Here we go, down the slippery slope of parenthood. Slippery thanks to the poos, wees, leaky boobs and goodness knows what else :o :o

We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

It's difficult isn't it?

I only realised last week that I'd not got any photos of me breastfeeding which makes me a little sad. Also I gave DDs first tiny sleepsuits to a friend with a premature baby and told her to send them to a charity shop when she was done, not thinking that it would be nice to save them. I've saved a slightly larger sleepsuit she had though.

Not sure I'll save her first tooth or not. It feels slightly creepy to save body parts.

Fuzzywood · 05/05/2011 22:27

I felt really bad the other day as friends with 2 DC were talking about when their first DC did something and would the second do it at the same time and I couldn't remember when DD did stuff Blush. Determined to make notes this time Smile.
In regards to nursery or other childcare it is hard but I think if you find somewhere you like it's much easier. Putting DD into nursery for some of the time I was at work has been a great decision as she loves it and I think has helped with her social skills. If I could give any advice I'd say make sure you're comfortable with place obviously but also look at the other kids. They'll always be some crying but if they generally look relaxed and happy then it ought to be a good environment. It is really difficult. I've been lucky that DD has only cried once since she's been there. Just enjoy every minute you can they grow up too fast Smile.
Right off to try dream feed again, has made no difference on the first 2 attempts so here's hoping it makes him sleep a bit longer tonight. He's a milk machine Grin.

I know how you feel fuzzy, DH and I were talking about what L's first word might be, and DD1 asked what hers was and we had to make it up Blush. DH's mum on the other hand can remember every single fecking thing he said and did throughout his entire life and all through rose-tinted glasses really well. :o

LadyBuzz · 06/05/2011 12:08

I have all 3 cords and clamps, their first sleepsuit and a whole pile of other random crap too Grin

I know DS1 took his first steps on his first birthday and DS2 first word was hiya but it was also his only word for a looooong time other then that I have no idea!
I can't even tell you when Kali first smiled and thats only in the last 15 weeks Hmm

HubbaHubbaBubba · 06/05/2011 13:06

ewwww at keeping cords ladyb!!! although I do have all three pee-sticks!!!! Blush

I know when DD1 first walked (it was at a friend's 1st birthday party and I missed it!! Blush - but shhhh, don't tell her. And I know when DD2 walked as it was literally the day before her 1st birthday. I must start making note of when L does things (although we could probably all scroll back through this thread to work out when these ones have done any milestones!! :o)

travispickles · 06/05/2011 18:32

MY DP HAS NOT BEEN MADE REDUNDANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) So I will be able to go part time next year and spend time with my baby :) :)

LadyBuzz · 06/05/2011 18:59

travis that is fab news i'm really pleased for you Smile

Fuzzywood · 06/05/2011 19:40

Brilliant news Travis.
Realised today that I do know when DD sat on her own and walked for the first time so I don't feel quite so bad now Smile.
I'm so tired think I might have a couple of hours sleep now then pack for the hen do. The ones on both days of the hen do have been drinking since lunchtime, tonight was supposed to be the quiet one, they were always going to peak too soon!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 06/05/2011 21:13

Hurrah, really pleased for you and your DP travis, must be such a relief.

travispickles · 06/05/2011 21:15

Sorry just realised how insensitive that was - am not the only one here who has had that black cloud over me. I am sure all will go well for everyone else in this horrible situation.

gallicgirl · 07/05/2011 13:03

Great news Travis. Must be a weight off your mind.

Milestones news: Alys rolled onto her side properly today.

However, you can also take her off the list of babies who sleep at night. :( She's woken around 6:30 for the last two mornings. I wouldn't mind so much but she doesn't go to sleep until midnight. yesterday I misread the time and thought it was almost 9 so got up and fed her so she ended up having 6 bottles. This morning though, I spent time settling her back to sleep. It took quite a while but she did sleep through til 9 eventually. She then slept for about an hour and a half after her first bottle and is now back in bed again Shock. If this lasts, this might be the time to struggle and implement a proper bedtime routine so I know she's getting enough sleep and has a bit more structure.

RunningKatie · 07/05/2011 17:06

Fab news Travis, I'm so pleased for you & your DP.

