Here we go, down the slippery slope of parenthood. Slippery thanks to the poos, wees, leaky boobs and goodness knows what else :o :o

We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

Okay, just uploaded some pictures of my dS [proud mummy emotion] :)

saltnvinigarcrips · 08/02/2011 23:45

Aww jjkm I hope you get your wish. it will probably feel like the longest week though. Can't believe you had them so long ago now! They and you have really been put through it by the sounds of it. Fingers crossed their eyes are all well and good (fingers crossed emotion).

travispickles · 08/02/2011 23:51

Wow gorgeous Salt... so adorable!

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 09/02/2011 08:56

Sweet little thing salt - love the hat with the two ear/bobble things!!

Lachlan is back in my bad books - he fed every 1.5 hrs throughout the night :( :( - for about 15mins each time. And poor little thing has a gunky eye :(

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 09/02/2011 09:13

salt he is also gorgeous, what a lovely bunch of babies we have Grin

jjkm fingers crossed for you getting your babies home with you.

bubba poor lachlan both of my boys had gunky eyes alot when they were little and still do when they get a cold. Poor little lamb.

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 09/02/2011 09:49

MW just been; He's continued to lose weight :( MW doesn't seem too worried but it would be nice to know he's gaining rather than losing weight.

OP posts:
Fuzzywood · 09/02/2011 10:11

Salt he's just adorable.
JJKM hope you get your girls home soon, must be so tough for you, sounds like they're improving though.
Bubba sounds like a tough night hope you manage to get some rest today. Rubbish night here too but not because of Evan. DD decided that it was party time at 4.30, little tyke is still asleep in bed, I need to get her up for nursery but taken a few minutes to mn and actually have a decent length shower which was bliss.
Right better wake the grumpy lady up!

Wow - managed a mini catch up.... well only on this thread.

salt - and travis - adorable pics! Really cute - saskia has AMAING eyes and lvoe Henry's elf suit too!

Jesse fast asleep - had bad sleeping last night - but amazing midwife came round at 4 and explained about my milk coming in and how DS needs to get to proper end of feed - she was very funny and said think of it like licking your plate at end of meal - ad if you don't do it - you don't feel you've finished properly so might want to start again. So now understand i cna't be too impatient - otherwise you end up having to feed every 50 mins throughout the night- getting 2 hours total sleep and begging for just 1 minute extra!

rock so sorry all not going well - agree that you shouldn't beat yourself up... and pleased that you have lots of support.

bubba hope lachlan start's putting on his weight again.... i'm sure he'll be fine, but if you are worried, ask him to get checked out. Does he seem healthy to you and feeding well?

JJKM - i almost cried when i read your ironic statement - it's so Sad sad that your darling girls are still in hospital, but at least they are gettng better by the day - and imagine how AMAZING it'll be to have them home.

Thngs with my mum are a bit fractious.. i think i upset her by mentioning she shouldn't cuddle baby stright after goigng out for a cigeratte.. and then she's moddy ever since. I know i'm moddy and grumpy - and have apologised, but she's not accepting it. atmos is frosty - and she accused me nad DH of being unsociable and always being in bedroom (only been home for 2 days!) - and to be honest - spending 20 hours b-feeding! So of course we're in bedroom. Do't know what to do to help situ - tried speaking to her and she got moody.. ho hum. But my dad is being great thank god. And he cant get enough of cuddling Jesse.

Oh and bubba M/w said to put boiled water, cooled with cotton wool on eye and then mixtiny breast milk on - apparently great for healing eyes!

On a lovely note - I have a pressure sore on the crack of my bum! Lovely! Absolutely killing me... as is scar - but have tried gauze today buzz - and m/ said best thing for it. She also told me to screw the bath (thank god) and just have a shwoer.

Right - steak on table - YAY! I'll try and log in tomorrow- depending on "the big man" as my DH calls him. My god - still sleeping yay! Grin

Shanster · 09/02/2011 20:15

Hey Ladies, I am finally trying to catch up, DS was born Saturday morning after really fab induction (who knew there was such a thing?). The cervadril gel started my contractions after about 30 mins and baby was born a few hours later weighing 9lb8oz. He hasn't stopped eating, and is a wee stoater. Swelling down below is obscene, but hopefully will ease up soon.

saltnvinigarcrips · 09/02/2011 21:33

Hello everyone. I have spent most of the day napping with Henry. Not really achieved anything productive but I will get round to writing thank you cards tomorrow.

