Just had a look at that mei tai one, I really like it, found it for £15 on ebay so going to watch it and see if anyone else bids on it.

I was thinking yesterday how Id like a comfy sling to carry him round in.

memphis83 · 19/02/2011 09:22

oh my friend gave me one of those slings and i havent used it since he was 6 weeks old, he hates it as he cant move and see in it, she loves them and carried her 1st daughter til she was 2, maybe im not doing it right!!!?

CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 09:50

the mei tei ones looks great mlic, i'd go for one of those esp at that price. the reviews on MN are v good for it.

i only went for the R&R because my friend has one and uses it all the time for her dd and really rates it plus i loved the look of them (oh and my father was paying Smile)

dh not sure mlic will still be buddies with you if you swipe that one from under her nose! Wink

the only two i wouldn't recommend are the babasling and the baby bjorn - both are nice and easy to use for the first few months but after that they seem to actually multiply the weight of the baby and murder your back.

Well... Rella Roo seems to approve of her new room. Her Ladyship only woke up at 11.15 (df), 2amish (which was early so i was dreading the night ahead) but then 6.40am and then 9am when i went in to wake her so she wouldn't get too far out of her routine (i was asleep myself til then)

dh has taken F out for their usual sat morning breakfast in town, A and I are chilling on the bed whilst i think about the fact i ought to give her some solids for breakfast altho i'd rather like toast in bed Grin

got a doctor friend staying for the weekend so i'm storing up all the things i can ask him about the children's health - boy, he loves weekend here Wink

oh and our next-door neighbour has asked if we wan't to go and have a proper look round her house later so we can decide if we would want to take it on Confused oh and someone else has already knocked on her door asking about buying it Angry, it's someone else who already lives on this street. It seems to be quite usual here for people to just play musical houses as they need bigger or smaller ones, as they can't bear to leave the street.

dylthan why don't you sell your moby and then put the money towards a mei tei or something from ebay?

which reminds me i must sell my babasling and baby bjorn, despite being kinda crap they still sell well.

chulita and wss love the bib but do you wash every day or after every meal

why oh why isn't there a bib which incorporates a combo of the silly billyz and the pelican wipe clean front?

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:07

i think this site gives good, detailed reviews on various slings

OP posts:
Dylthan · 19/02/2011 10:09

cake I could do that but I've never sold anything on eBay so am not sure how Confused do you think the other people are serious about buying your neighbours house? Or just being nosy?

Memphis I doubt you would be doing anything wrong. I think some baby's genuinly don't like being in slings.

kkfairybrains · 19/02/2011 10:14

Just thought i better let you all know that E woke for her dummy twice during the night and before i got into her she had the dummy in herself and was dozing back off! not expecting this to always happen but to say i'm happy with this is an understatement!!

CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:15

ah, tis very easy dylthan but also v addictive! or you could just ask a friend who has an account already?

memphis does it move to the back too? if so, A hated being in the front but LOVES being on my back.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:17

i reckon they're serious, it is an amazing house. they knocked on her door to ask because they saw the removal firm moving some stuff out yesterday

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:18

wow kk that's great news!

Dylthan · 19/02/2011 10:20

Wrt slings it's really sweet at dylans nursery I've always taken bethan there in the sling and now all the little girls have started to shove their dolls up their jackets Smile you'll just see this little dolls face peeping over the top.

There is one granny there that always feels the need to comment about how she would be much better and safer in her pram Angry

It does seem to be a really odd sight here though I haven't seen one other person either in the village (no surprise) or the city using one. I think because in the past it was seen as somthing only the poor did. In fact when I was out with granny someone made a comment about how cost B looked and granny said yes but dosn't she look like a t**k Angry

CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:20

oh and A did a MASSIVE poo this morning which was excitingly very decidedly not a bf one (tho still smelt 'nice')

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:24

sorry i can't work out what t*k is Confused, am hoping you didn't mean c*t!! did you mean your own granny?!

that's really weird the perception you say people have of slings there - i would say it's probably the opposite here, if indeed there is any association with money at all.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:25

ah no, that doesn't end with a k

OP posts:
Dylthan · 19/02/2011 10:29

Yes my own granny and Nooo not the c word that would be weird coming from her.

