So im sat here listening to D crying, i have turned the monitor down but can here him through the ceiling! Hes only been going for 5 mins but its hard. Its tired crying, why dont they just let them selves sleep.
mylife the extreme ups and downs are really difficult i think. Its hard and im afraid to say that its not enjoyable a lot of the time.........some might slate me for admitting that but im not one of these people that will say everythings rosy when its not. I tried talking to my sister about how i was feeling and se was very dismissive as if to say well u know what u were getting ur self in to. Im afraid thats where she is sooo wrong, u dont know, u have no idea, how could u as every baby is different. But after all is said and done i love him more that anything and i wouldnt be without him.
I went up after 10 mins, turned him over tucked him in, gave him his dummy and went out, he cried for another few mins but has now settled.
Im not going to take his dummy away till im happy that hes self settling, then i'll do the Gina method of dummy weaning, i think its too much in one go.

viksam · 03/03/2011 21:50

Re solids and milk, D hasnt dropped any milk yet but isnt really doing well with food. This is still one of my main worries, i dont think im getting enough down him, he refuses most things on a spoon, even if i try and get him to hold it himself. I cooked up lots of 'slop' and he wont eat any of it, his favourite thing is ellas organic pouches but at 97p a go its way way to expensive! why the hell wont he eat my slop, its just as good surly!! right im off to bed, good luck one and all heres to a good night. xx

Needle · 03/03/2011 22:44

Good luck for s good night viksam. Stick with it and it will get easier i'm sure.

Evening ladies, can't stop for long, but i'm desperately trying to procrastinate doing day three of shred. I just need to organise my teatowels into colour order first...

Woodlands · 03/03/2011 23:00

tsc I wonder about quantities too.J normally has 0.5/1 weetabix plus a corner of toast/hot cross bun plus about 3 segments of clementine for breakfast. Then for lunch he has about half a big jar/almost a whole pouch of baby food, or the equivalent of home made food - so about 120g of food. Plus maybe 1/4 of a pear and a bit of rice cake. For tea he might have half a slice of bread with homous/cheese/scrambled egg or whatever plus 3/4 of a banana mixed with yoghurt. So it sounds about the same amount as Frankie. Maybe I should start feeding him more if it would mean he'd drop the night feeds?

I want to know how to find out when the supermarkets have their baby events - that's when to stock up on baby food!

CakeandRoses · 03/03/2011 23:07

thank you mlic! i've been on cloud 9 all evening. dh thinks i'm v sad. i'm sure there will be accidents to come but now i've seen he's def ready and i haven't mucked it all up, i won't be getting so stressed about it.

tsc welcome back Grin

sounds like a good decision re work. it did sound like it would have been tough to make work with hours/child care etc.

great news about dp giving up smoking too

it doesn't sound that like you've been starving F but he is a big boy so you probably need to give him a bit more.

A has two bowlfuls of 'wet stuff' to spoonfeed herself per day and she is pretty accurate now so most of that will go down. It's prob about 2 dessert spoons of the dry baby rice or porridge mixed banana, ground almonds, fruit juice or whatever comes to hand really Grin

she then manages to get down a fair bit of finger food - it varies depending on what it is. Toast she's crap with, mainly just sucks the spread off it hence why i give her porridge at breakfast too.

Most babies seem to manage better with crumpets but she was useless with those too today but it may have been that she disliked the avocado on it.

Hope you get a good night vik

Re dropping feeds - it def seems as tho A wants to drop her after-lunch feed, i didn't offer it today and she went from 11.30pm til 4pm. Drop the frogging 3.30am one please, dear daughter!

tsc you sound like you've come to a good, solid decision. By the way, I'd pay £20 for someone to come and spend an hour cleaning anything they can manage in that time. (My house is falling to pieces under the weight of dust at the mo but I don't have the energy to do anything about it) I'd also pay £20 for someone to watch my tv and eat my biscuits so I could go out for a meal with DH.

cake yay F! :) pleased that went well for you, your priorities and 'what gets you excited' completely changes when you have children doesn't it?!

viksam did you get a decent night?

I have to say, the days where I feel I've done nothing except feed S and clean up afterwards are the days he goes longer at night. It's just so dull the whole -think-of-what-to-feed-prepare-it-spend-an-hour-watching-them-throw-it-around-the-kitchen-clean-them-clean-up-do-it-again-an-hour-later-

I made pumpkin pie with evaporated milk and while S isn't miserable at all, he's roaming the living room throwing up spectacularly every so often and giving me huge grins as he plays in it Sad back to strict no dairy again methinks. I think that might be one reason he was so unsettled yesterday...

