Spring Glad DD is getting sorted.

Thanks Mocking, I guess in a way I'm worrying about it as in the back of my head I know I'll be going back to work in July. I know DS will be a totally different baby by then in relation to food and milk I just can't help but wonder what the hell I'll do if he isn't.

DS is doing well, he's a bit of a bread fiend so I'm trying to vary it up a bit with pitta etc and making sure he gets something different for tea. Tonight he had pesto pasta with baby sweetcorn.

I'm going to try fish with him next week, I was getting myself into a bit of a tis about it (I can't eat the stuff so have never cooked it in my life) but someone mentioned fish fingers which could be a solution. I did check them out in the supermarket and had a good old look over the salt content and they looked ok. I'm going to get some low salt stock cubes and restock the herb drawer so I can make my own sauses. I may even buy some lentils to make lentil something or other.

I did wonder about the faff of it all but my friend told me to batch cook it and then freeze them so I can just shove them in whatever I'm cooking.

I think I need a whiteboard in my kitchen to keep track of these thoughts.

Oh dear, all going a bit wrong here again. Yesterday I had a really good day but possibly overdid it a bit. Cue massive panic attack in the evening, shaking, diarreah, nausea, lightheadedness and inability to focus. It took me hours to settle. I've done next to nothing today, slept quite a bit and watched my dad cleaning up around me. The same nearly happened this evening - I couldn't eat at all as I felt so sick. I was more prepared to fight it and did prevent another full blown attack. I am feeling very sad and sorry Sad. I feel like I'm falling apart.

DuchessTyOfNorthampton · 27/04/2011 21:39

Oh spring, im so sorry you are feeling so crap :(
Panic attacks are terrifying and i really feel for you.
(((hugs)))

tiredfeet · 27/04/2011 21:43

Oh spring how horrible. Panic attacks are awful. I really hope you are able to get some rest and relaxation time

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 27/04/2011 21:53

Oh Spring you poor thing, I hope things get better. (((hugs)))

shieldbug · 27/04/2011 22:16

hello all! have just caught up again.

Spring glad to hear the op was ok but sorry it was so tough afterwards. please take it as easy as you can and let others do things for you. well done for managing the 2nd panic attack. It doesn't sound like you are falling apart; quite the opposite, You sound very strong and determined and tbh I'm really impressed that you are coping with all that has been thrown at you recently.

tomorrow Harry is 6 months. wow.

SpringFlowers · 28/04/2011 08:34

Thank you everyone. The evenings seem to be very difficult for me at the moment. We had a good night though and this morning I feel much brighter. I had panic attacks first after I had meningitis and I really thought that horrid part of my life was in the past. I have found myself not only dealing with the actual symptoms but also the disappointment that I am back there again. DH will be home this afternoon so I will now have four days of help and support.

How much food are your babies actually eating? Breastmilk is definitely the main source of food still, is that the same for everyone else? I probably do five feeds in the day (between 5am and bedtime) and then a few overnight. I feel that we are settling back into a sleeping routine which is good. R has three sleeps a day - at about 8am, 11am and 2pm. I think she sleeps for about four hours.

Hope everyone is well, what do you all have planned for tomorrow?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 28/04/2011 08:48

Morning!

Spring well done for managing the panic attacks- it must be horrible for you. Re food. Sometimes DD is dead excited for food and other times not that fussed. She's on the same amount of milk feeds on the basis that milk is most important so her feeds are roughly 7am, 10am, nap, feed around 1300, 1600, 1830 then once or twice in the night. Solid food is incorporated around those times so breakfast an hour after the 7 am feed, something an hour after her post nap milk feed then something at 1700 before bathtime at 1800.

DD has a hip x-ray this afternoon to see if her hips are ok since being out of the harness. fingers crossed.

HarrietJones · 28/04/2011 09:08

Similar amount of milk feeds here Spring/mocking. Plus 2-3 solid feeds. She's not that interested in breakfast.lunch is ok but tea is the big meal & asks for it about tea time or if she sees dh cooking she asks for her chair. No one(dd2) can leave the table til age is finished though or she stops

SpringFlowers · 28/04/2011 12:30

Breakfast is more of a struggle here too. Yesterday I fed her milk at 6am, she slept from 8-9 and when she woke I offered breakfast. That was more successful. She doesn't seem to really like breakfast foods so much though. Dinner time is tricky for us time wise. R is ready to be asleep around 6/6.15 and I can't seem to extend it. She ends up having dinner on her own as it's too early for the rest of us - DH isn't even home. Anyone else with timing issues?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 28/04/2011 13:39

Breakfast is THE meal of the day here and is greeted with great excitement. Lunch has just been refused which was red peppers, sweet potato and tomatoes. However, raspberries, banana, some pitta bread and some dried apple was very much appreciated.

