Wow.... what a gorgeous weekend! Grin Hope evryone has enjoyed weather like we have in sunny Yorkshire.

Just wondering if people can give me an idea in amount..... like maybe how many small sized petit pots (not that actual content but just so I can visualize quantities) of food your lo's have in a day???

xxxxx

beaditAli · 10/04/2011 17:46

HI all

Ive read raising boys and like cinammon would recommend it, also read Happy Children by same author, also v. good.

Debs75 maia is only a wee one weighing it at just 13lbs, the nurse suggested i go down for weekly weighings but I polietly passed on that and have scheduled next one for 12mths. Samuel was 22lbs at the same age Shock, just goes to show shouldn´t really try and compare as even two children from the same parents can vary loads.

beadit i cant believe the pic of little jack, so glad he´s ok. That must have been really scary, a good job you whisked him off to the hospital quickly.

newmum 7 teeth, thats amazing, no wonder she´s suffering.

Went to BBQ and ended up with food poisong Sad, I blame the prawn salad. I was in bed with Maia at 7:30pm and felt crappy all day, Im gone go out for a little walk now to clear the head. Its clouded over here today and the temp has dropped to more normal spring like temps.

Hope your all having a lovely weekend. x

lumpybananapuree · 10/04/2011 20:31

Beadit Do you mean each portion or in total?? Olly has probably 1 1/2 pots equivalent each main course & 1-2 pots equivalent of pudding. What Jack having?? He's growing ok & is happy & healthy (unless you feed him egg Wink ) He'll eat what he wants.

I need to listen to my own advice. I never realised how far carrot can go when thrown with force gently into the sink! All because Olly wouldn't eat the amount I wanted him too!

newmum001 · 10/04/2011 21:03

Hahaha lumpy i did that last week, can't remember what was in the bowl but it ended up on my face, in my hair, on my clothes and on the kitchen window Grin

Grace is still suffering with her teeth and is really off her food, won't have a bottle except first thing in the morning and last thing at night and won't eat anything except yogurt (managed to get some carrot and sweet potato in her before tho) so we've just been going with the flow really and giving plenty of watered down apple juice and she had an ice pop before.

Beadit grace is funny with her eating, sometimes it's like she could eat loads and other times will only have a few spoonfuls but on average i'd say she has about 2 pots worth per main course and an actual petit filous or munch bunch for desert but she's still on 2 meals a day!

comixminx · 10/04/2011 21:36

Don't think Aphra has anything like what the others are having but it's hard to say cos it's not pureed and I don't have any petit filous around to compare with!

Aphra is also suffering with her teeth but none yet to be seen - quite - though you can tell the lumps & bumps just under the gums are going to be visible any moment now. I think she'll end up with a forest of teeth all at once! She's been pooing very infrequently but we've started giving her some more water to go with meals and she's loving it - and pooing a bit more, so maybe she did need more, though we're still only tracking to see if it's just a change of pattern.

We're off on holidays for our big travels very soon! Hong Kong for DP's brother's wedding, then Brazil to visit friends and family of mine. what a marathon with a LO! We've been planning what to pack and how to fit it in all weekend.

MammyG · 10/04/2011 21:43

Hi all
Up to high doh here. Am absolutely frazzled. Will check in again later. Glad some of you having lovely weather - all fog here!
Later gators!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/04/2011 22:59

Luke has about 1/2 tommee tippee pot for lunch and dinner plus similar of fruit/fruit and yoghurt/rice pudding beaditAli, ds1 had a whole one but was a much bigger baby and had less milk feeds. He has a cooking spoon of porridge in the morning or a weetabix (not sure exactly the size of that). Also has bits of what we are having as finger food, today he had a cauliflower floret, 2 bits of carrot, 1/2 roast potato and 1/2 yorkshire pudding as well as puree.

For anyone interested my Ofsted report is now online here.

Had a nice weekend, visited a friend and got sunburnt, did some census collecting, chilled out home with the boys and went to a birthday party. Luke can now roll from his back to his front but seems to have forgotten how to roll front to back so just cries at me!!