Chulita · 04/03/2011 06:30

Has anyone else lost the 'threads I'm on' page? Really, really irritating

DesperateHousewife20 · 04/03/2011 08:09

That was most definitely the worst night 'sleep' Ive ever had.

I couldnt sleep although Dylan was, I was trying to get comfy til nearly 2am, then Dylan was sick.
I mean everything he was fed from dinnertime onwards came out. DP thinks its cos he has catarh (sp?) and that was making him gag.

It went all over his sleeping bag/ duvet/ sheet/ me/ my hair so all that had to be changed (this is at just gone 2 in the morn) he then went back to sleep but I couldnt get back til nearly 3am when he woke up, this kept happening til 7am so Ive had pretty much zero sleep.

Ack...sorry DH is he still throwing up or has that settled down? Try and grab a nap as soon he goes down for one.

mlic you must be pissed off to have bothered putting that whole sentence in bold Grin . Are you going to get out today? best thing when you're intensely irritated with the children. S was wazzing me off no end yesterday so I chucked him in the buggy and stormed off dragging L after me and we ended up having a decent time at the greengrocers [knows how to have a good time emoticon] Fingers crossed they're both lovely for you today. Hope it gets better!

tsc wondered where you had gone too!!! sounds like a great idea about the jobs and the ebay, a bloke where i used to live used to sell other peoples ebay stuff for them for 40% of the profit, eg people who cant use net or just be bothered to set up ebay, he made quite a bit, i think de cluttering is brilliant and if you make a bit of money its a bonus, what about doing carboots when they start us again selling stuff like kids clothes and old toys the things that dont sell on ebay, last year when we did one i was so jealous of the people selling baby stuff they made a killing, im hoping thats me this year Grin
chulita im still laughing at the comment i know how to have a good time!!
L slept all night, typical really as the puppy cried all night, and it escaped from the crate?? i dont know how? mlic i bet your laughing now thinking i told you so!!! Grin i kept saying to dh ive made a mistake, he said he knew he would cry at night, hes never had a bloody dog, ive never had a dog that cries at night probably missing his brothers, L really doesnt like the fact its ignoring him though!!

Spirael · 04/03/2011 09:22

They're coming to see you, MLIC? I have to walk up to the clinic today to see the HV for M's 8-10 month check. (When she's not quite 8 months yet...)

No teeth, crawling, waving, clapping or anything resembling words here yet at all. M seems to be the slowest slow-poke! Though I'm electing to think of it as 'laid back'. Grin

For average food she eats, I'll post yesterday as an example...

7:30am: Weetabix in full fat milk.
10am: 6floz bottle.
Noon: 3 fingers of cheese and about 4 tablespoons of pasta in tomato sauce.
1:30pm: 6floz bottle.
3pm: 5 lumps of pineapple.
4:30pm: 4floz bottle.
6pm: Approximately 3 tablespoons of rice, 2 tablespoons curry, a mini naan bread (though half went on the floor) and 1 yoghurt.
7pm: 6floz bottle.

Then she woke herself up at about 9pm with a copiously filled nappy. Hmm

Ack, got to get going or I'm going to be late for M's appointment! [disapperates]

wow, he is big mlic. sounds like he's doing fine.

A can only wave - no clapping, crawling or words. she makes lots of noise but nothing that sounds much like anything!

did you find the hv visit helpful?

my morning has been consumed with helping F on and off the potty or loo - which is great but....

anyway, he's done brilliantly again, 3 wees on the potty and no accidents. He's only just gone down for a nap tho as he kept wanting to go on the loo Hmm

had a crap night with A teething AGAIN so was hoping to get them down at the same time so i could have a nap. As it's worked out A went down at 11 and he's only just gone down so not sure there's much point me trying to get any sleep now.

Am braving playbarn with F in trainer pants later. i actually think he'll be fine as he seems to hold it when playing or running around - e.g. at nursery all day yday. Am taking the potty with us tho

tsc that's seriously amazing! first words (aside from mama and dada) don't usually come til 1yo. were C and K the same?

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 04/03/2011 12:22

oh and clapping and waving don't usually happen til between 7 - 9 months so no babies on this thread are 'late' with it anyway.