NoHunIntended · 28/04/2011 14:50

SF, glad your DH is home soon to take care of you. Be good to yourself

Lots of BFing here still too - feels like the same amount pretty much as before. He mostly experiments with his food, tastes it, some goes in, not loads - really not concerned at this stage - feels about right.

Am in Scotland now for a few days, lonnng journey up on the train from London, during which time DS did not sleep, little rascal.

HarrietJones · 28/04/2011 15:50

Mocking- that lunch sounds perfect for dd3 she loves all those!

floozietoozie · 28/04/2011 18:13

My neighbour had a baby girl last night. Sooo pleased for them. Pretty quick too. They already have a nearly 3yo son. She was having contractions in the garden while I was talking to her.

Spring, hope you feel better this evening.

Out tonight and fearing the worst with ds as he had a disturbed night then didn't wake till 10.15.....

HarrietJones · 28/04/2011 19:35

We had an awful night. Dd3 wouldn't go down. Just sobbed. Then I wasn't allowed out of sight. Same today. Ok if she with me but anything else leads to sobbing. She's never cried for more than a few seconds unless she was ill. I'm wondering about teeth as she has got lumpier & v red dribbly face!

tiredfeet · 28/04/2011 19:41

Glad you are doing a bit better spring. And glad your dh will be home for the long weekend

Hello sheild nice to hear from you!

Ds has a breast feed on waking, mid morning, sometimes at lunch, mid afternoon and then at bedtime, plus a varying number overnight. We tend to have a snack while ds has his evening meal, as struggle to get organised to cook our main meal with him every day.

I got offered the lawyer job!! Can't believe they want to employ me Shock . They need me to start urgently but have agreed I can do a gradual increase. Now just need to find suitable childcare, and convince them to let me work only four days a week (just can't face leaving ds full time. He probably wouldn't mind but I would miss him!). Went to look round a nursery today and ended up crying afterwards, the staff seemed ok but the rooms were so small, no indoors space for ds to tear around in at all, and there were a couple of children just stood crying and being ignored. I am sure not all nurseries are like that though, in fact its probably the reason that one had spaces when not many did.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 28/04/2011 19:43

Nohun How did you manage on the train? Did you take your stokke?

We're the same re milk feeds, I'm not too bothered about what goes in at the moment. DS is a bit of a bread fiend though, loves the stuff. I think he'd eat it all day if I let him.

I sent DH to the shops to get me a Royal Wedding Biscuit Tin as I'm going to a friends house to watch it tomorrow. He came back with clotted cream fudge. I wanted a biscuit tin damnit! [chmm]

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 28/04/2011 19:44

TF Have you thought of a childminder, there should be a childminder network or something on childcare.co.uk that might be suitable if you don't like a nursery.

tiredfeet · 28/04/2011 20:24

We're going to call some childminders too, but for some reason there's not many round here. I don't mind which I just want somewhere I can imagine ds having a nice time. Dh going to take him one day a week though, he keeps referring to it as his 'day off', he'll learn Grin

shieldbug · 28/04/2011 20:33

congrats tf I have an image of you as a hot-shot lawyer now.

In terms of feeding, ds has milk upon waking (usually somewhere between 7 and 8) and sometimes breakfast at about 10 (he has started eating porridge with apple puree). We then have lunch at 1ish, which consists of a puree or two and baby rice mixed with boob milk. He usually scoffs the lot. We then have afternoon milk and then an evening meal, which is the same as lunch, but different purees iyswim. Again, he eats it all. He then has about 3 feeds before the morning. He used to sleep through the night, but seems to be hungrier now we have started to wean him. I haven't tried him on bread yet, but will do so soon. Everything I have tried so far, even lumpy porridge has gone down a treat. Banana is the current favourite.

HarrietJones · 28/04/2011 21:03

Woohoo TF Grin congratulations. Have you asked on the CM board on here or netmums?

Dd3 went down ok tonight but just woke again & dh has gone to settle her as she just wants feeding from me. Think she's got hungrier in last few days ,im engorging again.

NoHunIntended · 28/04/2011 21:09

Well done, tf. Hope you can balance things to your satisfaction.

Tribble, no pram, we had him in the sling. Was a very long day, and never nice changing his nappy in a public restroom, let alone one on a train, but ok.

NoHunIntended · 28/04/2011 21:45

shield, nice to see you!

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 28/04/2011 22:26

Nohun Wow! I admire you I really do, was the train toilets the ones with the changing table that opens over the loo (virgin trains)? If so I feel your pain, that was just plain arkward.

HarrietJones · 29/04/2011 08:50

Arrrggghhh no one can leave the room without dd3 crying. All just been in our bed & as someone left she sobbed. She's cried all night too unless I was holding her. Got guests this weekend too.