Took DD to the park yesterday with some NCT friends, she screamed herself silly, I felt like such a bad mother :(

jjkm, we've been engaged since July, so not too long - I'm now getting a bit excited about organising things whereas up to now it's all been baby oriented.

We have a baby book that I'm trying to record firsts in but even now I can't remember things and DP's useless just saying everything was "a few weeks ago". Hmm

HubbaHubbaBubba · 08/05/2011 20:03

mini bookmark as I'd lost you all

Fuzzywood · 08/05/2011 21:15

In bed already, had a great time at the yen do, partying until 5am is a lot harder than it used to be. Really hoping Evan has a good night as I need some sleep. DH says looking after 2 of them on his own was a piece if cake so I told him I'll go away more often! Grin
Hope all are well.

Fuzzywood · 08/05/2011 21:16

Hen do clearly not yen do. Fuzzy in name and nature today Smile

That's fantastic jjkm you must be so thrilled! L is only just above the 75th centile for weight which, considering their two massively different starting positions, is amazing! Just goes to show that it doesn't always matter where they start, they pretty much always end up on a similar track! (if only we could rewind and not have worried so much back then!) :)

Our engagement was just over a year, but predominantly because of needing to get married just before a school holiday (both teachers) - we got engaged in January and couldn't organise anything for that summer, my MIL ruled out December Hmm so we got married the next February.

DD1 is off sick today, so I have gone back to the pleasure of trying to entertain a 4 year old and a 3 month old at the same time so CBeebies is being my friend while Lachlan naps and I can catch up on MN :o

How is everyone else doing?

HubbaHubbaBubba · 10/05/2011 15:22

He's about 15 and a half pounds now (you're right, I'd forgotten boys' weights are higher for the same centile) - but although he's not put on weight at the rate of his birth weight, he's very happy and content although is sleeping an awful lot today!

Just blown up the old sitting-ring thingamy which my DDs had to see if he likes that - he's desperate to sit unaided but is clearly a long way off so thought this might be a compromise he'd be happy with.

LadyBuzz · 10/05/2011 18:58

jjkm that is fantastic progress.

Kali is around 13 and a half ish (I weighed her on the wii fit so not totally accurate) but she seems to have gone from the 9th centile to just under the 50th.
She doesn't seem to eat that much but she has most definately grown loads.

She is getting christened on sunday and MIL has just dropped the antique family christening gown off - it is beautiful, both boys wore it too.
After the service she is wearing the dress her godmother wore when she was christened, i'm quite looking forward to it.

We will know on Monday if DHs job is safe

Fuzzywood · 10/05/2011 20:28

That's fantastic progress JJKM. I had Evan weighed yesterday, he's 14lb 12oz so moving back towards the 75th centile.
I'm hoping to talk to the vicar about getting Evan's christening on Sunday. No idea what he'll wear as I bought a dress for DD so can't use that again. I think it's lovely to have a family heirloom to wear. Fingers crossed for Monday LadyB.
Also had his jabs done yesterday and he screamed the place down. One of his legs has swollen up quite badly poor little thing.
Evan is also desperate to sit up Bubba so I put him in a bumbo chair earlier and he seemed to like it. His head is still a bit wobbly though so I couldn't keep him in there for long.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 10/05/2011 20:48

Ooh, exciting about the christenings coming up -L's isnt' until July now because we decided to wait for my sister (who lives abroad) and her family to be in the UK - but by then our gorgeous antique gown may well need to be adjusted to fit The Fat Boy!! :)

Ooh, thinking about it is getting me all reminiscent of the girls' christenings - am going to post up a pic of them in their gown for you all to see. Give me two secs...

HubbaHubbaBubba · 10/05/2011 21:15

Right pics up, and apprentice has started, so Shhhh!! :o

Yes, tried bumbo a couple of times - loved it first time then he kept arching his back to get out the 2nd. Maybe when he's a bit bigger :)

travispickles · 10/05/2011 21:18

So exciting! So many of you back on here... I missed you Sad Actually I am sure you are all busy with the babies, they sleep less and need more now I find! Watching Eurovision semi finals, hilarious! I wonder if Sacha Baron Cohen got ideas for Borat from some of these?! Saskia being weighed tomorrow, she is huge now! Well over a stone I think. Have any of you looked at nurseries? I went to one today - frankly it look s exhausting! Mind you at least it didn't smell of poo like the one I saw last week.
