Thats not good HJ. It must be something in the air as DD has moaned a lot of the day too...I blame DH. DD is a very light sleeper (all this guff about getting them used to loud noises when they sleep is rot. They're either a light sleeper or not!) and she went down for her normal 1030 nap on our bed surrounded by pillows. The bedroom is above the sitting room and DH opened the french windows calling the dogs, then slammed the door shut. We have a video monitor and I watched DD startle then of course wake up. I haven't been able to get her back to sleep, she's grizzly as a result. Currently in her highchair sucking on apples, a piece of cucumber and some dried apple. Reasonably content now, but she looks shattered.

HarrietJones · 29/04/2011 16:02

Resorted to calpol now . Her eczema is worse round her chin too.

Got sleepover tonight & friends coming tomorrow!

HarrietJones · 30/04/2011 18:19

ideas?

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 01/05/2011 14:36

hj how's dd3 today? Did you get sorted at all?

HarrietJones · 01/05/2011 14:56

She's a lot more herself. Rough night not being able to let go of her though.still got loads of scaly patches. Very chompy so still hoping it's teeth.

TyIsAnob · 01/05/2011 18:15

Congrats tf
Sophies favourite brekkie is oatibix with mushed banana.
My laptop has a virus atm so I'm lurking more than posting.
:)

NoHunIntended · 01/05/2011 23:54

Tribble, yes, Virgin Trains, with the horrible changing table over the toilet, at about five foot high! I mean, good for your back I suppose, but a bit scary. Was again exceedingly hot in the carriages, a/c had broken. Horrid. Got back a few hours ago, was a lovely trip, but the journey is exhausting.

HJ, well, I actually don't think it's too alarming at this stage that the little ones cry when we leave - they are still so young. So I wouldn't be concerned - she is just letting you know she needs you. Hope the eczema clears up though. I am of the opinion that humans are not meant to have the dairy of other species - many doctors attribute eczema to dairy intolerance - have you considered this? I think wheat can be a bit dodgy for some people too. The other things to be wary of are the toiletries you use (we only use stuff that is SLS/paraben free), and washing powder (we use EcoBalls).

I might not be online much for the next two weeks - have my cousin from Australia coming tomorrow night - her, her DH and their three daughters (8, 5, 3). So eight of us, in a two-bed apartment! Squeezy but fun! :) I think the girls will totally be all over DS. Anyway, I'll be entertaining/clearing up/cooking etc, and don't envisage much free time to MN! But I'll be back!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 02/05/2011 06:00

Congrats onthe job TF! Well done :)

Nohun - enjoy your visitors. I'll be interested inhow you get in as we will have to do similar in July-survival tips needed Grin

Hj- I hope LO anxiety settles. I'm have a real problem with dd wanting to cosleep, and not settling unless hugged tightly. On one hand v lovely, but on the other hand exhausting whenshe wants to play or wakes when I'm out the room with Ds or TRYING to spend time with dh!! Im guessing teeth playing up?

2 teeth through now and a slight bum shuffle-no sign of crawling but plenty of clambering! Ds toiletrained-am amazed we did it whoop whoop!

The thought of returning to work fills me with dread, I'm going to have to get My cv out v soon :(

Sorry I'm not around much trying to kick my mn habitant I used to mn mostly during our (numerous) feeds which are now down to 4 e24hrs, stiffbfing-into the easy bit :)

HarrietJones · 02/05/2011 07:45

v bad night. Even sobbing when I was cuddling her. Bouncing this am though. Rash almost gone so I'm blaming the wipes but there's something else up.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 02/05/2011 13:47

HJ Have you been to the Docs yet?

Seashells I know what you mean, I hate the thought of it too.

NH Have fun with your guests.

HarrietJones · 02/05/2011 15:09

Going to try to see our own tomorrow. Skin a lot better, some of the clingy is normalish but just need to see if it teeth or something else. Keeps pulling at ears so worth getting those checked.

floozietoozie · 02/05/2011 21:25

Hj I've got a Klingon here too. Lots of crying. Hope dd3 better re eczema.

Hope you've all had nice bank holiday weekends. We were supposed to be going to see dp's family today fo a couple of days. His niece has had a ds who's a few months younger than dd and we were gettin together at dp's brother's (2.30 hour drive/train away) with their sister, niece and baby for the first time. That was until ds started throwing up this morning. After only getting his first ever stomach bug a few weeks ago he sure timed the second one! Poor love. So I'm now going with dd for the day tomorrow instead on the train. It's really hard for dp's dsis and dn to get away as they run a pub which they've closed for tomorrow to ome to see us. As they live about four plus hours drive away we always meet in the middle at their brother's house. Hoping the journey will amuse dd as it's going to be a LONG day otherwise! My plan is that she'll sleep in the pram in the evening coming home so hopefully it's only the morning journey I have to worry about. I'm not feeling amazing myself but not sick so hopefully will be ok to do it.

NoHun good luck with all the rels in the flat!

HarrietJones · 02/05/2011 21:43

Good luck tomorrow on the train!

Dd3 ok all day until bed time. Woke crying before them threw up. asleep now but I can't put her down.
She's also getting narky if dd1/2 aren't in eyesight. Dd2 gets yelled at for playing with her own toys. Especially dolls which dd3 seems to think they are real...

