We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

Just popped a pic of Saskia on to show how much she has grown! Can't see yours Bubba

HubbaHubbaBubba · 10/05/2011 21:46

Soooo sweet travis! What a cutey!

I've now made my public but can't seem to upload my most recent one of The Boy, but still some on there for you to see.

Fuzzywood · 10/05/2011 22:15

Oh lovely pics ladies. I must take some more of the little big man tomorrow and put them up. They're all getting so big, not newborns anymore .
We have the same trouble with the bumbo Bubba so I have to sit with him in case he launches himself out of it. We had a rubber ring thing but I can't find it, will have to check with SIL to see if I gave it back to her as I think it would be useful. Ev just wants to be more upright to see what's going on.
What did you reckon the the Apprentice then? Usual mixture of huge egos! Have to say Edward did come across as a bit of a prat. Was determined not to get into it this year but I'm half hooked already damn it!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 10/05/2011 22:26

DH and I had to pick an evictee within ten minutes. I picked Edward within 4! :o :o

Can't help but get hooked to things like The Apprentice - love it! :)

gallicgirl · 11/05/2011 11:38

Hi all

Sounds like our little ones are getting a lot more mobile. DD managed to fall roll from front to back yesterday. Not sure if it was intentional so will have to see if she repeats the performance today. She is also getting a lot more vocal with lots of squeaks and squeals.

Got her weighed yesterday and she was a massive 6.25 kg and has gone above the 50th centile. We went to the docs too about her reflux and saw a new doc. He was a lot better and actually went to the effort of examining her and discussing treatment options with us. he also said that if the reflux doeesn't settle down in 2-3 weeks he'll refer us to a paediatrician so I feel a lot more reassured that things might get sorted.

For those who are thinking of putting their LO in nursery, how old will they be? We viewed one yesterday and it was lovely but the manager did say that they've had babies as young as 6 weeks. Shock I feel bad for leaving her at 9 months!

RunningKatie · 11/05/2011 12:18

Loving the pics of the babies, I'm just checking in quickly as I have the invasion of the NCT mummies at 2pm. I have made chocolate orange muffins but think they aren't very good, I might have to quality check another one before they arrive.

Took DD to the hospital again, she had 8 blood pressure readings on two different machines and the conclusion was it's still too high. So, then she's had to have blood tests and urine tests, and we've got to take her for scans on her heart and kidneys. She's still such a cheery little poppet and has now hit 11lbs, so is happily on the 9th percentile. I'm trying hard not to fret about it.

Loving the Apprentice too, DP is away tonight so I can watch it in peace! :)

HubbaHubbaBubba · 11/05/2011 15:43

Oh Running I'm not surprised you're fretting but do all you can not to - the wait to find out if or what is wrong is always worse than it should be. Hope the NCT ladies were nice and not too competitive - the muffins sound yumsh! :)

I've been asked to go along to a Supernanny filming thing, last minute, at DD2's nursery tonight, but it's from 8-9pm and guaranteed to overrun - so would miss The Apprentice (and it's just not the same on i-player!!). WWYD?

runnning hope you get the scans etc soon so you don't have long to fret. I know it will be hard not to.

hubba your gown is beautiful and looks quite siilar to mine other then the sleeves. I'll put pictures on after Sunday.

Kali is rolling onto her side but doesn't seem to interested in going all the way just yet! We have had her in the bumbo today she wasn't too bad and tolerated it for about 15 mins, she does have very good head control though.
She loves her door bouncer though and quite happily bounces about for half an hour when she is in the mood - very cute!

Loving the new pics, we do have some very gorgeous babies Smile

Crysalis · 14/05/2011 10:01

hi all!

Apologies for radio silence.

travis fab news about your DH's job. sigh of relief i expect!

katie so sorry to hear Isobel has been a bit poorly and hope they get to the bottom of the cause soon and she'll feel better.

everyone

lovely to hear all the growing-up stories, though it is definitely Sad sob to think they aren't newborns anymore! I'm going to add a couple of new pics and go have a look at yours too.

