Here we go, down the slippery slope of parenthood. Slippery thanks to the poos, wees, leaky boobs and goodness knows what else :o :o

We'll be here to hold each other's virtual hands through the tough nights and delightful days, and to laugh at each other's stories of comedy nappy changes Hmm, and the fear (or not?) of getting back in the saddle, and coating some cervixes just for the fun of it again!! :o

Hope Cupcakes is ok what a nightmare at anytime but so much more so with a little one.

We're kind if between High Wycombe and Marlow Bubba. We are very lucky as it is a lovely part of the world. I've not been to Burnham Beeches though. Have you survived the in laws ok? And boo to kids getting canny, we haven't given all of the eggs DD has been given to her yet so she'll never know. Plus MIL got one for Evan as well, clearly I have to eat that one Grin.
Evan has started chuckling as well, so cute, he's really ticklish under his chin and when I try to clean out the milk he stores there he giggles like a loon.

Right off to track down more chocolate!

RunningKatie · 25/04/2011 20:13

Glad to hear Cupcakes is on her way back to the UK, sounds from the news like it's much the best place for her.

Anyone else got an unhappy baby in this heat? DD really doesn't like it, which is understandable as I'm fairly rubbish in the heat too.

Hospital tomorrow morning to check out her kidneys, hoping that it's just the GP being overly cautious.

Loving the idea of Evan giggling Fuzzy :)

HubbaHubbaBubba · 25/04/2011 20:50

Good luck with tomorrow running, hope all goes well. Let us know how you get on.

L also hating the heat, so did his sisters but still can't work out how to help them! He had a bit of a weird hunger strike today - fed at 11am then had the most minuscule feed at 2 then shouted his head off at me from 5pm and refused the boob until I'd tried everything and gave in and tried to get him to sleep with the dummy, then as he was furiously sucking away on that, I 'dummied' him with the boob :o (Do you see what I did there? Hilarious play on words Hmm :o) and he fed for a decentish time.

He's being an absolute delight (normally!!) the rest of the time - chatting away, telling us the longest and most intricate stories about his life, chuckles away when I change his bum (tickly balls??! Hmm :o :o) and when we 'aeroplane' fly him. He loves it! Also now sucking on his fists and on anything he can grab (which isn't much, but he's trying). He's also desperately trying to sit up from lying down - practising the sit-up movement, and is sitting quite well (good, stocky build :o) with a minimal amount of support. His rolling remains very much limited to going from his back onto his right side. No more, no less!

salt I'm not going in tomorrow - but don't not go in because you're not feeling slim and glam. Without being rude, most people won't be looking at you anyway - they'll be gazing at your adorable little boy :)

Fuzzywood · 25/04/2011 22:23

Hope it goes well tomorrow Running.

Bit of a poorly boy here too. Not happy at all today, seems to have a bit of an upset tummy, worrying I've done something wrong with the bottles (not bf anymore for reasons I'm happy with but I'm now feeling bad) ho hum.

We've had a lovely weekend though so not really looking forward to DH going back to work. Might go to the farm tomorrow if I have the energy, been in bed since about eight o'clock.

Loving that L laughs at a nappy change Bubba.

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/04/2011 22:23

HOpe all goes well tomorrow running. DS has also been a bit whingey in this heat and sleeping lots. Not sure how it bodes for when we go to Cyprus in May eek.

Going into school tomorrow to show off baby to all and sundry. Here's hoping Henry doesn't show himself up by doing one of his explosive poos that escape from his nappy and go everywhere. Will pack spare clothing just in case :)

Crysalis · 26/04/2011 10:37

hi all. tis crysty...name changed... sorry for confusion

DS also not liking the heat much, which is not so nice when the garden is calling me... he's just over the cold (as am i) and now it's jabs again this week - how quick they come around!!

he's blowing bubbles like a mad man all day now and has properly found his voice - gone from coos to shouts and longer sounds. he's noisy all the time, except when he's asleep and it's beyond cute!

managed a wedding, lunch out with friends twice and two late nights over the bank holiday, so v. proud of DS. he gets all the cuddles and fuss... and i get a G&T!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 27/04/2011 08:12

Quick Qu. for you 2nd time mums LadyB Fuzzy and Rock - if you have sent out invitations but not had replies to a birthday party, would you assume that those who haven't replied are or are not coming? Angry need to get things sorted (food, pass the parcel, party bags etc etc), and still have had no replies from over half the parents (and I can't contact them either) Angry

and breathe.......

LadyBuzz · 27/04/2011 08:21

bubba I had this with DS1s last party and I made sure I had catered for the ones that hadn't replied but iirc only one that hadn't replied turned up.
I also find it infuriating and really really rude to not reply.
I would make sure you have a handful spare but at the same time you don't want to waste stuff Angry on your behalf!!

Kali doesn't seem to mind the heat too much, but then the boys didn't either and both DH and I are sun bunnies!
She has however decided that the place she likes best is the floor/carpet/concrete wall etc etc and has a hissy fit if you dare to put her on her gym/pram/bouncy chair Confused strange baby!

I have been with my DN (3 weeks old) and Kali looked really huge next to her Sad my baby is growing up far too fast!

running good luck for today.

LadyBuzz · 27/04/2011 08:22

running or even yesterday - i'm vv confused with my days!

Fuzzywood · 27/04/2011 09:08

What a pain Bubba so rude not to reply. The stroppy part of me would say stuff them but then I'd revert to being my mother (which scarily is happening more and more) and cater for them just in case. So annoying though.

