wants back on straight away as if she's hungry. If she comes off of her own accord it's fine and I can distract.

As I said, at the moment I usually quite enjoy it. But it can be frustrating at times when I want to go somewhere and she wants to keep eating.

PerfectDromedary · 27/03/2011 20:58

Muse Did you get your latch checked? If that's fine, then I would assume all is well. Now that Berwhale has discovered how the latch works, he can be on the boob for aaaaaages. If he comes off by himself, though, I've been offering him fun playtimes as he sometimes forgets to be hungry if he's lying on his back on the changing mat - his current favourite place - and wriggling.

He had his first experience of tummy time last night. Made frustrated shouty noises while wriggling so frantically that he went backwards off his playmat. Hilair.

Muser · 27/03/2011 21:03

I did get the latch checked and had her checked for Tongue tie. Breastfeeding counsellor thought it all looked fine. And of course at the session she did a lovely 20 minute feed and fell asleep. She never does that at home!

Laughing at the image of Berwhale and tummy time. We went and bought a new activity mat today as I got all PFB about our inherited one that had busted music and lights and was very faded. Bob does much prefer her new one. But her favourite thing is to be taken into the bathroom to stair transfixed at the white tiles.

Muser · 27/03/2011 21:04

Also a massive hooray for Berwhale figuring out the latch. Are you saved from the double expresser now?

CurlyCasper · 27/03/2011 21:09

loving the Berwhale imagery drom. Sounds like you are really enjoying being a mum.

Squeaks has her first proper nursery session tomorrow (half day). And I have only just started thinking about what she'll need. (spare clothes, milk, nappies, wipes, cuddly toy, dummy for nap, teething gel). I keep expecting to get told off at the end, like a naughty child who has forgotten her gym kit.

Can those with experience please tell me if I've overlooked anything important?

Also, any tips on making the transition from bottle to cup? She has a 360 degree valve cup she'll sip water from, but I've failed so far in my efforts to get her to take a proper milk feed from one of the many cups now cluttering up the kitchen.

Okiecokie · 27/03/2011 21:10

Meds many congratulations! Just seen t'other place and your wonderful news. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you get round to visiting us in here. I love your name choice too.

PerfectDromedary · 27/03/2011 21:23

Things are deffo getting better, Muse - latch is functional and Berwhale is putting on weight. We're still supplementing a bit, but more out of laziness than anything else - doing the last feed of the day as a bottle means I can get a bit more sleep and TNB gets some decent baby time.

Curls am starting to enjoy the baby, ta! First few weeks are a bit of a haze of tears, hooking self up to various milking machines and consuming so much fenugreek that I still smell like curry. But Berwhale has made it to a month and is starting to be tres amusing and good company.

Meds Baybee! Congratulations! What is your alcoholic beverage of choice?

PollyPoo · 27/03/2011 21:29

Loving Berwhale's tummy time! My niece absolutely hated it - would balance herself on her belly with limbs in air, shrieking her lungs out, was vey amusing.