I ment tink it's a derogatory term for a traveller here although my step FIL is from Kent and quite often uses it in an affectionate way of describing D & B it pisses me right off.

CakeandRoses · 19/02/2011 10:48

yy, tink or tinker is just an affectionate term down here afaik.

it's bugging me that people could look down on them! mad the things people will find to judge!

Just had a letter from work to say they've received my request for flexible working and it will be going to the senior techs meeting at the start of the week so I should have a desicion by the end of the week.

Oh god I feel sick I really don't want to have to go back full time I don't really want to go back at all what if they turn it down?

DesperateHousewife20 · 19/02/2011 13:20

Im from Kent Grin

Anyway my grandad used to call me a tinker poo. Its affectionate- I hope!

Chulita · 19/02/2011 14:05

mlic I love the ergo . We still put L in it when she's too tired to walk but have put S in it from very early on. It's expensive but worth every penny imo!

cake L's skin is still bad but getting better since starting the antiB's and putting her back in her hideous prescription silk pj's. We had S weighed on Thursday and he's 16lb 14 and still in 3-6 month clothes, I keep trying to get him in the next size up but they just swamp him so he's still gorgeously small :)
I wash the bibs when they get dirty (at the moment after every meal but I just rinse it under the tap to get the worst off and use the other one for the next meal, they dry pretty quickly so I use one for breakfast, the other for lunch and tea and then wash/dry overnight). And I soooo agree with you on sleeved pelican bibs!

dylthan ebay's really easy, just getting to the post office is the tricky bit for me! We've had some funny comments re slings but it's water off a duck's back to me - I like 'em, baby likes 'em so wind your neck in you old fart.

kkfairy I cried when I sold my motorbike, very tough biker style Grin hope you find a car you absolutely love!

memphis you having a better day? DH and I have a pact not to shout at each other and sometimes it's hard not to but so far in 4 years of being together we've never shouted which is lovely. We do sulk and get narky like true professionals but I can't sleep when I'm angry at him so we always make out up before bedtime. Last night we had this stupid sulk about tomato juice on the chopping board of all the dumbass things to get narky about.

And...last night S went to bed at 6pm, woke at 2.15 for a quick feed and next woke at 7.00 am Shock Grin Shock could.not.believe.it especially as he's hardly having any milk at the mo. He doesn't want to feed in the morning til about 11 or 12. He did however eat all afternoon yesterday and I was bored of sitting in the kitchen giving him stuff but he was obviously full up! What happens if a baby decides he doesn't want milk at all anymore?

This is totally baby-boasting but L has been holding a pencil/pen properly since 8 months. She got her pincer grip down pat and never held a pencil in a fist, always in her fingertips [proud] Grin

memphis83 · 19/02/2011 14:36

chulita everything is back to normal now, i never ever shout i wont lower myself!! but dh gets frustrated as i never listen and shouts one sentence and thats it, but rare he does, we never ever argued before i was pg now with my pnd its getting more often that we bicker!
cakes i havent got a clue, my friend sells all stuff like that and i used it when L was tiny when he was too small for normal slings as you curl theit legs up like a frog at 1st, he loved it then but now you have to have their legs really wide in that sort he hates it! i dont blame him its like doing the splits

I was going to say, had anyone suggested the Ergo, I know people who love them cos you can carry the baby on your back too when they're bigger.

Cake I don't wash the bibs every day. I prob do a wash every other day and put the bibs in then. If there's lots of food on, I scrape it off into the bin, but she doesn't seem to get too much on the bib.

And are you saying A goes back to sleep till 9 in the morning?????? I'm lucky if G goes to 6am. If I try to put her back to sleep after that she just cries till she wakes her older sister up. It's currently 6.15am and they are both up...

Memphis no it's not just you with slings, I never got the hang of them either. I just use the pram - ours is very lightweight.

memphis83 · 19/02/2011 18:05

wss i have a lightweight stroller for in the car but my icandy is heavy that i keep up in the house to go for my long walks with, i love it as its sturdy and i feel like he is comfy even if i walk miles with him in it, i walk to the local shop for milk in the sling and im dying and i feel like L has clawed half of my face off

DesperateHousewife20 · 19/02/2011 18:58

I won the mei tai sling for £21 inc p+p Grin

DP is watching saw 6 so Im hiding MNing.