You're right LadyB they are growing up too fast. I think because I know Evan is my last it makes it seem even faster. I was getting really sad the other day putting his Moses basket and 0-3 month clothes away. On the positive side though his personality seems to be appearing now which is lovely.

travispickles · 27/04/2011 09:50

Hi all - sorry it's been an age but I have been away staying at MIL's. It was nice to have other people around to to look after the baby although if I had drunk one more cup of bloody tea in their ridiculously overheated house I might have done something regrettable. They also eat the smallst portions, so the evening meal consists of 3 tiny new potatoes, 3 pieces of carrot, a dessert spoon of peas and half a piece of fish with a smear of white sauce. Now call me a greedy cow but I could have wolfed that down in 3 mouthfulls but in order to not look uncouth I was cutting up a small piece of carrot and having to count between mouthfuls. I kid you not. DP and I were having whispered conversations at night about how hungry we were :). The good news - I can now get into my jeans!! We figured it was like a free health farm.
Sorry for the rant! But it's good to be home and back with you all....

HubbaHubbaBubba · 27/04/2011 10:20

lol poor you travis - that sounds like a tiny snack (and a healthy one at that!) :o

saltnvinigarcrips · 27/04/2011 11:35

Lol at travis's tiny meal. I am one of those rare people who you could call a failed bulimic - I stuff myself stupid but always forget to throw up lol.:) Still i'm always surprised I'm not bigger. I used to hate going to my ex boyfriends house because his mum always bought this gorgeous carrot cake and would only give you a tiny portion so I would sneak down in the night and cut away tiny slitherines of it but would get carried away until the whole thing was gone. Oh dear. I've been really good recently as have started running and eating less but because there's so much chocolate in the fridge from Easter I can't stop eating it all. Just had a dairy milk as part of my breakfast [embarrassed].

And on a different note I hope cupcakes is okay having watched the horror unfold in Syria yesterday.

I went into school (place of work) yesterday with DS and he was a hit flirting with all and sundry giving them big gummy smiles. Just a shame I couldn't show him off to more people as had to dash to get him his 12 week immunisations. Poor lamb screamed like noone's business but shoving my boob in his face definitely calmed him.
Not sure what to do with myself today. Feeling very unmotivated to even get dressed? I wore flip flops on Sunday and it cut between my toe so bad I can barely walk on it and because I'm walking on the side of my foot my knee now hurts :(

Is anyone doing anything exciting for the wedding?

gallicgirl · 27/04/2011 11:36

oo travis, poor you but hurrah for fitting into your jeans. I feel that along with a baby, I was also handed someone else's body because this flabby monster can't possibly be mine!

Had internet problems which is driving me nuts but means I get a bit more accomplished during the day. The lack of contact with the outside world is getting me down though.

Has anyone been invited to a post-natal parenting course at their local clinic? I'll go along and see how it goes but I'm a bit dubious. They are six 2 hour sessions and the first session is "getting to know each other and what you would like to know". Hmm TWO hours on getting to know people? How big is this group going to be???

HubbaHubbaBubba · 27/04/2011 12:23

gallic agree it sounds awful, but I met some of my now best mum-friends through an NHS postnatal group four years ago :)

The worst thing that can happen is you waste two hours the first time, realising you have nothing in common with the other mums.

gallicgirl · 27/04/2011 12:56

Suppose so. Will have to make sure we get up early so I can bring DDs feed forward an hour to give us chance of getting there near the start time.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 27/04/2011 12:57

OMG sorry gallic just read that back and realise how much I'm turning into my mother AAAARRGHHHHHHHHHH!!

gallicgirl · 27/04/2011 13:24
Grin

It happens to the best of us.

It's ok - I need a kick sometimes.

RunningKatie · 27/04/2011 14:51

DD has a cold, she's lying under her gym shouting away to herself feeling most grumpy. Poor little lamb.

Took her to the hospital yesterday, it was a bit mixed, the Dr said she didn't think there is a problem with her kidneys, but then tried to do her blood pressure and that came back consistently high. So, we need to go again next week, to have it checked on a machine that's properly calibrated for babies rather than just children.

Gallic, never heard about a postnatal course, guess we don't get them around here.

Well done on fitting back in the jeans Travis, although the meals sound like they wouldn't sustain a mouse, and I'd be starving on them!

Oh poor you jjkm with the sleep (or lack of!). That makes even my lot sound good.

gallicgirl · 29/04/2011 12:28

How's Isobel doing running? Hope that cold has cleared up.

Alys had her second set of jabs yesterday and she really protested! Grin Poor little thing has a healthy set of lungs on her when she chooses to use them.

Are you all enjoying the wedding or desperately trying to find something else to do? My neighbours have actually decorated the outside of their house with bunting. I have to take a photo for my American friends.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 29/04/2011 14:04

I love a good wedding, me, :o so have watched the main part of it, despite not being a royalist, and my DDs are overexcited beyond belief that we have a real-life prince and princess getting married, so they've been enjoying it (except DD1 cried because she wanted to go the 'big church' to the wedding).

DH is harrumphing around the place though! :o

Luckily not a lot of bunting in our street, but there is a picnic at the playground at the end of our road which is our version of a street party.

Fuzzywood · 29/04/2011 14:55

Have Sky plussed the wedding, not hugely interested apart from seeing what Kate and Posh are wearing. In Legoland which is actually pretty quiet. DD having a whale of a time particularly in the water bit (I stripped her to her underwear before I let her go in, good job she doesn't feel the cold and I packed spare pants). Going to buy some champagne on the way home to drink while watching the main bit of the wedding, any excuse for bubbles [cgrin]
Haven't had the appointment for Evan's second set of jabs yet, he's 13 weeks now do hope they call next week.
Hope all are well.

gallicgirl · 29/04/2011 15:26

I'd just go and book anyway if I were you. Too many bank holidays to work appointments around.

Nothing on the tv now BUT the bloody wedding!!!