HarrietJones · 03/05/2011 07:29

Much better night. Slept next to me but no clinging.

SpringFlowers · 03/05/2011 09:30

Sorry you're having a tough time HJ, sounds like you might be over the worst of it now.

Serious poo problems here. One tiny poo since last Tuesday and one very unhappy baby. Have stopped all solids and back to breastfeeding only. She had started to refuse and I didn't think it was helping the poo situation.

HarrietJones · 03/05/2011 09:41

Poor dd Spring. Its not worth upsetting her & risking her going off food is it. Just go with her lead for now. She might spot your food & ask anyway?

V quiet here again dh at work, dd1/2 back at school, dd3 feeding. Clingy a bit this am but it's more normal IYSWIM she just windged over breakfast but she's just done a huge poo so I think it was that.

shieldbug · 03/05/2011 15:58

On the poo front, is it normal for poos to become less frequent whilst weaning? Ds has done one in 3 days, but doesn't seem to be in distress at all. Given that he used to produce legendary nappies (someone told me today that the phrase "to do a Harry" has been coined in their household to indicate a SERIOUS nappy with leakage), this is something of a new situation in the bug household, and we're not sure if we should be worried or not.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 03/05/2011 18:42

bug I'm glad you asked that, I'm waiting for the inevitable explosion as well.

SpringFlowers · 03/05/2011 19:55

I saw the health visitor today and she said the best way to make sure poos happen is to keep baby well hydrated. In my case reverting to breastmilk should do the trick. Had she been eating food I would have needed to give plenty of drinks. Watered down prune juice or orange juice were also mentioned although I think you have to be careful with orange juice. With my other girls I found for each of them a constipation remedy - for one it's raisins and the other apricots. It is normal for there to be changes to poo habits when weaning. Food is totally different to digest and it takes getting used to. Maybe we should start a poo log to compare weaning poo habits Grin.

HarrietJones · 03/05/2011 20:16

poo still normalish here.

Dd3 discovering drinking to wash down a meal. Fish was too dry for her at tea so I got her a cup of water. Sip sip tip laugh . New cup. Sip sip tip laugh. New cup. Sip sip tip laugh. Oops doidy cup not my friend tonight!

sanam2010 · 03/05/2011 21:03

Hi all, just wanted to say hi, never made it to this thread though I've been active on other threads. DD1 was born in Oct 10 and almost 7 months have flown by, I am back to work next week and am just easing her in at the nursery, it is heartbreaking.

jumping in on the poo topic (what better way to know each other :-) ?), DD1 still poos 2-3 times a day, can't wait for her to do one in 3 days only like other babies!! I think she'll have more solids and maybe also formula in nursery so I think it will change soon.

anybody in London? lookforward to chatting with you all about how DCs are getting on, it seems at the moment they change every day!

tiredfeet · 03/05/2011 21:04

hj that's what ds does with his drink of water too, he thinks its hilarious!
He also thinks its hilarious to pull himself up on his cot bars while I pretend to not be looking

Need to ask dh about poo, thinking about it I haven't changed a poo-y nappy for a few days but I keep making dh do the morning ones so I can have a lie in (well we have been away in devon for my birthday present)

Floozie did you make it to see your family today? Hope it went well

They have agreed to me doing new job 4 days a week so I have accepted. Its too good a chance to restart my career which will make such a difference to our lives. We have found a lovely nursery, lots of rooms for them to move around, a lovely warm atmosphere, big gardens and a big park across the road and I just felt like I could trust the people to look after him. Dh will look after ds for two half days a week so he will just do three days in total there. I know its for the best but I have still done a lot of crying today, I love ds so much he's so funny and amazing, I miss him when he naps even.[Sad]

tiredfeet · 03/05/2011 21:11

Sanam x posts! Welcome to the thread Smile How's the settling in to nursery going? Any tips/ suggestions? I haven't left ds for more than an hour, so dreading that bit although I expect he will cope a lot better than I will!

sanam2010 · 03/05/2011 21:22

tiredfeet, settling into the nursery not going well so far, the first two days she was tired, the third day I made sure to go only after a nice long morning nap, but even then she cried the whole time until I picked her up. Today I left her 3 hours and the good thing is even my DD1 doesn't have energy to cry for 3 hours, so at least she did nap for 30min and even play a bit, didn't drink her milk though. Tomorrow 4 hours and I'll gradually increase over the next days as from next Tuesday she'll be going 5 days a week 10h a day :-(. At least that way I think she will settle in fast, complete immersion!

At least, like you I am very happy with the nursery, the staff is lovely and the toddlers roaming around there are really happy and active. I think only the first months are tough, especially for babies used to relaxing, napping and hanging out with mummy!

I was crying a lot last week too by the way, this week I am a bit better as I think my daughter will be fine in a couple of weeks, but it is very sad, but what can we do? I tell myself on the short term of course DD wants to hang out with me, but on the long term I think it might be good for her to have a working mum, let's see how it goes!

shieldbug · 03/05/2011 22:43

Poo log entry here (!)- dh took ds round to his nana's and apparently there was a small but solid contribution. I'm trying him with water but he only takes tiny amounts. I offer him the boob after every feed though and he usually drinks for a while, so I imagine that must give him a fair amount of fluid.