Hope the christenings go well. I'm having a Naming Day in the Summer which I hope will be a jolly good party!

DS is still rolling front to back but can't go all the way round. He also wants to sit up, but can't without wobbling and then falling over. His new trick is to push down hard with his feet when he's tired to wake himself up, which means lots of tired yowling from him. He's not really been a crying baby much so the last few days have been a bit wearing. He is also teething! Off to the doctors next week, as they are discussing early weaning!!! not ready for that at all!

i'll get him weighed then, but two weeks ago he was weighing in at 12lbs 7oz, so happily chuntering along the 25th centile. however, he's suddenly grown massively in length and head circumference. Is this the beginning of the 16 week growth spurt?

HubbaHubbaBubba · 14/05/2011 11:47

Hiya chrysty yes, I blinkin' well hope it's the start of the next growth spurt as The Boy has been waking for a feed every 2-3 hours again for the last four nights. [still very tired emoticon] He'd lulled me into a false sense of security in the previous couple of weeks of going from 11pm to 4am with only a few dummy-plug yells in between (which was impressive for him and a luxury for me).

Who is discussing early weaning?? As far as I'm aware, it's nothing to do with size of baby (either direction), more the age because of the development of the digestive tract. Also a head wobbler is not ready for weaning.

Hope all goes well with Kali's christening tomorrow LadyB - we're waiting ages for ours. Naming Day party sounds fun - we had a big party with DD1 but are doing a smaller affair (just relatives and Godparents) with L's.

Anyone else's baby permanently got his fist in his mouth (read 'her' for the girlies, obv!)? Poor L is like a frenzied beast if it slips out - and he actually sucks his knuckles red!! :o

Crysalis · 14/05/2011 13:53

HV talking about weaning, as ds is teething - eating his fists all the time (so yes, DS does too!), red cheeks, drool etc. I said not yet!

sleep patterns are changing here too, but for the better. he's sleeping in early evening now for 3 hours, as well as his two 4 hour sleeps overnight - he's much happier for it.

been out this am, but am now going to cuddle on the sofa with a movie. can you do the same bubba? if not, then surely Daddy would like to take everyone out for an afternoon so Mummy get some relaxing time? Grin

LadyBuzz · 14/05/2011 16:52

Kali has her fists in her mouth ALL the time cue everyone i meet telling me I am starving my child Grin I am not, she is not hungry or you would know about it!
I think she is starting with the teething too she must drool pints down her front and is constantly soaked through.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, we are having a big party cause its going to be our last Sad and we have a ridiculously large family!
I have been mad busy this morning doing the buffet.
The cake has just been delivered - it is fabulous, i will put pics on after tomorrow when its set up properly.

Off now for niece to do my nails and SIL to straigten my hair - I am so not ladylike when it comes to that sort of thing Grin

Enjoy your weekends everyone!

gallicgirl · 14/05/2011 18:47

Alys has had her fists in her mouth for a couple of weeks to the point where she makes herself gag. No signs of teething though so I think it's more that she's discovered her hands and is developing better motor control.

Hope your party goes ok Ladybuzz. Sounds like fun.

Fuzzywood · 14/05/2011 21:25

We've got a fist chomping drool monster here too. Still no sign of teeth though. His current favourite trick though is blowing raspberries which he does for ages some days.
Hope the christening and party go well tomorrow LadyB.
Right off to wash the baby puke out of my hair

RunningKatie · 14/05/2011 21:53

Hope tomorrow goes well LadyB

Another hand chomping drooler here, she's fast asleep on DP at the mo, can't believe that when the Eurovision song contest was on last year I knew I was pregnant and was hiding my Schloer from my friends so they'd think I was on the wine! :)

We're off on Tues for the scan on her kidneys, still keeping optimistic about it all. Today we took her on a bus for the first time, another thing to record in her baby book.