Dixiebell · 11/04/2011 05:42

Thanks for all the, ahem, sex comments. Drinking more wine seems to be the consensus...we're usually quite spontaneous about when it happens though...perhaps I should keep a bottle in my bedside cabinet..! Wink

beadit, Arlo has been on solids for just 4 weeks (he's 27 weeks now). he's on 2 meals a day still - breakfast he usually has porridge and fruit, about 1-2 petit filous equivalents. For lunch, slightly more of veg puree. Gonna expand the menu this week and think about introducing lumps and finger food!

cinnamon, Arlo has only ever rolled front to back but he seems to have forgotten how too! He hates being on his tummy and always cries at me when I put him on it.

Lovely weekend in sunshine. We also went swimming with DH for first time so Arlo could show off his swimming skills to daddy :)

saoirse86 · 11/04/2011 10:12

We've had a lovely weekend too. Lots of sitting in the sun (with factor 50 on of course! Smile )

I am absolutely Shock at how much your LO's are eating. I've mostly been giving Orlaith sticks of things to eat, but trying a bit of puree too. When I give her puree she'll have maybe a weaning spoonful, when I give her sticks of food she just licks and sucks it a bit then chucks it on the floor. Any suggestions for what I can give her to get her kick started on the food?

Orlaith only learned to sit about 2 weeks ago, but has now decided it's time to learn how to crawl! She can get on all fours and can go backwards but not so much forwards yet. It's just a matter of time and I'm going to be spending all my time dragging her away from things. Can't wait!! Hmm

comix that sounds amazing, how exciting for you all! Although I don't envy you on those long plane journeys.

comixminx · 11/04/2011 11:52

saoirse, we're with you on not eating much - I'm basing my not-worrying on the BLW adage about "food is for fun until they're one"! Mind you I do find that when I hold something for Aphra she eats a lot more of it - I think her co-ordination is lagging behind her appetite, which is not that surprising I suppose.

Aphra is really enjoying getting mobile, too - loves levering herself upright, is getting much further when she tries crawling. Lovely to see! Hopefully it won't cause us too much grief on the long plane journeys... Hmm

Did you see the thread on naming a daughter saoirse? I thought of you!

saoirse86 · 11/04/2011 11:55

No. DId they all say it's a weird name? Grin

Debs75 · 11/04/2011 13:24

Beadit We are having lovely weather and even thinking of a trip to Bridlington if it keeps up. We are going to Centreparcs in Cumbria over Easter so expecting rain for then.

Lucy can eat one finger sized piece of carrot, 1 floret of broccoli and 1 finger sized piece of chicken for tea. She gets offered 2 or 3 of each food but she does tend to throw a lot or only eat half of each piece. Her favourite is still a crunchy piece of toast. She was excited last night as she got some grape in her hand and in her mouth. Food is still definitely all fun here and she feeds loads off me so I'm not worried yet. Her gums are hurting her and she has a horrid cold atm, all she does is cough really bad and then sit and whine until you sit her on your knee. She is sleeping again which is nice.

Had another GRRR moment with best friend. I lent her loads of dd2's baby clothes for her dd on the understanding I got them back for when Lucy was born. I was at her house the other day and she told me she had some clothes for me. I was a bit Hmm as I only lent her upto 6 months and Lucy is now in 6-9. She handed me a huge bundle of newborn and 0-3 sized stuff. I was so mad as they obviously won't fit and I really could of done with them when she was first born.

comixminx · 11/04/2011 20:56

Debs, that sounds really annoying! Did you say anything or just swallow it in silence? I know it's easy to say at a distance that you should have had a go at her but hey!

saoirse, one or two people said they didn't like the name but more of the comment was about whether you should not use it if you weren't irish or if you weren't sure what the proper pronounciation was - cue lots of people saying "it's pronounced like this here" and it varying from place to place. Some people also said it sounded a bit too political for them because it means Liberty if I remember rightly.