There is so much conflicting advice about breastfeeding. I was feeding from one boob at a time until yesterday when health visitor said always offer the other boob at the end. So i've been doing that and now keep forgetting which boob to feed him from and as a result he just seems to be snacking on them so probably not getting the good stuff :( Think I will go back to how I was doing it before. Constantly wants feeding though so sympathise with you bubba
One of my school friends said your rl dh had gone in today to show his son and she said he was really cute with lovely cheeks :)

Oh and my ds has snotty eyes too. I'm wiping away with cotton wool and cooled boiled water but might make a gp appointment anyway. it takes so long to get an appointment i may as well make it in case it gets worse and if not i can always cancel.

saltnvinigarcrips · 09/02/2011 21:35

Big congratulations shanster only just read your post. Glad the induction wasn't too painful :)

travispickles · 09/02/2011 21:52

Cupcakes - brilliant advice from m/w re. feeding but how in god's name do you keep the baby awake to finish the meal? Saskia falls asleep on the boob, I put her down, she realises she is still hungry... is she then starting again or is she still finishing? It takes ALL NIGHT to finish!

saltnvinigarcrips · 09/02/2011 21:55

Travis I blow on DS face or tickle his feet or make him a little cold by taking his legs out of his baby grow. Tee hee, DS keeps getting little milk tash Grin

LadyBuzz · 10/02/2011 09:43

shanster congratulations on DS.

We had a better day yesterday and Kali managaged to sleep for a whole hour all by herself Grin

It helped to have time with DS1 who is really struggling this week, it must be hard for them to get their little brains round.

I might even venture into town later, I need to see if my monster truck pushchair will fit on the bus first!

cupcake try not to feel bad about your mum, a CS is a nasty recovery and the best thing you can do is rest and make sure you and Jesse are ok, the hormones do make everything worse aswell.
And you are right half an hour after a cigarette before you should touch the baby. I make my MIL do it!
Hope your sore eases soon.

bubba hope last night was better and you managed to get some rest.

farawaytrees · 10/02/2011 11:03

I haven't had a chance to read all the new posts yet but congrats to everyone on your new arrivals!
Our baby boy, Evan Joseph, was born at 12.52 am on Sunday 6 Feb weighing 7lbs 11.
I went in for my induction on the Saturday morning and Evan's heart was decreasing each time I had a contraction, I ended up having to have an emergency caesarian which was very surreal but all went well and Evan was safe and healthy.
Got home from hospital Tuesday evening and am slowly returning to normality.
Rocklover just read your post and can understand how you feel. I have only had a few hours sleep since Evan's birth, my head's all over the place! I slept for 2 hours in bed last night and woke up feeling really stiff. I spend most of my time sat in a kitchen chair with Evan.

Fuzzywood · 10/02/2011 12:08

Great name Faraway Grin, glad to hear you're both back home now.
What pushchair did you get in the end LadyB? I'm a bit like a learner driver with the double one at the moment but it does seem to fit through most doorways.
Hope everyone had a better night last night. Nursery day here for DD so will attempt to nap later when Evan is asleep. DD finding it a bit tough too, not helped by DH working late all week so i've told him he needs to be home for her bath tonight whixh may help. Wanted to pop out later but weather is horrible so may give it a miss.

FloraPost · 10/02/2011 12:36

Ooh hello everybody, what a lot of gorgeous babies, congratulations all round. I've been knocked for six since DP went back to work last week and a bit reclusive after the hospital trauma if I'm honest. Back to normal functioning now though. May I put our details on the stats list?

I know I said I wouldn't put the name, but f* it. (Note to self, must stop swearing in front of the baby).

I have caught up on most of the old thread. JJKM you mentioned reading that Down's pregancies can be rough - I didn't know that, do you have a link? Everything still crossed here for your girls.