Oh bless her JJKM, Evan is much encouraged by his big sister to blow raspberries. Just waiting to see what she teaches him next.
Really busy weekend here so looking forward to a quieter day as DD is at nursery. We had a family swimming trip yesterday, Evan absolutely loved it so I must get my arse in gear and take him more often.
Right must get on with yet more washing, where the hell does it all come from Confused

travispickles · 16/05/2011 13:46

Hi all! Goodness, amazing how time seems to be flying - sorry it's been so long. I have been reading about your little ones, so impressed with all the progress. I was thinking Saskia wasn't making discernible progress but just been on a loooong walk and she was getting grumpy and I realised she was trying (and making an impressive effort using stomach muscles very unlike her mother's) to sit up. So she isnt just lying there like a buddha is making some effort! Anybody else started thinking about weaning? I just went to Boots and while in there bought some baby rice, weaning spoons, bibs (a thermometor, another bloody nailclippers, etc etc anyone else amazed at how much stuff you need/ end up buying??) I have found a reasonable nursery (went to a couple of horrors first) to start her in September but will need to have weaned her off the boob at lunchtimes and so far she hasn't taken a bottle since the first week. Stressing a bit about the food thing - BLW? Seems very time consuming and caan't imagine nursery will do it. Or should they? Any thoughts very welcome on the whole nursery thing/ weaning thing...

HubbaHubbaBubba · 16/05/2011 14:45

I did mixed, but mostly baby led weaning with DD2, but almost by mistake/virtue of her having to slot in to the family a bit better. She loved it and was very keen to join in family meals and nursery were open to whatever method we had chosen (although she was a bit older when she first went to nursery). Most decent nurseries should do what you do at home - give them a call and ask, I'd be surprised if they didn't, although what Saskia can do in four months' time will be quite different from now, so try not to stress about that bit yet.

If you can be arsed and are planning on doing puréed food, then get cooking now so you can start stocking up and freezing things. My DDs loved sweet things like parsnips and butternut squash etc (I'd never had the latter before babies!). Ice cube trays are great for 'first tastes' etc), although it's still a couple of months away until we really need to start.

Poor wee man has a slight temp today - I'm putting it down to possibly teething, and he and I are now covered in calpol thanks to my dexterity and his wriggling! :o

gallicgirl · 16/05/2011 17:13

Although I'm looking forward to weaning in the hope reflux will stop, I'm still working on getting the milk bit right before worrying about solids! It's another 10 weeks or so off yet so lots of time.

The nursery I visited said they would follow whatever routine we had at home for babies so I imagine that includes feeding methods. They talked about messy play and potty training and weren't fussed about spills so I imagine BLW wouldn't be an issue either. I guess it's one of the questions you can ask to help you decide on a nursery.

oo hubba Isn't calpol horribly sticky? Hope he feels better tomorrow.

It must be a relief when Saskia does something new travis. Just think, before long she'll be rolling all over the place and grabbing things and you'll be longing for the days when she just lay there and you didn't have to worry.

Fuzzywood · 16/05/2011 17:23

Having a moment, Evan is too long for his pram so I'm going to have to turn it around into a pushchair facing away from me. Where is my baby going
Hope L is better soon Bubba.
Any good nursery should feed as requested. Mess doesn't bother our nursery at all DD always comes home covered in loads of crap paint, sand, water, whatever they've been rolling around in that day.
Must dig out my ice cube trays and food blender soon for weaning, now that's where the mess starts!

LadyBuzz · 16/05/2011 18:46

bubba hope L is better soon.

DH still has a job - Yay i'm over the moon!

I did purees with DS1 and BLW with DS2, both were fine but BLW is maybe a little bit easier as they just get stuck in themselves, if not a bit messier, I have some lovely pictures of Spaghetti ALL over DS2!!

The christening was lovely, Kali was a little angel and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, we were all shattered last night though!

travispickles · 16/05/2011 21:51

Fab news about the job Ladybuzz - such a relief, eh?