MammyG · 11/04/2011 23:29

Debs SIL was telling me bout a friend of hers who, thinking she was not having any more children, gave all her baby stuff, equipment, pushchairs, clothes, bedclothes etc to another friend. 6 weeks later she found out she was actually pregnant and has since had a baby and the friend has not offered to give a stitch back! So now her baby has all borrowed stuff while her lovely baby stuff is with this other woman. How crap is that! Mind you I would have just outright asked for it back! Esp as the woman she gave it all too was only in her second trimester when the other woman found out she was pregnant! Personally I thought it was some cheek to not offer to give it back!
Saoirse I have taught a few 'saoirses' - mall pronounced differently -how do you pronounce your name? Its generally considered a very nice name over here!!
All fine here. MIL has not been well and is staying with us for a while. Very stressful few weeks, hence not popping on so often. I so desperately need a holiday and cannot afford one at all. Sometimes feel like my brain is going to explode and at the moment DH is stressed too (usually he is the calm one!) so we both want to run for the hills. Must start some positive thinking - like the secret! - Universe I need a holiday!! (a car of my own wouldnt go astray either, and someone to buy the house! Maybe a change of jobs too???)

saoirse86 · 12/04/2011 11:07

That's not too much to ask MammyG ! Grin

comix it means freedom but liberty will do! My mum's Irish, from Carlow. For her it was political but for different reasons. She gave me the middle name Mandela and I was like a living protest to Nelson Mandela being in Prison! My sister's called Aswalia because my mum saw a documentary about a woman somewhere in South Africa who was encouraging women to empower themselves in lots of ways. The woman's name was Aswalia and my mum thought she would like her daughter to have similar qualities to that woman. Smile
mammyG I pronounce it sersha but I think it depends on where your family are from and your accent. Even in the UK lots of "normal" names are pronounced differently depending on your accent so I don't see it any differently personally.

Do you think these people would have an issue with me naming my DD Orlaith as I'm only second generation Irish?! Wink

Debs I'm shocked by your friend doing that. It's almost more insulting to give you it all back when it's quite clear it's too late for you to use it. I'd be annoyed too.
I knew quite a few people who had girls before me but I didn't want to take anything from them because I thought it could cause issues. TBH I might feel a bit awkward if someone asks me for stuff in the future. Although my sister and I have so much from having the girls at the same time that we probably wouldn't miss it if we gave half away. The charity shops nearby have been inundated with baby stuff from us already. They're probably getting fed up with it now though. Hmm

lumpybananapuree · 12/04/2011 19:39

Well, I've sorted out my KIT days! I'm doing 1 day a week every other week. I'm so excited! I feel awful for saying that. I absolutely love being at home with my babies but as much as I'm a mummy, I'm also a nurse. Its in my blood!!!!

Not much to report here! just plodding along. ds1s done brilliantly with the potty. been dry for nearly a week now! Gets up in the morning, takes his nappy off & goes for a wee!

Ollys getting a bit more mobile, but only in the fact he'll go from sitting to his tummy. not rolling or crawling!

Debs thats awful!

mapletrees · 12/04/2011 20:19

Go biggerlittlebanana! Sounds like you started potty training at just the right time... I've been told if you start before they're ready it's just asking for trouble..

Big day here - it was Louis' first settling-in session at nursery Shock. I left him for an hour, and was able to sit spying on him on the cctv from the parents' room Grin. He was very excited by all the new toys to eat play with, and he was his usual little tarty self with the staff, so I think he had a good time. I was doing quite well too, until he toppled over onto his face (still not quite mastered the sitting) and I could hear him howling from the other side of the building Sad Sad Sad. I fought the urge to run straight over, and watched as they picked him up and managed to sooth him in less than a minute (felt like much longer though Sad). He had a big smile for his mummy when I went to get him at the end Smile

lumpybananapuree · 12/04/2011 20:36

Mapletrees That must've been awful! Thats the only thing I dread when I leave them that they hurt themselves & want their mummy!

Debs75 · 12/04/2011 21:16

I'm glad you agree that she has been annoying. I did point out that Lujcy would of looked nice in that a few months ago or it's a pity it's not in her size. I did however ignore the blatant hints for me to lend her larger stuff.