I may be inciting fury tempting fate by saying this, but Lenny is a sleeper! Oh yes, tarantara, etc. I wake him once in the night for food otherwise he would sleep through, although frankly I feel we deserve a bit of luck after horrid pregnancy, horrid hospital and the health problems he now has. He is getting more scrummy by the day and put on 8oz last week so is now a whopping 6lb 9oz at 5 weeks old.

Good luck on the bus LadyB. I haven't ventured onto public transport with the cart yet - scared of getting tutted!

CupcakesHay · 10/02/2011 12:42

Aaah - 2 Evans! LOVELY and SNAP faraway on the decreasing contractions and all that shenagigans - i bet we had almost identical labours - but you knwo what all i cared about was safe arrival of DS.

OK - b/feeding going really well BUT only cos of amazing m/w advice. She said just keep feeding on same breast and keep feeding until he "licks his plate" and then kind of pulls away - kind of feels like a tickling sensation. She showed me what he did by sticking her finger in her mouth and kind of licking it and pulling it out - looked dead dirty Grin - but really explained what was happening. travis As for keeping him awake - she said don't stroke cheeks, or blow (he'll try and look for another nipple) - but tickle under ribs or feet and then you'll see the suck-suck-gulp motion - only prob is you need free finger or willing DH to help! Honestly - i swear this woman needs a medal. She's from ivybridge - so hope some of the Devon girls get to meet her - her name was Liz and she called herself the Madwife!

Seriously - DS is spending 45-60 mins feeding and then going down for 3 hours. I swear he wouldn't wake unless we waked him for next feed! Feel sooooooo lovely today and not at all zombie like. it's amazing!

And isn't it fun getting cards and pressies??? Smile

Not planning to venture out til next week - i'm so slow walking cos of c-section that i can't be arsed!

No snotty eyes here - but i'm only on day 5 - same for everything - you can all give me a next week when it all goes pear shape!!!! Grin

Oh - and is it normal to still be crying a little out of happiness sometimes when I look at jesse??? Wink

CupcakesHay · 10/02/2011 12:47

x-post with flora - YAY! Lenny - how lovely and cute! I loved his picture - and i still am overawed with how serene you looked!

Really pleased it's all going well with you flora and i agree 100% you so deserve a wonderful time with Lenny afetr everything. Smile

And well don one stats - but somehow crysty and faraway have got misplaced - so i'll do again!

God - you can tell i've had some sleep!!!!

ps. noticed most of the late ones (except Isobel) were boys.... typical - always so laid back and disorganised!

RockLover · 10/02/2011 13:21

Hi ladies.

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, have been feeling crappy. I am hoping I am on the mend now after having a fairly decent nights sleep (if a somewhat stiff and sore one) and I am coping better.

George was a little bugger, hence the c-section! The propess pessary started labour off overnight and in the morning I was 2.5 cm dilated so they sent me up to delivery to have my waters broken (which was effing agony).

I am ashamed to say that I found the contractions excrutiating and begged for an epidural which took over 1/2 hr and 2 attempts to site (bloody OW!!!!). They left me to labour and I progressed to 7cm, then they left me another 6 hrs and when checked again at 11.30pm progression had completely stopped. I was given the choice of a synto drip and waiting it out or a c-section.

Chose c-section, but christ it was horrible. My epidural hadn't reached my bladder or bowel and I felt horrid shooting pains throughout the entire process. Anyhow, self pity aside George was back to back and totally stuck and more scarily he had tied a proper granny knot in his cord (only the 2nd they had seen in 10 yrs at the hospital) and if I had tried to carry on for a vaginal birth it could have ended very badly for my boy.

Wanted to breastfeed, but the little tyke wouldn't latch on and barely fed for 2 days, so now he is on formula and I am expressing as much as I can to try and establing combination feeding. He is doing really, really well now and has barely lost any weight and is THE most gorgeous boy I have ever seen. :)

Congratulations to everyone else by the way, I have looked at the pics that have been posted and this group have produced such beautiful babies we must all be exceptionally talented.

Mumsnet is being crap and I can't upload a photo of George, so here is a link you can view to my Facbeook page. www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=273644&id=588871975&l=5f376c2d80.