Poor Lucy has got a chest infection and is on antibiotics. She is very poorly and has just vomited all over me meaning a complete change of clothes for us both, eveb knickers. Hope she is better soon, we go away next Friday

MammyG · 12/04/2011 22:10

Saoirse I think its lovely you called her an irish name and the purests would be especially pleased with the spelling! My best friends name is orla so I think its lovely.
Debs Hope lovely lucy feels better soon!
My DS2 has really regressed these days. He is gone very whiney and babyish. Wanting to be carried etc and speaking so low its hard to hear him. He has been on off like this since Phoebe was born but particularly bad at the mo. Hopefully its just cause the past couple of weeks have been hectic though next few weeks not looking any better.
On a brighter note - I have a new friend! A proper one, with same sense of humour etc and even tho she doesnt have children really likes mine and has no prob with them joining us etc. I know sounds a bit sad but I live in a really small and quite isolated area so meeting new people etc is hard and breaking into existing groups impossible. (everyone is friendly etc just not in a pop in and have a chat kind of way!)

watersprite · 12/04/2011 22:49

Hi Ladies :) been mad busy and so tired as Maria-Ann still doesn't sleep a lot at night :( then over a week ago took dd1 to the park and she hit her head on one of the climbing frames and ended up with concussion. Never been so scared she was vommitting and looked an awful colour, ended up staying there in the hospital for over 6 hrs so they could monitor her. She had nearly a week of school and is back to normal now. Could of been much worse so i'm so glad there's no permanent damage.

lumpybananapuree i know what you mean when you say it's in your blood!!! it's in mine too and in a way I can't wait to go back to uni, finish my 13 weeks get my pin number and hopefully get a job! Wink

Debs hope Lucy feels much better soon!

Seachelles sounds like you had a lovely time away and it's a pitty you couldn't fit the hot tub in the car Wink

Maria-Ann 7mths I think Confused

watersprite · 12/04/2011 22:56

vomiting even!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/04/2011 07:31

Yay for ds1 lumpybananapuree!!! Glad you've got something you're happy with for work.

So pleased Louis was happy even if he did fall over mapletrees! From what I saw when ds1 was going to go there it was lovely.
Really nice to have a friend MammyG, I feel a bit of outcast because of childminding I think people aren't sure what to make of me and so are not overly friendly (or perhaps just don't like the look of
me!). I have just started chatting with the mum of one of ds1's friends from school and we get on really well and she's really relaxed about me having loads of kids in tow. There's nothing silly about having someone to chat to who you can relate to.

Fingers crossed the antibiotics kick in soon and Lucy is well again Debs75! And glad to hear your dd1 is better watersprite!

Have had a hectic few days with my extra curricular activities! Had to do loads of calculations for the preschool committee trying to work out ways to save the ladies' job but not get us into debt (which committee members are liable for!). Busy with census collection, plus last night I was asked to help co-ordinater put details on the system. I don't mind as it just means I spend less hours collecting but I'm not sure how legit it is. She gets paid a standard 37hrs no matter what and I did 3hrs with her last night, she's totally snowed under and very disorganised! She signs off my timeshare and you don't write precisely what you were doing but they do send off your workload to check who's doing what so that's 3 of my 15hrs I have no paperwork for. Still I sat in front of a computer and drank tea which made a change!

Off to see Roary the racing car at the theatre today and pizza with a friend and her little boy. We went to uni together and then randomly happened to be pregnant at the same time and our boys get on so well together it's lovely! Really hoping Luke behaves himself!!

lumpybananapuree · 13/04/2011 11:17

Well today has totally proved why no mum should ever be without a sling left in the car "just in case"! I rushed in to town this morning, nice & early to miss the crowds to just pay a cheque in at the bank! parked the car, got the ticket, went to get the buggy & buggy board out the boot & it was empty! Thanks DH! Emergency sling in its place so off we went! I would've been so mad!

Sorry to hear there's some poorly babies & glad your dd is better watersprite

MammyG I know what you mean about a friend, we had a new na start on the ward I worked on a few years ago and she was lovely. We got on really well & got really excited she was going to be my new friend! A bit too excited I think, she only did 1 shift then never came back! oops!

Cinnamon it sound like you need to slow down! you're crazy!

Got my double buggy on ebay! 15 watchers, 1 bid. It ends tonight. I'm very excited!
